Direct Access to Database in JDeveloper 11g TP4@FusionWebApplication?

Hi,
i have added a Database (Application Resources --> Connection --> Database --> "myDB") to my Application. I can creat Business Components et cetera with the wizard... all works...
Now I have a simple Java-Class and i want a access to one table in my Database... must i creat a new Connection like
Connection c = DriverManager.getConnection("jdbc:oracle:thin:@" + host + ":" + port + ":" + sid, user, pw); (simple java-code)
or is there a chance for direct access to "myDB"?

If you just want the connection information raw, you could try something like:
package test.model;
import oracle.adf.share.ADFContext;
import oracle.jdeveloper.db.adapter.DatabaseProvider;
public class Class1 {
    public static void main(String[] args) throws Throwable  {
          DatabaseProvider cd = (DatabaseProvider)ADFContext.getCurrent().getADFConfig().getConnectionsContext().lookup("scott_local");
          System.out.println("ConnURL= "+cd.getConnectionURL());
          System.out.println("Host = "+cd.getProperty(DatabaseProvider.HOSTNAME_CLASS_REFTYPE));
          System.out.println("Port = "+cd.getProperty(DatabaseProvider.PORT_CLASS_REFTYPE));
          System.out.println("SID = "+cd.getProperty(DatabaseProvider.SID_CLASS_REFTYPE));
          System.out.println("Username = "+cd.getProperty(DatabaseProvider.USERNAME_CLASS_REFTYPE));
          System.out.println("Password = "+cd.getProperty(DatabaseProvider.PASSWORD_CLASS_REFTYPE));
}

  • Logical database vs direct access of database table

    Hi
    I have created a FI report.    I am trying to get data from large FI tables like BSAK, BSEG, BKPF, RSEG.  eventhough there are 10 records as per my criteria, system is taking morethan an hour time even in background processing.  This may be becaz of lot of conditions that I am applying to filter the data.  But still trying to improve the performance
    For fetching data which is the better way for getting optimum performance of the report.
    a) directly fetching data from database tables
    b) using logical database collecting data into an itab
    regards,
    mallik

    Hi,
    If you are accessing the database tables more than once with different criteria then definetly it will take more time. In such case write only one Select statement on the table and get all the required data into an internal table and then process this internal table as per your logic.
    Use of LDBs is definetly faster but filter conditions might not match with your filter conditions. In such case direct access of database table is preferable but as i said in above paragraph.
    thanks,

  • How to connect sybase database in JDeveloper 11g using JConnect

    Hi
    How to connect sybase database in JDeveloper 11g using JConnect? Please help.

    User,
    It would help if you explained Sybase Jconnect instead of leaving us to google.
    At any rate, it appears you need to create a library definition in JDeveloper, add the appropriate JConnect JAR files to the library's classpath, and then add the library to your project.

  • Can midlet directly access a database?

    I'm creating a midlet that connects to a database. Do i need to go through a server and then access the database or can i directly access the database through the midlet?
    Does anyone have a sample code that have a midlet interacts directly with a database? Or is it impposible to do so without going through a web server.
    Blaise,

    Your message arrived at the rigth address :)
    I am experienced in J2ME programming and made several projects with it including my graduation thesis . (you can check http://2m.turkmenweb.com for my J2ME projects).
    You can directly acces from MIDlet DB, but it is not so reccomended, since mobile devices have certain limitations. When we had to use DB in our J2ME projects(with MIDP1.0 and MIDP2.0) we achieved it by collaboration of JSP with our MIDlet.. That is MIDlet was only sending a URL to Tomcat Server (JSP server) i.e. http://someurl.com/show?task=topusers, and this URL was parsed by a Servlet which was making all needed conenctions to DB.
    I also know that there are K editions (very small) of DBMS built especially for mobile devices. You can use them also .. I guess Oracle has such a thing..
    Good luck!

