Difficult Hibernate Query related to dates

Hello All,
I need help with writing a query in Hibernate.
The DDL for the table i am using is given below :-
CREATE TABLE FRENCH_BATCH_DETAILS
BATCH_ID NUMBER PK,
BATCH_STARTDATE DATE NOT NULL,
BATCH_ENDDATE DATE,
BATCH_NAME NVARCHAR2(150),
The above table stores Details of French Batches for a particular Institute.
Sample Data is given below :-
BATCH_ID BATCH_STARTDATE BATCH_ENDDATE BATCH_NAME
1 9/25/2008 10/2/2008 BATCH_1
2 9/29/2008 10/10/2008 BATCH_2
3 10/5/2008 10/15/2008 BATCH_3
4 10/10/2008 10/25/2008 BATCH_4
5 10/20/2008 10/30/2008 BATCH_5
6 10/25/2008 11/5/2008 BATCH_6
7 11/1/2008 11/10/2008 BATCH_7
8 11/11/2008 11/21/2008 BATCH_8
-> The Batch End Date will always be greater than Batch Start Date
-> Batches are not added into the table in any particular ascending order.
-> Two batches may or may not be overlapping.
The functional query to be written is as below :-
If I have student_start_date = 10/10/2008
I need to search for the first Batch_StartDate >= Student_START_DATE
For 10/10/2008, batch_4 is the current batch we need.
Now we need to fetch start date and end date of two batches above this and two batches below this.
I need to display on page in a JSF datatable the start date and end date of 5 batches in total - current batch, prev two batches and next two batches.
Hibernate version: 3.2.2
Name and version of the database you are using: Oracle 10g

How is this related to JSF?

  • Query Related to dates

    Hi
    i have a table ABC in which i declared two date columns START_DATE AND END_DATE . I want to extract all the dates between these two dates which is not specified into table.
    eg
    START_DATE=12-JUN-2009
    END_DATE=15-JUN-2009
    SELECT TO_DATE(START_DATE, 'DD-MON-YYYY') - 1 + rownum AS d
    FROM ABC
    WHERE TO_DATE(START_DATE, 'DD-MON-YYYY') - 1 + rownum <= TO_DATE(END_DATE, 'DD-MON-YYYY')
    I try to do with this query its returning only one value.Please help me.
    thanks
    Nisha

    What is the purpose of having the 'rownum' value in this context. The way your query is written, the results seem bizarre.
    SELECT TO_DATE(START_DATE, 'DD-MON-YYYY') - 1 + rownum AS d
    FROM ABC
    WHERE TO_DATE(START_DATE, 'DD-MON-YYYY') - 1 + rownum <= TO_DATE(END_DATE, 'DD-MON-YYYY')
    Let's say you had five rows of data with start dates and end dates as follows:
    START_DATE END_DATE
    12-JUN-2009 15-JUN-2009
    14-JUN-2009 14-JUN-2009
    11-JUN-2009 12-JUN-2009
    15-JUN-2009 17-JUN-2009
    16-JUN-2009 19-JUN-2009
    The WHERE clause of your query subtracts one from the start date and then adds the rownum. Assuming the rows are processed in the order I've shown them*, the values being compared would be:
    Change START_DATE END_DATE
    (-1+1) 12-JUN-2009 15-JUN-2009
    (-1+2) 15-JUN-2009 14-JUN-2009
    (-1+3) 13-JUN-2009 12-JUN-2009
    (-1+4) 18-JUN-2009 17-JUN-2009
    (-1+5) 20-JUN-2009 19-JUN-2009
    The result would be only one row returned. The more rows in the table, the higher the rownum values get and the less likely that any given row will be returned.
    * Note that Oracle does not guarantee what order rows will be processed in when using rownum even when using an ORDER BY as the rownum gets determined prior to the sort.

  • Help Required -- Can we use SQL Query to READ data from SAP MDM Tables

    Hi All,
    Please help.........
    Can we use SQL Query to READ(No Creation/Updation/Deletion  just Read) Data from SAP MDM tables directly, without using MDM Syndicator.
    Or direct SQL access to SAP MDM tables is not possible. Only through MDM Syndicator can we export data.
    Thanks in Advance
    Regards

    All the tables you create in Repository comes under A2i_CM_Tables in Database named as your repository name. So the tables names are fields of table A2i_CM_Tables. Now i tried it but cant make it.
    Now, I dont think its possible to extract all fields in tables and there values using select query. May be pure sql guy can do that or not.
    But there is no relation of data extraction and syndicator. Data is viewed in Data Manager. and you can also store data in a file from DM also.

