Differnt Session ID between Runtime and Development

Hi,
i have 2 applications.
One there is the same session id when you switch beween dev (edit page xx) and runtime (run)
http://micky3:8080/apex/f?p=110:1:2348402364576903:::::
http://micky3:8080/apex/f?p=4000:4150:2348402364576903::NO:1,4150:FB_FLOW_ID,FB_FLOW_PAGE_ID,F4000_P1_FLOW,F4000_P4150_GOTO_PAGE,F4000_P1_PAGE:110,1,110,1,1
The other one has two different Session id:
http://server:8080/apex/f?p=101:62:1071660062880508::::: (for the runtime) when i switch to dev:
http://server:8080/apex/f?p=4000:4150:3861311331076463::NO:1,4150:FB_FLOW_ID,FB_FLOW_PAGE_ID,F4000_P1_FLOW,F4000_P4150_GOTO_PAGE,F4000_P1_PAGE:101,62,101,62,62
What is the reasion for this session switch? And how can i resolve it?
PS: The reason for this question is, that i have links to shared components and tabs on my page, and in the second application in have to login again :-(
Thanks
Marco

I logon at the workspace with my username, go inside my application and click the run button. then i have to logon at the application side.If the application requires authentication, this is normal. Why would you expect that you would not have to authenticate?
i use the same use like before. One application (in another workspace) uses the session id, the other one use diffent ones.I don't understand what you are saying.
The Question (for me is) Under what circumstances where two diffent session id´s used?I don't have enough details. I will need to see it happen, perhaps on apex.oracle.com.
You might want to check your application's Home Link attribute and see that it includes &APP_SESSION. .

• Strange Difference between runtime and development mode.

Hello everyone,
I have created an add-on that adds three items to the menu which launch three different forms. When SBO is loaded and I run the code from the development environment (VB6) it works perfectly, i.e. click on one of the three new menu items and the appropriate form loads.
When I compile and register it as an add on SBO loads it correctly and it customizes the menu. However, when I click on any of the three new menu items it now gives an error message:
Run Time Error (91)
Object variable or With Block variable not set.
And then blows away the add on.
I tried trapping the error in the "Menu_Event" and got nothing. The error occurred as before with no evidence that it had been caught by my trap.
This same behavior occurs on both my development system and on the customer's production system! Both systems are 6.5 sp1 Ef 07.
Has anyone else had this problem? Any help appreciated.
Mel

Hi Mel,
I heard of a similar problem - just that the menu event did not get fired.
Do you use event filters?
Did you add the menu event to the filters collection?
Set oFilter = oFilters.Add(et_MENU_CLICK)
Though apparently this should have been mandatory, in case you use filters, from the beginning of 6.5, what I heard from another partner does not match to this information.

• Where is the built in Java runtime and development environment in my MAC???

I keep reading that my macintosh (dual G5 with OSX 10.4.10) came with a fully configured and ready-to-use Java runtime and development environment, however I cannot find, nor do I know how to open it. Doe anyone know how to open this up? thanks so much!

Your JRE should already be configured so that when you double-click a self-executing jar or open a page with an Applet it will run.
Your compiler (javac) should be available through your sheel in your terminal application.
If none of this helps you (and it may well not) you may want to consider installing an IDE. Eclipse for example has a Mac OS version, I am sure there are others but I do not develop on Mac so I can't tell you about them.

• Color shift between Library and Develop module

Hi,
I recently noticed a color shift between in the image when going from the library to the develop module. Yes, I know this is mentioned in the FAQ, but I did not find the solutions given there to be satisfactory.
Let me explain what happens: I have taken Photos with my Canon EOS 300D, in Jpeg mode with Color Space in the Camera set to AdobeRGB. The photos I am talking about were taken with Tungsten light with auto white balance and have a distinct orange color cast. I use Windows XP and view my Photos on a LCD Display calibrated with the Pantone Huey system. The Lightroom Library Module and Photoshop CS2 both display the original image almost identically (there are no changes applied inside Lightroom or Photoshop, I view the original image in both applications). Photoshop is set to use the Adobe RGB Color space as its working Color space, Softproofing is switched off. However, when I switch to the Develop Module, the colors (especially the orange hues) shift very noticably toward pink. I can only assume that the Colorspace conversion or maybe some implicit soft proof used differs between the modules. So, to restate the problem: If I switch back and forth between Library and Develop, without changing anything and in 1:1 view to avoid errors introduced by different zooming methods, the colors shift quite drastically back and forth.
I have to say that this is really quite annoying. The whole point for me to use the develop module is to use it to make adjustments to the colors, and for this to work properly I have to see the same colors in both modules and in Photoshop. There is no point in correcting a pink color cast away in Develop that is not even there in either the library module or Photoshop (and that would then have a stronger orange tint because I tried to counter the pink tint in develop).
So this leads me to the final question: Is it possible to tell Develop to use the exact same color settings as the Library Module? Or is there another way to compensate for the color shift?
I hope I was clear in what happens and what I tried to do. If it helps I can gladly provide a sample photograph that clearly illustrates the point.
Thank you in advance for your help,
Daniel

