Dimension member wrong filter value

Hi Guys,
We are migrating all dimension property members from BPC 7.0 MS to BPC 7.5 NW. We created the dimensions, the properties and then populated the members.
When we open the report we select the dimension value in the current view and then we need to filter using the available filtering values, as shown in the example below:
Dimension TIME, property PERIOD, filtering values YEAR, QUARTER and MONTH
Instead, each property refers to wrong values (except the ID property) and we have:
Dimension TIME, property PERIOD, filtering values not from PERIOD, but from other member.
We changed the member values, and also deleted them, but BPC show always the old member values. Then, we tried to delete the cache client using the function available in eTools>Client Options>Clear Local Application Information. The system show the message u201CRun-Time Error 5: invalid procedure call or argumentu201D. Then, we have to end and restart the BPC application to continue to work again.
As second attempt we used the programs UJ_MEMACS_MAINTAIN and UJA_REFRESH_DIM_CACHE to delete the cache without success.
Thanks in advance for your answer.

Hi Ginie_Right,
We are on BPC 7.5 NW SP3 and SAP answered us to wait the BPC 7.5 NW SP4 available from 20th august.
Have you encountered the same problem?
Have you solved it?
Thanks for your answer.

• Make dimension values shown reflect other dimension filter values

I have created a cube and uses access this cube in an Excel pivot table. Is it possible to make values shown for one dimension display only the values valid, if I have selected another dimension's value that would limit the values that should
show under the first dimension? I tried linking the dimensions together with a key and that did not appear to do the trick. I also tried using dependsondimension in properties for the other dimension, but that did not work either. Is
there something I am missing that makes the cube only display the values in a dimension that apply when another dimension's value is filtered?

@Naveen - I am linking to the proper measure and am seeing the correct measure values.
@KR Jurgen - I'm not finding a spot to set the scope to NULL. I would, but some people need all the values.
Here's an example. I have company 1 and 2. Company 1 has item A and Company 2 has item B. They both have sales of $1. There is a company dimension and item dimension. When I filter by company 1, I see sales of $1.
The problem is, when I select the list of items from the item dimension, I still see item B. If I put the items in the row, I only see item A. The ideal situation would be to have only item A show when I select the list of items from the item
dimension. Is there some way to accomplish this?
Thank you both for your responses.

• ORA-35563: Multiple values exist for an attribute of this dimension member

After following the tutorial Building OLAP Cubes I was trying to make a cube with aggregation down to the day instead of down to the month.
I created a times table pretty similar to the one used in the tutorial:
CREATE TABLE EVENT_TIMES (
HOUR_KEY DATE NOT NULL,
DAY_ID VARCHAR2(10),
DAY_NAME VARCHAR2(10),
DAY_END_DATE DATE,
DAY_TIME_SPAN NUMBER,
MONTH_ID VARCHAR2(30) NOT NULL,
MONTH_NAME VARCHAR2(40),
MONTH_END_DATE DATE,
MONTH_TIME_SPAN NUMBER,
YEAR_ID VARCHAR2(30) NOT NULL,
YEAR_NAME VARCHAR2(40),
YEAR_END_DATE DATE,
YEAR_TIME_SPAN NUMBER
As you can see, instead of a DAY_KEY like in the tutorial, I now use an HOUR_KEY.
This is a sample of the data I inserted in this table:
select to_char(hour_key,'YYYYMMDDHH24MISS'),DAY_ID,DAY_NAME,DAY_END_DATE,DAY_TIME_SPAN,MONTH_ID,MONTH_NAME,MONTH_END_DATE,MONTH_TIME_SPAN,YEAR_ID,YEAR_NAME,YEAR_END_DATE,YEAR_TIME_SPAN from event_times;
TO_CHAR(HOUR_KEY,'YYYYMMDDHH24MISS') DAY_ID DAY_NAME DAY_END_DATE DAY_TIME_SPAN MONTH_ID MONTH_NAME MONTH_END_DATE MONTH_TIME_SPAN YEAR_ID YEAR_NAME YEAR_END_DATE YEAR_TIME_SPAN
20140104050000 Y2014M1D4 Y2014M1D4 04-JAN-14 1 Y2014M1 Y2014M1 31-JAN-14 31 Y2014 Y2014 31-DEC-14 365
20140104060000 Y2014M1D4 Y2014M1D4 04-JAN-14 1 Y2014M1 Y2014M1 31-JAN-14 31 Y2014 Y2014 31-DEC-14 365
I then created my TIME dimension with DAY as the lowest level.
When I try the maintain cube option it fails at the 'LOAD NO SYNCH' step with the rejected records having an error message that says:
ORA-35563: (XSRWLD17) Multiple values exist for an attribute of this dimension member.
To me, this is a very cryptic message and the only explanation I find online is:
Cause
Multiple source table rows containing different values for a dimension attribute were found. Only the first of the multiple rows has been loaded.
Action
Fix the mapping or remove the rows with conflicting attribute values..
This confuses me. In the tutorial the lowest level was day and the TIMES table contained 1 record for each day.
In my example, the lowest level is hour and the TIMES table contains 1 record for each hour.
Which attribute has multiple values? And which values?
The rejected records (101) are not very clear:
ALIAS_1 = 'MONTH_Y2014M1' AND ALIAS_3 = to_date('31JAN14') AND ALIAS_4 = 31 AND ALIAS_5 = 'Y2014M1' AND ALIAS_6 = 'Y2014M1' AND ALIAS_7 = 'YEAR_Y2014'
If anyone can help point me in the right direction, it would be greatly appreciated.

