Disable Save As Prompt in Adobe Reader XI

Hi, we upgraded our Adobe Reader 9 Installations to Adobe Reader XI. Now in multiple pdf-documents we are getting a save as dialog by exiting the PDF. We never made changes to this documents.
The PDF-Documents having this problems are generated with a Visual Basic Application. The PDFs are published with PDF Standard 1.1
If we overwrite the Version 1.1 PDF it will be converted to Version 1.6. After that the Warning-Message disappears.
Is it possible to disable this message without editing our Visual Basic Application? Thank you for your help.

Your application is probably making PDF files which are slightly incorrect. When this is detected, Adobe Reader attempts to repair the file. If this is successful, there will be a prompt to save on exit. Adobe Reader could not save files in earlier releases, so the effect of incorrect files was not discovered.

  • Disable "Save a copy" in Adobe Reader

Can anyone suggest me of disabling the "Save a copy" menu item...
    Its very urgent...

Thanks a lot Aandi for your quick reply.
I have a scenario where a Adobe Reader PDF file consists of a blank page with a signature...
Now few users in a group must have the privilege of "Save a copy" option and few others in the same group must not have the privilege to do so.
Is there any approach to achieve this , if not with disabling "Save a copy" button.....
    Expecting reply from anyone.

  • How to save filled PDF in adobe reader 9.0

Can you please tell me how to save filled PDF in adobe reader 9.0 with all the filled details

You cannot buy 8 or 9.
In X (10 - which you can't buy either), you can do File > Save as > Reader Extended PDF > Enable additional features.
    Important notes:
    1. KEEP THE ORIGINAL. Once rights are added many kinds of editing are permanently locked out.
    2. THERE ARE STRICT LIMITS on the number of people who can save a form. Details in the EULA: check it carefully (or have a lawyer check it).
Also note that Reader XI can save forms with no special preparation.

  • Which API can use to save PDF document with Adobe Reader 9?

    Hello,
which API can use to save PDF document with Adobe Reader 9? It is said that "CosDocSaveWithParams" can't be used.
    thanks!

Unless the PDF file is "READER ENABLED for SAVE" (see the adobe product pages on LiveCycle Reader extensions server)
You are not able to call a Save at all, if the document is reader enabled then you need to use the JavaScript call to save the document,
As you appear to be wanting to do this in a plug-in you would need to call the script from a plug-in, this can be done using the AFExecuteThisScript () function call.
Please note that this does will fail if the document is not reader enabled for save and you need to include the Forms HFT in your plug-in,
This plug-in would also have to be approved by Adobe to be used with the reader and as you are implementing a function that is available in the full Acrobat product this may not be a straight forward approval.

  • Save Existing PDF in Adobe Reader XI

I've just installed Adobe Reader XI on a bunch of workstations and I'm confused on how to save an existing PDF. For example, if I open a PDF from My Documents, stamp or make a comment, and then try to save, it brings up the Save As box. The same thing happens if I pull up a PDF from our SharePoint site, stamp or comment, and try to save. How do I just save the changes I've made to the existing PDF? It can't be that difficult but I feel like I'm missing something. Thanks!

I don't know why this happens; sometimes it helps to disable Protected Mode [Edit | Preferences | Security (Enhanced)].
Or check if the new Adobe Acrobat Reader DC works better.

  • Save as Functionality in Adobe Reader

    Hello All,
I have developed a form in LiveCycle ES -2 . There is a functionality in the form : After filling all the required fields if the user tries to submit before saving the form then it will prompt the user to save the form in a different file name. This works fine in Acrobat 9 Pro. But when I open the form in Adobe Reader and try to do the same operation the form gets saved, But it's blank form. How to get over it with ?
    Thanks.
    Bibhu.

Please be aware of licensing restrictions when enabling form from Acrobat,  my understanding is that
you can only send a reader enabled form to 500 unique users to respond to that form as many times as they wish
or post out to an infinite number of users and you are only allowed to receive 500 responses.  See the Acrobat Pro EULA.
    thanks

  • Save As.. Crashing Adobe Reader (Windows 8.1)

When trying to save file as this window will lock up until adobe reader crashes
    Things I have tried...
Save As optimizes for Fast Web View (off)
    Protected Mode (off)
Do not save encrypted pages to disk (internet explorer) (on)
    Preferred Render: software
Enable hardware rendering for legacy cards (disabled)
    Disabling Anti-Virus
    Running as Administrator
Using Adobe Cleaner to uninstall completely
    Windows 8.1 Pro (64x)
    Adobe XI

    I have the same issue.
If I open a PDF and select "Save As", 90% of the time the Save As dialogue box becomes unresponsive (i.e. "Not Responding"). Oddly, 10% of the time, it works. It is not file dependent. The same file will work OK on (about) one out of ten attemps.