  • To Call Another Form and Save Related MAster Data from a Transaction Form

    Hi
    Our project requires that forms for creating masters be called whenever the value (Key Value) being referenced in other forms are not found. For doing this I had used the When-Validate-Item Trigger and checked for the key value in the master tables and if not present, I use the Call_Form method to call the master form and create the key value and then come back to the Form in which I was working to continue processing the rest of the data.
    It works well if the CAlling forms is in INSERT MODE but Not in UPDATE MODE ( returns a message A Calling Form has unapplied Changes, Cannot Save data (Error: FRM-40403)).
    This same feature I tried to work it out around with a Key-Next-Item Trigger, it works fine for both the cases but as long as the user tabs out of the field from keyboard controls like the Enter Key or the Tab Key. But in case he wishes to click on the next field or some other button with a mouse OR he uses a keyboard shortcut to do some other operation viz. F10 for saving data, the trigger is not fired and that returns a ORACLE error (in case a database Integration issue arises) OR saves an invalid data.
    I would like to know what kind of triggers could we write to exactly call a master form to save a new key value irrespective of whether the calling form is working in INSERT mode or QUERY Mode.
    One way to do it is to use EXIT_FORM(DO_COMMIT, NO_ROLLBACK). But if the Primary/Calling form is closed without a Commit, then the related Master DAta is also Not Saved.
    Please Let me know if we can save the master data whatever be the state of the CAlling Form permanently.
    Thanks and Regards

    You are going to need to POST in the Called Form rather than committing (and make sure that you do not rollback when you exit).
    The Post will insert the master record into the DB but it will not be committed until you issue the commit in the Calling Form.

  • Query related to datasubsetting

    hi,
    How is datasubsetting helpful in olite applications? How and in which scenarios can it be used??
    In my application I have various uses and each uses has access to particular processes, here will datasubsetting be helpful for me to give access to user. Please give me some information related to datasubsetting.
    Thanks and regard,

    Using data subsetting is primarily about only sending relevant data to a client, rather than all of it.
    Simplest example is
    Imagine you have a table of jobs on the main server, each of which has a statuys to show whether or not it is active, and also the user the job is assigned to
    If you create a publication item based on JOBS with the basic query
    SELECT * FROM JOBS
    then you will send all data within the table to the client, including jobs for all users and closed jobs - likely to be a lot of data
    If the query is
    SELECT * FROM JOBS WHERE STATUS='ACTIVE'
    then you will reduce the data downloaded by only sending the active jobs, but data for all users will still be sent
    If the query is
    SELECT * FROM JOBS WHERE STATUS='ACTIVE' AND USER=:USER (note the colon to identify the bind variable)
    you can restrict the data set to only the active jobs for a particular user.
    If you publish a publication item with a bind variable in the query string like this, you will see that in the mobile manager Users tab you will see the bind variable in the data subsetting tab to allow you to define the value for a particular user
    You can have multiple data subsetting/bind variables within a particular application for different purposes (eg: user and team).
    Another approach we use is to have publication item queries like
    SELECT * FROM JOBS STATUS='ACTIVE' AND CUSTOMER IN
    (SELECT CUSTOMER FROM CUSTOMER_ASSIGNMENTS WHERE USER=:USER)
    ie: use the results of other data in your database to drive the selection
    NOTE data subsetting variables are ALWAYS VARCHAR2, so for performance do explicit typecasting in your queries
    ie: NOT
    SELECT * FROM TABLE WHERE EMPLOYEE_NUMBER=:EMP
    rather
    SELECT * FROM TABLE WHERE EMPLOYEE_NUMBER=TO_NUMBER(:EMP)
    Need to consider a few aspects when looking at the purpose of subsetting
    1) compose and selection time is based on the complexity of the query, plus the data returned (adding a where clause may slow the query)
    2) synchronise time partly depends on the volume of data uploaded and downloaded, so large tables with no where clause will take longer, particularly on initial build
    3) some types of device (phones, PDAs etc) are limited in spece and it may not be feasible to download entire large tables
    4) the client SQL is typically less efficient at performing queries than the server. You will get better performance by only sending active jobs to the client and then querying all jobs on the client, rather than sending all data and querying for active jobs on the client

  • Query  related to the transfer of the control to the other controller.