I have seen this recently. The issue is with the dimension load itself. You have a hour level record table but the rules relating to hierarchy/attribute values etc are checked/reinforced during the load and this error comes up sometimes.
I would guess that the issue seems to be with your month level information present in the higher level month columns. There are many records corresponding to a single month in ur case, month of Y2014M1. Information relating to Month level member Jan 2014 or member MONTH_Y2014M1 is present in these records: 31 (days) *24 (hours) = 744 records. The data in these 744 records for columns - MONTH_ID, MONTH_NAME, MONTH_END_DATE, MONTH_TIME_SPAN need to be exactly the same in order for the single member MONTH_Y2014M1 to have month attributes loaded with valid values.
For e.g: if records #1 to #743 contain month_timespan=31 but for some unknown reason record #744 contains month_timespan=30 then this error will come up. OLAP does not know which value to load (31 or 30), and only 1 value can be loaded onto the month level member corresponding to month Y2014M1.
A quick check of the data should give you the answer. Typically there may be some mistake/invalid assumptions made with the boundary records (in your case, check for values for records corresponding to hour=0 or hour=23/24) which is causing the issue.

• How to get the ID of a dimension member in script logic?

Hi everybody,
I am working in some logic scripts and I wonder if exists any option to get the current member ID of a dimension in order to concatenate a string using the member referred and an additional set of caracters such as: MEMBER_ID&"_ccccc".
Moreover, I would like to use this ID dimension member in order to filter members of another dimension whose attribute is equal to the ID of the desired member. Is it feasible?
In conclusion, is it possible to get a variable which is referred to a member ID of a dimension, and using it in order to filtering other dimensions?
Many thanks in advance,
Antonio

Hi Antonio,
You ask if it is possible compare a dimension id with a property value.. yes it is posible , for doing that you will have to do something like this,
*FOR %ACC1%=ThisA,ThisB,ThisC
*WHEN DIMENSION.PROPERTY=%ACC1%
*REC(............)
*ENDWHEN
*NEXT
if you want to concatenate using a filter theres a posibility, like this example using the time dimension.
*xdim_memberset time=%year%.jan -
>2011.jan
hope it helps

• Changing Filter Values from Macro in BW 7.0

Hello,
in my Workbook I need to change Filter Values of some queries in runtime.
The first thing I found was BEx API reference for BW 3.5, but I wasn't able to make these functions work. After all I found this code:
Dim BEx As Object
Set BEx = Application.Run("BExAnalyzer.xla!GetBEx")
Dim dp As Object
Set dp = BEx.DataProviders.Item(sDP)
Dim dimension As Object
Set dimension = dp.Request.Dimensions.Item("0CALDAY")
Dim filters As Object
Set filters = dimension.filters
If Not BEx.ServerStateExists Then
MsgBox " Please refresh before using this Makro"
Exit Function
End If
Call filters.SetFilterValue(sFilter) 'this sets the filter value
But using this code I wasn't able to set more than 1 filter value, because the function SetFilterValue removes all previous filters, but now I need to set more than 1 filters.
I also tried to separate different filter values with comma, but this did not help.
Also I will be glad if someone could give me a link on documentation about BEx objects in Excel.

• How can I pass a filter value to another report?

I'm using a filter within a formula of a field. For example: (FILTER("Facts - Actuals Ledger"."Actual" USING ("Time"."Fiscal Quarter" = '2012 Q 2'))-FILTER("Facts - Actuals Ledger"."Actual" USING ("Time"."Fiscal Quarter" = '2012 Q 1')))*-1
What the above is doing is calculating the variance between Q1 and Q2. My issue is when I drill on this value to a more detailed report, it's combining the Q1 and Q2 values, instead of showing the difference. I'm trying to avoid having to hard code the drill report and was wondering if there's any way to pass the calculated FILTER to the other report?
Thanks.

