Directing to the home page

Hello everybody,
If an user enters in the url address as http://zoramsite.com/UsernameOrAnything
what I want is that the user will be directed to the home page of the site as
http://zoramsite.com
Where should I make changes in the application so as to succeed?
Please advice,
Thanks

That's "Nope, I don't know how", rather than "Nope, I'm not telling you" by the way. If I knew how, I'd be happy to tell you
By the way, you've got a few unrelated questions live here at the same time. Can I give you some advice? Concentrate on getting one thing working before trying something else. You'll save yourself an enormous amount of time

• When I open Firefox, I get a page that says that Firefox did not direct properly and to try again. When I click the try again, the home page opens. What can I do to avoid this. It just started today. Rebooting does not help.

This happens only with the home page when I open the browser.

• How can I create a working link from the home page to other pages?

Using iWeb, I created links on the Home page directed to other pages within my web site. The links are located in the main body of the Home page (on the right side) and are not included in the Navigation Menu. The links function correctly when I test them in iWeb, however, the links do not function at all after publishing to the internet.
Within the inspector, I have chosen, Link To: "One of my pages" and the appropriate page is selected.
The links within the gray rectangles do not function. The same links below the gray rectangle links go to a "Page Not Found" page.
See the home page at http://www.daleenstrom.com
How can I make these links function correctly?

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. I've found that using the "One of my pages" often doesn't work. Since you've published the site go to each page, copy its URL and use it for the hyperlink. I've found that to me more reliable.
Are those two links inside the shapes or just on top? Both of those items are one large image file. If you inserted the link in the shape be sure you've selected the text (might take a few clicks to get inside and select it) to use for the hyperlink. Also make sure there are no other objects overlapping each of the shaped with the hyperlinked text.
Also it appears that the entire text box is an image. Turn on iWeb's preferences to display the text image indicator:
and then you'll see the following on any object that will be converted to text once published:
The two links below work for me. Be sure to clear your browsers cache (CommandOptionE for Safari) and reload the page.

• Apps Stopped Working and go back to the home page

Today suddenly my apps stopped working. When i would press them it would come up for a few secs and then go back to the home page. So i deleted all my apps on my ipod and figured i can dl again from my itunes. When i tried syncing the apps i got the msg: Some apps(all of them) were not synced because this computer is not authorized blah blah. I can Sync my songs/photos/vids fine. Can anyone help?

From the message you need to authorize the computer for the account that purchased the apps.  See:
About iTunes Store authorization and deauthorization
ALso make sure the iPod is also sign into that account.
You can also redownload the apps directly to the iPod if you have iOS 4.3 or later,  see:

• Start page lacks menu items - unlike "How to set the home page" view

I have just downloaded the beta of Firefox 4 and am attempting to reproduce opening home page from previous version. Directions on accomplishing this (loading the NY Times front page) depend on a menu bar with "File, Edit, View, History" etc. There are not visible. They are shown in the directions on Firefox Help but not on my computer. How to do this??

Click the Firefox button, then click Options. This will open the options dialog that the How to set the home page article refers to.
When viewing the support articles, in the right-hand column there is a section titled "Help With:", make sure it is set to Windows and Firefox 4 to get help relevant to the version you are using. In some articles you get different content when you select Firefox 4.

• Only safari doesn't show the home page image - why?

Hello
Wonder why the home page image/masthead doesn't show on the home page, ONLY in Safari/mac - every other browser shows it. Would love a fix.
Thoughts?

Thanks very much for the thoughts - I redid that alternate masthead for ie5.5 and updated the link - yes, now the ALTERNATE banner shows but NOT the image I need, which does still show in other browsers. Only in Safari does the alternate masthead now show, but not the main masthead needed.
Below is the code that directs the image for ie 5.5 but why would this affect Safari?

// IE 5.5 isn't able to render the dynamic menu items correctly if
// the size of the header image is too large. To work around this problem,
// IE 5.5 gets a different header image than the other browsers.
if (Request.Browser.Id == "ie55")
mastheadImg.ImageUrl = String.Format("~/Images/homepage/masthead9.jpg", Page.Theme != null ? Page.Theme : Page.StyleSheetTheme);
mastheadImg.Height = 206;
litHeaderHeight.Text = "206px";

Also, here's the code that fixed the Safari fly out menu problem but has caused Safari to not show the proper masthead/image. Any thoughts?

• Since installing the latest FF version 14.0.1 the search boxes on the home page don't work with google

The normal google page works fine, but the search boxes on the home page (below firefox logo and the one top RH corner) just go nowhere unless you change the search provider using the dropdown, to yahoo or bing etc, in whcih case it searches fine - just won't work with google, which I prefer to use. I have an older version 3.6.13 on another desktop and that still works fine.
Any ideas team?

