Dimension multiple leaf levels

hi, there is a logical table (business model and mapping) with 6 columns.
the columns are:
region name
region special name
city name
city special name
street name
street special name.
my purpose is to:
when users click "region name" on the dashboard, the drill down is "region name" -> "city name" -> "street name"
when users click "region special name on the dashboard, the drill down is "region special name" -> "city special name" -> "street special name"
"special names" are not in the drill down of "names"
"names" are not in the drill down of "special names".
I build a dimension (business model and mapping) with 4 levels.
grand total level
- region
_region name_
-- city
_city name_
--- street
_street name_
- region special
_region special name_
-- city special
_city special name_
--- street special
_street special name_
(underlined are columns)
but I get an error "not identical leaf levels",
how to achieve my goal?
and is it a must to define ONLY ONE dimension for ONE logical table?

To eliminate this error add detail level (child, lowest level) in the first hierarchy and share it in the second hierarchy. This is must be and if you ommit use for drilldown on the key column on that child/shared/lowest level it will never be displayed, so your two hierarchies will be the same as we defined before. Use primary key (id from table) for the column on this detail level. In the second hierarchy go to Street2/New object/Shared level as child and choose Detail level. Now both have this Detail level.
The dimension is now like:
Total
--Region (column region name is the key use for drilldown)
----City (column city name is the key use for drilldown)
------Street (column street name is the key use for drilldown)
--------Detail (shared level, id is the key not use for drilldown)
--Region2 (column region special name is the key use for drilldown)
----City2 (column city special name is the key use for drilldown)
------Street2 (column street special name is the key use for drilldown)
--------Detail (shared level, id is the key not use for drilldown)

  • Getting Error - Dimension has multiple leaf levels which are not identical

    Hi All,
    While creating two hierarchies with in same dimension , i am getting error like - Dimension has multiple leaf levels which are not identical.
    Does this error mean , the number of levels in both hierarchies should be same or it has some thing else meaning.
    I was creating hierarchies like below -
    LE details
    - LRU Details
    - LRU's Registration Details
    - LE's Registration Details
    How should i create the hierarchy?
    Thanks ,Ashish

  • [38073] dimension has multiple leaf levels which are not identical

    Hi,
    I am trying to implement a time dimension with 2 source tables.
    The time dimension is from minute to year where logical table includes 2 source tables :
    Source table#1 : Year,month,week,day
    Source table#2: hour,minute (minute is a leaf level and chronological key)
    When i try to check-in i got the following error: [38073] dimension has multiple leaf levels with are not identical.
    Thank you.
    Michael

    Hi RM
    i am able to create multiple hirerachy in time dimension and assigned time_id as chronological key which is at the dimension detail level and acting as shared child level for both of them......
    I have created AGO function for calendar year as
    AGO(Test."Fact".amount_sold, Test."Time Dim"."Calendar Year", 1)
    but when i have used AGO column in answers i am getting below mentioned error:-
    State: HY000. Code: 10058. [NQODBC] [SQL_STATE: HY000] [nQSError: 10058] A general error has occurred. [nQSError: 22046] To use AGO function, the query level ('Calendar Year, Fiscal Year') must be a static level. (HY000)
    any suggestion would be appreciated to solve this.
    thanks & regards

  • Dimension with multiple leafs

    Hello,
    We want to set up the following hierarchy:
    --- OXN
    ....|--- POT
    ....|....\--- RST
    ....|
    ....\--- OIN
    .........\--- PJT
    ..............\--- RST
    So this means OXN has 2 child levels (POT&OIN)
    and RST has 2 parent levels (PJT&POT)
    Now when we make this we get the following warning in the consistency checker:
    Warning: [38073] Dimension "<dimension_name> has multiple leaf levels which are not identical
    Does anybody know how we can solve this?
    Thanx in advance,
    Remc0

    I'd really like to know what causes this error to occur in the first place.
    For me I sat down to construct a time dimension.
    Single source table. Single drill path...
    Added year... Fine.
    Added Month... Fine
    Added Week... Fine.
    Added Day... Failed???
    Exactly the same process for Day as for week, month and year but for day I get the error.
    If I knew what criteria was being used to identify the error then i could figure out how to get around it but at the moment it almost looks like a bug( in this circumstance).

