Different Version of report based on Prompt!!!

Hi ,
Please do reply if you have  solution to this problem.
I have a main report which has all its data coming from different subreports. So basically I have already a version for thsi report in production which retrieves me all data in table used.
But now we have a new reqmnt where I want a parameter field 1. say for all data(existing one) 2nd prompt for say 'Phone' data only. So basically when teh user select 'Phone' from prompt Internally I shld check for the 'Phone Flag = 'Y''. So for Phone promts I should be seeing values only for those records which have 'Phone Flag =Y'. and for 'All ' prompt it shld take all data irrespective what flag is.
I tried 2 approaches :
1. I can hardcode the condition 'Phone Flag='Y'' in my SQL and then map the prompt with this , but the problem is the SQL is getting complicated and hence I'm not able to do this way.
2. Insteas of hardcoding teh condition on flag , I just put the flag field in teh select query , so that this field is availabel for me to map to teh main rpeort prompts. But the results are incorrect since it would appear in teh group by function since its available in select as well . So even thsi option is ruled out!!
Is there any other approach??
Note : One only table used for entire subreports.
Excuse Typos.
Thanks.

I assume that the record selection will need to get done in each sub report
therefore the parameter will need to be pass down (if you don't know how to do this read the help if you still can't get it post back here)
at the sub report level your records selection is
if {?Pm-?test} = "phone" then 'Phone Flag = 'Y'' // phone only
else  1=1 // all

  • OBIEE 10.1.3.4 - Selection of reports based on prompts

I have reports (requests) say 1,2,3 under category 'A', Reports (requests) 4,5,6 under category 'B'. Based on the dashboard prompt for Category, I need to display the corresponding reports(requests) in the dashboard. Can someone please help me do this.

    Hi,
Can do this with guided navigation.
Take two sections.Place reports 1,2,3 in section1 and reports 4,5,6 in section2.Create two intermediate report(Report1 & Report2)with only one column Category.
Report1 - Add filter Category is not equal to B and Category is prompted in the report created and save it.
Report2 - Add filter Category is not equal to A and Category is prompted in the report created and save it.
Under Section1 Properties->Guided navigation->Select Reference Source Request to Yes->Browse and select the intermediate report Report1->Select Show Section to If request returns rows
Under Section2 Properties->Guided navigation->Select Reference Source Request to Yes->Browse and select the intermediate report Report2->Select Show Section to If request returns rows
    Save it and run.

  • WebI report based on Universe upon SAP BEx Queries:Prompt issue

    Hi,
I am creating Web Intelligence report using Universe based on SAP Bex Queries. In WebI report I created a filter condition as I need to run report based on two specidc dates. I need to schedule report to run 2nd of every month to show data for last month. At present I have the following filter : date between 'Start Date' and 'End Date'. 'Start Date' should always be 'first date of previous month' and End Date be always must be 'Last date of previous Month'. How to do this. The solution I thought would be to create  variables at report/universe level ('first date of previous month' and 'Last date of previous Month') and use in the filter using 'Object from this Query' option. But this 'Object from this Query' option is missing in the prompt. Is there any work around to achieve this.? Could you please help me.

    Hi all,
I have a related question too.
I have 2 queries and need a Combined BEx query written on this for reporting. (WebI)
In the 2 queries, there is a Field which needs to be restricted.
But this field should not be restricted in the Combined BEx query.
So I thought of restricting the Field at the report level. But in this case, the user gets a prompt to enter a value for the field.
And this is not desirable as per the requirement.
COuld you please tell me if there is another way of handling this without the user being prompted to enter a value while the report is being run, but still I need selection at the Field level.
    Thanks and Regards,

  • A Date prompt defaulting the data in Report based on selection

    Gurus,
I have a requirement , where i have a (in between) date prompt set in the dashboard current defulting to Start Month date and End Month date of current month.
What the user want is based on the selection using a drop down in dashboard which has got values Last Day, Last week, Last Month , the default values in Date filter should change in dashboard.
For Eg. If the user select Last Week, the in between date filter show the default date value as Last Week Mon and Last Sun, and should filter out the report based on that.
    Any idea's are welcome....
    Thanks & Regards
    -Saurabh

Try to see if you can get user to agree on something easier.
Here are the steps to achieve what you want.
    1. Create a prompt for 1 day, 2 week, and 3 month
    2. Create three separate reports based on above selection, which has page prompt for day/week/month respectively.
    3. Create GN based on step in 1 and then let UI change between three reports you created in step 2
    I hope this helps,
    Best luck

  • Data Selection for report based upon a 'Prompt Value'

