Dimension Mapping in 11g. Can Where clause be used to filter source table?

Hi,
Is it possible to use a where clause filter when mapping a dimension to source table in AWM 11g
My understanding of the user guide is that filters can only be used in cube mapping?
I am using AWM 11.2.0.1.0A on db 11g R2.
I presume I could use a database view on the source table to filter down to the records for the dimension, however, I understand this would then prevent me refreshing any cube using this dimension using materialized view refresh?
Thanks

Yes, you can apply a where clause on a dimension map, but it is not exposed through AWM. You would need to add an attribute to the XML of the form
WhereClause='<source table condition>'For example, you could add this to a HierarchyLevelMap.
<HierarchyLevelMap
  WhereClause="CUSTOMER_DIM.SHIP_TO_ID = 123"
  KeyExpression="CUSTOMER_DIM.SHIP_TO_ID"
  Query="CUSTOMER_DIM">
</HierarchyLevelMap>Make sure you add it to all relevant levels in a hierarchy. E.g. all levels that share the same source table. This is compatible with MV refresh. You can also map it to a view containing the where clause, and that, too, should work with MV refresh.

  • Dynamic query in where clause while looping in an internal table.

    Hi,
    Had a small question : How can i make a dynamic query for the WHERE clause while looping at an internal table.
    i want to implement a dynamic where clause query for the below example.
    it_cfx_col is an internal table and wa_cfx_col is a work area for it_cfx_col
      DATA :
      i_cfx_col TYPE TABLE OF cfx_col,
      wa_cfx_col LIKE LINE OF i_cfx_col.
    DATA : count TYPE i VALUE 0.
    DATA : l_where_clause TYPE string,
             l_where_clause2 TYPE string,
             l_name type string.
    l_name = 'NANDANOM'.
    l_scenario = 'collaboration'.
    LOOP AT it_cfx_col INTO wa_cfx_col
    WHERE CREATED_BY = l_name
    AND SCENARIO = l_scenario.
    count = count + 1.
    some business logic implemented using the work area wa_cfx_col
    endloop.
    Now i want to write a dynamic query for the where clause.
    DATA : count TYPE i VALUE 0.
      DATA : l_where_clause TYPE string,
             l_where_clause2 TYPE string,
             l_name type string.
    l_name = 'NANDANOM'.
    l_scenario = 'collaboration'.
      l_where_clause = 'CREATED_BY = l_name'.
      l_where_clause2 = 'AND SCENARIO = l_scenario'.
    if l_scenario is not initial.
      CONCATENATE  l_where_clause l_where_clause2
      INTO l_where_clause SEPARATED BY space.
    endif.
    LOOP AT i_cfx_col INTO wa_cfx_col
    WHERE (l_where_clause).
    count = count + 1.
    some business logic implemented using the work area wa_cfx_col
    endloop.
    when i compile this i get an error message as { Statement concluding with "...(l_where_clause)" ended unexpectedly}
    Even i changed the initilization of the variable  l_where_clause2 to [ l_where_clause2 = 'AND SCENARIO = l_scenario.'. ]
    added the end of line demarkation ".", but still i got the same error message.
    Is it a limtation in ABAP that i cannot write a dynamic query for the where clause while looping at an internal table?
    Regards,
    om

    Hi savita,
    there in no such 1 limitaion in abap for dynamic query .. i think the  error meassge is only beacuse of your synatx delcartaion.
    >> LOOP AT i_cfx_col INTO wa_cfx_col
       WHERE (l_where_clause).
       count = count + 1.
    some business logic implemented using the work     area    wa_cfx_col
       endloop.
    afted delclarataion also , in the where statement you should specify both the field name and value bname
       LOOP AT i_cfx_col INTO wa_cfx_col
       WHERE l_where_clause = 'CREATED_BY = l_name' .
       count = count + 1.
    hope it helps.

  • Where clause as a string in a table - how can i use...

    Table Name : WhereTable
    =======================
    QueryNo          WhereClause
    101          '&student.rno = 10 and &class.cid = 20'
    202          ..........
    I have some other tables and I joined all those to prepare a query.
    From the above query I get QueryNo.
    Based that query no. I need to fetch the where clause from the WhereTable.
    Then I need to use this where clause in this query itself to filter more.
    How can I do this.
    Please dont suggest PLSQL blocks for this, as I need to create a view with this query.
    It is something like this:
    select some_result from student, class, WhereTable
    where student.cid = class.cid and
    student.QueryNo = WhereTable.QueryNo and
    WhereTable.WhereClause

    Not sure about your actual requirements but here is something to play with:
    michaels>  create table wheretable (queryno, whereclause)
    as select 1, '&emp.empno = 7788 and &dept.deptno = 20' from dual
    Table created.

    What I want to do is firstly filtering the table by using date range followed by other things. How can I do it?
    Any clue or help would be highly appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.

