Disable Logging of Failed Tests by Individual Step

Hello All,
I have an experimental version of a test sequence that will loop through and attempt several different sets of input parameters until it obtains the desired outcome.  When it does obtain the desired outcome, I then log/report the set of input parameters that were used, and disregard all others. The issue I am having is that I do not know how to disable logging of the step iterations that failed (the ones I want to disregard).  I can disable reporting of failed tests for the entire sequence, but I do not know how to do limit it so specific tests/steps.  I've tried a few ideas related to deleting the current element from the report, but that doesn't seem to work correctly for my application.  Please advise.
Thanks in advance,
GSinMN

There is sure another way to solve it. How about looking into the "Step Execution" topic in the TestStand help?
You can see that as "Action Number" 18 (21/24 when looping) is evaluation of the Status. In Action Number 29, the Post Action is performed.
You can call a Sequence when the step result is passed or failed (independently).
The idea is to call a subsequence passing the Step reference and enter the results into the ResultList in there. The calling step(s) would not record their results.

  • Disable logging to database for a single step

I need to record a step to report but that particular step should not be recorded to database. Any suggestions on how to achieve this?
A part of the database schema I have is:
The schema handles results as follows:
    - Logs UUT Results to the UUT_RESULT table.
    - Logs Step Results to STEP_RESULT table.
    - Logs sequence call step details to STEP_SEQCALL table.
Currently all the steps are getting recorder under STEP_RESULT table.
Also is there a way to make it generic so that when this particular step type is used it never gets logged to database but does show on the report?
    Thanks.

I believe you have two options to ignore a specific step type:
    1) You can set the Precondition setting for the STEP_RESULT statement to something like:
        Logging.StepResult.TS.StepType != "MyStepTypeNameToIgnore"
    2) You can set the Result Filtering Expression setting for the Database Options tab to
        Logging.StepResult.TS.StepType != "MyStepTypeNameToIgnore"
If there was a unique property for these steps, you could use the existence of that property.

  • Report results of test in different step

    Hello All,
I have a section of a test sequence that loops through several iterations while looking for an acceptable result. The only result I am interested in is the passing result (or the last iteration if a passing result is not found).  I've tried a few different things like removing the result of the failed step from the result list, but this doesn't work if on-the-fly reporting is enabled.
I have read a few different articles and posts that sound like they may have a better solution.  If I disable result recoding on the individual step inside the loop, then use a seperate step, after the loop to only record the result of the last iteration, the failed steps will never get into the report, even if on the fly reporting is enabled (presumably).
My question is this: It is unclear to me how to set up that extra step outside the loop to copy the result from a previous step. Please advise.
    Thanks in advance,
    GSinMN

Give this one a try.  I think it is what you are looking for.  If you set up the looping on the step correctly it will only display the last result.  I have to stop looping if the step is pass.
Let me know if you have questions or concerns.

    Hi Ychinnari,
I have tested on my local environment and can reproduce the issue, as
Vaishu00547 mentioned that the issue can be caused by the Execution Account you have configured in the Reporting Services Configuration Manager is not correct, Please update the Username and Password and restart the reporting services.
Please also find more details information about when to use the execution account, if possible, please also not specify this account:
This account is used under special circumstances when other sources of credentials are not available:
When the report server connects to a data source that does not require credentials. Examples of data sources that might not require credentials include XML documents and some client-side database applications.
When the report server connects to another server to retrieve external image files or other resources that are referenced in a report.
    Execution Account (SSRS Native Mode)
If you still have any problem, please feel free to ask.