Thanks for your comments, Don and Fred. I hope that this issue will be worked on soon.
Fred, I have set the Preview Quality to High, but it doesn't seem to make any differences concerning the color shift. I have investigated this matter further by now and made the following observations:
*The color shift is a lot less noticable on my laptop (the laptop screen is also color profiled). On my laptop the change is more of a subtle shift in contrast than in color. This might be caused by the smaller color gammut of my laptop display though.
*I have uploaded a testimage so that others can check if this shift occurs at their workstations too - after all, it might be a misconfiguration of my color management software, though I doubt that (because Adobe already states that library and develop render different previews). I would be interested if the color shift I describe is noticable at other workstations too. The link to the testimage: http://www.danyx.com/colorshift.jpg (permission to use the image to test the color reproduction is of course granted hereby).
Thanks for your help, I hope Adobe will listen soon,
Daniel

• Sharpness between library and development module

for some reason, after working on photo and putting it back into library if i open the very same shot in development all the other new work will be present but the shot will look less sharp. if i flick back to library it sharpens up again. The same happens a little differently in CS6. Here, if i zoom just a litle the shot sharpens to what it should be but if come back out it softens a bit.
Bit weird really
Can anyone help ? I'd like them all to look exactly as they are shoudl obviously...
Cheers,
S

Thanks for that Bob,
the really confusing thing is that the magnification appear to be identical between the library and development module while the development module is still softer....

The general rule is that sharpening will only appear correctly at 1:1 in Lightroom, or at 100% in Photoshop. Any other magnifications are just a simulation of what the pixels would look like if you could see them all, i.e. not accurate. Bob Frost

• Can any one brief the difference between MSDN and Developer licensing

We are looking at the licensing for SQL Server for our development Team.
The scenario will be a a common DB server for entire development team.
MSDN is a user based licensce which doesn't suits for our requirement.
Any help on this with appropriate licencing will be appreciated
Thank you
Shahan

Could you please explain difference and limitation between MSDN and Developer edition
The Developer Edition is available to everybody. It costs
$59.95 in the Microsoft Store. But it's only available to be used in *development and testing* scenarios. You cannot use Developer Edition for production purposes. Developer Edition has equivalent functionality to Enterprise Edition.
Within the MSDN Library there are also media and licenses available for the other editions of SQL Server. These instances, also, are only available for development and testing scenarios, but there are scenarios in which one might wish to *TEST* against a
Standard Edition, Business Intelligence edition , or Enterprise Edition installation rather than a Developer Edition instance.
The MSDN Library subscription is licensed on a per-user basis, so anybody using those three editions (Standard, BI, Enterprise) must also hold an MSDN Subscription, or you must own SQL CALs for those users to use Std/BI/Ent editions.

• Session storage between Java and PL/SQL

Hi all,
We have made Java servlet using session storage. The data stored is valid until session is changed. Seems that session is changed during logon or even if web page (where the servlet is located) is refreshed!
PL/SQL doesn't lost the session storage data during logon. But is it possible to find Java session storage from PL/SQL session storage?
Java session storage doesn't use domain name or subdomain which are mandatory for PL/SQL session storage.

• Passing session data between jsp and servlet

I have a servlet that I pass data to my jsp.
I do a session.setAtrribute in the servlet. No problem.
I get the data no problem in the jsp that I call.
How do I pass this same data to the another servlet?
I basically have an array of values that I already have in the existing jsp that has been set in session.
When I call the secondary servlet, I don't have anything in this session variable related to my array.
Prior to posting to my next servlet, do I need to do another setAttribute inside the jsp to get the data passed to the servlet?
Thanks.

Two different things. The encoding adds this to the URL (after the page, before the query string
;jsessionid=ABC123 but only if the user isn't using cookies.
So in your example, you would do this (maybe):
<%
String url = response.encodeURL("Servlet");
%>
<form name="form1" method="post" action="<%= url %>?cmd=pay"> ... Or some modification.
So the difference between encodeing and using a post is that
1) encoding adds the jsessionid to the url string if necessary. It does nothing else
2) POSTing will send a request to the provided URL via the POST method, including the inputs of the form as parameters to the URL.
They really don't interact with each other. It is like asking what is the difference between the Color Orange and thr Size Big? They can both be applied to the same thing, or not... and have no real relation to each other.