    It seems that Oracle filter the table by using 'online_users_result in (1, -1)' first, then access it through date range. No it's not.
    What I want to do is firstly filtering the table by using date range followed by other things. How can I do it?That's precisely what it's doing now.
    It is using the T_IDX index to quickly find all rows that satisfy the range predicate on the date column.
    And then filter those rows to only retrieve the ones that satisfy the other predicate (... in (1,-1)).

  • Additional where-clause for LOV in 9i needs table-alias

    We have upgraded from 6.0 to 9i. All our Forms had been generated for 100% using Headstart. Now we try to generate them all again and encounter a problem with the list of values. It appears that the Additional restriction in the List of Values Properties always needs the table-alias to work properly when references are made to an item in the form.
    For example:
    We have item ORG_CODE in block ORG and have a lov showing all others organisations. The default-where coded in 6.0 looked like this:
    org_code <> :org.org_code
    In 6.0 this worked perfectly. However, in 9i the where-clause is being translated into
    :org.org_code <> :org.org_code
    Offcourse the lov now always gives the message that it contains no entries!
    We have found a solution for this problem - rewrite the where-clause to
    lov_alias.org_code <> :org.org_code
    However, this solution means that we have to check tens, hundreds of lov's, because we never used to put an alias in the where-clause.
    Because of this problem 95% of our Forms can not be generated anymore.
    Anyone has a easy solution for this problem?

    I mean:
    select * from T-A, T-B
    where T-A.id = T-B.id (+)
    and T-B.number (+) = 570
    to get the null record you'll have to do:
    select * from T-A, T-B
    where T-A.id = T-B.id (+)
    and nvl(T-B.number,0) (+) not in (0,570)
    or
    select * from T-A, T-B
    where T-A.id = T-B.id (+)
    and (T-B.number (+) <> 570
    or T-B.number (+) is null)
    hope that works (untested)

  • Filter Records in WHERE clause iReports using values passed from a prgram

    I have searched for iReports manual and what i can see are docs on sale. I have managed to create jrxml file, execute it in jsp and actually view the report.
    Now i have a big list of customers from various branches and have various categories. I would like to know how to pass the parameters so that i retrieve a small list of items. e.g. WHERE cu.branch=200 AND cu.category=10. That is i would like to pass 20 and 10 to the jrxml query stored.
    In iReports i saw parameters, variables and fields but it seems like these are displayable fields.
    How will i achieve this. Am seeking for assistance.

    there is no variable 'some_array' in what you posted.
    If you want help with your code you have to post the code you are really using, not some hacked-up version of it that has errors.
    Here is sample code that shows how to treat a collection as a table using the TABLE operator
    -- type to match emp record
    create or replace type emp_scalar_type as object
      (EMPNO NUMBER(4) ,
       ENAME VARCHAR2(10),
       JOB VARCHAR2(9),
       MGR NUMBER(4),
       HIREDATE DATE,
       SAL NUMBER(7, 2),
       COMM NUMBER(7, 2),
       DEPTNO NUMBER(2)
    -- table of emp records
    create or replace type emp_table_type as table of emp_scalar_type
    declare
    tb emp_table_type;
    deptnoList sys.OdciNumberList;
    BEGIN
    select emp_scalar_type(empno, ename, job, mgr, hiredate, sal, comm, deptno)
    bulk collect into tb from emp;
    SELECT deptno bulk collect
    INTO deptnoList
    FROM dept where deptno not in (select deptno from table(tb));
    for i in 1..deptnoList.count loop
    dbms_output.put_Line(deptnoList(i));
    end loop;
    END;Note that tb is a collection and is useds in the subquery 'select deptno from table(tb)'.

  • Where-Clause-Question using "sets of values"

    Hello,
    I'm using 10gR2
    Is it possible to filter rows by using sets of values in the where-clause?
    E.g. like:
    SELECT a, b, c
      FROM mytable
      WHERE (b,c) IN
          (3,4),
          (6,7),
          (9,1),
          (0,2)
        )...should only retrieve rows from mytable with the sets (pairs) of above list

    Here is a link to the docs: [Expression Lists|http://download-uk.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/server.102/b14200/expressions014.htm#i1033664]
    !http://download-uk.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/server.102/b14200/img/expression_list.gif!
    The number of expressions in each set must match the number of expressions before the operator in the comparison condition or before the IN keyword in the membership condition.

  • How can I import data using .dmp into the table which has more columns then in import

    I am building the history for warehouse purpose on Oracle 8i database and want to use the old import (.dmp) files (from oracle 7.3.4) to import data but the underlying table is having few more columns which are not in my old DMP file .. how can I import the data into these altered tables while using the same *.imp files .
    Any solutions ?

    That is the most obvious solution .. but think of the case when my operational database which is the source of my data is undergoing changes every quarter i.e after every 3 months there are some changes on underlying table structures which means structures of my import files will always be different after evry quarter .. you can imagine the number of temporary import structures I need to create .. can't there be a solution wherein I can write an SQL over the import file to read the data in required format ..

