Discovere Plus does not start

I have installed 9i R2 (9.0.2.0.0) and installed the infrastructure in the oracle home (.../home/oracle/product/8.1.7) and then installed 9iAS in the oraclehome (...../home/oracle/product/9ias) which is also set as IAS_HOME.
Now I am trying to start Discoverer (http://machinename:7778/discoverer/plus) it gives me error
'Page not found' and when I go to the EM and click on General Discoverer (under 9ias_Discoverer) it gives me this error

  • OracleOraDb10g_home1iSQL*Plus does not start in Vista x64

    Hi,
I just done installing Oracle 10g in my Vista ultimate business laptop (64 bit OS). When I look at services I see that "+OracleOraDb10g_home1iSQL*Plus"+ service showing in "+starting+" status.
I belive thats why I can not connect my databases using PL/SQL developer. Other Oracle services are in started status.
Does anyone has ran into this issue?
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks

there is no error message in my alter fiel. I only see couple of numbers. I can access database fine from Oracle SQL*Plus. I would like to use PL/SQL Developer and it could not detect Oracle database on personal computer. My tnanames.ora file is in default directory that is in "C:\oracle\product\10.2.0\db_1\NETWORK\ADMIN". I even tried specifying TNS_ADMIN environment variable but PL/SQL developer still can't detect tnsnames.ora file.

  • Discoverer report - Output from Discoverer plus is not the same as Discoverer desktop

As a part of Upgrade project we are migrating the discoverer reports from 11i (11.5.10.2) to R12 (12.1.3) .After migrating to R12, for a custom discoverer report the output given by discoverer desktop is correct (24 rows for a scenario). But the report output from Discoverer plus does not show the credit transactions (2 rows). The output from Discoverer plus shows only 22 rows (24 - 2), which is incorrect. The query is the same in Discoverer desktop and Discoverer plus.
Please let me know why these transactions that are appearing when the report is run from discoverer desktop are not appearing in discoverer plus. Is there any setup in discoverer plus for this?
    Regards,
    Brajesh

Pretty hard to answer a question like this.  Best bet would be to copy the existing discoverer plus book and start removing conditions, fields, etc until those two rows from desktop show up and see if you can work it out.

  • Newly added discoverer responsibility does not open the workbook sheets

Adding reports to newly added discoverer responsibility does not open the workbook sheets
Actually its a new responsibility where i add existing workbook, also shared the business area but when trying to execute the report through my user firstly it says "Workbbok cannot be expanded, Unable to open workbook" later when i close the page i get the below error
“Contact with the Discover server has been lost. To continue with your work, please restart Discoverer Plus. If this problem persists, please contact your Oracle Application Server Administrator” error message.
    Please suggest.

    Hi,
You need to run a trace for this user to diagnose this issue. Look at note 133055.1 for more details.

  • Connect to Oracle Discoverer window does not appear

    Hi,
The Web based Oracle Discoverer 4i does not work properly on my system. I first connect my Microsoft IE to the URL. One the URL there is magnifier icon. Under this icon there is a lable of "Click the image above to start".
I click this icon and another window pup up. The top left corner of this window shows "Oracle Discoverer" title. Under this title bar are the menu items. The menu items are File,Edit,Sheet, tools, Graph & Help from left to right. The bottom left corner shows "Loading...". But the "Connect to Oracle Discoverer" window never pups up.
If I connect my browser to another URL I can get "Connect to Oracle Discoverer " window displayed and log into database.
What is wrong with my first server?
    Thanks for help.
    Wallace

I'm only guessing, but I've had similar problems in a few cases with the Microsoft Java Virtual Machine. Try getting Discoverer to run with a different JVM, like Oracle Jinitiator.

    Reset the SMC: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964
    Reset the PRAM: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=Mac/10.6/en/26871.html
Restart the computer while holding down your mouse button which if you hold it down long enough (5 minutes at most) should eject the disk
    If the disk still doesn't come out at that point then you need hardware evaluation;
contact Apple, contact an Apple Authorized Service Provider, or make an appointment with an Apple Retail Store.

