Disable Network Port Monitoring

I have a couple network switch ports that are no longer in use. The ports had a couple of OpsMgr agents plugged into them, so they showed up as monitored ports, but those computers have now been virtualized and the physical hardware was shut
down. The network port state is now showing as Critical health in OpsMgr because nothing is plugged in. I tried to run the Disable Port Monitoring task, but it does not seem to do anything. Any ideas?

By default, Operations Manager 2012 will only monitor ports that are connected to another device that is being monitored. Ports that are not connected will not be monitored."
If you don't have a device connected to any port that is already monitored by SCOM, you can  manually enabling selected interface monitors, i.e. open the Diagram view of the interface, navigate to the port, open the Health Explorer of the port, select
the monitor such as Interface Status -> Operational Status, and create an override to enable that monitor.

  • Disable Network Ports Except Lan Card Port ?

I have a small company where there is no Internet Access Due to some privacy. all the Users are on Domain around 20 Computers but the problem is some of our employes are very cunning for there entertainment they are connecting there smart-phones and using
internet through USB Tethering, Portable Hotspot, USB Wireless Devices etc. So my question is, Is there any option to disable all external network devices which is connecting to the computer except Disabling Lan Card through REGEDIT or any other away plz help
me in finding out the best Solution For this.
    Thanks In Advance !

    Follow this article : http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/magazine/2007.06.grouppolicy.aspx
Basically it explain how to implement hardware restriction in a domain environment using group policy.
You can apply what's explained in the article in your case as well to prevent users to install and use usb network devices or connection of usb smartphones or whatever devices you don't want being installed on your machines.
You'll find the policies that matches your needs under:
    Computer Configuration/Administrative Templates/System/Device Installation/Device Installation Restrictions
In your case you can use these policies if you want to work with prevention:
Prevent installation of devices that match any of these device IDs: Specific hardware and compatible IDs you enter in this policy are forbidden from being installed.
Prevent installation of devices using drivers that match these setup classes: Device GUIDs entered here are disallowed from installing. Prevent policies have higher priority over allowed polices. If a device class GUID is configured for both
allow and disallow policies, then the devices will not be allowed to install.

  • Disable port monitoring task not working

    Hi,
On SCOM 2012 SP1 the task "disable port monitoring" is not working. When I run it shows a success message but the port\interface keeps to be monitored on scom, the ports that I'm trying to disable the monitoring are members of the Relay Network
Adapters Group. Is there any way to fix this task or manually stop the monitoring of the port\interface ?

    Hi Carlos,
By coincidence I ran into the same problem today.
It can be disabled by creating an override where you target the specific port object and set the parameter enabled=false.
I am not 100% sure this is the correct way but it works. I am assuming the disable port does something similar but I have to open up the task to confirm this.
For now I hope this helps.

  • Unable to disable Network Monitor in Flash Builder 4 Standard

For some reason the Network Monitor is enabled for my Flash Builder project. Perhaps it was enabled when I was running the FB4 Beta 2 version. Now I need to disable the Network Monitor, but of course, since I'm using FB4 Standard the Network Monitor view says I need to purchase FB4 Premium.
All my app traffic is redirecting to localhost:37813 so I know the network monitor is still enabled. Can anyone tell me how to disable Network Monitor in FB4 Standard?
    Thanks,
    David

    Thierry,
I finally figured it out. In Flash Builder close your project. Then in the file system go and directly edit the .actionScriptProperties file. In the main <actionScriptProperties tag edit the includeNetmonSwc="true" flag to be includeNetmonSwc="false" instead. That will stop including the network monitor library in your code and should turn monitoring off.
That setting is controlled by the network monitor tab, but that tab is only visible with the premium version of Flash Builder so it seems once your trial version times out you can never disable it via the GUI, just via the .actionScriptProperties file.
Now reopen your project after saving the changes to .actionScriptProperties and you should be good to go.

