Disk still marked as MISSING/HUNG

SR 6603696.993
We have a stretch cluster using normal redundancy in ASM, one failgroup on the main site and one on the contingency site. There are 3 disk groups. At some poin there was a problem with the link which caused the failgroup at the contingency site to get dropped and leaving the disks in HUNG/MISSING state with duplicate entries in v$asm_disk (as documented on metalink). To fix this I dropped the disks, zapped the disk headers and then added them back in with the 2nd failgroup. I did this successfully on another system yesterday and it worked totoday as well. However, for the STRMP_DATADG01 disk group the problem disks did not get fully dropped as far as ASM is concerned even though I successfully added them back in. Can you advise? Trying to drop the disks again has not helped. Reluctant to use force option without advice.
No errors. It seems OK.

MISSING/HUNG status is caused by insufficient number of disks in the failgroups within a normal redundancy diskgroup. In other words, this is a kind of warning of ASM. If the online disk is crashed unfortunately, then data will be lost.
This is already discussed in Bug 4998643 and bug 4910037 which are closed as not a bug. There is actually no loss of service or data as a result. When a new failure group is added back then redundancy will be restored. Redundancy requirements are also satisfied and data remains unchanged after rebalance is completed.

  • Restoring Vista O/S from Win 8.1 upgrade. Will the restore disks still work?

My HP G60 came with Vista. It has been upgraded to Windows 8.1 but the audio function has become non-functional. Is there a need for a new driver to solve this issue? If not, I am thinking of restoring Vista from restore disks. Can the restore disks still work now that it has Windows 8.1 in it?
    This question was solved.

Restoring with Recovery Disks with work and take back the system to Windows Vista. However, If you need drivers, please follow these steps:
    1. In the Run box type devmgmt.msc.
    2. Unknown devices would be listed as such and marked out with a yellow question mark.
    3. Select the unknown device or other device for which you need drivers and right click to access Properties.
    4. In the Properties window click on Details tab and select Device Instance Id  or Hardware ID from the drop down.
    5. An alphanumeric string like this PCI\VEN_1217&DEV_7130&SUBSYS_012F1025&REV_01\4&6B16D5B&0&33F0 is the identification marker for the device.
    6. Please provide this number so that we can suggest the appropriate driver.

I moved my FCP events and projects folder onto my external hard drive and now everything is gone on FCP.  When I tried to reload those folders onto FCP nothing happened.  I still get the missing files image.  When I try to import the folders manually something pops up that says it is incompatable.  It is possible to retrieve everything that was lost?

"When I tried to reload those folders onto FCP nothing happened"
Brownale6 how can  u reload folder in to FCP.
As you said folders are moved to external disk but have you checked it should be like this
    For Event
external disk>Final Cut Events>your event folder.
    For project
external disk>Final Cut Projects>your project folder.

Restart your MBP holding the trackpad down and hopefully the disk will be ejected.  Then try to return it and get a refund or put it in the trash.  There is nothing that software does for your MBP that you cannot do yourself or with free software.
If can get your MBP started, delete all traces of the offending software.  Worst case is that you may have to erase the HDD and reload the OS and your user data.  I trust that you have a backup (minus MacTuneUp).

  • Replaced font still appearing in missing fonts

    Hi All,
In my FrameMaker template I was missing a font called "Palatino". I changed the font in the template to another font that is available with me.
I changed the font in every Paragraph tag and Character tag in the template. And did Global Update. I double checked everything.
I did it manually in one of the files and imported to the other files.
But in some of the book files, I am still getting the missing font alert for "Palatino". It is a mystry for me, where I am leaving some track of the old font. I am 100% sure the font do not appear in any of the Paragraph tags and Character tags in the template
Is there a way I can search for that font in the book files.
Please let me know. I quick help will be highly appreaciated.
    Regards,
    Com

    Hi,
Font info is also stored here:
Stored table tags or in a deleted table title
In a left/right master page, if your document is single sided and you had deleted the master page of the other side
    Master pages
    Reference pages
    Graphics files
You can also open the MIF file (preferably with MIFBrowse: http://www.grahamwideman.com/gw/tech/framemaker/mifbrowse.htm or in another text editor) and search for the font name.
Or you can deactivate "Remember missing font names" in the Preferences and then open your file. FrameMaker will permanently replace Palatino with another font. Only if the font is used by a graphics file, FrameMaker will still try to find this font.

  • I have moved but my iPad is still marking my position at my old place

I have an iPad 3 wi-fi only, my home internet is cable (Telstra). I recently moved to a new house, my connection was moved and I kept the same modem.
However, my iPad is still marking my position on Maps as if I were in my old place. How can I fix this? Any clue where the problem may be? Modem configuration? Carrier (Telstra)? Or Apple location services?

Wi-Fi only iPads do not have the GPS chip installed that allows for precise location determination. Instead the devices location is determined by a database listing that gives the location of the router. Your router might have moved with you but its location as listed in the database did not change. That's why your location shows as your previous residence. The location of the router may be updated eventually but it won't happen quickly, I think.

