Directing the executed statements output to a file in TOAD

HI PPL,
I am new towards using Toad utilitiy on oracle databases
can you please guide me on how to direct the statements that i execute in TOAD to (eg a spool file) on my desktop.
Regards

Hello,
Beside the previous answers Oracle provides a very useful and free product which can help you in this task.
In a few mouse click you could send the result of the query in a file and choose many kind of format (xls, htm, ...).
Please, find enclosed a link about SQL Developer :

    How to download the blocked ALV output to PDF file.
    I am able to download the BLocked ALV output in PDF format,
    but the each bolck in ALV is displaying different pages of PDF.
    In my report I have 4 block in 1 page, I am able to see the output in PDF but in different page.
    How to avoid the Page-break in PDF.
    Thanks,
    Ravi Yasoda.

    hi,
    I believe that your have 4 containers on the screen with individual ALV display. in this case, there is no way to get combined PDF output to my knowledge.
    However you can use Smartform/Sapscript as output which would allow you to display ALV in blocks and also print it in one.

  • Compiling files with the 'package'-statement

    Hi,
    I have a problem compiling files that uses the 'package'-statement:
    I have 2 files ClassA.java and ClassB.java. ClassA uses objects of type ClassB. When I compile ClassA.java the compiler also automatically compiles ClassB.java. No problem so far.
    But when I add "package mypackage" to ClassA.java and ClassB.java and then try to compile ClassA.java with the command "javac -d . ClassA.java" I get the compile-error "Class mypackage.ClassB not found". This would mean that I would have to compile all my files separately?
    Can anybody tell me what I am doing wrong?
    Thx,
    Jan

    I was still working on it, but I think I have it now :-)
    Let me try to summarize what I think/hope that I understand:
    I have the following files in package mypackage:
    C:\src\mypackage\ClassA.java
    C:\src\mypackage\ClassB.java
    with ClassA using ClassB.
    I want to compile them into C:\classes\mypackage\ClassA.class and C:\classes\mypackage\ClassB.class
    I change directory to C:\classes and then give the command
    >javac -d . ..\src\mypackage\ClassA.java
    This didn't work at first because my classpath wasn't set correctly. To make it work I had to add C:\src to my classpath. Which surprised me a little because I thought that the classpath was only used to find *.class files and not by javac to find *.java files?
    If anybody has something to add to this, please feel free to do so.

  • Sql - execute statement problems

    I have a "try" with a "catch" that contains an sql execute statement, and some statements after that, but it doesn't execute any of the following statements. It successfully compiles and has no errors when I run it. It just doesn't insert the information and it stops every command that follows. When I remove the execute state (the one with the asterist next to it), the following statements execute fine. Any information on what I might be missing would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
    try{
    new JdbcOdbcDriver();
    String url = "jdbc:odbc:javadb";
    String user = "";
    String password = "";
    Connection con =
    DriverManager.getConnection(url, user, password);
    Statement stmt = con.createStatement();
    System.out.println("Made the Connection");
    *stmt.executeUpdate("INSERT INTO tbl VALUES ('bradley')");
    System.out.println("Made the Connection");
    JOptionPane.showMessageDialog(this, "Data Inserted");
    }catch(Exception e)
    e.printStackTrace();
    }

    Look in your log file. When you perform "e.printStackTrace()" the stack is sent to the System.out, which JSP has already redirected to the log.
    If you're having trouble finding the log (it depends on what webserver you're using), try changing that to:
    out.println("<h3>We have an error: " + e + "</h3>");
    (Notice the absense of "System." here. We're using the pre-defined JSP "out" object that's going to the client browser.)
    That will print the error message, plus the reason for the error, on your client as 2nd level header.
    Personally, I always print out my error messages in this manner. I find that having a full, complete, extensive stack trace is next to useless. It's like asking for the definition of the word "Java", and having the Oxford Unabridged Dictionary dropped in your lap.

  • Output verbose to file and console?