I want to report information in my report based upon a 'user input prompt value'
    for example:
'Enter Shareholder Selection - A-Active, I-Inactive, B-Both Active and Inactive'
if the user enters 'A', the report selects only active shareholders
if the user enters 'I', the report selects only inactive shareholders
if the user enters 'B' the report selects all shareholders, active and inactive
the field in the database that this based upon is their total share value.
if this field is greater than zero (>0) they are considerd 'active'
if this field is equal to zero (=0) they are considered 'inactive'.
I have tried creating some type of filter,  but am not having any luck.
I saw a few examples within the forums that I have tried without any luck....unfortunately most of the examples I've seen are base one only two choices.
I'm sure I need to create some type of 'independant varible' but am not sure how to do that either.
    Any suggestions would be appreciated.
    Thanks.

    Hi Daryl,
I Tried this unsuccessfully in DESKI . We can't Eliminate Rows having Empty Measure Values or Measure with 0 as values using Table Level Filter as FIlter can't FIlter rows based on Prompt value selection dynamically. Filters filter rows at a time and not based on 3 condition as Active, Inactive and Both. thus filters are of no use.
I Tried this in WEBI, and it is working perfectly you donu2019t have to create any Object in Universe, you can do it using function UserResponse() at report level.
Hence if you are comfortable using WEBI for Generating this report then Follow the steps.
    1. Create Report With Name and Shares Object. It will display all Shareholder Names and No.of shares they hold.
    2. Use Status Object in Query filter, use condition as u201CEqual Tou201D and Select prompt. It  contains Active, Inactive and Both as values.
    3. Report will Display all Shareholder names and No. of  shares  like 45, 789, 0, 4562 where 0 is inactive Shareholder and all other are active shareholder.
    4. Create Variable using Formula.
    =If(UserResponse("Enter Status:")="Active" And [Shares]>0;[Shares];If(UserResponse("Enter Status:")="Inactive" And [Shares]<=0;[Shares];If(UserResponse("Enter Status:")="Both";[Shares])))
    5. Remove Shares Object from the report and Put Variable created with Names of Shareholders.
    6. Select Table-> Properties-> Display-> Uncheck the Option u201CShow Rows with Empty Measure Valuesu201D
    7. Report will display Value correctly as per your Prompt value selection.
    I Hope this Helpsu2026

  • Is there a way to hide some reports based on the selected values in prompt.

    Hi Experts,
Is there a way to hide some reports based on the selected values in prompt.
For ex. if a year is selected in the prompt then the report should display year wise report.
If a year and half year both are selected in the drop down from prompt section then 2 reports should come.. One for year wise and another for half year wise.Kindly look into this.
    Regards
    Ashish

    Hi,
Use presentation values in prompts for year, half, qtr and month.Example- For year-y is presentation variable in the same way for halfyear-h,qtr-q and month-m.
create four intermediate reports.Example-Report r1 with only year column,r2 with only halfyear column,r3 with qtr column and r4 with month column.
Make column in each report(r1,r2,r3,r4) is equal to their presentation variables(y,h,q,m).
    Use four sections.
Section1-Place report that should come when only year.
section2-Place report that should come for year and halfyear.
Section3-Place report that should come for year, halfyear and qtr.
Section4-Place report that should come for year, halfyear, qtr and month.
Apply guided navigation for each section selecting guided navigation-
    For section1-
properties->Guided navigation->check this Reference Source Request(Yes)->select report r1(year)->check this Show Section(if request returns row)
In the same way do for remaining section2(select r2),section3(select r3) and section4(select r4)

  • Can I pass parameters from a dashboard via a dashboard prompt and presentation variable to publisher report based on a data model with select statements in OBIEE 11g ?

I have a publisher 11g (v 11.1.1.7)  report with a single parameter. The report is based on a data model not a subject area.  I created a dashboard put a dashboard prompt and link to the report in separate section on the same page.  The dashboard prompt sets a presentation variable named the same as the parameter in the report.
The problem was when I created the dashboard prompt, it forced me to select a subject area which I did (though did not want to) and then I created both a column and variable prompts. But clicking on the
report link completely ignored the value that I thought would be passed in the presentation variable to the report.
Side note :  My report uses a pdf template for its layout where I have mapped the columns names from my data model to the form fields on the pdf form.  I noticed that if I create a publisher report based on a subject area, then I do not have the choice to choose a PDF as a template type for my layout.  (I only see BI Publisher Template as a choice).
I see some documentation online that suggest it could be done in 10g.
    Thanks
    M. Jamal

    Ok,
I just tried that and it still doesn't pass anything to the prompt.
I changed the prompt to an edit field and I made the following weblink but when i click the link from an account it doesn't put anything in the prompt and all data for all accounts is shown.
This is the URL maybe I messed something up...