  • Oracle Windows Sevice does not start (ORA-12640: Authentication adapter initialization failed)

I converted a physical windows 2003 machine to a virtual hyperv machine.
The following error occurs in oradim.log when I try to start the Oracle Windows Service on the virtual server:
    ORA-12640: Authentication adapter initialization failed
I recreated the service and the password file but with no luck.
I also tried to change sqlnet.ora with the following: (Replaced NTS to NONE)
    SQLNET.AUTHENTICATION_SERVICES= (NONE)
In this case the service was started but when I tried to connect as sysdba using sqlplus "/ as sysdba" the "ORA-01031: insufficient privileges" error occurs. If you connect using the password then it connects fine. But I would like to be able to connect without a password because I have some scripts that I do not want to hardcode the sysdba password.
I also removed and readded the administrator password from ORA_DBA group but again with no luck.

    Have you seen this:
Oracle Database Service on Windows 2000 in AutoStart Mode with Logon as SYSTEM
(Bug 1397927) If you have installed an Oracle database service on Windows 2000, when logging in as SYSTEM user (Local System), with startup mode set to Automatic, it is possible that the Oracle database service starts but the database does not start automatically. The following error message is written to the ORADIM.LOG file in the ORACLE_BASE\ORACLE_HOME\DATABASE directory.
    ORA-12640: Authentication adapter initialization failed
It has also been observed that the services like Oracle Enterprise Management Agent, Oracle Enterprise Manager Management Server and Oracle Internet Directory may also fail for the same reason because they cannot connect to the database.
The workarounds for this problem are:
Remove the line sqlnet.authentication_services=(NTS) from SQLNET.ORA or set sqlnet.authentication_services=(NONE) in SQLNET.ORA.
Start the database manually after the Oracle database service has started using SQL*Plus connecting as user name INTERNAL. Note that the INTERNAL user name will not be available after release 8.1.7.
Start the service as a specific user:
Choose Start > Settings > Control Panel > Services. The Services dialog box appears.
Select the service you want to start.
Click the Startup button. The Service dialog box appears.
Click This account and specify the user name and corresponding password.

no bat file is needed for opmn to startall on service restart or system reboot. Opmn remembers the state of the services on a clean shutdown of the service & will bring it back. So just do a opmn startall, then restart the Oracle<OraHome>ProcessManager service & check using opmn status. All services should be in the same state as before the Oracle<OraHome>ProcessManager was restarted.
where/why are you trying to use a bat file to stopall/startall? It can be done via a script, but the user that starts the bat file MUST be the same user that installed OAS/OID.

  • My iMac does not start.

My iMac does not start. When I turn it on, it stays loading in the half and doesn't continue. Some days before I had updated my iMac to Yosemite 10.10. Everything was ok but yesterday I decided tu reboot it and when it was turning on this happened, it kept stuck at the middle of the bar. I have the latest model of MacBook Air '13.