    Hi all,
    I have a query related to the transfer of the control to the other controller.
    I have components A and B .From a view of component A I neeed to open a window which belong to component B.Problem is that ,if I use create_window_for_cmp_usage( ) and the open( ) method and after that there is some code,then that code is getting executed before the window is opening.
    I want that the control should be back to the these code after the window is poped up and  after clossing the window.
    Eg
    method ONACTIONOPEN_WINDOW .
    DATA lo_window_manager TYPE REF TO if_wd_window_manager.
      DATA lo_api_component  TYPE REF TO if_wd_component.
      DATA lo_window         TYPE REF TO if_wd_window.
      lo_api_component  = wd_comp_controller->wd_get_api( ).
      lo_window_manager = lo_api_component->get_window_manager( ).
      lo_window         = lo_window_manager->create_window_for_cmp_usage(
                         interface_view_name    = 'ZHELLO_WORLD'
                         component_usage_name   = 'USAGE_HELLO'
                       title                  =
                       close_in_any_case      = abap_true
                         message_display_mode   = if_wd_window=>co_msg_display_mode_selected
      lo_window->open( ).
      data a type i.
      data b type i.
      a = 2.
      b = 3.
      a = a + b.
    endmethod.
    In this case I am calling  ONACTIONOPEN_WINDOW method.But before opening the window the a iscalculated here.I want that after popuping  the window the calculations should be done .
    How will I achieve this.
    Thanks in advance.
    Edited by: vaibhav nirmal on Nov 25, 2008 6:42 AM

    Hi,
    You will have to do your calculation as an event in your new window, or capture the closing of the new window as an event in your currenbt view and do your calculations in the event.

  • Query related to Internal Table

    Hi ,
          I have a small query related to internal table , can we dump millions of records to an internal .
    The actual requirment is like i need to develop a report in BI side where i have to dump records into an internal table  from PSA tables without filtering .
    Can we do so ....
    or do we have any other option to dump the data to an internal tables .
    need some tips on the same .
    Thanks ,
    VInay.

    Hello Vinay,
    I believe the following extract will give you a brief idea on the size limitations for an internal table.......
    Internal tables are dynamic data objects, since they can contain any number of lines of a particular type. The only restriction on the number of lines an internal table may contain are the limits of your system installation. <u><i>The maximum memory that can be occupied by an internal table (including its internal administration) is 2 gigabytes. A more realistic figure is up to 500 megabytes. An additional restriction for hashed tables is that they may not contain more than 2 million entries.</i></u>
    Hope it proved useful
    Reward if helpful

  • Hibernate for lower case data(case sensitive) in oracle 10G

    Hi,
    I generated my data (oracle 10G release 2) using lowercase data types and table names. This requires queries in the strict form of -
    Select "Column_Name" from "Table_name";
    But Hibernate makes the queries as -
    Select Column_Name from Table_Name;
    driver I am using is oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver
    Jar is ojdbc14
    and dialect is org.hibernate.dialect.Oracle9Dialect
    The problem is:
    table or view does not exist.
    as it(lower case data) does not recognize the hibernate query format.
    Can anyone suggest the proper driver and Jar to overcome the problem.
    Regards,
    Ankit

    Ankit,
    Just bite the bullet and don't use case-sensitive identifiers :-)
    I don't use "hibernate", but maybe you can add the double-quotes -- " -- in the XML file?
    I don't think there's a JDBC driver that adds the double-quotes for you. So I think your only option (if you insist on using case-sensistive identifiers) is to explore possibilities through "hibernate" itself.
    I also don't think there's any database setting that allows Oracle to accept case-sensitive identifiers.
    Good Luck,
    Avi.

  • Inconsistent SDO_RELATE results when querying 2.5D data

    Oracle 11.1.0.7 with Patch 8343061 on Windows Server 2003 32bit.
    I'm getting inconsistent results from SDO_RELATE results when querying 2.5D data. Some geometries I expect to be OVERLAPBDYDISJOINT, are not always being returned by SDO_RELATE when using the OVERLAPBDYDISJOINT mask. It seems that the order of the tables makes a difference to the result.
    Here's a table with one 2.5D geometry and a 2D index:
    CREATE TABLE TEST1 (

    CREATE INDEX TEST2_SPIND ON TEST2(GEOMETRY) INDEXTYPE IS MDSYS.SPATIAL_INDEX PARAMETERS ('layer_gtype=line sdo_indx_dims=2');Now if I check how these two geometries relate to each other, the answer is OVERLAPBDYDISJOINT, which makes sense when inspecting the geometries.
    SQL> SELECT
      2  sdo_geom.relate(t1.geometry, 'determine', t2.geometry,  0.0005) relate_1_to_2,
      3  sdo_geom.relate(t2.geometry, 'determine', t1.geometry,  0.0005) relate_2_to_1

