Display packages from category X, repository Y on commandline

Yesterday I set up my first arch system. After fiddling around with the boot disks I managed to install via PXE. After I had it working there were no problems with the installation at all. I installed only the base system as suggested by the installer. Now the question: How can I display the packages from category X, repository Y on commandline, for instance all Editors in repository Current.
The command
pacman -S -g
only shows a subset, like xfce4, gimp. Or do I misunderstand anything?

There are no real categories in the repository.. just repositories.
To search for keywords on packages, use
$ pacman -Ss searchterm
for example..
$ pacman -Ss term
would bring up things like aterm, rxvt, gnome-terminal..etc.
the groups (-g) are for installing collections of packages. think of the things in -g as meta-packages...
Like installing all of gnome in one command..
$ pacman -Sg
What is in the gnome meta package?
$ pacman -Sg gnome
gnome
control-center epiphany gnome-applets gnome-backgrounds gnome-common
gnome-desktop gnome-icon-theme gnome-media gnome-mime-data gnome-mount
gnome-panel gnome-session gnome-themes gnome2-user-docs metacity nautilus
yelp
oh look..gnome..i want that...
$ pacman -S gnome

Install all packages from a given repository?

Is there a way to install every package from a given repository? For example, say I wanted to install every package from core (or at least every non-conflicting package, since systemd-sysvcompat is an issue)? I thought maybe something like '# pacman -S core' might do it, but it didn't.
Back when AIF was still around, I could do this by checking everything at install time, but now it's a multi-step process to collect all the packages and then install them.

For me, I found I was using most of what was in [core] and it was easier for me to just install everything in it than to weed out the handful that I didn't need. Yes, I know there are _that_ many packages in [core], I'm just _that_ lazy.
In another scenario, I could see someone wanting to have an uber-system with absolutely everything possible and available installed. I used to do this a few years back with distros like Fedora where I would do a complete install.

Remove package from local IPS repository

I published a custom package to my local IPS repository, but I would like to remove it. Obviously you can use pkgsend to add to the repository, but I can't seem to find any option to remove packages.
anyone had luck with this? is it even possible?

That functionality is not present in Solaris 11 Express. A kludgey way to do it, though, is to remove the package from the repository's pkg directory, then rebuild the catalog. However, the files belonging to the package will still be around in the files directory. They just won't be accessible.

How to install packages from local folder

Hi all,
I have downloaded all arch linux packages from the following URLs:
ftp://mirrors.kernel.org/archlinux/core/os/i686/
ftp://mirrors.kernel.org/archlinux/extra/os/i686/
ftp://mirrors.kernel.org/archlinux/community/os/i686/
and then have saved them to an external hard disk. Then I have attached that external hard disk to my system and packages are available in following folders:
/mnt/external_hd/Arch_Linux/Core-OS/
/mnt/external_hd/Arch_Linux/Extra-OS-1/
/mnt/external_hd/Arch_Linux/Extra-OS-2/
/mnt/external_hd/Arch_Linux/Community-OS-1/
/mnt/external_hd/Arch_Linux/Community-OS-2/
/mnt/external_hd/Arch_Linux/Community-OS-3/
Now I want to install some or all packages from these folder with the help of pacman command. I am seeing that package corresponding to wvdial command is available in the /mnt/external_hd/Arch_Linux/Extra-OS-1/ folder. But how to use pacman command so that I can install wvdial package from that folder?
In addition to this if I want to install ALL Extra Packages available in the folders /mnt/external_hd/Arch_Linux/Extra-OS-1/ and /mnt/external_hd/Arch_Linux/Extra-OS-2/ then how to execute the pacman command?
Please send me step by step instructions so that I shall be able to install some or all downloaded packages.
I shall remain thankful for this forever.