  • Files marked as missing in iTunes

My iTunes music storage folder is on an external drive. I recently started iTunes without the drive attached, and when i tried playing songs it obviously couldn't find the songs. Now all of a sudden there a hundreds of songs that are marked as missing, or whatever that mark means to the right of each song. After connecting the drive back I am able to listen to those songs, but only if i double click on the song. iTunes won't play them automatically if these marked songs are next in the sequence. My question is how can i Unmark all these songs so that iTunes once again starts playing them normally. I hope my question is clear enough.
    thanks.

Try using my update script: http://ottodestruct.com/itunes/update.txt
Rename it to update.js, then run it like any other program. It'll force iTunes to reread all your files. Might take a while, and has no progress meter, so be patient.

  • Are OS installation disks still regionalised?

I'm trying to find an OS 10.4.6 or whatever installation DVD and there are a few available in the US. (I'm in the UK.) There are very occasional examples available in the UK.
My question is: *Are Apple installation disks still regionalised as they were in the old days - ie will I end up with a US version of the OS if I buy a US-sourced DVD?*
I want to keep Classic and believe 10.4.6 has it. Though finding copies is turning up some VERY expensive software at over $215 or over GBP200 for an installation DVD. I guess the fact that 10.4.6 is the last OS with Classic (?) is really pushing its price up! I did find one in California at $119 the other day but shipping was going to be the same again.
(I presently have 10.3.9 on my laptop G4 which is the one I want to change. (I have 10.5.6 on the desktop G5 but I have to keep one machine capable of running Classic applications for the forseeable future.))

The Tiger install DVDs include various world-wide languages that you can select from at installation.
If you currently have OS 9.x installed which enables you to operate in classic mode, the OS 9 system files in a folder called System Folder will not be disturbed when you upgrade to Tiger.
Tiger install DVDs are in short supply. Tiger is no longer available from Apple. For other sources, do a Google search for MA453Z/A (10.4.6), MA190Z/A (10.4.3) and M9639Z/A (10.4) . Also look on eBay. Be sure & buy a retail version (black with silver X) and not a model specific version (gray). Expect to pay (possibly a lot) more than the Apple list price of $129.

  • 80g classic disk still spins after shutdown

I have the battery drain symptoms on my 80g classic that are mentioned here a couple of times (from a full charge to nothing in a few hours when switched off). Tonight after having to charge again before I could sync, I was playing some music and then held down play/pause to shut down. It did shut down - apparently anyway. For some reason I then put the back of the Ipod to my ear (having removed the ear phone first of course :-)) and was surprised to hear the disk still whirring away. Left it for a minute or so and it was still whirring away so decided to turn it on and off again. But it would not turn on - no change to disk, still spinning away! So did the reset procedure and it came alive eventually and the disk had now stopped. Tried a few times to recreate it without success.
Now the battery drain only happens sometimes and I am guessing it is caused when the disk gets stuck spinning even though I have turned it off. Sooooooo, has anyone else noticed this? I am on 1.0.2 btw. Do I have a defective Ipod or is there something in the firmware that is causing this to happen apparently at random?

    Hello everybody,
I've got the same problem. (hd spinning, battery draining). But it only occurs when I select a song using the coverflow menu.
Everytime I want to open a menu or play a song I can hear the hd spinning but as soon as the iPod has gathered all the info it needs the hd will stop spinning, even when I am playing a song. Just before the hd stops spinning I can hear a clicking sound +(put your ear against your iPod)+
I've noticed when I select a song using the 'playlist' or 'album' menu the hd will start spinning and after a few seconds I hear a little click and then the hd stops. Or when I press&hold the play button the iPod shuts down and the hd stops spinning.
But when I select a song using the coverflow menu the hd starts spinnig and just like always I can hear the same little click but this time the hd will not stop. When I press&hold the play button the iPod will shut down but the hd keeps spinning. The only way the stop the hd is to go back to the coverflow menu or any other menu using the menu button. Then I can shut the iPod down by press&hold the play button.
I've been listeng to my music using the album menu for a couple of days now and the stamina of the battery is just like it should be.
So I think the battery draining is caused by the hd that keeps spinnig while listening to music or after shutdown.
And the not stopping of the hd spinning (with my iPod anyway) is caused by the coverflow menu or everytime I select a song using the coverflow menu.
beware coverflowbugs do excist and they feed on the energy of fully charged iPods

  • Airport Disk still broken after latest software update

    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1244463
I like how the topic above was marked as 'solved' and archived. Another Airport software has come and gone and Airport disks are still broken. Mine let me copy 74GB of data to it, but refuses to show the contents via the USB port. Anyone had any luck with this after the latest software update?

