Directly set role properties

Hi,
is it possible to set role properties directly from a provider
so that they will NOT be stored in user profile ?
I've defined a provider (extendes JSPProvider) and a channel. The channel XML defines a string property:
<...name="key" value="abc" ...>
The channel JSP shows this string. Within the Edit-Screen you can modify key=abc to a new value. But when the
provider calls the setStringProperty method the portal allways create a new channel in user profile and does not
overwrite the string in the role.
I've tried lock=true/false, propagate=true/false, merge=...
Any ideas ?

I don't think there is a simple way to do this...
The reason for that is the inherit relationship in channel definitions and desktop profile.
Why do you want to overwrite the default portal behaviour?
I am just curiuos, why do you want to allow every user to
to overwrite an attribute in a Role and how your channel
would know which role to overwrite(for nested Roles)?!

Is there a way to have the same portlet available on multiple
pages and allow a user to set different properties in a profile
based on the page the portlet is in? For example, if portlet X
is available on page A and page B and the edit tab allows the
user to set value Val1 in a property, is there a way to qualify
the Val1 property with a namespace so that it is associated with
the page it is on? Currently if I have some properties defined
in a profile and I set those profile values in an edit page
and get them in the top portlet, then those same profile values
will be associated with that portlet on all pages. That is with
using the um:getProperty tag. Is there some way through roles
to namespace profile values based on the page the portlet is on?

Sure you can.
Just define separate user property sets and store the information based on
the page the user is on.
You can easily determine the page id using portal API (for example look at
the jsp which renders the page tabs in the framework directory).

Essbase Studio--cannot set essbase properties at parent level

Hi,
I have a recurssive hierarchy product dimension.Source is an oracle table something like
Parent child alias
P p1 ap1
p p2 ap2
p1 p11 ap11
p1 p12 ap12
I have an self-join between parent and child column and have no issues related to hierarchy building
However i am able to set an alias to all other members except the member P.
Any advice on the issue will be helpful!!!

Is P the Dimension name?
For example the dimension is entity and the hierarchy is
Entity all entities
Entity Alternate pollup
All Entities zzz
If so, you would set the properties directly for the Dimension member
IF it is not, then can you add where P is a child of the dimension member?
In recursive hierarchies, you should only be setting the properties on the child members as they should be the parent of other members or the level zero members themselves

Setting Portlet Properties in Development

I am trying out the Portal 9.2 Trial, so am very new to this.
I have created a very simple JSP Portlet in Workshop and created a "Message" Preference for this Portlet with a default value of "Hello World". I have created an instance of this Portlet in a Portal and run it on the server, and in my JSP it displays the default "Hello World" message.
However how do I set another value for this Portlet Preference in my Portal within Workshop? So for example how can I overide the "Hello World" value with something else. I can see how do this through the Administration Console on my Staging site, but not sure how to do the same on the development side within Workshop.
Not sure I really understand the difference between setting up the .portal file in Workshop and the Staging Administration Application.

Unable to set template properties

I have a site which is based off of a responsive design (HTML5/CSS3/jQuery). I've setup a nice template for our Contribute users however I get the "Unable to set template properties" error when I would try to enter the template properties. Additionally, repeating regions don't work at all. No error, nothing. They work great with Dreamweaver, but not Contribute.
I previously had this issue with an older (non-responsive) site which was based off of a Dreamweaver CS5.5 built in template. However with that site, I would get the following error when trying to work with a repeating region, "You can't add items to repeating regions because the draft's parent template is missing or not available to users in your role. Please contact the website administrator." I was able to fix this with the following Contribute 6.5 settings.
Users can ONLY be able to create new pages from copies of select pages. I just made blank versions of the templates I wanted people to use, and just saved them in the /Templates directory.
Be sure creating new pages from site templates is turned OFF.
Be sure creating new pages from content types is turned OFF.
This is not the case with the newer site. I've tried both transitional and compatibility modes in the Contribute site settings but still nothing.
Anyone experiencing this or have any fix ideas?

Update:
Looks like I'm going to have to settle on not using nested templates. I gave it a try with on a page from a single un-nested template and both template properties and repeating regions worked.
So now I'll be including all the global code via PHP includes rather than a master Dreamweaver template. Not sure how that will effect broken link reports or global link updates but it looks like it's the only solution for now.

Why do users get "unable to set template properties" message?

I am trying to administer a new site that was created with DW and has a .dwt (Templates/ locatedat the site root). I'm creating "Publisher" role connection keys so users can edit their subsections of the site. Users should be able to modify template properties when they edit/create new pages.
While testing the keys, the users report that they can connect and edit pages. However, when they try to modify template properties on either a new or existing page, they get this message "Unable to set template properties" and are prevented.
I've tried redefining the site and starting all over, tried CS3 vs. CS4 to see if it was a compatibility issue, looked at forum after forum but can't find any answers. I am experienced with DW but new to Contribute administration so I don't know what else to try. Hoping that someone will have encountered this before and can suggest a solution.

I did find this April 9, 2009 post from majtom2grndctrl that suggests the issue is how contribute treats https:// sites. My site is set up as majtom2grndctrl described and I am having the same problem.
"I've got a problem with not being able to edit Template Properties on our test sites we host on HTTPS servers. I've narrowed down the problem to Contribute CS4 ignoring the website root configuration when it looks for the Templates folder. For example, say you have a site hosted at the following address:
https://www.yourdomain.com/yourfolder/
Contribute is configured to know your site is in /yourfolder/, but for whatever reason, when you open or create a page, and Contribute reads the InstanceBegin template="/Templates/file.dwt" tag at the beginning of HTML documents, it looks for a Templates folder at the HTTP server root, not in /yourfolder/. This prevents Contribute from loading the template while editing a document, and any attempt to edit Template Properties will yield the infamous "Unable to set template properties" dialog box."