  • Single Crystal Report based on Five different SAP BEx Quries.

    Hi,
I need to create 5 different Charts (in a single report)  based on five different SAP BW BEx Queries. These are charts with 3- axes i.e. X,Y,Z.
The example requirement is to create Line charts (Vertical Mixed Line Charts) and deatils are as follows: The chart should show CPU Utilization % for different servers (eg. Servers1,2,3,4,5) for each day in a particular month.
    Axes details:
    X- Axis - Date eg: 01 /09/2010 to 30/09/2010
    Y-Axis - CPU Utilisation Percent
    Z-Axis - Servers from 1 to 5
The above detailed chart comes from a BEx Query . In this way there are four more BEx queries which should give four other charts.
    My queries are:
    1. Is this possible to create a single report using five different BEx queries and Create 5 different charts(one chart from each BEx Query) in a single tab as in the current manual report.(All the five Line charts should be downloadable to a single sheet in Excel)
    2. One more, should I use Crystal Reports only? The charts are of high format natute so Web Intelligence will not produce the same.  Is any other tool that helps for this requirement.
    3. I can create five different Universes based on BEx Queries. Is this possible to create a single report from five different Universes.
    Please advise.
    Nanda Kishore.
Edited by: Nanda Kishore B on Oct 21, 2010 8:05 AM

To start with you cannot use SAP BW universes in Crystal Reports., YOu have to use the BW MDX driver.
For performance reasons I would suggest to add 4 subreports into your main reports containing each on of the 4 remaining charts.

  • Report based on 2 different Fact tables

    Hi all
Is it possible to make a report based on 2 Fact tables wich are not linked to exactly the same dimensions?
    FactTable1 : linked to Time,Product,Geography
    FactTable2: linked to only Time
The FactTable2 will contain only one measure which is a constant value per year and It will be used to be compared to the FactTable2's measure (It's a kind of reference).
So do FactTable2 need to be linked to Geography and product to be able to create this report??
    Regards.

I tried to set the level for the metrics...now it doesn't make the CAST anymore, but i get a result set bigger than i need...
BI Server seems to make the union of 2 instead of the intersection...
For example, if i have 5 customers, but only 2 customers have a service request (order) associated, then the server returns the following report
    Customer Code | Service Request Code | # asset(Fact 1) | # order (Fact2)
    0000001_________NULL_______________ 5____________ 0
    0000002_________NULL_______________ 4____________ 0
    0000003_____ 700000930______________ 3___________ 1
    0000004_____ 700000930______________ 3___________ 1
    0000005_________NULL_______________ 3____________ 0
while my goal is to get just the list of customers having at least a service request (order)...
I tried to create a filter on the column "Serve Request Code", but it doen't have effect, cuz the server lunchs 2 different sql queries to create the report:

  • Conditional Display of Interactive Report Based On Different SQL Query

    Hello,
I have two drop down list on top of my page and below that I have a interactive report.
Based on user selection of values from drop down, interactive report should change based on different SQL queries.
Is it possible to have different SQL queries based on values from drop down and generate interactive report based on that?
    Thanks

I am passing my drop down value to apex_collection like the following:
    APEX_COLLECTION.CREATE_COLLECTION_FROM_QUERY( p_collection_name => 'IR_LIST',
p_query => REQUEST_VIEW(:P12_VIEW));However when I change the values from the drop down, :P12_VIEW is not getting the value from drop down even though I could see value being changed in URL. I have created page process for apex_collection
Process Point - OnLoad - Before Header
Run Process - Once Per Session or When ResetCould someone suggest as why I cannot get the values in function when drop down is changed?