Thanks for reply and searching for my username on google. It is true that I am a freelance s/w developer but I am not installing Arch Linux for any client. I am installing it due to some other reasons. In fact I started working on Red Hat and then on Fedora when I was a student of bachelor degree course in computer applications. Then later I searched open suse and started using it. I am using open suse from its 10.1 version. However the recent version of this distribution has become much resource consuming. So I am in the need of a light weight linux distribution. And I encountered Arch Linux. Then I purchased its installation disk from an online shop and installed it on my system. But only text mode is working at this moment. Since I want to use X window and so I started to follow the syntax of pacman command. But it is connecting to internet. Since my internet connection is slow (average speed of 10kbps) and so I requested the same online shop to download all packages from Arch Linux repository and send them to me. Therefore now I am having all those packages in my local external hard disk drive in the folder mentioned in my first post. Now I want to install packages from these folder. And so in order to get help I have come to this forum.
I have also followed the steps given on the pages https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Pa … l_commands and https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Pa … repository. But when I am trying to install a particular package using the following command:
pacman -U wvdial
then it is asking for a dependency. I know that the dependent package in my local folder but why it is not being automatically taken by pacman command? Can you please explain it.
That is why I am asking help only for customization and usages of pacman in order to install packages from local folder. But each member in this forum is only referring to long written manuals and not giving me exact solution which I think will involve four/five steps.

[SOLVED] Error building firefox-aurora from heftig's repository

I'm currently using the aurora package from heftig's repository at : http://pkgbuild.com/~heftig/aurora/ . No troubles with that so far in the time I've been using it (1-2 days).
Sometimes I like to rebuild certain packages to get a bit more of performance (don't expecting a huge increase) but this time I can't manage to build this one.
At some point after spending an hour or so building I get this error and makepkg finishes without building it:

I have no clue on what does trigger that error and the only thing I can think so far is if there is some kind of script that is somehow tailored to the server where usually the aurora package is build and that is making it fail on my laptop.
Does anyone experience this or have any clue on what could be causing this error?

Building the package in a clean chroot worked. Makes me think about the hosts config file on my system may have some problem. Anyway, solved.

Ok, i tried to use wiki and build firefox with kde patches and pgo from AUR repository.
I followed the instructions form wiki page you kindly provided, but every time i get:
==> ERROR: 'pacman' failed to install missing dependencies.
i think it's complaining about missing kmozillahelper which is available only in AUR. However i found another repository that includes kmozillahelper package -> no result. Can you give me an advise please?

Install some packages from [testing] repository

It is NOT safe to assume that ALL readers are competent. Just browse through the forums every once in a while. Hence care should be taken in giving advise.
This is not a private club, things posted here are read by many competent Arch users and some incompetent as well. Results show up in a Google search. Even though its perfectly valid for me to wash my motherboard in water to get rid of dust, I wouldn't post that advise here without big WARNING tags. This isn't an indication that I assume all users are idiots, but simply that I know there are some who will not understand the 'ifs' associated with such a thing.

for all the mirrors in the list . This started happening since few weeks .

You can also use reflector to get generate an up to date mirrorlist. Though this would involve using pacman. I imagine that you could also simply download the reflector package from the arch web site then install with "packable -U".
Since you have not indicated that the rest of you internet is ridiculously slow, I have to guess that it is your chosen mirror and not your connection.

Displaying fields from a Z Table on CRM UI

Hello Experts
I am trying to display fields from a custom table onto a CRM UI form view.
1. I created a custom GENIL root object & Search object ie. ZCUSTOMER. & ZCUSTSEARCH
2. Tested this in the GENIL BROWSER to ensure that I could enter update values to the table and retrieve it via the search object.
3. Created a custom component ZCUSTOMER
4. Created a view with this component ZCUSTOMER using the wizard -
     Model Name - CUSTINFO
     BOL Entity - ZCUSTOMER
     No links to the custom controller or higher level objects.(as I do not want to tie this to any standard components)
Type of view - Form view
7. Created a Context node for the component controller with the same info as I did for the view.
8. Performed the binding of the view context node with the component controller context node.
9. Configured 1 field CUST_NAME to be displayed on the view.
10. Configured the run time repository to display the view.
Now the issue is..
When the view gets displayed, the field is displayed with the error "CUST_NAME not bound"
What am i missing?