  • The Cube should refers to all leaf levels of hierarchies of the Dimension

    Dear All,
    I'm trying to link a fact table to the month level of a time dimension and i got the following error
    VLD-0398: The Cube TIME_TEST_CUBE does not refer to leaf/lowest level DAY of the dimension SINGLE_HIR_TIME.
    The Cube should refers to all leaf levels of hierarchies of the Dimension.
    would you please help me to solve this problem

    I realized that this feature is allowed only for MOLAP dimensions but not for ROLAP
    which exactly the opposite of what is mensioned in
    Oracle® Warehouse Builder
    User's Guide
    10g Release 2 (10.2.0.2)
    B28223-03
    in page 116
    " For a cube that uses a relational implementation, you can refer to intermediate
    levels in a dimension. However, for cubes that use a multidimensional
    implementation, you can only reference the lowest level in the dimension. "

  • Storage option for Non leaf level dimension members: Store vs Dynamic calc

    Hi All,
    What is the general rule regarding the storage options for non leaf level members? My understanding is that it should be Dynamic Calc under normal circumstances and have it as store if we are going to load data at non leaf level. Is this correct? Are there any other considerations while defining the members?
    Thanks and Regards,
    Amol

    Don't forget to consider whether the dimension is sparse or dense. Upper level dynamic calcs generally work well on dense dimensions as long as you aren't entering data into upper level members. Upper level dynamic calcs in a sparse dimension CAN work well, but usually only on smaller dimensions. This really depends on what else you have going on in your cube. On large sparse dimensions, upper levels are almost always stored, but this is one of those areas where you can sometimes bend the rules.
    Also, don't forget to consider the calc order implications of making something stored or dynamic.

  • [RESOLVED] Flag Lowest/Leaf Level in multi-dimensions

    Sample Data: http://www.sendspace.com/file/uwjz9p
    Hi,
    I'm having issue by flagging lowest/leaf level for CUBE rollup purpose, due to there's no parent or child relationship parameter table, thus the is_leaf / connect by function cannot be use :(
    However it is pretty obvious to be differentiate because the data is at follow:
    1
    1.2
    1.2.1
    1.2.2
    1.3
    But when mixed up two or more columns it is very hard to flag the lowest level flag.

    Post the sample data (CREATE TABLE and INSERT statements) and requirements right in your message. If that information is already availabel on some other web page or file, it should be easy for you to copy and paste it.
    Hi,
    I'm having issue by flagging lowest/leaf level for CUBE rollup purpose, due to there's no parent or child relationship parameter table, thus the is_leaf / connect by function cannot be use :(Acutally, the data you posted (if I interpret it correctly) does have a parent-child relationship: '1' is the parent of '1.x' , where x is any number. You could use CONNECT BY and CONNECT_BY_ISLEAF, but I think it will be more efficient to use a semi-join (as shown below) or an EXISTS sub-query.
    However it is pretty obvious to be differentiate because the data is at follow:Different things are obvious to different people. Even if you and I agree that the results are obvious, we might disagree on what those results are. Say what you want.
    I'm guessing you want something like this:
    SELECT     p.*
    FROM          table_x  p
    LEFT OUTER JOIN     table_x      c  ON  c.col_a  LIKE p.col_a || '.%'
                               OR  (    c.col_a  = p.col_a
                            AND  c.col_b  LIKE p.col_b || .%'
                       OR  (    c.col_a  = p.col_a
                            AND  c.col_b  = p.col_b
                        AND  c.col_c  LIKE p.col_c || '.%'
    WHERE   c.col_a  IS NULL
    ;This assumes that col_a can not be NULL.
    If you'd post CREATE TABLE and INSERT statements for the sample data, then I could test this.

  • Multiple key level associations

    Hi,
    I am getting the below error during the consistency check.
    Table, X, has multiple key level associations.
    Can anyone please let me know the reason for the same.
    Also, when I drag the physical tables from the physical layer to the BMM Layer, there are some default primary keys in the Logical Table.What considerations does OBIEE take into when deciding upon the Primary Key in the Logical table.
    Thanks in Advance
    Akshatha

    "can you check the keys foreign keys for those table "
    You didn't mention what I should be checking for.
    However, I think I've worked it out now.
    I have a dimension table that is referenced by both other dimension tables and the fact tables. Therefore, when imported into BI, both the dimension tables and the fact tables have foreign keys to this common dimension table.
    I'm guessing that the foreign keys on the dimension tables are not required - because there are foreign key references from the fact tables to the common table anyway. Bearing in mind that this is a star schema and not a snowflake schema.
    => I deleted all the foreign keys from all my dimension tables, and now the consistency check works ok.

  • Error 15037: Table has multiple key level associations

    Oracle BI 11g.
    I get this error when doing a consistency check with the BI Admin tool:
    Table DIMCPN has multiple key level associations: [DIMCPN.CPNKEY] and [DIMCPN.CPNKEY]
    I've seen the notes in the following thread:
    Re: nQSerror 15037
    However, these don't help.
    I'm not doing anything complicated.
    All I've done is to create the Physical model by importing some dimension and fact tables, then create the Business layer object by dragging across from the physical layer, then create the Presentation layer object by dragging across from the Business layer.
    I've not done anything else at all. I.e. I've not renamed any columns, created any hierarchies, etc, etc.
    Any ideas what's happening?

