Disable content indexing for passive nodes

I have three node DAGs where one node is DR in another site.
Have noticed large amounts of traffic on my production network to DR and discovered it was indexing.
Is it best practice to disable the indexing service on passive nodes? In the event of DR you would lose search, and you would have to disable client experience checks. But other than that, I cannot a real downside. Can someone
confirm?
As an alternative is it possible to move indexing to my replication network?

Great information from JasonApt.
We can disabled on a specific mailbox database by using EMS:
Set-MailboxDatabase <name> -IndexEnabled:$False.
To disable indexing completely on a mailbox server, we can just stop the "Microsoft Exchange Search Indexer" service.

You are absolutely right it is not possible to get multiple hierarchy using file content conversion.
Splitbyvalue function would not work in my scenario as I need to group FED records based on first few characters in the first column of FED records. I wrote a UDF to insert context change based on the column value.

DepthTest.DISABLE not working for my node?

Hello all!
I basically have a root container with 3D objects with a Perspective Camera set up in the scene; however I have a JFXtras Window set up as a List and a GridView via ControlsFX. I am Using the GridView to also Display 3D content, and I want to turn the DepthTest to Disable, however it isn't working.
I have tried setting
window.setDepthTest(DepthTest.DISABLE);
GridView.setDepthTest(DepthTest.DISABLE);
setDepthTest(DepthTest.DISABLE); //This and the line below are for the CellFactory of the GridView, to see if either worked on the cell's themselves.
setDepthTest(DepthTest.DISABLE);
Not too sure if I am doing something wrong, or if I should report this to Jira? Thanks!

Exchange 2013: Content Index State Failed

I am running two, two node DAG's with Exchange 2013.
One DAG pair is running 5 databases with Server 2012 Standard and the second DAG pair is running Server 2008 R2 SP1 Standard with a single shared database.
No matter what I try, ALL 6 databases show "ContentIndexState: Failed" with "ContentIndexErrorMessage: An internal error occurred for the database or its index.".
I have tried rebuilding the indexes manually, automatically and manually copying the database files between servers. I also receive errors when trying to failover the databases because the content index state is failed.
In my test environment I have a very similar setup working fine with no issues.
Please let me know what I can try to get this resolved.

Looking at the two services mentioned in this warning I've noticed the Microsoft Exchange Search Host Controller (HostControllerService)

After Changing it to Automatic and enabling it, the problem was salved

Licensing Windows Server in a Cluster (Passive Node)

Do I need to purchase a Windows Server license for passive nodes in a Fail-Over cluster? Passive means it is running behind a VIP but no users are accessing the passive node as long as the active node is up and running. Both nodes are
identical (running the same version and edition of Windows server). Please tell me if this differs for version 2008,2003 or even for Ent, Data Center or Standard editions.

Disable "Allow files on this drive to have contents indexed in addition to file properties" for Mointpoints

I wandt to optimize all our SQL Servers and so I want to disable the "Allow files on this drive to have contents indexed in addition to file properties" option in the Volume Properties.
The SQL Server is installed under D:\SQLSERVER which is a normal folder.
For the root and sub directories d:\ the following solution works:

But we have Mountpoints for the Data and Log Files under D:\SQLUSRDATA and D:\SQLUSRLOG. When I use the NotContentIndexed Attribute on this direcotry there is no error message. But when I go to Properties of the Mountpoint folder under General >
Properties The "Allow files..." option is still activated.
Is there a solution to deactivate Indexing on Mointpoints via Powershell?

Your question has nothing to do with scripting.
I recommend that all SQLServer systems have a GP applied that sets the minimum requirements for the server. This would include disabling the indexing service which serves no purpose on a SQLServer based system. You should also disable all AV
scanning of SQLServer folders as this can create performance issues and may make SQLServer unstable. Many AV products will skip database files on purpose.
The indexer will not index SQLServer files unless you have altered its behavior so, mostly, what you are doing is unnecessary.
Post you issues in the SQLServer forum to get the latest requirements and settings for you implementation.
Again thisis not a scripting issue and it should not bemanaged via a script. It is a deployment issue and should bemanaged in that way. YOu can use PowerShell V4 and later DSC SDK to set a standard "Desired State" for you SQLServers.
Use of DSC with SQLServer should also be worked out with the SQLServer forum MVPs and others there.

Metadata Server says content indexing is disabled, how to enable?

My Spotlight has been hobbled for some time... I just downloaded and ran Spotless 2, and it says:
The Metadata Server is reporting that content indexing is DISABLED for the volume Macintosh HD but the volume itself is reporting that the content indexing status is set to ENABLED.
Spotless tried to enable indexing, but could not.
Spotlight finds some things, but not everything... mds ran after I tried adding my drive to the Privacy settings and then removing it... and mdiutil says Indexing disabled no matter what:
$ sudo mdutil -i on /
Indexing disabled.
What should I do?