Thanks for the feedback. I re-viewed the WD_CREATE_CONTEXT method of the view controller implementation class and I see the following code in there already-
method WD_CREATE_CONTEXT.
create the context

JTree, displaying data from a database

Hi, im doing an application that will display the listing of courses, and allow users to book them. For the display of courses, i plan to use JTree to display them.
However my problem arises from fetchin data and putting them into the tree.
This file connects to the database and fetch the 'Course Category' and puts it in an Array.

I have managed to retrieve the items from the Category Table into a result set, and I have added the result set into an Array (See 1st post)
Now, the problem comes when im tryin to do a for loop to display out the categorynames from the array(see 1st post again).
Now my array prints out as follows

And if i put a for look into my application to display a JTREE,
My end results is

Running 5.5 U2e and VUM will no longer download software packages from patch source?

We had a vSphere 5.5 cluster configured for us by a 3rd-party through Dell as part of our purchase agreement. We are running vCenter Server 5.5 U2e on Windows 2012 R2 as a physical host. It does run Update Manager. In my most recent check today, Update Manager will scan a host and report patches that are needed. In this case we're at 5.5.0 Build 2456374 on our ESXi hosts. Update Manager detects 5 missing patches. After I put the host in maintenance mode, I remediate, select the patch group, and proceed through the screens. It starts its process and goes from 0% to 16% to 25% then sits there for about 1–3 minutes, then goes to 90%, 91%, and errors out saying:
"Cannot download software packages from patch source. Check the events and the Update Manager log for download details."
Multiple strange things:
This server was updating just fine a few months back when some previous patches were released.
It can see the internet just fine. No firewall issues.
Our failover site on the same network, but in a different location in the city is able to update just fine. Same hardware, network, and software versions.
Any ideas on where to look or what to try? I had gone ahead and update from vCenter Server 5.5 U2b to U2e (along with a VUM reinstall) hoping that would fix it, but it did not. Any help would be greatly appreciated, because we're not VMware experts and thought everything was set up correctly by the vendor. We were given a small amount of knowledge transfer, but nothing that would allow us to troubleshoot this.
The Update Manager config listed in vCenter Server points to just three sources, that look to be the default from hostupdate.vmware.com and vapp-updates.vmware.com. None of the settings have been changed from the initial install and configuration that were working at one point in the last few months (when I last patched the hosts to 2456374).
Looking through the vmware-vum-server-log4cpp.log I see these failures:

Ok, that's cool. But here's my question then. Why is Update Manager still reporting that it's an available patch for our ESXi hosts? I'm new to this and am just trying to get an understanding to avoid confusion like this in the future.

Looks like this was the problem. VMwareCares Twitter account confirmed that Update Manager needed a new repository query to grab the new metadata. After rescanning the ESXi host again, the number of available patches dropped from 5 to 1. I'm now successfully patching the ESXi hosts through Update Manager once again. Crisis avoided.

Display Document from BI Server in Crystal Report

As I see there was no response on these issue although it is marked as answered. I'll give a hint for the ones that might want to try this.
One could extract the metadata and documents from the tables names to be found in the tables SDOKLOTAB and SDOKPHTAB (as an example, for InfoObject documentation we have the tables BDSLOIO8, BDSLOIOT8, BDSLOPR8, BDSPHIO8 and BDSPHF8) or one could export the metadata from the BI repository (though, this is a manual approach).

Sorry that I still got problem on importing and make use of the class for knowledgemanagement. I can found the cooresponding .jar file in folder "jakarta-tomcat-3.3.2\webapps\irj\WEB-INF\plugins\portal\services\knowledgemanagement\lib". And added the services reference as "ServicesReference=htmlb, knowledgemanagement". However, I still can't use the class for KM.
I have read those code sample from KM in SDN, but they are mentioning the programming part and not the setting. Can you suggest the detail steps and code on adding the KM class into my customize class?
I am using Eclipse as my development tools.

