Dimension Hierarchy - preferred drill down in 11.1.1.5

Hi
I am using the preferred drill down to navigate from one dim hierarchy, to another hierarchy but, it works for some time, then it fails to some.
here is the clear explanation:
dim h1 = region -- > area--->shop number->id1
dim h2= room number ->id2
dim h3= m/c number --> m/c id3
i am trying to build drill down to region - >area-> shop number - > room number - > m/c number
for this i added the preferred drill path from id1 --> room total
and then i added the preferred drill path from id2 --> m/c number
this works for some of them and not for all.
why is this behaviour? does any one face this problem at all...or is that just me...
Please help, little urgent...
Thanks in advance.

Its working...all times....
we dont have data related to that....so it got failed....
Cheers,
Mani.

  • Reporting by org hierarchy with drill down by each level of reports to...

    Hello,
I'm trying to determine how to aggregate reporting by org hierarchy. Utlimately to report on opportunities at the highest level (CEO; all opportunities below CEO) then a second drill down report that shows summary by Level 2 (all those who report to the CEO), then again by Level 3 drill down which would be those who report to somone in Level 2. In all instances I want the report to show all records that ultimately roll up to that level (thus include direct reports alll of their direct and indirect reports )
    Level 1
    CEO $10,000,000 200 Optys
    Level 2
    Sales Leader 1 $ 3,000,000
    Sales Leader 2 $ 2,000,000
    Sales Leader 3 $ 1,500,000
    Sales Leader 4 $ 3,500,000
    Level 3
<ul><li>- rollup of all that report to Sales Leader 1 (and so on) aggregated by first level of direct reports ($3,000,000)
         Sales Mgr 1.1 $ 1,000,000
         Sales Mgr 1.2 $ 500,000
         Sales Mgr 1.3 $ 750,000
         Sales Mgr 1.4 $ 250,000</li>
    </ul>
I'd appreicate any help you can send my way.
    Thanks, Aaron

    Hi Aaron,
I have come across this and found that using the "Reports To" hierarchy and "Territory Team" hierarchy are not sufficient. I implemented this as a solution for one of our clients and it works very well:
I have modified the user entity and renamed 4 standard fields:
    •     Business Unit renamed to "Primary Line of Business"
    •     Business Unit Level 1 renamed to "BU Group"
    •     Business Unit Level 2 renamed to "Business Unit"
    •     Business Unit Level 3renamed to "Team"
Not all fields go through into analytics so I had to use these fields which are available in the Opportunity-Product History subject area. The downside is that they have to be text boxes so restrict access to who can populate these. From this you can get 4 hierarchy levels and drill from one to the next. The record owner then becomes the lowest level in your report and it can look something like this:
    Level 1
    Primary Line of Business
    Level 2
    BU Group
    BU Group
    Level 3
    Business Unit
    Business Unit
    Business Unit
    Level 4
    Team
    Team
    Team
    Team
    Level 5
    Sales Person 1
    Sales Person 2
    Sales Person 3
    Sales Person 4
    Sales Person 5
Obviously it would appear side by side in the report..
    Thanks

  • Time characteristic hierarchy in drill down report

    Hello Experts,
I try to modify the standard drilldown report in CJE2 - 001/12KST1C. It contains selection characteristic Period/year. Is it possible to add hierarchy to this characteristic? Ie. I want to be able to select year and drill down to period, simlilar like with WBS elements in the project. Currently it is possible to select one period but not the whole year.
    Regards
    Jiri

To bring the WBS elements drill down, include object type in the chracteristics of the report.
Regarding the year, I am not sure of bringing it in charaterisctics of report. But you can do awork around by including From period/year and To period/Year as characterictics in the form of that report and making it as entry in the initial screen.By this way you can get each year's report, only thing is you have to exit the report screen for different years.

