Display shrinks when running an application modified by SwitchResX

I play the Elder Scrolls Online and was trying to tweak around with the game's settings to get the most frames possbile while running the game with a high level of rendering samples. I did this by lowering the game's window resolution by one level while in full screen. However, after a recent update the game's true full screen no longer works and I'm unable to change the game's in-game resolution. The game automatically sets itself to my Macbook Pro's native display, and this results in a frame rate drop.
As a workaround, at least until it was fixed, I would lower my Macbook's native display before running the game, and restore it when I was finished playing. This was tedious to me, and I looked around for a program that would automatically change the display on a specfic application's startup or exit. I found SwitchResX at http://www.madrau.com/ and wanted to try it. I made it so that the resolution would switch to 1280 x 800 whenever ESO was loaded. It worked fine, but I wanted to do a comparision of frames at the normal resolution to see if it actually fixed anything. This is where my problem lies: after closing ESO and disabling the SwitchResX setting, the entire screen shrinks down to a small square whenever I run other applications (initially I thought it was just with ESO, but I found out that more programs were affected while typing this), and most of it is surrounded by a big black border:
(You can see the tool bar and the application dock hanging in the middle of the screen)
I've tried:
Uninstalling SwitchResX
Changing the display
Changing the display while running the programs affected
Soft Reseting
Hard Rereseting
A NVRAM Reset
And lastly, recreating my problem.
These haven't worked for me. Can someone help me out here?

I fixed it this morning. After a little more searching, I discovered the Mac's Safe Boot mode, and messed around with the resolution in there. This fixed my problem as all the programs run normally now.

I really apreciate some help !

It seems that the Java Environment can't connect to the Display (perhaps no XServer is running or the display variable is not set correctly)
This seems to be the case when the call
java.awt.GraphicsEnvironment.getLocalGraphicsEnvironment(GraphicsEnvironment.java:62)
fails.

• Error when running deployed application on AS

When deploying an application to Oracle AS 10.1.3, I experience no problems. When running the application, I receive an error:

When testing the application module, I receive no errors. The application also runs succesfully on the embedded OC4J server of Jdeveloper. Any idea on what the problem could be, or a suggestion on where to start searching?
Regards.

• T410 laptop turns off abruptly when running any application

Hi,
T410 laptop turns off abruptly when running any application. I contacted the technical support, first they suggested me to run some diagnostics for hard disk which failed and so they sent me a new hard disk. Even then I faced the same problem. Again I contacted them and they told that they will change the system board. Today I received the laptop with new system board/updated BIOS.
But still I am facing the same problem. I called the technical support again, they told me to use the latop in two modes ( 1. only battery and 2. only ac adapter) and check whether its happening again or ont. In both the cases I am seeing the same problem.
Laptop is only 5 months old and bought for $1400........
SOmebody help me........

Hi and welcome to the forum!
Tell us something more about your system, like installed memory size, processor speed, graphics card make and size, HDD size and so forth. Because yours is CTO model hence it's not possible to figure out these things without your telling us about them.
I'm not very expert but I would say it's probably the RAM since system board and HDD have already been replaced or possibly you have got a lemon. But try following suggestions first.
Do you get any sort of error message or Bluescreen? does Event Viewer report something unusual? Event Viewer can be opened by typing it's name in the search field in Windows 7. If you get Bluecreen you can view it via this program:- http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/blue_screen_view.html and let us know what it says.
Also, make a bootable CD of mem86 and run the test on your RAM, mem86 can be downloaded free from:- http://www.memtest86.com/
Lastly, you can burn LiveCD of any Linux distro and boot from it, if applications work fine in Linux environment then probably it's some software problem your thinkpad is having, re-imaging the system to factory state would be great initiative in that case.
Keep us posted!
Maliha (I don't work for lenovo)
ThinkPads:- T400[Win 7], T60[Win 7], IBM 240[Win XP]
IdeaPad: U350
Apple:- Macbook Air [Snow Leopard]
Did someone help you today? Compliment them with a Kudos!