  • SCOM 2012 SP1 Cisco Interface/Port Monitoring

    Hey.
We are trying to finish our parallel rollout of SCOM 2012 (previously used 2007 R2 with xSNMP) and have ran into a snag with a port that goes to a T3 connecting two of our offices.
The device is a Cisco 7206 router (listed as Certified in the
latest lists). SCOM sees the port and labels it IF-47 (stupidly) during discovery and rediscovery, but won't apply any type of performance monitoring on it. I could create the override to enable one but the only monitors it shows are three rollups (High
Discard, High Error, and High Queue Drop percentages). We need to be able to monitor utilization like any other port on the router. Ironically, SCOM has added these monitors for disabled (admin-down) ports.
We have the other endpoint router in SCOM and have added the interface/port to the "Critical Network Adapters Group" but that only seems to monitor availability (up or down). So besides creating my own SNMP monitors from the Cisco OIDs needed, anyone
know of a way to get this interface/port monitored for performance (i.e. utilization)?
One peculiarity, if I look at the monitors between this interface/port and another that has the perf monitors this one has "Network Adapter (Common)" whereas the one with the perf monitors shows "netcor cisco" of multiple fashions.
    thanks!

I'm looking for some help connecting linksys IP Cameras to my home network to monitor my property when I'm travelling.  I used to do this with linksys WAPS, but since I've discarded all my old linksys networking and standardized on airport, I can't get these things working.  I know that I have to identify my camera through the DHCP table and set up port forwarding and there is the problem.
My network consists of 4  base stations set up in a roaming network - same network name and passwords.  I need to do it this way so I don't have to switch network when I move from one side of the house to the other, go to the cabana, or my shop in the barn.  The network works pretty well since I went to a roaming set up.  Good performance, yata, yata, yata.
However, the roaming network requires the AEBS's to be set up in bridge mode, rather than sharing an ip address.  When the AEBS is set to  bridge mode, you don't see a DCHP table or have the ability to identify your IP Cam through the AEBS - and hence, no port forwarding.
I am able to identify and set up my Linksys IP Cam by locating the ip address on my FIOS router, even though, it's plugged into an AEBS.  I set it up, see the video, remove the ethernet cable from the IP Cam, restart - and I can't get to it from an AEBS.  In researching this, it appears, I should be setting up the AEBS to "share an IP Address", going to the DHCP table and identifying the camera's IP address and setting up port forwarding.  However, you don't see any of the DHCP or port forwarding options in Airport Network Utility when configuring in bridge mode.
I'm hoping I'm missing something here and that the solution isn't to set it up at the FIOS router level, but I'm beginning to think that's my only hope.  What concerns me there is that I should be able to see the IP cam on the network without port forwarding since I'm not coming from outside, and I can't even do this unless it's connected hard wire.
I'd appreciate any insight into this that anyone might have.  I've hit the wall with what I know.
    Thanks.

In a roaming network, your "main" router is the device that would require port mapping/forwarding to be configured in order to access the IP camera from the Internet. This router is also the one that would be provide the private IP address for the camera which you will want to be a static one.
So as you described your network, the IP cameras should be getting an IP address or you assigned it a static one and this is the address that you would enter in the Private IP address (or equivalent depending on the router used) field when setting up port mapping.
If you are not able to access this camera from the local network, then this should be troubleshot first.

  • Windows 8.1 Port Monitors

I would like to state up front that I have almost zero experience in the area of printer drivers, port monitors, etc., other than that which I have acquired so far during this project.
I am working on developing a PortMonitor that generates PS files in a predetermined location so that our Workflow system can collect them that I currently have set up to use the ghostpdf.inf file (came with GhostScript), which appears to use the PScript5
    DLLs.
I would prefer to not use the ghostpdf.inf, but my own as I also want to be add a custom UI dll to the Printer GUI in order to allow display/control of the options available for our workflow (these options will vary based on the selected workflow).
I need this to be able to install and work on most platforms from Windows 7 upwards for both 32 & 64 bit Windows.
Having created a port I would like to be able to point it at the standard Microsoft PS Class Driver. When I do this on Windows 8.1 I get an error saying "Double check the printer name and make sure that the printer is connected to the network."
As I want this to go to file on disk I don't have a printer to connect to the network.
    There are several, related, questions.
    1. Can I, and if so how, do I overcome the 'printer connected... ' issue or do I just adapt the ghostpdf.inf file for my own purposes?
    2. Can I, in the INF file, specify a custom UI dll so that I can manage the options?
    3. Do I need to provided a custom driver dll as well or can I just have a UI dll if I plan to store the settings in the registry and have the port monitor dll pick them up and run with them?
    Thanks,
    Peter Young

  • Disable an External Monitor?

I am looking for a way to disable a second monitor (plugged into the Display Port of a late 2010 iMac 27") without unplugging it. Does anyone know of a software solution?
When I am working I like that second monitor for desktop space, but other times (watching Netflix for example) the second monitor taxes the video card to much and degrades video playback performance. It would be great to have a software switch to ignore the second monitor. Right now, the only way I have found to do this is to unplug the display port cable.