  • Same dimension twice as drill down

    Hii
Is it possible to have one dimension more than once in a report as drill downs? Now I have one dimension called BRANCH, which has levels region, area and branch. I want to drill down based on region, area and branch separately.
Is it possible? Please help me..
    Aneesh

    Hi Magnus,
If you had Order No. as the first element in your Webi table and Parent ID in the second.
Then you use the Analysis - Outline feature (which is like Groups / Sub Gruops in Excel).
The down side of this is that you can only open up one Order No. at a time!
    With regards

  • Performancepoint Hierarchy Disable Drill Down Level on changing Column name in MDX query

    Hello All,
I have created a report in Performance Point dashboard designer but when I change Column name (Measure Name) in MDX query this causes all the built-in ad hoc

  • Action Link in obiee 11g for a Hierarchy Drill Down Level

    Hi
    Requirement is:
We have a Time Dimension Hierarchy with drill down Levels(Year, Qtr, Month, Day). So now i wanted to provide an action link on detailed column(day) which will navigate to other report. I have tried doing it but unable to get the actual solution.
Can anyone throw some ideas on how to achieve this.
    Thank You

    Hi,
Can u tell me whats the error you r getting over ther,
Use the hierarchy flow, starts with the + symbol,
edit the column properties and go for interaction tab and give action link + drill
check the columns between the 2 reports and assign prompts between the reports then you can get the correct one.

  • Drill down in obiee 10g

    Hi All,
Is there any way when we drilldown a column instead of moving columns to the right side, we need it the columns to be moved to the bottom.
    Fro Example
    Country 4000
When we click on Country basically it wil give
    Country State1 300
    ........... State2 200 etc...
    But we need
    Country 4000
    State1 300
    State2 200
    State3 100 etc..
Again en we click on any state then it should be ike
    Country 4000
    State1 300
    ..District1 50
    ..District2 45
    ..district3 22 etc..
Like the dimension hierarchy level drill down in 11g.
    https://blogs.oracle.com/robreynolds/entry/obiee_11g_new_feature_-_hierar
    Thanks

No, there's no way to do this in 10g. Hierarchical columns allow this, but they were first introduced in 11g.

  • Drill Down Functionality in Report.

    Hello Gurus,
I have one requirement where end user want to use drill down functionality for OBIEE reports. we are using 10.1.3.4.1 version rite now.
Now what user wants is he want to drill down from Country -->State --> County -->City --> Zip code, Street Address, House #.
Now in Obiee we can build the dimension hierarchy in BMM to achive the goal, But if you see the last level of hierarchy they want to see 3 Columns (Zip code, Street Address, House #) when they drill down from City...
Now in Obiee We can use prefered drill down path only for one column, how do i develop the functionality they shows 3 Columns in last drill down???

    Hi
Select all the three columns as drill down keys in the city. This should resolve.
No need to create separate hierarchy.
    Hope this helped/ answered.

  • Essvbase Drill down

Is it possible to drill down to Relational databases from Essbase hierarchy instead of navigation?
I have an Essbase dimension called "Time" that is spread accross four generations. The last generation Gen4 is month. I have the day details in the Fact table.
I established relationship between essbase and relational in LTS and i am able to navigate from essbase to realational sources. But is there a way to Drill down instead of navigation?? Can i make use of the Essbase hierarchy to drill down to realational fact details from Gen-4(It is the lowest level in essbase time dimension)??
    Please advice....

  • Howto drill down to different hirerachies

    Hi all
I have a geography dimension with 4 different type of hierarchies. In the business model those 4 hierarchies share the same parent(WorldWide) and the same lowest level(Store).
In the presentation model I create those 4 hierarchies by dupplicating the parent level and the lowest level.
When I test my report I notice that from the parent level(WW) I always drill down to the same hierarchy even if i'm in a different hierarchy.
My question : is it possible to define to wich hierarchy the drill down must occure.
If it's not possible howto disable the parent level drill down?

Unfortunaltly it's not what I need I already saw this post.
I succeed to find a solution temporally i disabled the drill down link in the report by using javascript
this is the link if someone need it

  • Discoverer Report - Drill down

    Hi Friends,
initially I have executed the discoverer report and got the data in 5 min, but when I am trying to drill down for some column the same report It is re-executing the query again. Actually while doing drill down it should not re-execute the query.
Kindly suggest is there any setting/solution for the same.
    Regards
    Pankaj

Are you drilling down by choosing the 'drill to related item' or something like that?
Or are you using a hierarchy that you've set up already?
I'm asking as I've never like the drill-down concept in Disco in that you get all columns back in another worksheet that's totally ugly and not end user friendly.
However, when I've set up a hierarchy and drilled down the hierarchy it just opens the new rows within the level I'm at in the same worksheet and doesn't seem to take any more time.

  • Drill Down in Dimension hierarchy in 11g......

