Disable hide/show of tab bar

Most of the sample applications use a tab bar at the bottom to switch between features. This tab bar usually has a little blue button to hide and show the tab bar. Examples are the DeviceDemo and DvtGalery. For me, this feel not very iOS like and I don't want to show this button to hide/show the tab bar. For example: https://docs.google.com/open?id=0B0EvDYuyTjZzdGh3YS1YaWZrdEE
Other sample apps, like LifeCycle do not show this button but I can't see what the difference is at design time to disable this feature. For example: https://docs.google.com/open?id=0B0EvDYuyTjZzdWNXLXJ6SVRzaDg
Does anyone know how I can disable the feature of showing/hiding the tab bar?

Never mind. Already found it. It's in the adfmf-application.xml which can be found in the Application Resources > Descriptors > ADF META-INF. That has a checkbox to show the navigation bar toggle button, or in XML:
<adfmf:navigation>
    <adfmf:navigationBar displayHideShowNavigationBarControl="false"/>
</adfmf:navigation>

  • Why is it that when I set the preference to always show the tab bar, it refuses to stay checked after I quit Firefox and restart it?

Using Mac OSX10.6.7 and FF 4.0.1, I'm having a problem with the preference to always show the tab bar. I want it to always show. I check this in the Preferences under the "tab" window, and everything is fine until I quit FF and when I restart FF the tab bar is gone again. I go into preferences, and that option is now unchecked. How can I fix this so that my preference is saved?

That hasn't helped the last ten times I tried. I posted before. I deleted the preferences file, I tried changing the preferences file, I went into about:config and changed the autoHide preference there. No dice. Firefox is not saving my preference for that one thing.

  • Disabling hide/show in finder sidebar

Is there anyway to disable the hide/show feature in the sidebar of Mountain Lion.

    HI Peter,
Try repairing disk permissions on the 2nd MacBook.
Quit any open applications/programs. Launch Disk Utility. (Applications/Utilities) Select MacintoshHD in the panel on the left, select the FirstAid tab. Click: Repair Disk Permissions. When it's finished from the Menu Bar, Quit Disk Utility and restart your Mac. If you see a long list of "messages" in the permissions window, it's ok. That can be ignored. As long as you see, "Permissions Repair Complete" when it's finished... you're done. Quit Disk Utility and restart your Mac.
    See if that helps.

  • Firefox 35 won't hide address and tab bar in full screen on OS X 10.10

Hi, when I put firefox full screen, I expect the address bar and tab bar to auto-hide. From google searching it seems like this was expected behavior some time ago. A pic -> 1000 words.

Nope, zero styles in Stylish currently, this is a new install. As well I've tried going full-screen with all addons disabled and I get the exact same result.

  • How to disable "Double Click on Tab Bar to Open New Tab" feature?

Since I upgraded to FF3 I've noticed this very annoying feature with tabs. If you double-click the 2-3 pixel wide bar just beneath tabs, it opens a new empty tab and sets the focus to that new tab (Which means I then have to go close that tab before going back to the tab I originally wanted). I happen to do this a lot by mistake (I go to click on a tab, but haven't clicked high enough, and of course, it doesn't change to the tab, so I unconsciously click again, which activates a new tab). I never open new empty tabs (alt-enter + middle click), and I have tabs to load in the background (i.e. to not *steal* the focus), so everything about this feature serves as an annoyance to me. Is there anyway to disable this "feature" (Either by disabling it, or making the width of the bar 0. I don't care either way)?
    == This happened ==
    Every time Firefox opened
    == I upgraded to FF3

You can hold down the mouse button on a scroll button a bit longer to initiate scrolling multiple tabs.<br />
Otherwise you need to wait longer between the clicks on the scroll button.<br />
If you click twice on a tab bar scroll button too fast then you perform a 'page up' or 'page down' and the tabs scroll a tab bar width like you noticed.
I'm not sure what you mean with new feature because this is the behavior in Firefox 3.6.x as well.

  • "Always Show the Tab Bar" Not Functioning Properly

Using Firefox 13 with Windows XP Professional. Even though my tab options are set to "always show tab bar" my tab bar isn't showing when there is just the single page. If I add more than one tab to the window they will show up but the first one will not and the only way to see its page content is to remove the additional tabs. If I have five tabs open at one time for example only four will be visible.

  • Hide/Show Finder Window "Bars" Button?

Snow leopard had a really useful feature associated with Finder windows that allowed all of the various bars (Tool, Side, Path, Status) to be activated/deactivated at one time. Lion took this away (but allowed those features to be active/inactve independently, which while useful does require more work.
What I would like to be able to do is somehow add that brilliant one-click option back. I think I can do this with Applescript or Automator, but am not sure if it is possible to add the script to the Actions menu (or better yet a button on the title bar, wishfully thought).
    Anybody have a solution?
    Thanks.

  • Cannot disable "always show tab bar" in FF 28.0?