We are trying to add extensions to a fusion Application. When i have created an Application 'Fusion Customizations Application'.
In the Role 'Oracle Fusion Applications Administratror Customizations', and in Customizable Archive, Some Business Components are Not customizable while some of them are Customizable.
getting below error in Log file
Customizations are disabled for the node "ProposedJobVO.xml" because it is not part of the project contentset.
Does this mean we cannot modify this VO or we need to do anything else to get these components included in Project Content Set?

"Customizations are disabled for the node xxxx because it is not part of the project contentset". This warning is logged if you try to open a node for customization in customizaion role IN FA environment from Application Resources->connections->customizable archive ,
as this node is not a part of project. In order to add it to the project you will have to right click on the node and select customize this will add the node to the virtual content set of project.
Now this node will be available under project and can be customized.

How do I disable "Exceptions" button for "Block pop-up windows" in Content tab?. I am able to Disable other Exception buttons in this tab using about:config preference.

Need a way to disable "Exception" button for "Block Pop-up windows" in Tools-> Options -> Content tab. I want to be able to do this for Locking Down Firefox preferences.

That button doesn't have a pref associated with it, so you can't disable that button with a pref on the about:config page or a lockPref call.
That only leaves the choice to remove that button with code in userChrome.css

Database passive content index state stays FailedAndSuspended even after reseeding

I have a mailbox database with two copies in a database availability group, the active copy is healthy and its content index state reports healthy as well, the passive copy is healthy but its content index state reports FailedAndSuspended.
I tried the: Update-MailboxDatabaseCopy <DBName>\<ServerName> -CatalogOnly more than one time, it completes (says 100KB written) but the state never changes.
I even tried to manually stop the service>delete CI>start the service, the CI folder was recreated (about 1 GB) but still the state is still FailedAndSuspended.
Please Help!

Hide "No content available for this navigation node" message

Hello everybody,
we run EP7 SP022. We have a role with several BI reports / iViews. As long as the user selects no report the message "No content available for this navigation node" is shown. As far as I know this is standard behavoir but we'd like to hide this message.
SAP note 1437667 says: "When navigating to a folder/workset/role which has no default content to be displayed, the content area should render the default content component which is configured at property "DefaultContent" in the content area iView. The default value for this property is:
"pcd:portal_content/com.sap.pct/every_user/general/com.sap.portal.noContentMessage", which is the pcd location of SAP default content component."
Does anybody know where the mentioned "content area iView" can be found, so that we could change the "DefaultContent" property ?

1.- Select the option content manage
2.- Portal´s Content - select your node if you have it, if not select content avaliable for sap.
3.- Content for final user
4.- Portal standar users
5.- Standar Framework Page . open this object
5.1 .-Select internal area of desktop open it.
5.2.- Select option content area and open it.
5.3.- In property category on combo box, select show all by category.
6 .- Search Default Content field and erase this content pcd:portal_content/com.sap.pct/every_user/general/com.sap.portal.noContentMessage
Save the changes.

Hi,
I am receiving the message "No content available for this navigation node" on clicking System Administration in Portal. I receive the same messages for the other roles .
Can somebody kindly help?

It was a change in the default behavior, then when navigating to a folder/workset/role which has no default content to be displayed, the content area should render the default content component which is configured at property "DefaultContent" in the content area iView.
The default value for this property is:
"pcd:portal_content/com.sap.pct/every_user/general/com.sap.portal.noCont
entMessage"
which is the pcd location of SAP default content component.
This property can also be configured with the pcd location of any component, It can also be set to an empty string if it desired to continue with the old behavior (empty page is displayed).
Also in NW 7.01 SP8 it also have changed back to the old behavior - So in case you are upgrading your system to this version no changes are needed.

No Content available for this navigation node message after Portal Upgrade

Hi,
After Portal upgrade to 7.01 EHP1 SP7, when we are clicking on any role at the TLN, the Portal Content area is showing the message " No Content available for this navigation node". However before upgrade when we are clicking on any TLN role the content area used to show the first iview in the folder in the detailed navigation.
Please help as we are in a very critical state.

I already gone through this thread but iwe will get an empty page if we will change the value of default content to null in the Content Area iview. My requirement is to expand the folder in the detail navigation area and display the first iview in that folder in the content area whenever we click on any role in the TLN.

Disabling Indexing for a DSL

Hi All,
My model base is huge(lots of xtext resources), it also contains generated files which are once again xtext files. So when i do a clean build, is there a way that i can ignore indexing of some xtext resources.
For Ex :
I have .a, .b, .c, .d files in my project
.a and .b are used for code generation, whereas .c and .d are generated(But they are also xtext DSL) . So is there a way to stop indexing for .c and .d files.
Also, May i should need to reenable them when i require ?(Just curious about this )