    RELATE_1_TO_2        RELATE_2_TO_1
    OVERLAPBDYDISJOINT   OVERLAPBDYDISJOINT
    1 row selected.So, I'd expect this query to return something...
    SELECT /*+ ORDERED */ t1.id, t2.id, sdo_geom.relate(t1.geometry, 'determine', t2.geometry,  0.0005) relate
    FROM test2 t2, test1 t1
    WHERE sdo_relate(t1.geometry, t2.geometry, 'mask=overlapbdydisjoint') = 'TRUE'
    AND t1.id = 1
    AND t2.id = 1;Nada. And this...
    SELECT /*+ ORDERED */ t1.id, t2.id, sdo_geom.relate(t1.geometry, 'determine', t2.geometry,  0.0005) relate
    FROM test1 t1, test2 t2
    WHERE sdo_relate(t2.geometry, t1.geometry, 'mask=overlapbdydisjoint') = 'TRUE'
    AND t1.id = 1
    AND t2.id = 1;Nada.
    And this...
    SQL> SELECT /*+ ORDERED */ t1.id, t2.id, sdo_geom.relate(t1.geometry, 'determine', t2.geometry,  0.0005) relate
      2  FROM test2 t2, test1 t1
      3  WHERE sdo_relate(t2.geometry, t1.geometry, 'mask=overlapbdydisjoint') = 'TRUE'
      4  AND t1.id = 1
      5  AND t2.id = 1;
            ID         ID RELATE
             1          1 OVERLAPBDYDISJOINT
    1 row selected.This version gives the right answer.
    Can anyone explain this?

    Hi,-
    I think you are running into these bugs 7158518 and 7710726.
    Could you please request the patch for the bugs so that they are published on Metalink
    if they dont exist there?
    Please let us know if these fix your problem.

  • Regarding ABAP Query related

    Hi,
      Can any body tell me how to keep query related data in
    internal table?
    Regards,
    Suresh Kumar.

    Do you mean that you are running a SQ01 query and you want to get the data from it into your report program?
    If this is the case, the normal way that we pass internal tables and stuff from program to program, is thru IMPORT/EXPORT statements.  But since you are talking about a query this may be a problem in adding the EXPORT statement to it.

  • Query for spatial data with a GeometryCollection fails

    There are exact 538 CurvePolygons (only exterior rings at this
    sample). All of them are valid geometries and equal in dimension
    and so on. Now I connect them to a GeometryCollection and query
    for other relating spatial data in some tables. It seems that
    the use of around (not exact!) 200 CurvePolygon in one
    GeometryCollection works fine but the adding of more
    CurvePolygon result in an error with the Spatial Index (I could
    add the ORA- error numbers if I have some data in my test tables
    again next days).
    Is there anybody else having trouble with these mysterious
    problem? Maybe there is a border by the number of points in
    GeometryCollection?
    (More details, programming code could be delivered)
    (working with Java 1.3.1, oracle.sdoapi.*, Oracle 8.1.7.)

    Hi Lutz,
    Could you provide more info or samples of what is going wrong?
    Also, could you try making sure the geometry you are passing in
    as the query window is valid (i.e. instead of passing it in as a
    query window, pass it into sdo_geom.validate_geometry).
    Thanks,
    Dan

  • Hi  all......................i have a query related to spl bus process

    hi all hero's,
    i have a query related to spl bus process.
    while configuration of spl bus process there is no any problem and while it comes to billing
    a ticket will rise and its integration with fi-sd  and i e
    missing data G/L account.
    can any body solve it plz
    regards,
    balaji

    G/L assignment requires to be maintained in T.Code VKOA.
    If you check where the error is:
    T.Code: VF02 - Enter Billing Document Number --> "(on the topmost Blue line) Environment --> Account Determination analysis --> Revenue Account.
    Here  you will get all the condition type & you can analyse where theerror is.

  • Getting data in a query on last date of all previous months

    Dear Experts,
    I need your help with a query.
    I am trying to create a query which when run should pick the number of Open Sales Order on the last date of all the previous months from the start of company.
    I could create the query for fetching the required data on last day of the previous month, say today is 25th June 2014, so my query only fetches data for May 31st 2014 but I need data for all previous month, May 31st 2014, April 30th 2014, March 31st 2014 & so on.
    Please advise how to achieve this is SQL query.

  • POWER QUERY Get External Data From File From Folder (Excel 2013)

    Hi,
    Beginner's question :
    What could be the use of the query on a folder : we just get a list of files with their path. What can we do with that?
    Thanks

    Hi,
    Do you want to combine data from multiple Excel Files in the same folder path into one table? If I understand correct, we can add a custom column to import the data.
    After we getting a list of files with their path, the Query Editor window will activate to show you a table containing a record for each file in the chosen directory. These will provide our function with the needed FilePath and FileName parameters.
    Function sample: File name([Folder path],[Field name]