Yes! Funny, I just found it and was coming back to the forum to post about it. It works well. It costs $19 USD, and seems well worth it.
You can easily make Display Sets – predetermined configurations for monitor activation, resolution, etc. I quickly whipped up this menu to control all my monitors.

    Hi guys,
I've got a problem installing the drivers for my litle HP deskjet 3050. I seem to be going around in circles.
I've had this problem before but solved it.....although I can't for the life of me remember how I did it. This time around I just can't seem to knock it on it's head.
The problem began after I reloaded an older system image backup after my HDD crashed (which I've replaced with a hybrid HDD). The printer wouldn't work from the moment I first tried after the reload.
I've followed every instruction on this forum I can find, from uninstalling, stopping/starting the spooler servie, cleaning out temporary files, switching off the firewall (including Norton Antivirus), reinstalling the software (which fails),etc.....nothing seems to get passed the point of the driver installation.
Have you guys got any ideas on what I must be overlooking?
    Cheers,
    Wayne.

  • Port monitoring question

    Hello,
I'm new to the forum and to Network programming in particular.
My question concerns port monitoring. I have a server transmitting UDP packets to a specific port. I need to have a thread that monitors that port and sees that there is traffic going out. Yet, it does not have any connection to the server (different processes), but it knows the IP and port number (actually the IP is the same).
How do I make it happen? Do I need to use a DatagramSocket and read inputs? Could someone advise with a simple code sample?
    Thanks

    Hi,
Why you dont simply create a DatagramSocket object. And using the receive message you can monitor datagrampackets, and if there is message or not available, simply use the getLength() method from this object.
You can do it in two ways.
One would be creating two threads, one to do the job, and the other one to monitor if there is or not message available. As you should know, the receives method, will block if there is no message available. As u dont want your program to freeze, put this job, in one thread.
The other one, would also be using a timertask, which will monitor the waiting process. If then for x time, it doenst receive, you finish your program.
There are really many many possibilities, u just need the DatagramSocket object, the DataGrampacket and a thread!
If i misunderstood something, you can give me new directions

  • Which network port do you use on Neo2 Plat ?

Do you guys use the nvidia network port or the realtek gigabit network port?...which is better

I also read that the NV port had less overhead somehow, and might be preferred if you only needed one connection.  Unfortunately, mine was plagued with short delays when browsing and frequent disconnects while gaming or downloading.  BIOS and driver updates did not help.  I also tried the manual override on speed/duplex and other settings with no improvement.  So, I use the Realtek with no problems whatsoever.  I disabled the Nvidia LAN in BIOS, along with all my other unwanted onboard systems.

  • New network/port forwarding questions

I just replaced my Airport Extreme with a 1TB TC and set up a primary network (AirNett) and a Guest network (Guest). I added Port Mapping entries for my computers (running Tiger), SlingBoxes and ReplayTVs (which are all ethernet-connected) and I have 1 laptop running Leopard and 1 running Tiger. We also have 2 iPhones.
The wired devices all seem to connect just fine. Occasionally, there is a delay in the connection (30 sec-1 min), but once it connects, they seem to stay connected.
The laptops take too long to connect to the AirNett network. If they do connect, it seems that the connection comes and goes. The iPhones have yet to connect to AirNett.
The Guest network serves all the wireless devices just fine, BUT, it does not allow connections to the Port Forwarding devices.
So, 2 issues... any ideas about :
    1) why my primary network (AirNett) is not working properly for my wireless devices and
    2) why my Guest network does not allow the Port Forwarding connections.
    TIA for any suggestions.
    Scott

That was my point - all my lan ports that use port 80 can point at port 80, and long as the WAN ports point at something else. The trouble is, I am restricted to only using 80,81 and 443 on the LAN side, which limits me to 3 (not counting 8080 for my routers web gui)
So that means with my two web cams and web gui on my NAS drive, I am unable to log into any other web interfaces on my LAN, unless I log into my router first, disable one port forward and enable another (using the same WAN port of 80 or 81) - which is doable but a PITA..
This is what is looks like on the router:
For example, if I change the port from field for the "tranmission" entry to anything but 80 or 81, it will not work, so if I want to get into my torrent gui on my NAS drive I have to disable "cam1" and enable "transmission"
I checked with my ISP and they are not blocking any ports, so I'm not sure how to get around this, unless I can serve up a page that shows feeds from more than one camera and serve it from one source, ie my router or NAS drive.