FF 19 had an option to deselect "always show tab bar" so that the tab bar is shown only when 2 or more tabs are open.
FF 28 seems to always show the tab bar. I don't see any way to disable that (unless 2 or more tabs are open).
How can I coerce FF 28 to not show tab bar unless 2 or more tabs are open?

waka wrote: "In Firefox 23 and up, as part of an effort to simplify the Firefox options set and facilitate future improvements to Firefox, the option to hide the tab bar was removed. Fortunately, this can easily be resolved if you desire the keep tabs hidden. You can install "Hide tab bar with one tab", an extension hosted on Mozilla's add-ons site".
That definitely "helps" insofar as you addressed my question dispositively.
However, I do not agree with the decision. How does removing one option substantially "simplify" things? How does forcing me to install an add-on "simplify" things for me, the customer?
FYI, I few add-ons as potential risks and a definite maintenance headache. A GUI add-on is probably more susceptible to compatibility issues.
If you want to "simplify" the GUI by removing one option from a menu (that isn't very "busy" in the first place; klunk!), at least provide an about:config option to control this behavior.
As for "facilitating future improvements", that is not my concern, a customer. Everything is SMOP.
I was in product development and maintenance for 35 years, and we always put the customer first. One of our cardinal rules was: do not remove a feature unless it is a security risk; and even then, we might leave an option to re-enable the feature "at your own risk".
Oh well, I'm probably p.i.s.s.ing into the wind. But thanks again for an accurate response.

  • Always show tab bar - Safari 3 - Leopard

Hey. I recently lost all of my Home Folder's files, and now Safari 3 in Leopard does not allow me to always show the tab bar. I look in preferences, and the option is not there.
How do I enable to always show the tab bar?

    Hi
    Welcome to Apple Discussions
Go to the View Menu>Show Tab Bar or Shift/Command/T keys to show or hide. Tabs need to be enabled in your Safari Preferences>Tabs.
As you have a new Safari Preference file, besides resetting the preferences in the preference panel, you'll need to reset any custom options, such as spelling in the Edit Menu or the various options in the View Menu. Also, additional icons can be added via View>Customize Toolbar via Drag/Drop on the ToolBar.

  • Temporarily show tab bar upon switching tabs with the keyboard in fullscreen mode

I use Firefox in fullscreen mode and switch tabs with Ctrl + PgUp/PgDn. I need to peek at the tab bar when I switch tabs, to avoid searching for the desired tab with multiple shortcut presses.
Is there a way to temporarily show the tab bar when I switch tabs with the keyboard shortcut? I want the tab bar to hide again after, say, 2 seconds of no tab switching.

You can try to set the focus to the location bar with Ctrl+L before switching the tabs to make the toolbar and tab bar appear.

  • Disable/Hide Index Tab in WinHelp2000?

    Hi folks,
Is there any way to disable/hide the Index tab in WinHelp
    2000?
We built a project using RoboHelp for Word (RoboHelp Office
X5) and the team decided they didn't have time to bother with an
index AND they felt the index would be of little value, since there
were tons of duplicate topics (formerly field names) with the same
name (ex: Description, Address, etc). They also didn't feel they
had the time to carefully "scrub" an index built using SmartIndex.
I tried building one using SmartIndex, and it stopped after it got
part way through several hundred Word docs (total of 517) and
several thousand topics (total of 2,680).
With all of the Index keywords stripped out of the project, a
blank index pane looks pretty ugly.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Jim

    Colum,
Thanks for getting back to me. I agree - a well done index is
worth it, probably worth more than the full-text search in this
case. Unfortunately, when the help was originally created for the
DOS version of the application, the programmers decided to create
field level help for EVERY field (2,680 total). Since none of these
topics provided any context for which field belonged to which
screen, it's now kind of confusing to go through an index and view
17 different "County" fields from 17 different fields, all with
different descriptions. If I had the chance, I would have
completely changed the goal of the help into something more useful.

  • I'd like to use Fox Tab exclusively and not have the tab bar at all. Is this possible?

This isn't so much a problem as a request for information. Like the topic says, I want Firefox to not show the tab bar at all, but still retain the tab function so that I can open tabs and view them with Fox Tab.

Fox Tab wasn't what I had the problem with, I was simply trying to provide background information that could possibly help someone answer me. fortunately, it worked. indirectly. edmeister, your tip led me to Fox Tab's options, where I found a check box next to "Hide tab bar."

  • Hide/Show Subtabs in PPR/SPEL

    Hi All,
Have one page with subtablayout with six tabs. Based on value selected in picklist in another region of page, have to hide/show few tabs.
As it is picklist, requirement is to implement this thru PPR only.
Tried setting SPEL attribute for render property for regions under subtab but it is not working.
    Any suggestion/approach to implement it?
    Thanks,
    Chetan

    Hi,
The SPEL can only be use with a VO and its attribute. The usage for this is ${oa.VO.VOattribute) set in rendered property. if you want to hide a tab based on a vo attribute then you can use SPEL. You can hide the tabs by capturing the post back event of the other beans in processFormRequest.
    Amar.

  • PVII Tab Bar Magic Issue in DWCS3 Mac

I posted this on the PVII but no one has answered it so far
and I am stuck with a major client site update until I get an
    answer...
When I open up a .DWT file it shows the Tab Bar Magic menu as
bullets while I am in design view. When I preview it in the Safari
    browser it shows correctly.
Is there something wrong with my Dreamweaver or is it the TBM
    plugin doing this?
I also noticed in other PVII plugins the same behavior. Such
    as the Tab Panel Magic.
Do I need to reset my Dreamweaver or delete the refs or
    something?
    Please advise, thanks.