  • How to load data at non-leaf levels directly?

    Hi,
    We have a requirement where by Fact data for different scenarios gets loaded at different levels of ragged/recursive hierarchies.
    For example, the Actual sales are loaded at Product Leaf level but the Budgets data is available for loading only at Product Group level (which is one level above Product Leaf in Product Hierarchy).
    Please let me know if this is possible in Essbase.
    This is rater urgent.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Gurudatta

    Yes, as Gary said, performance is one factor.
    There are other less prominent reasons to keep agg missing on, but the overall reason for me is that it just makes more sense, especially when you consider the user operations involved in zooming in on data. When you do a zoom to bottom level, it's going to show you that the sum of the parts is equal to the whole in a well designed cube with agg missing on. With agg missing off, this may or may not be the case, and would NOT be the case if you load at non-leaf members. In that scenario, you end up with a "where did the data go?" issue that adds time to any hunt for answers as well as the likelyhood that more questions will be brought up that ultimately need answering. It's not obvious, but one scenario can be described as follows:
    (For convenience, I will use a standard time dimension hierarchy of YEAR|QUARTER|MONTH|DAY to illustrate the issue)
    2008 = 12000
        2008Q1 = 3000
            Jan 2008 = 1000 (input)
                1/1/2008 = #Missing
                1/2/2008...
            Feb 2008 = 1000 (input)
            Mar 2008 = 1000 (input)
        2008Q2 = 3000
          ... and so onIn the above example, there are two ways that confusion and errors can occur, the first is that somebody decides to upload some data to the days (level 0) instead of the month, and it doesn't add up to the total for the month. The second is that somebody decides to upload to the quarter, and thus the months no longer add up to the quarter amount. I treat these two conditions separately because in the first, the total is still represented by the amounts loaded to the monthly values, whereas the second case changes the grand total. If you were troubleshooting, you have to go level by level to see where the "breakdown" occurs by comparing each and every parent value to the sum of the children. It's a valid condition that is almost impossible to find quickly. There is no quick "show me all the inputs" approach, and no easy way to enforce an "input only at these levels" condition (there is, but there isn't as it's only practical in a perfect environment and trust me here you won't have it for long even if you could create it to begin with).
    So, long story short, data consistency goes out the window in a "load at upper level" cube, and the simple answer of providing an input member for the required generation(s) is much easier and reliable in the long run.
    Of course, there will always be exceptions, I just like to avoid them at all cost on this issue.

  • Reference same dimension multiple times in a cube

    Hi,
    I'm creating a cube with Analytic Workspace Manager. The cube needs to reference same dimension more than once. For example, in a movie ticket booking cube, there's a booking date and a show date , both should reference same pre-created TIME dimension. Because one dimension can be added to a cube only once, now my solution is to define 2 dimensions, i.e. BOOKING_TIME and SHOW_TIME, both are based on same underlying table and have exactly same levels/hierarchies/mapping, and then add them to the cube. I believe there must be smarter approaches out there, please advise.
    Thanks!

