Disabling Alarms under program control

Is there a way to enable / disable certain alarms being generated under program control? In the process I'm programming, under certain conditions, when there are maintenance operations occuring in the plant, certan alarms are guaranteed to occur, but have absolutely no meaning. As the operations staff gets 'concerned' when they get alarms, is there any way to disable these alarms from being generated during periods when I know they are of no value?

In this case you should use an Alarm Object (if you are not already). An Alarm Object is able to read particular conditions, before an alarm is generated. Perhaps you make a switch on the panel. The Alarm Object could read this switch and only generate an alarm if the switch is in the a particular position. Basically, giving you the ability to turn on and off the Alarm Generated by the Alarm Object. I have attached a small example of working with the alarm object. By editing the connections you can make the boolean switch make the numeric pot invisible, disabling its ability to be changed and thus disabling any alarms from being generated by it going out of range. This same sort of concept could be applied to your application.
You can also just change the alarm conditions programmatically so the alarm will not trigger.

Is there a method in labview to dynamically save and change the monitor resolution under program control? I have another application that runs on another monitor. I would like to change the monitor resoultion to 640x480 on program startup, and then restore the monitor resolution back to the user's settings on exit. Can this be done?

Have you already done this manually? I've seen Labview scale front panels very strangely when changing resolutions...

Deactivate caps lock key under program control

Is it possible to deactivate the caps lock key under program control?
[For those who are curious, if I log into my home computer using VNC if someone at the computer presses the caps lock key that affects me!]

My problem with the Bluetooth Mighty mouse is that sometimes when click on an object, nothing happens. I can only move the cursor on the screen but clicking doesn't work. So I have to turn off the mouse for 20 sec and after I switched it back and it works. What I also notest is when I move an object on the screen with the mouse it goed not as smooth as with my wired one.

How to print PDF under Java control

Hi, all - thank you for reading this message.
I'm working with Java 1.4.2_12 and Tomcat but planning to migrate upward Real Soon Now. We are running on Windows Server 2003 (customer's choice).
My application, using iText, creates a PDF, which comprises a new coversheet plus some existing PDFs appended. The new PDF is needed for archival. This part works OK.
Now, still in my Java app, I would like to print the new PDF, to a printer chosen in my code. At present I have only PCL and basic PS (2?) capable laser printers, mostly HPs, available and these are all networked - not local - printers.
I have tried some things using PrintService and this cannot find any PDF printers from the server, though for comparison it did correctly find some PostScript capable devices. Attempts to actually print have resulted in garbage, with the printer obviously mangling the PDF over several trees-worth of paper, if not stopped.
Has anyone else managed to 'filter' a PDF (under program control) and send it to a regular, networked printer, such as I have described?
Can anyone confirm that a PS 3 capable printer would handle a PDF direct and if so what DocFlavor would be appropriate?
Sorry if this is a trivial issue but I have spent quite some time on it and would appreciate any input.

Go to START/ALL PROGRAMS/Apple Software Update. If it offers you a newer version of Apple Software Update, do it but Deselect any other software offered at the same time. Once done, try another iTunes install
If you don't find ASU, go to Control Panel:

Placing ~ under version control : ignore mask

Hi.
I am thinking of placing my home directory under version control.
I understand there are threads in Arch and URLs on placing home under version control.
But i find placing everything in ~ will be a waste of space since files such as
web browser cache or icons changes constantly.
I would like to know what does my fellow Archers ~ .ignore files contains?
Any DVCS .ignore files are welcome.

When I used gnome this list was MUCH longer. I am still in the process of getting rid of apps that misbehave badly (biggest offenders are gnome, gnome-do, tomboy, pidgin and for firefox and thunderbird I would even make a separate category: those directories are just filled with many (binary) files, impossible to manage. I use separate rsync "repositories" for those)

You can build up a similar list like this:
svn create a-place-for-your-home-in-svn
svn checkout a-place-for-your-home-in-svn ~
then do svn status ~, and you'll see lots of stuff. then go over everything and decide if you want it in svn or not. by adding it (non-recursively) or updating your ignore rules. that's how I am still building up my list.. all because of those damn programs who don't implement xdg cleanly

Connect CE to ESR under PI control

Hi,
I need to connect my CE to ESR which is running under PI. Both systems have already their own ESR-s.
I've found a simple guide about connecting PI to ESR under CE control, it's not actualy my scenario but I've made little changes. This is what I've done already, please tell me if I made someting wrong. Thanks..

And those are my changes..
1. I haven't made any CE's ESR export, becouse ESR was totally out-of-box, never used.
2. I haven't changed Exchange Profile, becouse I want PI still connect to ESR localy.
3. I've stopped and disabled com.sap.xi.repository on CE's side.
4. I've removed old repository entry within CE domain. Both instances have their own SLD locally which are bridged.
5. Changed following parameters in CE template:

I cannot state for sure , but i dont think its possible to accomplish it as the ESR of PI 7.1 is shipped as a package as opposed to ESR in CE 7.1 which is an add on.

First, I suggest you download
Microsoft Safety Scanner or
Malicious Software Removal Tool to run a full scan.
The error messages here seems to be caused by the corrupted registries, which related with the folder association.
You may take a try to merge the following registry settings to reset the folder association, before that, remember to backup your registry settings first:

How do you grey out/disable fields under a radio button if another radio button is selected in Adobe Acrobat XI Pro?
I’m creating a form where the user has three options to make a payment.
1. charge to my credit card
2. charge associated costs to bank account
3. By cheque or money order
My Problem is, under each option, there are required fields that has to be filled out. So if the user picks the first option, charge to my credit card, they would fill out the required fields (credit card number, expiration date etc.). But when they click submit button to submit the form, it won’t let them, because there are required fields under the second option. Also, I have the radio buttons for the three options setup so that if the user holds the shift key and clicks a radio button, it unchecks it. So what I'm trying to do is this: If the user selects the radio button for option 1, the other two options are greyed out/disabled. And if the user holds down the shift key and clicks radio button for option one again, it unchecks the radio button and the other two options are available again. Is there a way to grey out or disable the two other payment options when the other one is picked. I’m assuming I will have to use javascript, but what would the coding be and which field do I write it under?

You will have to use custom JavaScript to access the various properties of the field object.
The radio button group has a value. When no button is selected that value is "Off". When an individual button has been selected the value for the group will be the option or export value for that individual button.
Once you have determined the button selected, then you will know the form fields that need to be made required. You use JavaScript to access those fields and change the "read only" property to false, and set the "required" property to true. For the fields associated with the other options, those fields should be reset, made read only, and have the "required" property set to false.

Radio button in a PDF do not work that way. Only check boxes can be unchecked by clicking on one that has been checked.
If you plan the coding for the Mouse UP action to test for all possible options and code for each of those options you should have what you want.
If you want actual code you need to provide a lot more details.
It is even possible to perform some credit card and bank routing number validations with JavaScript and some check digit formulas.

Can't share photos. Default Programs Control Panel

I have Elements 8. I want to send photos to a friend. I added her to my mailing list and I just have to click a box to send to her. I set up a web based email for my default email. But when I click on 'Share' and go through the mailing process I get this message "There is no email program associated to perform the requested action. Please install an email program or if one is already installed create an association in the Default Programs control panel".
I can't find the Default Programs control panel and at this point am not sure what they mean by 'create an association'. I tried changing the email and got the same results.