  • How do I save a pdf in Adobe Reader XI (11.0.06)?

Does anyone know how to save a pdf now from Adobe Reader?  If I try to save now it gives me the option of either save to online account or to Acrobat.com but neither of those work when I want to attach the pdf to an e-mail.  The only place I can see the pdf is on the Mac that I'm working from.  It cannot be accessed by anybody I send it to despite them all having Adobe Reader.  I'm sure this wasn't the way it was before and this is driving me insane now.  So many hours spent on what should be a really simple task
    Thanks

I've never found technology to make life easier. It mainly offers the promise (often unfulfilled) of making it cheaper or quicker. This didn't happen when the Girl Guides put a form in an envelope and posted it. But they probably laid off the person whose job that was with the promise of everything being easy on the internet.
PDF has, curiously, become a victim of its own success. A few years ago, you could say to people "You need Adobe Reader" and it was the only serious game in town. So they got it and it works. Now everyone is making their own PDF reader for whatever reason, fewer and fewer people can be sure of having Reader. (PDF readers come at least with every Mac, every Windows 8 system, Chrome and FireFox, which covers a LOT of ground).
This is coupled with a bizarre decision Adobe made a few years ago to have two kinds of form, one of which all the other software fails with (and, as I noted, even Adobe's own software on iPad and Android fails). This was a neat idea which was designed for big corporations. Then the really big mistake: giving everyone with Acrobat the tools to make these new kinds of form, and making it seem they were preferre or the only game in town. This is finished now (Acrobat 11 doesn't include this big boy's software) but the damage is done, oh how it is done.
Even regular forms tend to only work properly in real Adobe Reader. The fact is, if you make or distribute PDF forms you need to tell people to use Adobe Reader, and to know exactly how to help them do that. If people can't do that or their users won't be motivated to bother, then PDF forms are no longer a suitable choice. Sad but true.

  • Issue with being able to fill in data and save pdf forms in adobe reader

    Hi All,
This is my first time posting on this forum so not sure what way to go about it so i'll just start by explaining my problem.
I purchased adobe acrobat xi standard to create pdf forms(fillable forms) so that the receipents of these forms can open them in adobe reader, save them on their local drive and fill them in.
However, when I uploaded them online(as they will be downloaded from an internal website) - when the forms are opened in the browser this error appears
Currently when this error appears the client canno fill in their data or save it.
Any help on this issue would be appreciated!
    Noel

Thanks for replying pat - that was another question I have. Is there a way I can get a dialog box to pop up when they click on the forms button?
    Like the following;
As at the moment, they would have to click the actual "save" icon - and the same error will appear on their local disk?

  • Save editable pdf in Adobe Reader?

I have made an editable pdf. I want my colleagues to fill in this pdf. But they have Adobe Reader… Is there any way (in Adobe Reader) that they can make changes, save it and then email it to customers?

If you are talking about a form they would need to fill out, Adobe Reader XI can do that or if you have Acrobat, you can add form fields that all versions of Reader can fill out.
If you are talking about any other type of edits, Reader cannot do that.

  • Cannot save many pdfs with Adobe Reader X

    Hi,
I download lots of articles as pdfs for teaching, and ever since I updated Adobe Reader to version 10.0.1, I am having trouble saving copies of pdfs for many journals. I have to email myself a copy instead. Is this a problem with the journals not being updated somehow, or is it the Adobe Reader version?
    Thanks,
    Meghan

Here is a URL that will not save in Reader X:
    http://samplepdf.com/sample.pdf?meaningless=1234567890123456789012345678901234567890123456 789012345678901234567890123456789012345678901234567890123456789012345678901234567890123456 789012345678901234567890123456789012345678901234567890123456789012345678901234567890123456 7890/&blah=blah.pdf
However, if the last slash is removed or encoded as %2f (which should not be necessary, as it appears in the query portion of the URL), there is no problem.