Since you have multiple Oracle homes, you are probably looking at the wrong tnsnames.ora. The reason why SQL*Plus is working is because it is being picked up from an Oracle Home where the correct tnsnames.ora resides. Here is a quick way to confirm this
    - Stop the Apache Listener service
    - Open a "Console prompt window"
    - Go to $IAS_HOME/Apache/Apache
    - Set TNS_ADMIN=Directory_with_correct_tnsnames.ora
    - Issue "tnsping your_dbalias_name" to verify that you can ping the database. If this does not work, then your tnsnames.ora is incorrect
    - If it works, startup Apache by issuing "start Apache -k start"
    - Try connecting to Portal thru your browser
    - This should work.
    - Post a reply if this does not work<HR></BLOCKQUOTE>

  • Where the string "failed" is created in steps in the main sequence to fill into Parameter.Result PostUUT in the NI teststand II courese example 4-1 Modifying callback.seq

For PostUUT in  the NI teststand II  courese example 4-1 Modifying callback.seq, there are two steps, one is Test Passed,
the other is Test Failed, both set each preconditions, for example, Parameters.Result.Status == "Failed"  in the test failed step, if the step failed in the main sequence, the string "failed " is filled into Parameters.Result.Status
but I can't find where the string "failed" is created in steps in the main sequence.
Because I can't find any expression in any steps  to fill into Parameters.Result of  the test failed step in the PostUUT.
In fact, when running if step fails, the string "failed " is filled into Parameters.Result.Status
Would you please  explain for it ?
    thanks,

    Hi,
Look at the Sequential Model Sequence File, and either the sequence SinglePass of Test UUTs for the step that invokes the step Post UUT.
Then look at the Parameter List for the SequenceCall for that step. you will find your answer.

    Steven DeSalvo

    Hi StevenDE2012,
Based on the error message "The report server has encountered a configuration error. Logon failed for the unattended execution account. (rsServerConfigurationError)", it seems that the Unattended Execution Account settings in Reporting Services
    Configuration is not correct.
Reporting Services provides a special account that is used for unattended report processing and for sending connection requests across the network. Unattended report processing refers to any report execution process that is triggered by an event rather than
a user request. The report server uses the unattended report processing account to log on to the computer that hosts the external data source. This account is necessary because the credentials of the Report Server service account are never used to connect
to other computers. To configure the account, please refer to the following steps:
Start the Reporting Services Configuration tool and connect to the report server instance you want to configure.
On the Execution Account page, select Specify an execution account.
Type the account and password, retype the password, and then click Apply.
In addition, please verify you have access to the Report Server database by following steps:
Go to SQL Server Reporting Services Configuration Manager, make sure the configuration is correct.
Go to Database, Verify that you can connect to the database.
Make sure you are granted public and RSExecRole roles.
    Reference:
    Configure the Unattended Execution Account
Configure a Report Server Database Connection
If the problem is unresolved, i would appreciate it if you could give us detailed error log, it will help us move more quickly toward a solution.
    Thanks,
    Wendy Fu

  • How can assign a PASS/FAIL test to each element of a cluster?

I would like to pass a cluster from Labview 8.6  to TestStand 4.1.1 and apply a pass/fail test to each boolean element of the cluster.  For elements of the cluster that are string values, I would like to apply a string value test.  For elements of the cluster that are numeric values, I would like to apply numeric value or limit tests.  How can I do this?

    Hi epsilon-delta,
The best way to do this would be to create a custom data type from that cluster and store the output of your vi to a local variable. You can then add Pass/Fail Test, Numeric Limit Test and String Value Test steps (using the None adapter) after the Action step to test each element of the cluster.

    Log on failed., System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException (0x80000000):
    No error.