Hi,
I presume that you want to show the the difference between a prompted quarter and its previous quarter?
If so, I would use the Ago Time Series Function to create a new logical measure for prior quarter e.g.
ago("Facts - Actuals Ledger"."Actual", "Time"."Quarter", 1)
Note that the function should contain the time dimension level for quarter. The 1 at the end is the offset e.g. 1 quarter ago. This measure will now return the prior quarter value for whatever quarter is prompted.
Create a prompt for your report for Fiiscal Quarter, and set a filter in the report for the same column with an operator of Is Prompted.
Add the base measure ("Facts - Actuals Ledger"."Actual") and your new Ago measure to the report. When you prompt the report with a quarter, these two columns will show the Actual amount for the promted quarter and the previous quarter respectively. Now all you need to do is subtract one from the other.
Now, when you drill to another report, the filter value of the prompted quarter will be passed across. Apply the same logic to define measures in the drill report, receiving the prompted quarter only.
Note that you can also use Time Series Functions in the column formula when creating the analysis.

• Select the filter value display "No Entries Found"

Hi All,
I have a problem with the bex query. Query is built on a multiprovider.
I am using restricted key figure with constant selection checked for the characteristic that is available only in one cube.
Because of this when I right click and select Filter values on the free characteristics from the report, I get “(No Entries Found)”
If I remove constant selection from the key figure, report works fine.
Can someone help with a solution;
Thanks,
Biju

Assuming your data is coming from only one cube...
Drag 0INFOPROV in your Filter and restrict it with your your Cube
You can find 0INFOPROV in Dimensions under Data package
Hope this helps.

• How to tag attribute member with standard dimension member in EIS

hi,
would any one please help me how to tag attribute member with standard dimension member in EIS
THANK U IN ADVANCE

In your OLAP model, view columns for the base dimension table. Go into the column properties and for the columns that have Attribute values highlight them and click the Attribute button.
Go into Metadata Model and those fields will be available to drag into your outline as attribute members.
Once in the outline, go into the properties of the attribute and assign the level of the base dimension they associate with.

• Show Multiple Filter Values in a Web Template

Hello
I have a Web Template based on a query. On this Web Template I can set multiple single filter values for one characteristic.
Now I want to show these filtered values for this characteristic on the web item. This is possible for ONE filter value when you use the XML path (f.e. DATA_PROVIDER:DP1?/BICS_VIEW/SELECTION_STATE/SELECTION/CHARACTERISTICS/CHARACTERISTIC[@name='CHARNAME']/SELECTIONS/SELECTION[1]/MEMBER/@text)
Is there a possibility to show MULTIPLE filter values for one characteristics in a text or input field? I don't want to use a drop down box or the info field.

HI,
the best ay to do is create a query with same variable parameters as of the main query and place filter Characters on rows.
Use this query in one analysis item and use it on top row of the template as Filters information. This will give better look and feel as well solve your requirement

• Select Filter value for Hierarchy node taking long time

Dear Experts,
I am facing an issue with the Filter value selection in a BEx query and searched the forum for a solution but found none.
I have a free characteristic with hierarchy enabled for it and the Filter value selection at Query execution has been set to 'Values in Master data table' in the query definition and in the Multiprovider as well.
However, whenever the filter value selection is performed, the values are being read from teh underlying infocubes instead of the Master data.
We tried checking the BIA Index for the cube as well as the InfoObject and all is fine.
Can someone please point what might be going wrong here.
Thanks & Regards,

Could you please check as per Note 1565809 and make sure the F4 mode is really M mode in each level settings?

• Time Dimension Type allows different values in attributes - Bug or Feature?

Not sure if this is a bug or a feature.
But if one has multiple hierarchies on a Time dimension. You have the ability to specify different values for member attributes in different hierarchies.
Example.
Hierarchy A has MIN_ID for it's Member and uses MIN_END_DATE for it's END_DATE
Hierarchy B has MIN_ID for it's Member and uses SESS_END_DATE for it's END_DATE
As per this post and David Greenfield's comment:
Dimension Sort issue when multiple mappings for different hierarchies
"Are you attempting to map the same attribute, SORT, to different columns in the two hierarchies? Put another way, do you expect the same member to have different values for the attribute in the two different hierarchies? If so, then this is a problem since a member must have the same value for the attribute regardless of the hierarchy."
Unlike a user dimension, a time dimension appears to allow this and it appears to work as intended. Is the behavior in this case intended to be different between a user and time dimension?