• How can we share session information between browser and WebView

Hi
I have a web application which launches a instance of JavaFX web view on a click of a button. My issue is that when i launch this web view it creates a new session of its own ,how can you transfer the session information of the parent (browser) to the web view.
One of the solution i found was to add the JSESSION_ID cookie into the default(System-wide) cookie handler so it would override the existing cookie within the WebView cookiehandler.
http headers - Setting a cookie using JavaFX's WebEngine/WebView - Stack Overflow
Are there any other solution for sharing session information between the web view instance and browser that launches it ?

O.K. then, is it at least possible to access a wwsto_api_session
from Java in the following way?
Calling PL/SQL from Java
JDBC and SQLJ allow you to call PL/SQL stored functions and
procedures. For example, suppose you want to call the following
stored function, which returns
the balance of a specified bank account:
FUNCTION balance (acct_id NUMBER) RETURN NUMBER IS
acct_bal NUMBER;
BEGIN
SELECT bal INTO acct_bal FROM accts
WHERE acct_no = acct_id;
RETURN acct_bal;
END;
From a JDBC program, your call to the function balance might look
like this:
CallableStatement cstmt = conn.prepareCall("{? = CALL balance(?)}");
cstmt.registerOutParameter(1, Types.FLOAT);
cstmt.setInt(2, acctNo);
cstmt.executeUpdate();
float acctBal = cstmt.getFloat(1);

• Using session storage between Report and Frame Driver

I have an existing report that has a link calling a frame driver with multiple forms. I would like to make the Initial Target Frame Content dynamic based on information contained in the targeted record of the report. I am able to make this work (in basic concept) on the frame driver side, but have not been able to pass session variables from the report side. I can, of course, pass bind variables via a link from the report. Does anyone know of a way to access the parameter bind varaiables in the frame driver component using session storage or something else in order to make these variables available to the PL/Sql of the Initial Target Frame?

Seems that session is changed during logon or even if
web page (where the servlet is located) is refreshed!In Portal 10g (and maybe even in 9.0.2.6) the Web provider session is not lost any more when the user logs in to Portal.
PL/SQL doesn't lost the session storage data during
logon. But is it possible to find Java session storage
from PL/SQL session storage?No, you cannot share the session between database and Web providers. You need to find other ways to share information between portlets belonging to different providers. You can use parameter passing, or a persistent store, such as the database.
Java session storage doesn't use domain name or
subdomain which are mandatory for PL/SQL session
storage.The domain, sub-domain strings are irrelevant, as long as you can uniquely identify your session variable. For example, if you want to make sure that you have a separate session variable for every portlet instance, you should include the preference path in your domain or sub-domain. In case you want to share the session store between your portlets, don't include the unique portlet ID.

• Session Sharing between Portal and Baja servlet(UIX)

Hi guys,
I'm having real trouble trying to share a portal session with an external servlet session, in order to enable some file upload functionality. I found an older post (Re: cannot do a select on a table which mentioned a couple of pre-reqs for doing this, but they don't seem to work. I've enabled the the "Same Cookie Domain" checkbox. On checking the cookie values generated by portal, i noticed that none of them have a domain value:
Cookie name :ORA_DG2 cookie//domain : null//cooki val :mrlMP%2F8%2FMP%2F8
Cookie name :ORA_UCM_VER//cookie domain : null//cookie val :%2FMP%2F8pgqfg%2Cl_w_p%3Emp_ajc%2CamkMP%2F8neode*j%5Du%5Dn%3Ckn%5D_ha*_kiMP%2F80.3%2C005%2C21%2C%2F1MP%2F8.%2C1*..3*0%2F*-%2F
I tried setting my own cookie, but when I forward the request from portal to my (external) UIX servlet, a new session is created and all cookies are lost.
Dev env: ias102222, Jserv, with Portal 3.0.9.8
Any help will be much appreciated, I'm pretty much stuck on this one. The old post also mentioned a document to read (" See documents on session handling and Integrating Password Protected Applications into Oracle Portal - downloadable from portalstudio.oracle.com. "), but I've spent quite some time looking around on portalstudio, and haven't found it.
thanks,
rishi

