Beginner's question :
What could be the use of the query on a folder : we just get a list of files with their path. What can we do with that?

Hi,
Do you want to combine data from multiple Excel Files in the same folder path into one table? If I understand correct, we can add a custom column to import the data.
After we getting a list of files with their path, the Query Editor window will activate to show you a table containing a record for each file in the chosen directory. These will provide our function with the needed FilePath and FileName parameters.
Function sample: File name([Folder path],[Field name]

Hi all,
I have a requirement to load my data into three different data models using Power Query. Is that possible?
My source is a SharePoint survey list, with similar questions like:
1) Course lecturer - John Doe
1a) The course was useful (rate 1 to 5)
1b) The lecturer displayed good knowledge of topic (rate 1 to 5)
2) Course Lecturer - Mary Brown
2a) The course was useful (rate 1 to 5)
2b) The lecturer displayed good knowledge of topic (rate 1 to 5)
I would like to split the data into separate data models (one for John Doe; another for Mary Brown), so that I can compare the different lecturers. Other than running separate surveys for each of them, I thought of using Power Query to transform the data.
Is it possible?

Yes, this is possible.
Start with a single query that returns you the data for all lecturers.
Right-click on the "all lecturers" query in the queries pane, and choose Reference, once for each lecturer. This will create a query for each lecturer.
Open the query for each lecturer and filter the data so that only that lecturer's results are visible.
Click "Close & Load To..." for each lecturer's query to load the data into the data model. This will create a data model table for each lecturer.
If your question is more about how to transform such a survey list into a table that can be easily filtered, please provide an example of how the list shows up in Power Query.

I have the following excel records as a source for my Webi Report:
Excel 1
Excel 2
Date
Month
Month
Year
Year
Total Number of Days
in Month
No. Of Exec
Functional
Area
Now I need to show No. of executions/Total Number of Days in Month per functional area (Where Month of Excel 1 is Month of Excel 2).
For this:
I have Merged, Month of Excel 1 and Month of Excel 2, Year of Excel 1 and Year of Excel 2.
Created a variable vNoofExec , No. of Exec/Total Number of Days in Month.
Created a graph, with Merged Month, Merged Year, vNoofExec with Region Color on 'Functional Area'.
But, it doesn't work.
If I replace vNoofExec with No. Of Exec I get the data, but not with vNoofExec.
Any Idea how we can get a solution for this?

I tried putting them in a table to see if I am getting the value for vNoofExec but, no, I am not getting. Here is the dummy data for both the excels:

What I found is, if I create a measure like, [No. of Exec] where ([Functional Area]="FA1") and use this measure in the graph I am able to see the data even if I use Total Days in the Graph, but, I cannot create multiple measures like this because for me number of Functional Areas will be changing always.

            I have done an application on how to export the table data into an Excel .
Now i want to get the data from an Excel file which is located in server and display that data which is in excel in a View for example a Sample view in Webdynpro .
In Sample view i took a uielement textview to display the data ....
can any one help how to procced further

I presented to my Oracle consultant and representative from Oracle Malaysia. They said impossible. I do not believe what they said. I do believe can be done.
Can someone help or direct me to an expert that can help me on this

We don't know where you posted said query.
We don't know what "some answer and reference" you received "from the forum."
We don't know what it was that your "Oracle consultant and representative from Oracle Malaysia" said was "impossible".
So on what basis are we supposed to "help or direct" to "to an expert that can help "?

How to get purchasing data from SAP R/3 to Flat files

Please can anyone help me to get the data from Purchasing extractors (2LIS_02_ITM, 2LIS_02_SCL, 2LIS_02_S012) to flat files? Here we dont want to load data from R/3 to BW for reporting, wanted to load data from flat files to OWB (Oracle warehouse builder) for reporting. So Is there anyway to generate data into flat files from Purchasing extractors (Full and deltas)?

What is the easiest way to get the data from the mailmerge to form Pages files that can be saved separately?

Using Iwork 09 I have spent several hours setting up a mail merge from a spread sheet in Numbers to create receipts for my customers from a Pages template.
After the merge I am left with one long Pages document that will not save as separate files; one per customer, it will only save the whole document of several receipts.
What is the easiest way to get the data from the mailmerge to form Pages files that can be saved separately?

You will probably be more pleased with the iWork apps when you begin to learn your way around. Until you learn such basic things as how to print only one page of a document, you will probably continue to be disappointed.

Accessing External Data from SharePoint 2010

I want to access external data from my SharePoint site.
I'm told that I need to follow these two articles.

I followed the first article but I get this error when I open the external list in my SharePoint site:
"Unable to display this Web Part. To troubleshoot the problem, open this Web page in a Microsoft SharePoint Foundation-compatible HTML editor such as Microsoft SharePoint Designer. If the problem persists, contact your Web server administrator."
I don't know how to write a custom code
BTW I have installed PowerPivot on my SharePoint server.
Can someone please help me? I need to do this very quickly.

Can you please elaborate whether the data you are getting is from excel file or from database.
1. If you are populating it from excel , then you can use the Excel service, Power pivot etc mechanism.
2. If you are getting it from SQL database then you can use BCS service application and use the OOTB external list and content type to display the same in your home page.

You would get hierarchical data from a functrion in the same way as you would any data. Create a function returning a cursor and then use your SQL statement to open the cursor. Very simplistically:
Create Function My_Func Return Sys_Refcursor As
   l_cur Sys_Refcursos
Begin
   Open l_cur For
      'select EMPNO,ENAME,SYS_CONNECT_BY_PATH(ename, '/') "Path"
       from EMP
       start with MGR is null

Then, whatever calls the function would walk through the cursor an do whatever.

You can expose the APIs in the Non-SAP backend as Web Services, and consume them in SAP by creating an Enterprise Proxy. Then these can be called just like normal class methods from Web Dynpro.

what is desc? is it the file name ? whats the data type of desc in db? INFILE?
if desc is just the name of the file, then make sure that such a file exists in the proper folder.only then the link works..
that is, if desc is 'a.jpg' then a.jpg should be existing in the same folder as your html is.

Get the Data from a DataSource

I start with JMF. I use a processor to get DataSource from an audio file. Until there, all runs very well.
But after that, I would like to get the raw data of my DataSource to aplly a filter on these data and after that, to create a new DataSource with filters data and play these data with my processor.
I searched in the API documentation of JMF but I did'nt find the solution to get the raw data of my DataSource !
Someone could help me ? and give me an idea of how to proceed ?

You might want to look at the POI project (an open source Jakarta sub-project) that allows you to create/modify/read excel files via Java code. That might be more flexible and easier than what you're currently trying to do.