  • JDeveloper 11g: Can System.console be used with the JDev debug window

    The version of JDev should not matter for this problem.
    I am working on a console application that I would like to debug from within JDev. Unfortunately, System.console does not detect the JDev debug window as a valid Console object.
    Running the following will return null;
    Console console = System.console();My code works fine if run from an actual command window.
    The main reason that I was using Console was for readPassword.
    Does anyone know of a way to get this to work?
    Should I ditch this and go with BufferedReader or Scanner?

    Thanks for replying so quickly Shay!
    Yes, I did enable "Allow Program Input". Unfortunately that never worked with Console.
    BufferedReader works just fine though.
    I really only wanted to use Console because it bundled up readPassword. I most likley will have to go with BufferedReader or Scanner if I wish to debug within JDev.

  • Is `WHERE` clause pointless inside a sub-select?

    WHERE is part of the definition of a sub-select:
    [WITH [<calc-clause> ...]]
    SELECT [<axis-spec> [, <axis-spec> ...]]
    FROM [<identifier> | (< sub-select-statement >)]
    [WHERE <slicer>]
    [[CELL] PROPERTIES <cellprop> [, <cellprop> ...]]
    < sub-select-statement > :=
    SELECT [<axis-spec> [, <axis-spec> ...]]
    FROM [<identifier> | (< sub-select-statement >)]
    [WHERE <slicer>]I understand that a subselect does not reduce dimensionality or set context.
    If overall context of a script is not driven via a sub-select then is there ever a point in using this WHERE clause in the subselect?
    An example in Adventure Works:
    SELECT
    [Measures].[Order Count] ON 0
    [Geography].[Country] * [Product].[Category] ON 1
    FROM
    SELECT
    [Geography].[Country].[Australia] ON 0
    FROM [Adventure Works]
    WHERE
    [Product].[Category].[Bikes]

    Hi WhyTheQ,
    According to your description, you want to know if the Where clause is working when the main select statement is not driven via the sub-select. Right?
    In MDX, Where clause is used for defining slicer axis so that only the data intersecting the with the specified member will be returned. It will work in the sub-select to restrict the data. However, the return result from sub-select should match
    the set on your axis. In this scenario, your sub-select returns an aggregation value of a dimension member, but in your main select row level expects a tuple set. So your can't get the result and it will throw error.

  • How to retrieve the 'Where Clause' text?

    Hello all,
    I have created a package to retrieve all the DML's executed against the database for the day, for a particular user. DBMS_LOGMNR package was used to retrieve DMLs. But the DMLs retrieved have their 'WHERE' clause text converted to ROWID's. I need to find out the 'WHERE' clause with the parameters.
    I tried retrieving values from the v$sql views, but that information is cryptic and very volatile.
    Is there a way to retrieve the 'Where' clause? If not, is there a way to retrieve the 'WHERE' clause information using a trigger against the corresponding table.
    I am desparately lookin'for a solution. Hope someone out there can help me out.
    Regards,
    Prabu Raghav.

    Hi Andrew,
    Thanks for the suggestion.
    I am using Oracle 8i not 9i.FGA using DBMS_RLS let's me add policies and retrieve all other information about a user except the SQL statement that's executed by the user.
    I want to retrieve the Current sql statement executed against the table by a particular user and record it.
    Any suggestions?
    Regards,
    Prabu Raghav.

  • How to set the where clause of a value set on the basis of a form field

    I am using a DFF(Descriptive FlexField), which needs to display the value of a certain column(say columnA) on the basis of the value of another column(say columnB).
    So i have created a value set which points to the table which has both these columns, and the DFF uses this value set. However, the problem is that I have not put any where clause in the value set, because of which i cannot handle the exact fetch returns more than one rows error.
    The query has to be as follows:
    select ColumnA from tbl where ColumnB = [ a form value ];
    What I want to know is how can i get the value of a certain field of a certain block of the form in the above query.

    Just have a look over these two statements if it solves your problem
    one time where clause
    Set_Block_Property('BLOCK_NAME',ONETIME_WHERE,your form item);
    dynamic where clause
    set_block_property('BLOCK_NAME'default_where, your form itme)
    you can where clause at run time from any procedure or some triggers

  • VPD - How to make the where clause a correlated query

    Hi,
    My VPD function has the following where clause:
    where_clause:= ' project_id in (select object_id from pa_project_classes p'||
    ' where p.class_category='||''''||l_cat||''''||
    ' and p.CLASS_CODE='||''''||l_class||''''||
    ' and p.OBJECT_TYPE=''PA_PROJECTS'''||
    The problem is that the subquery is not using the unique key defined on the table pa_project_classes. What I need is something as follows:
    where_clause:= ' project_id in (select object_id from pa_project_classes p'||
    ' where p.class_category='||''''||l_cat||''''||
    ' and p.CLASS_CODE='||''''||l_class||''''||
    ' and p.OBJECT_TYPE=''PA_PROJECTS'''||
    ' and p.object_id=mainquery.project_id ||
    The problem is that since the table pa_project_classes also has a column project_id, I have to prefix the column name by the alias of the main query like 'mainquery.project_id'. However this seems impossible as main query is not unknown .
    I would be grateful if you could suggest any workaround or solution.
    Thanks