I have had similar issues since upgrading to Snow Leopard. The first time, I took my MacBook to be checked and the tech said it booted up fine under another startup disk. Since it's under warranty, they just reloaded the original system (Leopard) and I needed to rely on a time machine backup. Now, after the latest software update from Apple, I had the same problem, and am restoring from the latest Time Machine backup.
Does anyone know if this is a systemic problem? Any tips on preventing a repeat the next time I need to update my system software?
    Thanks.

  • Disk Image Mounter is missing

I recently bought my mac, and i haven't been able to download anything, I don't have Disk Image Mounter, I have searched and searched even went as far as reinstalling the MacOSX bundle, and i still don't have it, I have not been able to download anything from the net since i bought it, is there a place where i can download it or do i just need to get on the phone with apple care and pitch a fit?

The path to DiskImageMounter is /System/Library/CoreServices.
If you're sure you don't have it. You can copy it from another Intel Mac, or You may be able to repair this with the 10.4.6 Stand Alone Combo Updater.
This is a fuller install, as opposed to an incremental "delta" update so it should overwrite any files that are damaged or missing. It does not matter if you have applied it before. It has worked well for many.
Remember to Verify Disk before update and repair permissions before and after update from /Applications/Utilities/Disk Utility.
Alternatively you might get someone to email you the app it's only 172K. Ask them to .zip it for safe transport.
    Good luck. Let us know.

  • Missed calls - a missed call is shown on the screen when the phone is locked. I slide the icon an the phone calls the back to the missed number. The phone still show a missed no. It should clear the icon since I obviously noted the missed call. Any fixes?

Ok, a wish for the next iOS release, just a small anoying thing.
    Scenario:
I have a missed call, the screen is locked. The name of the caller shows up on the screen, I slide the phone icon and phone back.
When I've ended the call there is still a notification of a missed call, i.e. the same missed call that I just called back. To clear the missed call red circle icon on the phone icon (in the unlocked state and the notification on the locked screen) I must open the missed call list. Then it clears.
My wish is that the phone understands that it should clear that missed call after I returned the call since I have obviously noted it.
-> Is this something apple will update or is there a setting that I could change?
    /Erik

You have to return the call via the recent list or tap the red missed call entry in recent list otherwise even a hundred calls won't turn the balloon off.

  • Hard Disks Still in Good Condition But Cannot Be Recognized

We have just retired two 250GB harddisks from server service to give way to bigger drives running on 10.4.11 Server version. These drives have 10.3.9 Server edition installed and were still working well when we pulled them out of XServe. I am trying to reformat them for storage use but they are not showing up in any of the PowerMac G4s (Tower) that I've installed them on. A technician earlier warned me that the old drives were installed in XServe in "spiked" method, whatever that means, and they may not open when installed individually in the client Macs. I've tried to format them in target mode but they also can't be detected either by our iMacs running on 10.5.2 or G4s running on 10.4.11. Any thoughts? Thanks you.

    Hi, Desert Stag -
A technician earlier warned me that the old drives were installed in XServe in "spiked" method....
Might the tech have said "striped"? If so, that would indicate they had been set up as part of a RAID configuration. I would think they should still be able to be formatted using Disk Utility.
If all else fails, one trick to try is to take them to a friend with a PC, and format them using that machine as a PC volume. Then bring them back to the Mac - the Mac should then be able to re-initialize them as if they were brand new drives.

  • ICloud drive disk still full AFTER upgrading to 1TB storage space

    Hello,
I just bought the $19.99/month 1TB iCloud storage plan so that I can back up all 800GB of my iMac data to my iCloud Drive. However, when I drag and drop my files over to my iCloud Drive in Finder, it says disk full. Am I doing something wrong? There should definitely be more than enough room. I have also checked to make sure my storage plan was indeed upgraded correctly in iCloud management and there is definitely a full 1TB of available space.
I have even tried backing up my files to my iCloud Drive using Time Machine. My understanding was that with the Yosemite 10.10.2 update, iCloud Drive should now show in Time Machine's preferences as a back up drive option. But after upgrading to 10.10.2, I still do not see it in there as an option.
    Please help!
    Thanks in advance.
    Kit

So is there no way of not creating the shadow copy on my local machine also?
No, iCloud Drive is meant for the working copies of your documents - to store them on a central location in iCloud and update them on all your devices. The shadow copies are there, to guarantee, that you can access the documents, when you are offline.  See:  iCloud Drive FAQ
Sounds like using Time Machine to backup a single copy to my iCloud Drive would achieve this right? But as I said in my original post, I'm not seeing iCloud Drive as a back up target disk option in preferences.
Time Machine can backup your iCloud Drive, but it cannot backup to iCloud drive. Perhaps you misunderstood, what the latest Yosemite update meant for Time Machine:  (see this link:
About the OS X Yosemite v10.10.2 Update - Apple Support)
Adds the ability to browse iCloud Drive in Time Machine
This means, that you can now restore your iCloud Documents from Time Machine more easily, because you can browse them, but Time Machine cannot store backups on iCloud Drive.
