DiscussionMessages hierarchical view

I've written test code that can create discussions, create messages and responses, and query for messages. However, I see no way in the API to determine which messages are responses to other messages. I would like to create a hierarchical view of the messages posted in a discussion, and I see no way to get that type of information. Does anybody know of a way to do this?

Yes using the Weblayout Editor you can create pages and queries in the Library pages section as Tim mentions.
you would create a top level query to give you the root folders (by way of metadata)
You would make a new page to display the next level folders (and any content in that level maybe)
Repeat for more levels

Hierarchical Viewer not showing Folder Label for Accessors

Hi,
I am using JDev 11.1.1.5.
I am using Hierarchical Viewer component to show master detail relationships. My tree structure is as follows:
Locations (Level 1)
----->Departments (Level 2)
----------->Employees (Level 3)
----------->Rooms (Level 3)
Employees and Rooms are the accessors of Departments (they are same level). For these accessors, I already set the Folder Labels in Tree Binding. So, in the Hierarchical Viewer, under Departments Node, there are 2 nodes to group for Employees and Rooms. But these 2 nodes are empty. They should show the Folder Labels that I defined in the tree binding.
I tested with the ADF Tree component. It is showing folder labels correctly.
How do I customize (to show the labels) these nodes? Could you please help me with this issue? Thanks.

Hi All,
I achieved with the following code changes in jsff page. I put this code inside the Departments Node.

The folder labels in the tree binding are "EMPLOYEES" (for Employees Accessor) and "ROOMS" (for Rooms Accessor). After that, these 2 nodes are showing EMPLOYEES and ROOMS respectively.
Please suggest me if it can be done with the other ways.

Hierarchical View from STS

As an planning coordinator, when he launch the STS, he will sees the Hierarchical View from the overview page first, if he need to see the status of each node, he have to open each sub-node one after another, currently it take about 40 seconds to open one node,there are 10 levels in our Hierarchy, it will take 400 second to get to the lowest level, this is not acceptable, anybody know a better way to improve the performance?

What do you mean by "Do you use the new STS functionality of BW 3.5/SEM4.0"?, we are now using BW 3.5.
since our hierarchy is kind of large, it take 40 second to open one level of node, while in STS you can only open one level of node after another, that's why it take long time to get the the lowest level.

Right Click Implementation on Hierarchical Viewer

I'm developing a web app using jdeveloper 11.1.1.4
I have implemeted a Hierarchical Viewer controller and works fine. I need ti implement adding node by right click on a node and selecting a menu.
Pls tell me how to do this. Can we implement right click even on Nodes in Hierarchical Viewer

BAPI Hierarchical View

Dear Abapers:
A custom object type Z**** which is created and released from SWO1 and it works absolutely fine. However, the issues is it gets listed in the Alpabethical order only but not in the Hierarchical view. I have searched the entire list but unable to find it.
How do i solve this problem.
How can I add my object type to the hierarchical list?

Hierarchical view access in worklist

exists BPM application with roles to grant access to users
The organisation has Hierarchical structure and user must have access in worklist only to task in his view area
Is it possible to separate view not only by roles, for example by Hierarchical structure ??

Hierarchical entities view in Manage Workflow

Hi! In my 9.3.1. planning application users with Administrator role can choose between hierarchical and flat views of entities in the Manage Workflow screen but users with Interactive User role only see entities in the flat view with no option for hierarchical view of entities. Is it a standard limitation of Hyperion Planning or is it fixable? I would be very grateful for any ideas!

I noticed that there does not seem to be a way to edit data in a hierarchy viewer (Jdev 11.1.1.10). I even tried changing default <outputText> fields to <inputText> fields. I was wondering if someone had any suggestions.

PanelLabelAndMessage not aligned in hierachical viewer until node is clicke

I am using the DVT Hierarchical Viewer. Using the code below (which is similar to the the demo code). The Labels column is coming out zig-zagging (not aligned to the right) but the OutputText column comes out aligned correctly to the left. Once I select (put focus on the node), the label column aligned correctly.
Can someone please tell me what I need to so that the nodes will render with the label column aligned.

Thanks for the suggestion David. I tried that this morning but the issue still remained. Are there any known issues with the latest 3.3 patch and the viewer?
As an added note, the issue is not browser specific. It happens in both IE and Firefox.

Problem with hierarchical queries

I implemented (thx to jarola) sucessfully a report using a hierarchical view.

- parent_id, item_id,description

-where machine_no = 101

- start with parent_id is null
This works good, as long as there is just one project/machine in the table.
If I have 2 machines in the table, it does not work in the report anymore, all entries are shown, although I check for the right machine_number and project_number in the query :-(
Any suggestions?

Navigating Finder Icon view problem!

Okay, I have searched without success for an answer for this problem. When navigating through the directory structure in the icon view finder doesn't remember where you came from. Here is an example, say you have a folder that has a few hundred items in it (ex. itunes library folder). In icon view scroll about half way down and then double click on another folder. Okay all find and dandy but when you click on the back button you are back at the beginning of the previous directory and not half way down with the folder you were just in highlighted! Now go back to that same folder you were just in (without pressing forward) or the folder to the left of it, this time instead of clicking back you press "Apple+up arrow" then you go back and see where you came from with the folder highlighted. Makes for a frustrating time navigating through a large directory. Any way to fix this?

Ok, I think i get what you are saying.
Your using icon view? (view 1)
Try Column view (command+3), I find the hierarchical view far more navigable in general, and very useful for large numbers of files/directories, It remembers where you came from, there are just a few inconsistencies like the home, desktop, apps, utilities directories (the ones accessible via key commands) that screw it up. Other than that it's perfect.
If you don't like that view then you can always set the finder to open folders in new windows (and continue to use icon view)... If the majority of the time you don't want to have finder open folders in new windows, then leave it off and hold command (Apple) when you double click a folder to open it in a new window on that occasion.

I am missing the old view option

I haven't used this in years, but it seems like there was an easy way to view the site structure form a hierarchal view.. ie: when I clicked on the button,I could see a graphical representationon of all the files and folders and how they linked to one another as well as any broken links, etc.
How can I get that view in DW CS4... it seems to be gone.. darnit.

It is there but well hidden. For good reasons - it has not kept up with some of the more recent design standards (see below)
If you are comfortable editing the Registry in Windows - being sure to back up everything first - look for the following entry
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Adobe\Dreamweaver CS4\Feature Management
and then change key SiteMap from FALSE to TRUE.
You may have to define the home page and the layout options in the site definition.
Note: it does not do well with finding menus defined in css files and/or server-side includes.It was a lot more useful back in the (bad) old days of DW8.