  • Unable to Connect to Oracle 10gR1 database from JDeveloper 11g using OCI

    We are migrating our application from OC4J to Weblogic server. As a part, I am trying to create a database connection in JDeveloper 11g (11.1.1.3.0 - Build JDEVADF_11.1.1.3.PS2_GENERIC_100408.2356.5660) to Oracle 10gR1 database. Previously I had Oracle 10g Client installed in the machine. Created a database connection using OCI driver and when I try to test connect, I got "Test Failed: no ocijdbc11 in java.library.path". I searched through Metalink and forums and one suggestion was to install Oracle 11g Client on the machine where Jdeveloper 11g is installed. I installed 11g R1 client and tried the same test connection using OCI driver. Now I am getting "Test failed: ORA-12705: Cannot access NLS data files or invalid environment specified" error.
    The same database connection works good with Thin driver with both Oracle 10g client and 11gR1 client.
    Previously I had Jdeveloper 10.1.3.2 and Oracle 10g Client and I was able to connect to database without any errors.
    Could you provide me the steps for this or if I missed any steps?
    Steps to Replicate:
    For the error: no ocijdbc11 in java.library.path
    1) Install JDeveloper 11g (With embedded Weblogic Server)
    2) Install Oracle 10g Client on the same machine
    3) Create a database connection in the "Application Resources --> Connection"
    4) Use OCI driver. Enter the host details about the Oracle 10g R1 database
    5) Test connect to the database.
    ORA-12705: Cannot access NLS data files or invalid environment specified
    1) Install JDeveloper 11g (With embedded Weblogic Server)
    2) Install Oracle 11gR1 Client on the same machine
    3) Create a database connection in the "Application Resources --> Connection"
    4) Use OCI driver. Enter the host details about the Oracle 10g R1 database
    5) Test connect to the database.
    Note: Tried the same scenarios with Oracle 11gR2 client as well. It was not working at all.
    Any ideas and pointers would be great.

    1. will my problem get solved after i install oracle 11g client on my machine.Yes, your problem should get solved. The version of the Oracle 11g Client must match the version of the JDev's JDBC drivers. Alternatively you may install an Oracle 11g Client and replace JDev's Oracle JDBC drivers with these from the installed client. Please, read carefully my 1st posting above in this thread.
    2. can i patch JDeveloper 11g on my machine to work with 10g client, or can i do the same with 10g client.You might succeed if you replace JDev's built-in JDBC drivers (which are 11g versions) with 10g versions, but I do not recommend you to try that because JDeveloper 11g and ADF 11g may be using some 11g features that do not exist in 10g drivers, so you may have problems.
    I also have PLSql developer installed on my machine and it works well.PL/SQL Developer does not use JDBC drivers, so it is not an relevant example in this case.
    My generall recommendation is to use Oracle JDBC Thin drivers. Oracle claimed that OCI drivers had better performance, but this was really true about earlier releases. Current Oracle 11g JDBC Thin drivers offer excellent performance and they offer all the features of the OCI versions (which was not true about earlier releases). In my opinion, the most important disadvantage of Oracle JDBC OCI drivers is that most versions have native memory leaks so all the RAM would get consumed after long application execution. The fact that WebLogic Server does not offer Oracle JDBC OCI drivers by default anymore says that Oracle discourages the usage of the OCI driver in favour of Thin driver.

  • DBTransactionStateListener not working properly in JDeveloper 11g TP4

    Hi All
    I've created a custom DCTransactionStateListener and implement transactionStateChanged(boolean state) method. When the db transaction state is being changed i set a parameter in the HttpSession. I need this in order to know if transaction is dirty.
    In JDeveloper 11g TP3 it's working properly, but now i test it in TP4 and it's not working. The method is not called. I've tried with delete and modify existing rows, but the method transactionStateChanged(boolean state) was not called.
    Please anyone give some help to resolve this.
    Regards,
    JavaDeVeLoper

    In general, you should be able to reference the isTransactionDirty() property of the data control without needing to create your own custom listener here, but it looks like for the TP4 and later builds, if you do want a custom DCTransactionStateListener, you'll need to override the
    package model.utils;
    import oracle.adf.model.bc4j.DataControlFactoryImpl;
    public class MyDataControlFactoryImpl extends DataControlFactoryImpl {
      public MyDataControlFactoryImpl() {
      protected String getDataControlClassName() {
        return MyCustomDCJboDataControl.class.getName();
    package model.utils;
    import oracle.jbo.common.ampool.SessionCookie;

    public class MyCustomDCJboDataControl extends JUApplication {
      public MyCustomDCJboDataControl() {
        addTransactionStateListener(new MyDCTransactionStateListener());
      public MyCustomDCJboDataControl(SessionCookie sessionCookie)
         super(sessionCookie);
         addTransactionStateListener(new MyDCTransactionStateListener());

  • Using TCL to Directly Access Forwarding Databases

    Please can someone tell me if this is even possible with a TCL script on IOS?
    Open a TCP / SSL control channel from the router to an external monitoring server to do the following:
    Reliably replicate the global routing table and VRF routing tables with all information, such as protocol, metrics, next hop, prefix, mask, VRF, etc.
    Poll the global routing table and VRF routing tables for changes and send real time updates when there are changes
    Encapsulate the information into XML so it can be decoded by the monitoring server
    I don’t want to scrape show commands as I don’t believe it would scale or be accurate enough. I’m not even sure if it’s possible to direclty access the forwarding databases (MPLS, routing tables, etc)?  Does TCL only work with CLI output?
    Thanks!
    Richard