Set role on/off

Hello All Oracle Experts,
I have a query regarding set role command.
I was sybase user and migrated to Oracle. Now oracle user.
I have two queries.
1. In sybase, By default, all the roles granted to a user are disabled. You need to enable it if you want to use. But in Oracle, it looks like by default, all the roles granted to a user are enabled. that means, when you login using that user, all the roles granted to it are enabled.
Can we change this behaviour ? I mean by default disabled all the roles
2. It looks like there is no way i can disable only one role in a particular session.. For example, i logged in with user User1. it has roles Role1 and Role2 (which are enabled). Now i want to disable only Role1 for that session and not Role2.
In sybase, i can do that by using Set role Role1 OFF.
Is there any equalent in oracle?
Please help me out in finding the answers. Please do let me know whether my observation regarding oracle or correct or not. You can even direct me to any documentation to know the answers.
I searched in this forum to see if there is any exisitng post. But unfortunately, looks like nobody got the problem which i was facing.

Setting Java Properties

Hi everybody. I have been looking around, but can't find anywhere where you set Java Properties (the one's you get via System.getProperty() ) in the iAS. Our current application has a lot of these properties, and in order for getting it running on the iAS I must be able to specify Java Properties. Does anybody know where I do this (it's an OC4J mod, not JServ).

It's easy - in each OC4J container there is a "server" link (down at the left side). In following screen there are three lines (again at the bottom) - last one is called Java properties. It is where you specify startup parameters for JVM. BTW, you can find them in opmn/conf/opmn.xml. Sometimes, if you hit the wrong button you have to go there and edit directly.

How to set CORS properties for BLOB Storage using node?

Hi - I just got started with Azure using a Node-based web site and mobile services.
I am following various documentation in order to provide an API for users to upload images via a time-restricted SAS for the BLOB Storage.
In order to upload my image, I need to set the CORS configuration for the BLOB Storage. Unfortunately this cannot be done via the management portal.
I'm unclear as to how to accomplish this. I'm considering using the startup.js file in my mobile service to make a post request to the BLOB Storage REST API:

Unfortunately Node SDK does not support CORS functionality yet. Your option would be to write code which consumes the REST API for setting CORS. Not sure if it helps but there's a free tool out there written by my company which you can use to set CORS
on your storage account. More information about this tool can be found here:

Hello,
It is not possible with advanced file I/O LabVIEW VIs.
There is a possible workaround by using low level Windows functions in a dll.
Perhaps the easier would be to set your properties at the top of your file.

I'm using Crystal Reports 2008 for the report design and new crystal report java sdk of JRC (v12.2 with SP1) which know as CRJ in my J2EE application.

running a report with two command from java (the first contains a simple "SEt ROLE role",
the second contains a simple select) is raised the error "No results returned by the query" while in
Crystal Reports 2008's preview the report works fine.
Therefore I ask: "Is it possible to run a report that contains a query without result from Java?
How can do with the SET ROLE command, which is essential for me?"

Labels pointing to pie slices with lines (or how 2 set chart properties in code behind)

I want to be able to create lines outside of my pie chart with labels and have those lines drawn to connect to the pie chart. I saw that this can be done in code behind in the following thread:

But my problem is I never declared an instance of my chart when I am using my code behind. My code that makes the reports visible is basically (but not completely) the following:

Based on your description, you want to design a
pie chart with outside lables and pie line inside a .rdlc report. If so, you can add the Chart report item into the report after open a client report definition (.rdlc) file in graphical design mode. And then Set the
PieLabelStyle property and PieLineColor property. Please refer to the following screen shot:

Chart Web server control. As pre my undersntand, you cannot reference a Web server control inside .rdlc file.

Sorry for the typo. It's a BDC source, I use a WCF client to access a SQL Database (HR External System) that has 4 fields that are necessary to present in the Sharepoint User Profile. The issue occurs with a Full or a Delta Sync. The problem is that if the
BDC source is not present the fields are deleted (I get a SPS-Dummy Added and all of the pbjects in the BDC Connector Space are deleted).
I do not want this to happen. I do not want the User Profile Attributes/Fields to be empty/deleted if there is no connection I simply want them to stay what they are... I have two issues.
1) Is that the even if i change my data on SQL Server side, the changes do not get picked up by the sync. Since the only field that is being tested for change is an ADid, since the id does not change the BDC does not consider them changes.
2) If there is no connection I do not want the attributes to be deleted. I have not figured out a way to effectively do this.
So my issue appears to be simple to solve, but after 4 days and hundreds of tutorial pages read I have yet to figure out a proper way to do this.
Here is the pseudo-specification
The Fields that come form the HR System (SQL Server) are to be presented in the user profile. If there is no connection to the BDC file the fields remain as they are until there is a connection and updates can be made. Changes to any of the fields are performed
manually in the HR system. These changes must be picked up by the daily sync.

How do I set individual properties for a column in report layout at runtime? I need to change this based on a user's input. This is for v10g.
I need to change either the "Read from File" attribute or the "File Format" attribute for one column based on the user's input. IS this possible?

The note at the bottom of the first section (About formatting text (CSS versus HTML)) says -
"You can combine CSS and HTML 3.2 formatting within the same page. Formatting is applied in a hierarchical manner: HTML 3.2 formatting overrides formatting applied by external CSS style sheets, and CSS embedded in a document overrides external CSS."
Please be aware that embedded CSS will ONLY override external CSS if the external CSS link is closer to the tag than the embedded CSS (i.e., it comes earlier in the flow of the document). If the embedded CSS comes first in the flow of the document, it will be overridden by the external CSS instead.