    Hello all,
    I'm running my PowerShell script from a batch file, and I'm trying to output the verbose statements to a log file as well as to the console. In the batch file I have:
    powershell.exe -command ".\Script.ps1 -verbose 4> ScriptLOG.txt"
    What I can't figure out is how to incorporate another redirector to have the output also output to the console as well as the LOG file.
    Any ideas?

    I think we need to realize that each of the redirectalble outputs is a single handle opened to a specific target.  When we redirect "standard I/O channel 4" to a file we are reallu  closin handle 4 and opening it to a file. We can only
    output to a single open handle at a time.  THe console is the default handle most of the time.  4 is noramally opend to the console.  All of the other handles are opened to teh console until redirected.  The default output of the pipeline
    is also sent to the console.  THe objects are enumerated and formatted to the console for the operator but they really only exist in memory.
    I normally write custom loggers.
    You can also use "Get-Content file.txt -Wait -Tail 1"
    This will display they output to the file one line at a time.  This allows monitoring the verbose channel.
    ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

  • SQL query automation and output to text file

    The bcp utility should handle this task pretty easily for you. The documentation is available here.

    I know enough SQL to get me by with the few things I currently do in it (but would always like to know and do more).  Anyway, I was just recently asked if I could come up with a way to automate the execution of a SQL query we currently manually run, and then have the results of that query output (instead of to the screen in SSMS) to a text file with the ".dat" extension.  I've never automated a SQL query before nor have I had the results output to a file.  Can anyone give me some pointers on how to tackle this?
    The query currently calls to a stored procedure (which does all the work) and just executes it with some given dates from the query so I'm thinking the output will need to come from the stored procedure (and the code for output to a file added there?)

  • Capturing command line output to a file possible?

    Hi, i am in need of capturing the command line output to a txt file and need some suggestions on how to do it.
    I have two classes, class A is the one with all the methods and outputs text to the command line (using System.out.print). class B is the one that calls the methods and needs to record the command line output to a file.
    Now the problem i face is not all the output is going to be written to a file and not all the output is going to be displayed on the command line. eg. class B will have a way to select the output mode which is either both to a file and command line or just to a file and display nothing on the command line.
    Is what i am asking even possible? Any suggestions would be great!

    Here is a class I found on the forum that does basically what you need. Just change the code that is updating a Document to write to a file:
    import java.io.*;
    import java.awt.*;
    import java.awt.event.*;
    import javax.swing.*;
    import javax.swing.text.*;
    public class ConsoleOutputStream extends OutputStream
         private Document document = null;
         private ByteArrayOutputStream outputStream = new ByteArrayOutputStream(256);
         private PrintStream ps = null;
         public ConsoleOutputStream(Document document, PrintStream ps)
              this.document = document;
              this.ps = ps;
         public void write(int b)
              outputStream.write (b);
         public void flush() throws IOException
              super.flush();
              try
                   if (document != null)
                        document.insertString (document.getLength (),
                             new String (outputStream.toByteArray ()), null);
                   if (ps != null)
                        ps.write (outputStream.toByteArray ());
                   outputStream.reset ();
              catch(Exception e) {}
         public static void main(String[] args)
              JTextArea textArea = new JTextArea();
              JScrollPane scrollPane = new JScrollPane( textArea );
              JFrame frame = new JFrame("Redirect Output");
              frame.setDefaultCloseOperation( JFrame.EXIT_ON_CLOSE );
              frame.getContentPane().add( scrollPane );
              frame.setSize(300, 600);
              frame.setVisible(true);
              System.setOut( new PrintStream(
                   new ConsoleOutputStream (textArea.getDocument (), System.out), true));
              System.setErr( new PrintStream(
                   new ConsoleOutputStream (textArea.getDocument (), null), true));
              Timer timer = new Timer(1000, new ActionListener()
                   public void actionPerformed(ActionEvent e)
                        System.out.println( new java.util.Date().toString() );
                        System.err.println( System.currentTimeMillis() );
              timer.start();

  • Batch executing SQL Statements stored in a file in SAP DB

    hi,
    I am using SAP DB as database in my j2ee application. As a part of the application purpose, i need to insert a large no. of records in to the database directly. I have created the SQL file which contains the insert statements for the records
    Now i need to execute this file sothat the insert statement which are inside the file get executed. I am using SQL Studio to access to the Database.
    I would like to know whether any options are available in SQL Studio to for executing a SQL File.
    Kindly help
    Best regards,
    Sudheesh...