    Thanks for your help Joseph. Are there any plans to pass VRF information in the routing detector?
    Are there any other detector subsystems or methods to directly monitor the routing processes? For example by using the Application Detector (event_register_appl) to subscribe to IOS subsystem events and bypass the built in detectors, or use Resource Detector (event_register_resource) to detect a state change?  Even when writing custom TCL scripts are we bound by the predefined event detectors or are there other ways of accessing IOS subsystems?
    I also wondered if it was possible to create an EEM / TCL resource tracker or counter tracker that tracks the routing tables for changes via SNMP. The problem here is I’m not sure if it’s possible to monitor the MIB for specific changes, then poll for that specific change, as opposed to doing a complete SNMP walk? For example, with a number of VRFs and hundreds of thousands of routes I just need to know when there has been a change, and report just that change.
    I could take the output from the Routing Event then SNMP poll the global routing and all the VRFs for that prefix. With a lot of route updates and lots of VRFs there would be a lot of unnecessary SNMP polling (and it probably wouldn’t scale).
    Regarding the SSL limitation it looks like it’s possible (from one of your previous posts) to perform an MD5 hash (maybe even SHA). Therefore I’d expect I can hash the XML payload in the TCP session.
    Thanks again!

  • Connect from JDeveloper 11g TP4 to Weblogic 10.3

    Hi,
    Did anybody manage to connect to Weblogic 10.3 from JDeveloper 11.1 TP4 ?
    I looks different from the tutorial provided by Shay Shmeltzer on how to connect JDev 10g to Weblogic. With 11.1 TP4, I create the an Application server connection, I've put the path to the weblogic.jar in the field named "Path to Weblogic containing Weblogic Client" but when I test the connection, I get "Cannot instantiate class: weblogic.jndi.WLInitialContextFactory" which suggest the jar is not loaded. I run JDev on Linux, I've copied the file in "JDEV_HOME/jdev/lib/ext (I've created the directory)", "JDEV_HOME/jdev/extensions" and "JDEV_HOME/jdev/lib" and bounce Jdev. Same error.
    The online doc doesn't say more that what I've guess. Obviously I'm doing something wrong. Can anybody help me, it may be obvious because nobody seems to have asked that question in this forum.
    Thank you very much for your help. Best Regards
    Gregory

    Gregory,
    an EAR file deployment will always work ;-) However, then you don't have the ADF libraries installed on WebLogic 10.3 wich will cause the next problem. So unless you deploy the whole ADF libraries with your application (appr. 70 MB) you need to enable the WLS 10.3 instance for ADF running the ADF installer from the production version. This adf installer is part of the JDeveloper / WLS installer that you can obtain from otn.oracle.com/products/jdev
    At the end of the day the TP4 turns out to be what it is: a technology preview that gets you started but not more

  • JDeveloper 11g TP4 - Date Mask

    Can someone tell me where you specify the date mask in JDev 11g, such as MM/DD/YYYY on the entities/attributes page?
    Thanks.

    Hello Andre,
    can you explain more detailed what "strange results" are?
    I just entered "dd.MM.yyyy hh:mm" into the property "Format" and this gives the correct date format.
    When I save or apply the change I get a warning: "This dialog contain(s) warings. Do you want to ignore them and continue?"
    --> In my opinion this warning can be ignored because it's only to warn about changes in the corresponding resource bundle file.
    BTW: If you need further assistance for this issue you should create a new thread because this one is already marked as answered and your question may be "overlooked".
    regards
    Peter

  • How to expose sort attributes in a web service created on a AM 11g TP4

    I'm using Jdeveloper 11g TP4 to create a web service on the application module.
    When I run the web service, it is working fine. Can someone tell me how to expose the sort attributes for the user to choose?
    How do I expose the sort Order for the user to select?
    These are the steps I followed:
    1) Created a new application.
    2) Created a view object in the Model project.
    Created one bind variable.
    Created new view Criteria and used the bind variable.
    3) Created a new jspx page.
    From the Data control dragged and dropped the Named Criteria on to the page and used "ADF Query Panel with Table..."
    4) Ran the Jspx page. It works fine.
    Double Click Application Module.
    Click on tab Service Interface.
    Hit New, this will open the Wizard to Create a new Service Interface.
    Followed instructions and selected all the applicable methods to expose as web service.
    At the end of the process, wsdl, xsd, java files are created.
    I'm able to run this web service.
    The field to query the data is exposed in the Web Service.
    Is there a way to expose the sorting attributes to be selected by the user? i.e. I want to expose the fields to the user.
    Thanks,
    Jagadish.

    Why bother with TP 4? JDev 11g is already production.