  • 1 Conditional report based on 3 select lists/ 3 different select statements

I have made 1 report based on the three select lists. The report is displayed in the center of the page. The user needs to fill them in order, the select lists are:
    Selectlist:
    1. P1_LOVPG - Null is allowed, but is only appearing at top with a label of Productgroup
    2. P1_LOVSG - Null is allowed, but is only appearing at top with a label of Subgroup
    3. P1_LOVMA - Null is allowed, but is only appearing at top with a label of Manufacturer
LOVPG contains a distinct collect of the ProductGroups
QUERY LOV = select distinct pg from X
LOVSG contains a distinct collect of the SubGroups inside the selected PG.list
QUERY LOV = select distinct sg from X where pg = :P1_LOVPG
LOVMA contains a distinct collect of the Manufacturers inside the selected SG.lst
QUERY LOV = select distinct ma from X where sg = :P_LOVSG
Based on the the selected items the user would see the following:
    Table X
    PG SG MA ART
    A-----X----M---1
    A-----X----N---2
    A-----Y----M---3
    A-----X----M---4
    B-----X----M---5
    B-----Y----N---6
    B-----Z----O---7
Seletion 1 PG = A -> selects PG A in select list result, User sees:
    Report A
    PG SG MA ART
    A-----X----M---1
    A-----X----N---2
    A-----Y----M---3
    A-----X----M---4
Query would be: select * from X where PG = :P1_LOVPG
Selection 2, user still sees the above, can only select from the SG select list NULL, X, Y. User needs to choose between X or Y value. He picks X, he sees:
    Report B
    PG SG MA ART
    A-----X----M---1
    A-----X----N---2
    A-----X----M---4
Query would be: select * from X where PG = :P1_LOVPG and SG = :P_LOVSG
Selection 3, user still sees selection 2 on his screen, can only select from the MA list bewteen NULL, M or N, user needs to choose between M or N. He picks M, he sees:
    Report C
    PG SG MA ART
    A-----X----M---1
    A-----X----M---4
Query would be: select * from X where PG = :P1_LOVPG and SG = :P_LOVSG
As you can see the query changes as the user goes deeper into the structure. It is a simple if then else system where the quey changes. How do I set this up in htmldb?
(I've read something about Oracle's SQL and it's decode function, but can they be used with changing select statements?)

are you sure your data meets the JOIN conditions?
You can make a quick check.. only example...
select single * from KONP into ls_konp
    where knumh = P_knumh.
    if sy-subrc eq 0.
select * from from A905 into table lt_a905 where
         kappl in so_kappl
         and kschl in so_kschl
         and VKORG in so_vkorg
         and vtweg in so_vtweg
         and kondm in so_kondm
         and wkreg in so_wkreg
         and knumh = ls_konp-knumh.
    if sy-subrc eq 0.
    select * from A919 into table lt_a919
    for all entries in lt_a905
    where kappl = lt_a905-kappl
    and kschl = lt_905-kschl
    and knumh = lt_905-knumh.
    endif.
    endif.

  • Creating a Report based on different schema objects

    Hi,
I have a situation in creating Reports for my database performance.
    Let me explain my requirment.
There are 2 schemas in my database called X, Y
X owns all the performance related data. But Y has read access on X objects.
Now in APEX I have a developer DEV1 is mapped to database schema Y through WS1.
I cannot map DEV1 to database schema X for security reasons.
When I am trying to create a report as DEV1, it is allowing me to create based on the objects owned by schema Y.
However it is not allowing me to create a report based on objects owned by X though Y has SELECT privileges on X's objects.
Can any one help in this?

  • Running Aging reports based on Document date in 2007

    Hi All,
I have an issue while running the Receivables aging report in the 2007 version. The customer usually runs the reports based on the document date. Document date holds more importance in their case.
However, in the 2007 version, the aging report is totally governed by the posting date. For example, if I change the aging date, the posting date also changes to the aging date and viceversa. If I want to change the aging date to 01/31/09, the posting date u2018Tou2019 automatically changes to 01/31/09 and when we run the report, it will bring in all transactions until the posting date of 01/31/09.
But, the requirement is to leave the posting date as blank and give the document date u2018Tou2019 01/31/09. This will then pull all transactions until the document date of 01/31/09 irrespective of the posting date.
As a result, when you run the balance sheet with the document date of 01/31/09, receivables show a different balance. This discrepancy is due to the fact that AR Receivable aging report forces to keep the Aging date = Posting date.
This was not the case in SAP 2005 version where we were allowed to key in the aging date and the document date to get results based on document date.
This is very critical as they have recently upgraded from 2005 to 2007 and they are unable to reconcile the balances out of Balance sheet and Aging.
    Please advise.
    Thanks,
    Payal

    Hi Jitin,
We tried that as well but no luck. There is still a discrepency between what the aging shows and what the BS shows. When we put the Aging date as 01/31/09 and Document date as 01/3109, the posting date 'To' is automatically filled with 01/31/09, so it basically searches for all transactions with the posting date 01/31/09 and document date 01/31/09. This is not the requirement as we do not want to consider the posting date at all while running the aging.
I also have some screenshots if I can share. I am not sure if I should report this to SAP for further investigation or am I missing something here.
    Thanks for your help.