Hi,
As you suggested, I took the issue up with the Cabo team, and the conclusion seems to be that either it may be a jserv bug, or something to do with JPDK. the UIX redirection code simply uses HttpServletResponse.sendRedirectURL()) for doing its work.
Sorry about the long post, thought I'd give some more info about what i'm seeing. I hope I'm doing everythng that is needed for session mgmt in PDK. I've got the "Once Per Session" box and "Same Cookie Domain" boxes checked. This is what the jserv.log looks like :
[01/05/2002 15:59:36:093 PDT] oracle.osf.UixServlet/Event = null
[01/05/2002 15:59:36:093 PDT] oracle.osf.UixServlet/Parameter portalid=24935
[01/05/2002 15:59:36:109 PDT] oracle.osf.UixServlet/Parameter [email protected]
I assume that the 'oracle.osf.UixServlet' above indicates the servlet zone, in which case the portlet UIX and the second UIX are both in the same zone. One thing i notice is that the domain cookie is always null. do it need to be explicitly set in order to have the correct value?
Here's the log from the time the first page is accessed, to the stuff printed out during the redirect. Note that 'sessid' changes after the redirect(revelent lines below are marked between '------'):

• Difference between Runtime and Desing time Mapping.

Hi ,
I have read somewhere regarding Mapping between Entity service and External Service ,In that "Both Design time mapping and Runtime mapping is same only difference in User interface".
I have worked on both Design time mapping and Runtime mapping during my work i have found difference as design time mapping we can do in NWDS and Runtime mapping we can do in CAF Runtime Configure.
Here my questions are :
Is it only the difference or anything else?
What is the advantage of Runtime mapping?
Where I can find difference of Design time mapping and Runtime mapping?
If possible explain with nice example
Thanks and Regards,
Suresh B

Hi,
Run Time Mapping: with this feature you can do mapping at run time that is after deployment of your application on the server.That is you can do mapping with out changing your souce code.But with design time mapping you have to change the source code before deployment of your application.

• URGENT-Session Synchronization between WebSEAL and WebLogic Server 6.1

Hi All,
I am a new-bee to Access Manager and WebSEAL.
I have an application running in WebLogic Server6.1.
I have WebSEAL junctioned to iPlanet Web Server, which in turn
integrates with WebLogic through NSAPI plug-in. I am using iPlanet
Directory Server as Access Manager user registry.
As per my application requirement there should be single sign on, that
is if the user gets authenticated with WebSEAL, he need not have to
login to the application and would be able to access any page. But if
he logs off the application and if he tries to access any page then he
need to again get authenticated with the WebSEAL. Here I am having a
problem.
I am not able to make the WebSEAL to through HTTP authentication
challenge again if the user logs off the application. The only way to
make webSEAL to through HTTP authentication challenge in the browser
is to close and open the browser.
I initially tried with BASIC authentication, it does not work.
Then I tried with FORM authentication. In this case webSEAL sets a
cookie called PD-H-SESSION-ID. When the user clicks the "Logoff" link
in the application, I tried to set this cookie's max age to zero, it
does not work. The max age is always set to -1 value. I even tried to
overwrite the cookie value with blank space using HttpServletResponse
setHeader method, which also didnot work.
Can anybody tell me how to make the webSEAL to through the
authentication challenge when the user logs off the application and
what kind of authentication method (BASIC or FORM) to use?
This is very urgent. Pls help?
Thanks in advance.

• Difference between projector and runtime

i'm having a problem with the navigation interface in a
fairly simple movie.
a user may click on links to take them to the next section of
the presentation.
my problem is with the rollover function of the links. i'm
using text as my buttons (eg "next", "previous" etc) and a sprite
adjacent to a button to indicate that it can be clicked when it is
rolled over. the script i'm using changes the location of the
indicator sprite relative to the locH and locV of the reg point of
the currently rolled over text.
this all works fine in runtime but when i click between
sections of the movie using the links, the indicator sprite does
one of three things:
- sticks in the location it was on the last page (annoying
and looks rubbish) for about a second and then works as desired
- sticks in the location it was on the last page until
another link has been rolled over
- works as desired
I can think of no reason why there should be a disparity
between runtime and the published projector.
I have tried to counter the problem by using a frame script
to change the blend of the indicator sprite to 0 in order to
counter the problem (ie it would still stick, but it would
effectively be invisible until the next link was rolled over) but
this only affects certain sections of the movie.
I'm sure that part of the movie is bugged so that the script
does not call the correct handler when requested, but i'm tearing
my hair out trying to find out which one!!!
any help would be greatly appreciated.

Is the indicator sprite supposed to begin on the new "page"
(frame?) off
screen? If so, are you doing this in a beginSprite event and
does the sprite
span last only as long as the "pages"?
If the sprite spans across all of these frames, are you
explicitly setting it
off-stage when the button is clicked - before it performs a
'go' command?
Is there a score transition on the new frame?
Just some thoughts.