Take each of these steps that you haven't already tried. Stop when the problem is resolved.
To restart an unresponsive computer, press and hold the power button for a few seconds until the power shuts off, then release, wait a few more seconds, and press it again briefly.
    Step 1
The first step in dealing with a startup failure is to secure the data. If you want to preserve the contents of the startup drive, and you don't already have at least one current backup, you must try to back up now, before you do anything else. It may or may not be possible. If you don't care about the data that has changed since the last backup, you can skip this step.
There are several ways to back up a Mac that is unable to start. You need an external hard drive to hold the backup data.
    a. Start up from the Recovery partition, or from a local Time Machine backup volume (option key at startup.) When the OS X Utilities screen appears, launch Disk Utility and follow the instructions in this support article, under “Instructions for backing up to an external hard disk via Disk Utility.” The article refers to starting up from a DVD, but the procedure in Recovery mode is the same. You don't need a DVD if you're running OS X 10.7 or later.
    b. If Step 1a fails because of disk errors, and no other Mac is available, then you may be able to salvage some of your files by copying them in the Finder. If you already have an external drive with OS X installed, start up from it. Otherwise, if you have Internet access, follow the instructions on this page to prepare the external drive and install OS X on it. You'll use the Recovery installer, rather than downloading it from the App Store.
    c. If you have access to a working Mac, and both it and the non-working Mac have FireWire or Thunderbolt ports, start the non-working Mac in target disk mode. Use the working Mac to copy the data to another drive. This technique won't work with USB, Ethernet, Wi-Fi, or Bluetooth.
    d. If the internal drive of the non-working Mac is user-replaceable, remove it and mount it in an external enclosure or drive dock. Use another Mac to copy the data.
    Step 2
If the startup process stops at a blank gray screen with no Apple logo or spinning "daisy wheel," then the startup volume may be full. If you had previously seen warnings of low disk space, this is almost certainly the case. You might be able to start up in safe mode even though you can't start up normally. Otherwise, start up from an external drive, or else use the technique in Step 1b, 1c, or 1d to mount the internal drive and delete some files. According to Apple documentation, you need at least 9 GB of available space on the startup volume (as shown in the Finder Info window) for normal operation.
    Step 3
Sometimes a startup failure can be resolved by resetting the NVRAM.
    Step 4
If a desktop Mac hangs at a plain gray screen with a movable cursor, the keyboard may not be recognized. Press and hold the button on the side of an Apple wireless keyboard to make it discoverable. If need be, replace or recharge the batteries. If you're using a USB keyboard connected to a hub, connect it to a built-in port.
    Step 5
If there's a built-in optical drive, a disc may be stuck in it. Follow these instructions to eject it.
    Step 6
Press and hold the power button until the power shuts off. Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed to start up, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Use a different keyboard and/or mouse, if those devices are wired. If you can start up now, one of the devices you disconnected, or a combination of them, is causing the problem. Finding out which one is a process of elimination.
    Step 7
If you've started from an external storage device, make sure that the internal startup volume is selected in the Startup Disk pane of System Preferences.
Start up in safe mode. Note: If FileVault is enabled in OS X 10.9 or earlier, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Post for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to start and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including wireless networking on certain Macs.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know the login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
When you start up in safe mode, it's normal to see a dark gray progress bar on a light gray background. If the progress bar gets stuck for more than a few minutes, or if the system shuts down automatically while the progress bar is displayed, the startup volume is corrupt and the drive is probably malfunctioning. In that case, go to Step 11. If you ever have another problem with the drive, replace it immediately.
If you can start and log in in safe mode, empty the Trash, and then open the Finder Info window on the startup volume ("Macintosh HD," unless you gave it a different name.) Check that you have at least 9 GB of available space, as shown in the window. If you don't, copy as many files as necessary to another volume (not another folder on the same volume) and delete the originals. Deletion isn't complete until you empty the Trash again. Do this until the available space is more than 9 GB. Then restart as usual (i.e., not in safe mode.)
If the startup process hangs again, the problem is likely caused by a third-party system modification that you installed. Post for further instructions.
    Step 8
Launch Disk Utility in Recovery mode (see Step 1.) Select the startup volume, then run Repair Disk. If any problems are found, repeat until clear. If Disk Utility reports that the volume can't be repaired, the drive has malfunctioned and should be replaced. You might choose to tolerate one such malfunction in the life of the drive. In that case, erase the volume and restore from a backup. If the same thing ever happens again, replace the drive immediately.
This is one of the rare situations in which you should also run Repair Permissions, ignoring the false warnings it may produce. Look for the line "Permissions repair complete" at the end of the output. Then restart as usual.
    Step 9
If the startup device is an aftermarket SSD, it may need a firmware update and/or a forced "garbage collection." Instructions for doing this with a Crucial-branded SSD were posted here. Some of those instructions may apply to other brands of SSD, but you should check with the vendor's tech support.
    Step 10
Reinstall the OS. If the Mac was upgraded from an older version of OS X, you’ll need the Apple ID and password you used to upgrade.
    Step 11
Do as in Step 9, but this time erase the startup volume in Disk Utility before installing. The system should automatically restart into the Setup Assistant. Follow the prompts to transfer the data from a Time Machine or other backup.
    Step 12
This step applies only to models that have a logic-board ("PRAM") battery: all Mac Pro's and some others (not current models.) Both desktop and portable Macs used to have such a battery. The logic-board battery, if there is one, is separate from the main battery of a portable. A dead logic-board battery can cause a startup failure. Typically the failure will be preceded by loss of the settings for the startup disk and system clock. See the user manual for replacement instructions. You may have to take the machine to a service provider to have the battery replaced.
    Step 13
If you get this far, you're probably dealing with a hardware fault. Make a "Genius" appointment at an Apple Store, or go to another authorized service provider.