    Here is my code:
            Try
Dim PathToDB As String = mReportLog
                Me.crPrinterUse = New AXIARReports
                Dim ds As Data.DataSet = clsDataSet.ReportDataSet(PathToDB)
                Me.crPrinterUse.SetDataSource(ds)
                Me.crPrinterUse.Database.Tables(0).SetDataSource(ds.Tables(0))
                Dim SubReport As CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine.ReportDocument
                For i As Integer = 0 To Me.crPrinterUse.Subreports.Count - 1
                    SubReport = Me.crPrinterUse.Subreports(i)
                    SubReport.SetDataSource(ds)
                    SubReport.Database.Tables(0).SetDataSource(ds.Tables(0))
                Next
                Me.crPrinterUse.VerifyDatabase()
                Me.crv.ReportSource = Me.crPrinterUse
            Catch ex As Exception
MessageBox.Show("Error setting report data: " & ex.Message & vbLf & "Check the log file for more details.", _
                    "Report Data Error", MessageBoxButtons.OK, MessageBoxIcon.Error)
                cGlobal.Log("Error setting report data: " & ex.Message & ", " & ex.InnerException.ToString)
                Throw New Exception(ex.Message)
            End Try
I ran the modules appliacation and noticed that the development machine version is slightly different from the deployed machine.
Version of file on the deployed machine: 12.0.0.840
Could this be causing my porblem?  If so, how do I solve this?
I also have VS 2008 installed on my machine.
    Thanks,
    Karen

    Thanks for your reply Ludek.
I performed the steps in your blog.  Using the XML file that the data set creates with the embeded schema gives me no mapping errors.
I simplifiied my report to the simplest form, just a few fields in the details. I simplified the XML source file to just two records and found that the report is loading the data file in the connection used at design time.  I have checked off Save Data with Report.  So there must be some step that I am missing so that the report at runtime accepts the data set as the new data an not attempt to connect.
I will review my code again and see if there is something essential that I missed.  I will report back.

  • Multiple Numeric Limit Test - Accessing only the failed tests

I would to access only the failed tests in a multiple numeric limit test.  The specific information I want to access is the measurement value, low limit, high limit, and comparator type.  I need to access these pieces of information during runtime from a Message Popup, therefore i have to use the Message Expression field in the "Text and Buttons" tab of the Message Popup step to access this information.

    Hi,
PostStepFailureCallback is the one you want to start with. The only difference is where you get the data from the Step.Results.
For the Limits etc you will need to look in the Measurement property. Also, beware that you are dealing with an array of data.

  • Log the failed logins

    Hi,
I want to log the failed logins.
    I did :
    touch /var/adm/loginlog
    chmod 600 /var/adm/loginlog
    chgrp sys /var/adm/loginlog
    in /etc/default/login : retries=5 is uncommented ans syslog=yes and syslog_failed_logins=5
    svcadm refresh system/system-log
    vi /etc/security/policy.conf-----lock_after_retries=yes
Still when I login with the wrong password 5 times by root or ordinary user then check the /var/adm/loginlog file
    It is empty
It is not showing any logs
    Please help.
    Thanks

What command are you using to attempt the (failed) logins?
I was able to get this to work by using these 3 steps:
    # touch /var/adm/loginlog
    # chmod 600 /var/adm/loginlog
    # chgrp sys /var/adm/loginlog
Then, I attempted 5 login attempts into this system with rlogin.
The newly created log looks like this:
    # more /var/adm/loginlog

  • Trouble with the pass/fail test

I started having this trouble just recently and I can't figure out the problem. Just all of a sudden (without me changing anything anywhere apparently), whenever I call a pass/fail test and if the test fails, the sequence execution immediately goes to the <End Group> step. I want the execution to proceed with the next step regardless of a pass or a fail. I have rechecked the run options repeatedly and there's nothing in there that might be causing this. Also, if a pass/fail step fails and I am running on single pass, even the report does not get generated.
I know it can be really hard for someone out there to tell me what the problem is. I am posting this message here just to see if people have any general comments/suggestions on what might be going on (perhaps this is a common problem which someone has run into before). The comments/suggestions might help me debug the problem.
    Thanks
    Anuj

    Hi Anuj,
Do you have other step type in the same sequence or just Pass/Fail type?
What adapter type are you using, LabVIEW, CVI, etc...
Does it happen in the just one sequence or any sequence?
    What versions are you using?
    Posting an example would help.