• Some error when running WD Application accessing ABAP Functions

Dear friends,
I try to deploy and run the Example Application "TutWD_FlightList_Init", but it's always display the error like the following (see at the bottom of this message).
By the way I'll give your more informations like this:
1) My NWDS and SAP J2EE Engine are the same version as SP09 and my SAP version is SAP ERP Central Component 5.0.
2) the application does not has any errors in the Tasks view of NWDS.
3) all of necessary environments (SLD, SDM, SAP J2EE Engine and JCO) are already setting up and still runing.
4) the testing of connection between SLD and JCO is OK.
5) My SAP system, which I acessing remotely to retrieve th flight data, is currently available and contains flight data.
6) All mapping should be OK, because I tried to develop step by step as the example.
7) the screen after running the application should be following(after "<---" is my comment):
Select the Flight Connection <--- Header text
Departure City <--- 1st Input Field
Arrival City <--- 2nd Input Field
Search                         <--- Push Button
But for my application, it displays
Select the Flight Connection
Departure City --> An error has occured:
"Failed to process the request."
Please contact your system administrator.
Please advises,

Dear Satyajit,
I got more problem and I don't known why, I tried to apply as your recommendation to change the singleton from 'true' to 'false' and deploy & run again. But it's got another error (please see at the bottom of message).
And when I connect to WebDynpro Content Administrator via IE. At the Browse > Deployed Content > Local > local/TutWD_FlightList_Init > Applications > FlightListApp, I saw the error "Failed to find classpath for local/TutWD_FlightList_Init".
By the way at the JCO Connection tab, the status of 2 connections is Green and any connection testing was successfully. Please advise.
PS. I do not sure that my friend has try to test the same example like me on the same server today, May it be the cause of incosistency problem?
Thanks very much for your help,
SeMs

• No records in titl block when running in application server

hi all,
i am facing problem when running forms in application server. the error msg whcih is coming is FRM-41092: No Records in block TITL.
can any one help pls.....
Regards
Natesh

how about - directly after querying the master record...
go_block(<block>)
if :blk.key (or :blk.rowid) is null then
SET_ITEM_PROPERTY('<buttonname>',enabled, property_false);

• Automatic update of web.xml when running UIX application

I moved my UIX project from 9.02 to 9.03. The UIX resource files have changed between the versions so I deleted the old cabo folder so that when I ran my applicaton for the first time it would rebuild it. When I ran my application my web.xml file was automatically updated with the following servlet initialisation parameters:
<init-param>
<param-name>oracle.cabo.servlet.pageBroker</param-name>
<param-value>oracle.cabo.servlet.xml.UIXPageBroker</param-value>
</init-param>
<init-param>
<param-name>oracle.cabo.ui.UIExtensions</param-name>
<param-value>oracle.cabo.data.jbo.ui.JboUIExtension</param-value>
</init-param>
The problem is that I've got my own pageBroker already defined in web.xml so when I run my application it used UIXPageBroker instead. This took me a while to find - my app just suddenly stopped working. I don't know what actually updated web.xml but I think it needs to check for the presence of these parameters before inserting them.
Cheers
Ian

Sorry about that Ian, I agree that the code should
check for the presence of another PageBroker. I'll
log a bug and bring this up with the development
team.

• SOAP error when running webdynpro application

Hi All,
I have developed a web dynrpo application using ABAP webdynpro in se80.
When I run the application, I am getting the following error
"The following error text was processed in the system WC3 : WebDynpro Exception: SOAP Framework error: SOAP Runtime Exception: CSoapExceptionTransport : HTTP send returned with status code(100.101). ꯂ 8
The error occurred on the application server sys90_WC3_00 and in the work process 0 .
The termination type was: RABAX_STATE "
What would be the reason for throwing this error? In the SOAP runtime of SICF, I am not able to see any web dynpro application set up. How can i add web dynpro service in SOAP runtime? Or is there any other specific reasons too for this error.
Any help is really appreciated.
Thanks
Ricky

HI All,
I have standalone ADS server and it is integrated with CRM system.when the user is trying to open/save the ads form he is getting an error webdynpro exception: the ads call has failed. i have checked test FP_TEST_00 things and that seems to be fine and i also have added one more extra role and still having the same problem.
SOAP error.
I got this error for bw system.so previous person who handling the systems told me that BW will have integrated ADS?which would get installed as part of bw installation?im not sure abt it? however one of the user is getting the SOAP error.
Can any one help me out with above scenarios pls

Hi Mandar,
When you say "back to the original page", make sure that you are going back to your "home" page and not to the logon page. Check the parent page on the breadcurmb that is failing.