Hi..
When you sell goods to a customer, you may send the goods in returnable packaging. During sales order processing, you simply enter the returnable packaging as an item in your order. You can process returnable packaging either as main items or as sub-items. For example, if you sell drinks in bottles and want the empty bottles to be returned, you can enter the bottles as sub-items for the drinks in the sales order. The item category group LEIH must be assigned to the bottles in the material master record so that they are processed as returnable packaging. During processing, the system recognizes that it is dealing with returnable packaging because the item category group LEIH is assigned to the material. The system then determines another item category in the sales order to allow the material to be processed as returnable packaging. As a result of entering returnable packaging in a sales order, the system carries out the following actions.
If special stock does not yet exist in your inventory for the customer (or special stock partner), the system creates it when goods issue is posted
The relevant quantity is removed from regular inventory in your plant and is added to the special stock for the customer. The total valuated stock for the plant remains the same.
The transaction is not relevant for pricing since the consignment stock remains the property of your company.
Returnable Packaging Pick-Up
If the customer returns the returnable packaging to you, you record the transaction in the system by creating a returnable packaging pick-up order (order type LA). As a result, the system carries out the following actions:

Your total valuated stock remains the same since the returned stock was regarded as part of your own inventory even while it was at the customeru2019s premises.

The customer decides to keep the returnable packaging
The customer damages the returnable packaging and you decide to charge the customer
The customer sells the returnable packaging to a third party
As a result of processing a returnable packaging issue, the system carries out the following actions:

When you ship returnable packaging to the customer, you do not need to use a special order type. The transaction is a normal business transaction and you can use either a standard sales order or, if appropriate, a free of charge delivery.
Pricing and Availability Check
Whether pricing is carried out for the individual transactions depends on the item category. The schedule line category controls the availability check and the transfer of requirements in each of the transactions. The schedule line category itself is determined by the item category and the MRP type of the material. The order types LN and LA check against returnable packaging for the relevant customer. Requirement records for returnable packaging stock are stored as individual requirements, independently of the setting in the material master record.

Navigate to Package from Code Inspection results

Hi,
I created a simple Code Inspector check to see whether our packages have the right Transport Layer and Software Component. The check works fine, but I'd like to add navigation (so when I click the link "Display Object" in the result list, the package is displayed).
But it doesn't. It only says "Program <Package name> not found.
There is one note 1762948, but it doesn't look very promising, since in method CL_CI_RESULT_PROGRAM->IF_CI_TEST~NAVIGATE, RESULT-SOBJTYPE is not correct (PROG instead of DEVC).
I also implemented the NAVIGATE-Method in my test class, but to no avail (it is not called when I trigger navigation, or at least no breakpoint is reached there).
So before I open a ticket for this, I'd like to know whether anybody has managed to navigate to a package from Code Inspector using this way. I know it is possible if I just click on the package name in the result list. That is a workaround, but not a usable solution.

Take a look at
CL_CI_RESULT_ABAP_COMPLEXITY and
CL_CI_TEST_ABAP_COMPLEXITY
In the test class the method GET_RESULT_NODE binds it to the RESULT class. Then the NAVIGATE method is implemented in the RESULT class. Use the parameters to transfer additional information to the result class.

Is TRex required to display content from Content Server in the Portal?

Hi all gurus!
A short question: do you have to have TRex (or any other search/index engine) when you want to display content from a SAP Content Server in the portal? Or does the content server has its own search/index engine?

Hi,
Sap content server can be added in the portal as an KM repository. So configuration is needed. But when finished you can open and look at the content server like they are normal KM folders. TREX on the other hand is advisable in order to have the means to quickly find something in your content server. Otherwise it is like any other stupid file structure. lots of files and lots of folders.
Depending on you portal version you need to install a bussiness pack for document managment to get the content server visable in KM