I think that this is not a bug. There is an incompatibility in design which prevents you from using the same attribute differently for both hierarchies.
NOTE: Unlike parent relationship which depends on <dimension, dimension hierarchy>, Dimension Attribute is dependent on <dimension> alone, not dependent on <dimension, dimension hierarchy> combination. Hence it can only take on 1 value for 1 dimension member.
I think that the time dimension only appears to allow this. The key thing to check is for Time Dimension members which are common to both the hierarchies. Only one of the mappings will take effect (usually the hierarchy which is loaded last will remain in the aw/usable for queries, reports.. it would have over-written the earlier attribute value loaded as per the earlier hierarchy load).
Visualize a dimension as a long list of members which are built up contiguously on a per hierarchy, per level process using the mapping information saved. Once a member is defined (created) via Hierarchy A, it wont be created once again while loading Hierarchy B but is instead updated or redefined based on Hierarchy B's mapping info.
Assuming the dimension load attempts to load Hierarchy A first and then Hierarchy B,
* Dimension load for Hierarchy A will define the various members using MIN_ID and set the END_DATE attribute to value=MIN_END_DATE
* Dimension load for Hierarchy B will re-define the various members using MIN_ID and re-set or over-write the END_DATE attribute to value=SESS_END_DATE
* In this case, it looks like all members are common for both hierarchies (as both members are mapped to same column MIN_ID) and you would end up with END_DATE=SESS_END_DATE.
Actually whether all members are common to both hierarchies or not depends on the quality of data in your snowflake/star table: if parent level for Hierarchy A as well as Hierarchy B is setup fine then the members will be same set (overlapping in whole). If some rows for MIN_ID have parent column for Hierarchy A setup correctly but parent column for Hierarchy B =null or invalid value then that member will exist in Hierarchy A alone and would contain END_DATE=MIN_END_DATE as the corresponding update along Hierarchy B would fail due to hierarchy data quality issues (join from current level to parent level).
As regards a solution to your problem, you should not use the same attribute "SORT" for dual purpose (both hierarchies). Instead define attributes SORT_A and SORT_B and make them enabled for Hierarchy A, Hierarchy B respectively and map/use them appropriately in your reports.

Hi Vincent,
In your query, you use CrossJoin in it. Crossjoin function will cause the performance issue if there are a lot of properties that need to be displayed. If you cross-join medium-sized or large-sized sets (e.g., sets that contain more than 100 items each),
you can end up with a result set that contains many thousands of items—enough to seriously impair performance. For the detail information, please see:
http://sqlmag.com/data-access/cross-join-performance

• Delete data for a single dimension member

Is there anyway to delete all the data for a single dimension member from a particular cube?
olap version: 11.2.0.3

Nasar's approach should work, so I would use it so long as it performs well. But I have (several years ago) seen performance issues with CLEAR VALUES when it is applied to something smaller than an entire partition. So here is another method that also uses the FOR...BUILD construct. It clears the value of the PRICE measure in PRICE_COST_CUBE for PRODUCT = '48'. The cube has only two dimensions, TIME and PRODUCT, and I only want to assign to the leaf level of TIME, which is MONTH.
BEGIN
DBMS_CUBE.BUILD(Q'!
"PRICE_COST_CUBE" USING(
FOR
"TIME" LEVELS ("TIME"."MONTH"),
"PRODUCT" WHERE "PRODUCT".DIM_KEY = '48'
BUILD (SET PRICE_COST_CUBE.PRICE = NULL ))!',
PARALLELISM=>0,
ADD_DIMENSIONS=>FALSE);
END;
/You can increase parallelism here if your cube is partitioned. If you need to clear out other measures at the same time, then add additional SET command in the central block. E.g.
BUILD
SET PRICE_COST_CUBE.PRICE = NULL,
SET PRICE_COST_CUBE.COST = NULL
)After this step you can re-aggregate the cube to make the aggregate values reflect the change.
BEGIN
DBMS_CUBE.BUILD(Q'!
"PRICE_COST_CUBE" USING(
FOR
"TIME" LEVELS ("TIME"."MONTH"),
"PRODUCT" WHERE "PRODUCT".DIM_KEY = '48'
BUILD (SET PRICE_COST_CUBE.PRICE = NULL ),
SOLVE)!',
PARALLELISM=>0,
ADD_DIMENSIONS=>FALSE);
END;
/The simple assignment to NULL will generate a simple assignment in the OLAP DML.
PRICE_COST_CUBE_STORED=NAYou can force the code to loop over the existing composite by replacing NULL with something that evaluates to NULL, but involves the composite.
SET PRICE_COST_CUBEW.PRICE = NVL2(NULL, PRICE_COST_CUBE.PRICE, NULL)Here is the generated OLAP DML assignment.
PRICE_COST_CUBEW_STORED=NVL2(NA, GLOBAL.GLOBAL!PRICE_COST_CUBEW_PRICE
, NA) ACROSS GLOBAL.GLOBAL!PRICE_COST_CUBEW_COMPOSITE