This is using a cRIO 9074 running CompactRIO recommended software set 14.0.1 .
These errors happen right at startup. Memory use is steady in interactive mode, about 20 MB contiguous memory is unallocated out of 128 MB. I have taken pains to prevent allocation and follow cRIO besta practices non concatenated strings array building in loops etc). CPU is 50-60% when running interactive mode.
Really at my whit's end here, I have tried the various combination of enabling / disabling debugging in the RTEXE, disconnecting typedefs etc. I have not noticed a pattern.

Hello MarkCG,
What minor changes did you make to the serial communication code? Posting the VI or a screenshot of the VI with the modifications which caused the RTEXE to stop functioning could be useful to troubleshoot the issue.

The problem probably isn't in you code, nor manifest nor jad file, but in the package process. Your image have to be in the root dir of the .jar file, but it isn't there. Try to see what is in you .jar with your favourite compress tool or with this command:
%JAVA_HOME%\bin\jar -tfv <yoursuite.jar>

• Problem in using new InitialContext when running client application

Hi All,
We are having a web application which runs on weblogic server 6.1.
We are loading a servelet at startup which will load the application specific
properties file and bind it with the context.
In one of the classes in the .ear file we are looking up the data source like
this
InitialContext _initialContext = new InitialContext();
dataSource = (DataSource)
initialContext.lookup(ClaimsConstants.CLAIMSRDBMS);
con = dataSource.getConnection();
This works fine through the jsp.
But when I run a separate client program this lookup is failing.
I tried another way of looking up like this
Properties h = new Properties();
h.put(Context.INITIAL_CONTEXT_FACTORY,
"weblogic.jndi.WLInitialContextFactory");
h.put(Context.PROVIDER_URL, url);
Context _initialContext = new InitialContext(h);
dataSource = (DataSource)
initialContext.lookup(ClaimsConstants.CLAIMSRDBMS);
But the weblogic server got hanged for some time after it gave no messages coming
idle exception.
If any body knows the solution for this please reply. I am trying to develop an
application client but I don't know hoe to proceed. Any examples I can get for
writing a application client using weblogic is very much welcome.
Please give your valuable suggestions.

Hi Krishna,
servlet/jsp programs will work successfully in getting initial context of
application server, because they runs at server side, and server
automatically loaded the client library.
If you are using application client, you need to point the weblogic.jar the
application client classpath.What is the exception it is throwing?
Can you test the weblogic samples from the following location of your
installation
\bea\wlserver6.1\samples\examples
Thanks

Thanks for the reply. I have a simple view with just one textview field and two buttons. I have commented all code in the doinit method and mapped the context nodes again after deleting the previous ones.
still the error persists.
I have run this previously....just wondering what might have gone wrong now...
any pointers????
regards,
Priyank

• Error when running the application in BlackBerry 8830 Sprint Simulator

Hi,
I have created a web dynpro java application and when I tried to run in the BlackBerry 8830 Sprint Simulator, I am getting the following error
I am trying to take data from the R/3 Server through RFC Model,
Error:
HTTP Error 500: Internal Server Error

Regards, Mathan MP

Hi Mathan,
You can configure the proxy server by following these steps
Make sure that MDS is stopped.
1. Go to installation folder of your MDS. Like for example in my case
"C:\Program Files\Research In Motion\BlackBerry JDE 4.0.2\MDS\config"
2. Open the file rimpublic.property with a notepad/textpad.
3. Under section "# [HTTP HANDLER]", Change the following 3 properties
a. "application.handler.http.proxyEnabled = true" from false
b. "application.handler.http.proxyHost= proxyname"
c. "application.handler.http.proxyPort=portnumber"
After this you can restart the MDS and try to access any web link. Hope this helps.
Best Regards,
Siva.

Ok, I don't understand much from your stack dump there, but the ONLY time I've ever got a NullPointerException with the JAG is when I've deleted my bc4j.xcfg files from my ADF BC project in my application. I've fixed this by regenerating these files; which seems to occur when I open up my Application Module and then close it.
It's worth a shot I guess.