  • URGENT: Issue with hierarchy level keys and report drill down

    Hi,
    BASIC STRUCTURE:
I have created a subject area with 3 facts (FACT_A, FACT_B, FACT_C) and 4 dimesnions (TIME_DIM,DIM_2,DIM_3,DIM_4). Each fact table also has additional aggregate tables aggregated along levels of the time dimension. Also our timw dimension has aggregated dimension tables like TIME_DIM_WEEK, TIME_DIM_MONTH, TIME_DIM_QUARTER and TIME_DIm_YEAR.
    GOAL:
All 3 facts have the same measures M_1 and M_2 in them but may not have data for the same dimension values selected.
    For example
For month JAN 2000 FACT_A.M1=100$ and no data exists for JAN 2000 in FACT_B and FACT_C. Then in the report
for JAN2000 it should show FACT_A.M1= $100, FACT_B.M1 = 0 and FACT_C.M1 =0. In this case I should be able to drill down to the lowest level.
    ISSUE:
The time dimension TIME_DIM has the following levels - Total -> Year -> Quarter -> Month -> Week -> Day
However I am having an issue with drill down in the reports whenever I pull metrics from more than 1 fact at a time. I have defined the level keys but not sure if I need to do anything in addition since I am using aggregates.
I have to fix this issue quickly. Please help me.

    Alastair,
All the fact tables have aggregated facts as sources.
I have checked the levels set for each of the sources to the time dimesnion table in BMM and they look okay. So the Time dim table in BMM has 4 source tables
Time_Day (level set to day, table key is "day"),
Time_month (level set to month, table key is "Fiscal_Month_Code"),
Time_Quarter(level set to quarter, table key is "Fiscal_Quarter_Code") and
Time_Year(level set to year, table key is :Fiscal_Year_Code").
Note: No time week aggregate added as logical source.
Again the time dim hierarchy based off of this table has levels: Total -> Year ->quarter -> Month -> week -> day
The levels keys set for each level are
Year -> Primary key is Year_Name (YYYY)(Checked as chronological key) and another key is Year_Num (YYYY)(Checked as chronological key)
Quarter->Primary Key is Quarter_Name (YYYY Qn), another key is Quarter_Number (Format n where n can assum values 1,2,3,4). Both keys are set as chronological keys
Month -> Primary key is Month_Name (MON YYYY), another key is Month_Num (Format n where n can assume values from 1 to 12) Both keys are set as chronological keys
Week -> Primary Key is week name (YYYY Wk nn, where nn can have values from 1 to 53), another key is week num (nn, where nn can have values from 1 to 53)
Day -> primary key set to day (date format)
Issue1: When I try to drill to lower levels it throws out an error saying report cannot find any data because filters may be too restrictive even though I see data at higher level
For ex: If I drill down to Year: 2010 and Qtr: 2010 Q2 and M1:$100 when I click on Qtr to drll to month level it throws me the error
Issue2: when I add year and qtr colums to the report I see data as below which is incorrect
    Year_Name Qtr_Name data:FACTA_M1 Data: FactB_M1
    2009 2009 Q1 $10 $5
    2009 2009 Q2 $20 $80
    2009 2009 Q3 $20
    2009 2009 Q4 $30
    2010 2010 Q1 $100
    2010 Q2 $101
    2010 Q3 $102 $230
    2010 Q4 $103
    2011 Q1 $10
In the above example year_name is not showing up for 2010 Q2 and after. However if I change the primary key for level 'Quarter' by having key consist of year name and quarter name instead of just quarter name the issue doesnt occur and drill down works great. The only issue is when I drill from qtr it first shows year name and quarter name instead of showing the next level which would be month name.
Sorry about the long message but I thought you might notice something in how I have set up the keys.
    Thanks

  • Problem with drill down in time dimension - OBIEE 11G

    Hello There,
I have a problem with drill down in time dimension. The hierarchy for time dimension is " Fiscal Year---> Fiscal Quarter---> Month(Name)--->Date". When I select a Time dimension and click results its getting opened in a Pivot table view. The problem here is, when I click the "Total" its getting drilled down to Year ---> Quarter but when I click on "+ sign next to quarter" it should drill down to month for that particular quarter for that particular year but its drilling down to month for that particular quarter for all years.
    Any suggestions are much appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Harry.

    1.) Congrats for resurrecting a year-old thread.
2.) Your answer is here: "Check the level key of the quarter level...it should include both quarter and year columns. Since a specific quarter occurs every year, quarter column alone can't be used as the level key."