    For hand written/custom sql going against the Cube:
    You're right that you can use one of the 3 time dimension based views (duplicated 4 times for time1/2/3/4 dimensions).
    If you need to use 2 out of 4 time dimensions in your query (by applying an application based filter/restriction) then you would need to alias the relevant view(s) 2 times and get your result.
    If you needed to use all 4 time attribute dimensions, then you need to alias the time dimension view 4 times.
    12 views represent the full spectrum of possible report/query usage scenarios available to users via these 4 time dimension views. A typical session with various reports/queries is unlikely to refer to all of them (possible but not likely).
    In different scenarios, any one of the 3 views - dimension view, h1, h2 view - comes into play for each dimension.
    In every query/report scenario, only 1 out of the 3 applicable views would be needed or suitable based on the query/report specifics.
    E.g:
    * If your query is at lowest level and is also referencing attributes/descriptions which pertain to >1 hierarchies, then the view v_time<N>d is the appropriate view to use. Neither vtime<N>h1 or vtime<N>_h2 will be able to give you the results you require if you have attributes defined exclusively in either hierarchy h1 or h2.
    * Setting the default hierarchy to either h1 or h2 determines which hierarchy view is expected to be used/preferred in cases where dimension is not referenced or where Top level of dimension is desired in query/report. E.g: Top level is same for both hierarchies h1 and h2 but read the Top Level values from h1 view as h1 is marked as the default hierarchy for dimension.
    * The level of the query is generally determined by the lowest level of the attributes/fields in your query. If you have attributes like Long_Desc, Short_Desc (available at all levels/all hiers) and you have 2 attributes from Hierarchy H1 and from levels L1 (one level above leaf) and L3 (higher than L1 by 2 levels)... then the query uses v_time<N>h1 and will apply a filter to choose/constraint levelname field = 'L1'.
    * Reporting tools like OBIEE etc. have security filters defined to ensure that the joins to missing dimensions and the appropriate dimension level filters appended to the query in a transparent "behind the scenes" manner.
    NOTE: By modeling the time based fields as different dimensions, you get the benefit of time series analysis along any of the 4 dimensions. You can create a Month-to-Date Revenue measure along "Show Biz Time" dimension and also create a Year-to-Date Revenue Measure based on "Booking Time" dimension. Also compare % variance of "MTD - Revenue - Show Biz Time" with corresponding value for Last year "MTD LY - Revenue - Show Biz Time". This is the benefit you get by breaking out the 4 columns in relational fact and modeling them as explicit time dimensions. You pay a small price in terms of cube space expansion, time dimension load increase but as acknowledged earlier, this dimension can be loaded incrementally, the full load process is done only initially. It is an offline process (batch) and does not hamper query performance.
    Regd
    3) In the underlying star schema, we have only one time dimension table, in the ticket booking fact table, we have 4 dimension columns referencing the same time dimension table. So it's intuitive to expect similar design in the cube. Current approach seems like replicating the dimension table for each dimension column.Do you have parentage along h1/h2 laid out in terms of different parent columns ... 06:30am should have parent D1 in h1 hierarchy (regular day) and parent=D1-1 in h2 hierarchy (business day)?
    h1=regular day hierarchy
    h2=biz day hierarchy
    In that case, perhaps you want "Booking Time" (Time1) to use view: v_time1_h1 by default and "Booking Biz Time" (Time3) to use v_time3_h2 by default.
    Using h2 hierarchy for Time1 or h1 hierarchy for Time3 would be illogical/invalid. Maybe you can simplify things by removing the hierarchies from olap model which dont apply to the dimension.

  • MDX missing out 'All' level results for attribute joined to leaf level of a hierarchy

    I have an MDX query with a cross-join of a hierarchy and a simple attribute on rows.  The leaf level of the hierarchy maps one-to-one with the simple hierarchy, while the other levels map onto multiple values of the simple attribute.  In the results,
    an 'All' level row of the simple hierarchy is produced for all values of the hierarchy.  However:
    1. if the rows are numbered using Rank, the row number that the 'All' rows of the root level values of the hierarchy should have is skipped, and the rows that should have it have a repeat of the single child's row number.
    2. in SSRS no 'All' level of the simple attribute is found for the root level of the hierarchy.
    My reading of this is that the All level is not being produced for the one-to-one root level relationship, and the query is reading the first non-empty value.
    Any thoughts on (1) how to force the production of the missing 'All' level values; and (2) how to use Scope or some other means to place values in the positions where they are missing.
    Ken

    It would be helpful to see your MDX query and a screenshot illustrating the results!
    Thanks! Josh

  • Can I have multiple volume levels in one track?

    I have a track composed of audio from a cassette recorder of a now deceased relative's voice.
    Since the cassette was turned on and off during recording, the recordings are at different volumes.
    I have been able to import the cassette into a GarageBand project, and delete dead space, but now I find that the volume is not consistent.
    Any way to remedy that? I am wondering if I need to chop it up and make more than one track, and adjust the volume on each track? Will this work as long as the tracks don't overlap?
    And then do I send the finished product to iTunes in order to be able to use it in an iMovie?
    Or can I drag it right from GarageBand to iMovie?
    Many thanks, I'm a very new GarageBand user.

    The first dataset works perfectly. But not the second one... There are some intersections at OBJECT_TYPE level.
    TOP->OLAP_USR->DIMENSION->OUD1
    and
    TOP->SH->DIMENSION->OUD2.
    When I'm watching TOP->OLAP_USR->DIMENSION->OUD1, I not only open OUD1, but OUD2 under SH (even skipping OBJECT_TYPE level). It's simple to do it for USOLVED LEVEL-BASED by assigning different Id for the same OBJECT_TYPES from different owners. But it looks like my ids are ignored for Solved hierarchy.
    Does anybody knows how to handle such situation?

    I'm trying to make a dimension with SOLVED LEVEL-BASED hierarchy (Oracle 10.2.0.1).
    Hierarchy is folowing:
    TOP
    |_OWNER
    |_OBJECT_TYPE
    |_OBJECT_NAME
    Script
    DROP TABLE SOLVED_DIM;
    CREATE TABLE SOLVED_DIM

    The first dataset works perfectly. But not the second one... There are some intersections at OBJECT_TYPE level.
    TOP->OLAP_USR->DIMENSION->OUD1
    and
    TOP->SH->DIMENSION->OUD2.