golden-grace, to answer some of your questions:
* Firefox 3.6 is no longer supported and will no longer be updated for security vulnerabilities or any other updates.
*On resetting browser.startup.homepage_override.mstone: It's normal for the "welcome to Firefox" tab to open and for that preference to revert back to user-set and show Firefox 14.0.1 afterwards.
*On deleting the chromeappsstore.sqlite file in the Firefox Profile Folder and then resetting that preference again: You can open the Profile folder from the Firefox Help -> Troubleshooting Information page. See the Profiles article for more information.
* On installing new search engines from http://mycroft.mozdev.org that simply adds new search providers to the Search Bar. It does not install a new search bar. You will still have a single Search Bar and the "normal" Google will still be listed.
Getting back to Google not working from the about:home homepage or from the upper right corner search box, you said,
the page tab changes to "connecting" and the little circle starts revolving, just as though it is looking for the page as normal and at the bottom of the home page the message appears "waiting for www.google.com". You also said in your original post that, The normal google page works fine. Which normal google page is that?
If you can go to www.google.com directly, and it works fine:
I would try removing Google from the list of search providers and then use the "Restore Defaults" button in the Search Bar "Manage Search Engine List" dialog to add it back to the list, then select it again as your default. The Search Bar article explains in detail how to do that. (Alternately, try the Search Reset add-on. This should also add back Google and set it as the default.)
If you try going to www.google.com but it never connects, that's a whole other issue. Putting that aside for now, if you would rather use google.co.uk from the Search Bar, you can install it <u>as an additional choice from the Search Bar drop-down menu</u>, by going here:
* http://mycroft.mozdev.org/google-search-plugins.html ... where it's listed as Google UK - the Web (google.co.uk) by Mycroft Project. (You will still have a single Search Bar and the "normal" Google will still be listed.)
If you try going to www.google.com but it never connects, you could troubleshoot that by following the Basic Troubleshooting article (I would start with clearing cookies and cache) but all of these steps may be frustrating for you. Another option is to simply reset Firefox (which saves your bookmarks, passwords, and some other essential data) to see if that resolves the problem. You can do that from the Firefox Help -> Troubleshooting Information page. For details, read the Reset Firefox – easily fix most problems article. You can then go to http://mycroft.mozdev.org/google-search-plugins.html and select your preferred Google search engine to use from the Search Bar.

• Firefox STILL does not open the home page when a new tab is selected

I have just 'upgraded' to FF4 and expected that the irritating 'new tab homepage load situation' would have been resolved by now: sadly, it looks to STILL be around.
MS IE has been loading the homepage DIRECTLY when a new tab is selected for about FOUR YEARS now, so I'm staggered that such a simple but very useful feature is not available in Firefox.
The obvious question is WHY??
In IE, you don't have to keep hitting the home page button to carry out a search in google when a new tab is selected, and IE does NOT need an 'add-on' to incorporate this functionality; it really is quite irritating that the function is still not built-in to FF, and the coding requiret to incorporate the function ain't rocked science Mozilla people - WHY has this not been put into effect by now?

Some people prefer a blank tab because it takes no time to load. Some people prefer their home page. Some people prefer a list of most frequently used sites. It would be convenient if all of these options were built in, but obviously no one stepped up and made it a priority.
By the way, another way to search in a new tab is: Using the search box (on the toolbar), after typing your query, either press Alt+Enter or Ctrl+click the magnifying glass. This opens the search in a new tab and saves that step.

• How can I move apps from one sheet of the home page to another?

Define "cannot rearrage."  Exactly what did you do and exactly what happened?
Did you press on the icons until they wiggle, slide them to the page you want and then press the home button?

This is my first time doing this but I need help, I don't know if this is fixable but its okay to ask right? But yeah i push log in and it refrshes and goes to the home page so I don't know what to do, and I've reset my iPod before aand that didn't work.

• Bing is taking over Firefox - auto starts on start, or grabs the home page if I start it - how do I stop this? Go to Safari?

Every few months, Bing takes control of Firefox:
When I start the computer, Bing autostarts FF and then makes itself the home page.
If I quickly close FF - I am really upset about this Bing thing and will never use it, so I shut down the autostart FF - and then open FF myself, Bing will open as the home page.
When I check options Gmail is set as the home page. When I check bookmarks, there is nothing for Bing.
This is a pretty egregious MS malware program.
How do I stop this, and keep it from re-occurring? Note that I've already tried the resetting of FF, which means I must reinstall all extensions. That works but only for a few weeks. The Bing malware is back. How do I get rid of this, once and for all? Or could Mozilla have a legal chat with MS, since they are "grabbing" your software in the worst malware fashion.
I use an ASUS F502c. It came with Windows 8; I've upgraded that to 8.1
Thanks,
DMS

Hello,
You can check for malware and/ or reset Firefox to solve this issue:

• After I open FireFax 4 to my home page and then try to navigate elsewhere, I do not have access to the back arrow to return to the home page. What setting is causing this to happen?

Toshiba Satellite Laptop
Vista Home Premium
Firefox 4.0 recently installed
Every time I load Firefox, my home page comes up.
After going to another page, I do not see the back arrow highlighted, and the only way to get to the home page, I have to click on the Home button in the upper right part of the screen and get a new tab. Annoying - yes. Practical - no. I even uninstalled 4 and reloaded with the same results each time.

Then you need a clean install.
First export your bookmarks to a html file. (Bookmarks/Unsorted bookmarks will bring you History page where you can export your bookmarks). Note down your add-ons too.
Uninstall the old FF using free software like Revo Uninstaller. This will delete all the root directories and registries of old FF.
Now download the latest version of FF and install it. You can re-import your bookmarks from your saved html file.
You may still have to do the fix in my first post.
Post here whether this worked for you.