Ok. This connection did not use the listener, and so you got a 'connection' but to an 'idle instance'. In other words, the database isn't started. What happens when you go back to this point and isssue 'startup' ?
    But :
    sqlplus sys/****@mydb as sysdba
    SQL*Plus: Release 10.2.0.1.0 - Production on Tue Nov 11 10:32:38 2008

    ERROR:
ORA-12518: TNS:listener could not hand off client connection
This connection uses the listener, but the listener could not hand off the connection due to the fact that the database itself is not started, as evidenced by your previous connection.
As I stated in an earlier reply. Forget about the listener for now. Your database is not started, so the listener is irrelevant.
It can not be a problem of number of process (>150) because the database is not started. That's right. The database is not started. You must solve that first.
    Any idea ? Thanks.

  • Notebook does not start up

    Hello,
I've got a notebook Lenovo 3000 N200, type 0769-BEG. Operationsystem is Windows Vista with latest patchlevel.  BIOS-Version is 3.03.
I got the following problem: The notebook does not start up after I press the power-button. The screen remains black, and the speaker gives 3-4-3.
Is there somebody who can help me?
    Kind regards,

    salnet, welcome to the forum,
I don't see  the 3-4-3 beep combination in the Hardware Maintainance Manual but I would start by looking at your memory. Try resating it, if you have two sticks try starting with only one and then swap them.
You could also create a bootable iso cd of PC-Doctor and see if it can find something. (If you can boot from cd that is)

  • WebAnalysis does not start after workspace is set on Windows Authentication

I've used [doc Hyperion System 9.3.x Configuring the BI+ Workspace for Single Sign-On (SSO) with Internet Information Services (IIS) [ID 1100096.1] to configure SSO for workspace users. It works fine. Though since then the WA service does not start anymore. The error message which is raised sounds very very familar but still I am not able to tackle it. The message in the log or the analysis console is "[WARN] [STANDBY] ExecuteThread: '1' for queue: 'weblogic.kernel.Default (self-tuning)' com.hyperion.analyzer.utils.general.HYAUtil - Wait for workspace [
    [WARN] Timer-2 com.hyperion.analyzer.utils.general.HYAUtil - ."
I am very sure it had something to do with rights/ permissions, but also after playing around with IIS and ntfs permissions for hours I can't get SSO en WA both working at the same time.
As soon as I set my workspace aplication in IIS on windows integrated, the SSO is working but as soon as a I restart the WA service it fails to start. When I set the workspace application IIS on anonymous the WA service start fine but then the SSO is not working anymore.
    It drives me crazy.
Hopefully its a small matter for you to solve!

If you will be not able to start the notebook in the safe mode or to boot the notebook then user the Toshiba recovery CD to gets the notebook working!

You need to contact the developer/manufacturer directly to determine if their product is compatible w/Yosemite.  It is not listed on their system requirement website:
    Mac OS X 10.9 Mavericks
Mac OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion
    Mac OS X 10.7 Lion
Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard*
Note: ArchiCAD 17 is the last version of ArchiCAD to support Mac OS X 10.6
Only case insensitive file-system volumes are supported.

  • -Xmx greater than 180M does not start jvm on a 2gb machine, why?

Hi, we have developed a product demo shown as an applet that uses the java plug-in to startup.
The demo requires high amount of memory so we modified the java plug-in -xms and -xmx values in the control panel so more memory is available to the applet. What we can not see is why using values higher than -Xmx187M the applet does not start launching an error message either in Explorer of Firefox telling it has been unable to load the jvm. Using the value of -Xmx180M the applet starts but the out of memory message is displayed very soon as the demo requires at least 700M.
    We are using:
     JRE1.6_u02
     IE7. FireFox 2.0.0.7
     Computer: 2GB Ram, CoreDuo2.
Does any of you why this limitation in the maximum java heap size?
Thanks for your time and help.
    Best Regards.

I don't understand the logic for when it will error out on the -Xmx setting. One obvious idea leaps to my mind - because windows doesn't do it.
And googling would seem to support that. Search for "currently implemented up to" in the following.