    Hi,
    I believe that the solution to your problem lies in creating sql studio objects.Please refer to the link below.Select the link "sql dialog" on the page.
    The following options are available for sql dialog.
    The following options are available in the SQL dialog:
    ·        Creating and executing SQL statements
    ·        Setting parameters for SQL statements
    ·        Importing and exporting SQL statements
    Select the "Importing and exporting sql statements" link on this page to know more about it.This will tell you how to import sql statements from ascii files.
    Basically,what you need to do is From the context menu for the SQL dialog, choose Import File or Export File.
    The link I have provided,gives a lot of other information as well.

    Hello,

    Select statement from a join file deletes the primary records with MS Explorer 6, Firefox not, this with a normal data provider or with a normal "select..." statement.
    This is very strange, I should have a.a.s.p. a solution or workaround

    Please see the following excerpt from the online documentation.
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E11882_01/server.112/e22490/ldr_modes.htm#SUTIL1332
    Enabled Constraints
    During a direct path load, the constraints that remain enabled are as follows:
    NOT NULL
    UNIQUE
    PRIMARY KEY (unique-constraints on not-null columns)
    NOT NULL constraints are checked at column array build time. Any row that violates the NOT NULL constraint is rejected.
    Even though UNIQUE constraints remain enabled during direct path loads, any rows that violate those constraints are loaded anyway (this is different than in conventional path in which such rows would be rejected). When indexes are rebuilt at the end of the direct path load, UNIQUE constraints are verified and if a violation is detected, then the index will be left in an Index Unusable state. See "Indexes Left in an Unusable State".

  • Is it possible to have 2 different output config XML files and index the data into 2 endeca apps using the same indexing component ProductCatalogSimpleIndexingAdmin

    Hi ,
    We have a catalog that defines 2 types of products (they have too many different properties), so wanted to keep them on two different MDEX engines and serve the applications requests. Here DB catalog and front end ATG application is same for both the MDEX instances.
    Is it possible to have 2 different output config XML files and index the data into 2 endeca apps using the same indexing component ProductCatalogSimpleIndexingAdmin?
    Thanks
    Dev

    Hi, also have had some problem some monthes ago - I created separete component ProductCatalogSimpleIndexingAdminSecond. After that one of my colleage gave me some advice:
    The creating separate component like ProductCatalogSimpleIndexingAdmin for the second IOC is possible way for resolving your situation. But I afraid that this way will be required creating mane duplicates for already existed components.
    In my opinion the better way is the following:
    starting from AssemblerApplicationConfiguration and ApplicationConfiguration component. It contains details for connecting between ATG and Endeca. Of course you should configure different components for different Endeca Apps.
    After that:
    Find all components that uses AssemblerApplicationConfiguration and ApplicationConfiguration. Customize these components for using one or another  *Configuration component depending on what index works. (many variants released it: the most simple global custom component with flag.)
    Then customize the existed ProductCatalogSimpleIndexingAdmin. Using one or another IOC  and setting the flag in global custom component when index started. You can add some methods into your custom ProductCatalogSimpleIndexingAdmin like:
    Execute baseline index for both IOC (one by one)
    Execute baseline for IOC 1
    Execute baseline for IOC 2.
    Note: you should be afraid about incremental (partial) index in this configuration. But resolving conflicts in incremental index should be done after full implementation these changes.
