Display tab content in Developer Studio 7.1

Hello all,
I've updated to Developer Studio 7.1 and imported my Web Dynpro Project from 7.0. So far, so good!
But, if I want to display the tab contents of my main view, I only can see the content of the 1st tab in the View Editor.
How can the content of the other tabs be displayed in the View Editor? Double-Click on each tab doesn't work... Is there any trick?

Hello
We just started using Database Studio, upgrading from Database Manager. We are trying to review the contents of the repositories like we were able to do with SQL Studio. Have been looking thorugh all the data on line and have not found anything that show how to see the repositories contents.
Is there a way to view the data in the repositories through database studio?

What 'documents' did you check on in Database Manager???
What do you mean by respository? Are you talking about a CONTENT SERVER??
If so, then how did you check documents from DB Manager?
The documents in content server are accessible via SQL - DB Manager is not and was not a SQL tool.
The Database Studio provides a quite good SQL editor - all you've to to is to provide an SQL logon to use it.
And, just in case you were talking about content server: the only supported way to check for the existence of a document is via the R/3 interface. Direct SQL on those tables is not supported.

Programatically disclosing tab does not cause tab contents to be displayed

I'm using Jdev 11g, update 2.
I have a page with a panelStretchLayout. The Start facet has a tree component. The Center facet has a panelTabbed component with 2 showDetailItems, each with different panelForms.
Manually clicking on the tabs shows the correct contents.
The tree has a SelectionListener mapped to a managed bean method. When a node is selected, the bean method sets one of the showDetailItems to disclosed.
There is PRR for the showDetailItems based on the tree.
This code does cause the right tab to become current. The problem is that the tab contents do not also display IF that tab was not previously the disclosed one.
An example:
Tree shows Departments & Employees, The first tab shows the selected Dept from the tree in a form, the other shows the selected Employee from the tree in a form.
When the page is run, the Dept tab is disclosed by default because it is the first one.
Select a Dept in the tree. The Dept tab remains disclosed and the correct Dept is displayed.
Select an Emp in the tree. The Emp tab become disclosed but it is blank. The Emp form does not appear.
Select a Dept in the tree to reset tabs.
Now manually click the Employee tab. The Employee formis displayed correctly with the last Emp selcted from the tree.
Select a Dept in the tree. Now the Dept tab becomes disclosed but it is blank.
My first thought was that this is a PRR problem with the tab children. But I've tried setting PRR on the panelForms so they are refreshed when the showDetailItems are refreshed. That didn't help.
I've also tried setting the rendered and visible properties for the tab child (form) programatically. No luck.
My current code for the selectionListener is:

That was it. I don't need to set up PPR for the showDetailItems either - just the panelTabbed. I'll remember to walk up and try PPR on all the parent components next time. Thanks.

Import SCA files in Development Tab of the Transport Studio take more time

Hi,
After Check-In files in the Transport Studio, the import of SCA files starts in the development Tab of the Transport Studio.
The import takes more time. Why this happens?
Am I missing any configuration? Please specify in detail.

Unable to display Developer Studio help

When I try to display Help within Developer Studio, I get an error window saying the page cannot be displayed. In the window, it has:
Error Code: 502 Proxy Error. The ISA Server denied the specified Uniform Resource Locator (URL). (12202)
Well, how am I supposed to tell our support people what the problem is if developer studio will not tell me the exact URL it's trying to access?
Help was working a few weeks ago but broke last week. Another developer has the same problem so it's not just my workstation.

this is a strange problem but I remember I had this also some time ago.
Just as background, eclipse seems to start a tomcat server as webserver for the helpcontent. The help window than is nothin g else than just an embedded browser. Try to start a normal webbrowser with this URL :
http://127.0.0.1:1527/help/index.jsp
(I am not sure if the port is the same on every machine).
maybe your proxy settings prevent this call.

Developer Studio 7.0 image would not be displayed in view editor

Hi ,
i have installed the licensed version of Netweaver Developer Studio 7.0.09.
When i created an view ,uielements etc., and copied an png-File or jpeg File to source/mimes/components , and set the source property=<filename>, the view-editor display an 'X', so that the image would not be displayed !
Is there an bug in Version 7.0.09 ?
Or maybe some missing plugins ?

Unfortunately, if you are getting that error - it indicates that the NWDS installation is corrupted.
You will need to uninstall the NWDS and reinstall it - backup your data before doing so.

Error deploying PAR file from Developer Studio (NW04)

Hello,
i've got a problem while trying to deploy a PAR file from NW Developer Studio.
The PAR Export function says
"Unable to connect to the Portal",
the portal itself gives the following response:
"ERROR: Upload failed - exception caught: com.sapportals.portal.prt.runtime.PortalRuntimeException: Invalid content type submitted - no multipart data"
Deploying the PAR file manually using the Administration Console (system administration tab) of the portal works fine, but why doesn't the PAR Export function of NWDS?

Hi Jörg,
as a general advise, use the NWDS version corresponding to the Servers version, so in this case, upgrade (or better: install new) NWDS 2.0.14. The main reason is WebDynpro compatibility, but the deploy mechanism may need this too.
At least, give it a try and report if you have success (or not).

Problems deploying par file via Netweaver Developer Studio

I have problems deploying a par file using the SAP Netweaver Developer Studio.
In the SNWDS i configure the following:
Window -> Preferences -> SAP Enterprise Portal
Alias: IEP
Host: khz059
Port: 52900
Login: Administrator
Description: Testportal
The logon Url of the portal is http://khz059:5290052900/irj/portal
If i try to upload a par file via "Quick PAR Upload" i get the error messages:
"Unable to connect to the portal
Operation failed: Please make sure the server 'IEP' (khz059:52900) is running or check the log (sap-plugin.log) for more detail."
Am I using the proper settings? Am I using the wrong port?
I don't know whats wrong.

Hi Nils,
I think you must have selected the defualt checkbox (Try and uncheck that). Also uncheck the checkbox for "Yes, I want to remeber the password for deployment" if it is also selected. When you deploy the par file now enter the password and try to deploy. I think this will solve your problem.
Apart from this, try this methos of deploying the Par file.
1) Save you project. Right click it and "Quick par Upload".
2) On your browser type
"http://<your_server_name>:50000/irj/servlet/prt/portal/"
Your case:
http://khz059:52900/irj/servlet/prt/portal/
or same page you can get by navigating:
System Administration-> Support-> Portal Runtime-> Administration Console.
3) At the option "Please specify a Portal Archive file (PAR) and press "upload" to store it into the PCD." Deploy your par file by giving the path.
Now you file is deployed on the server. If you want to create an Iview from this deployed .par file then :
1) On your portal. Follow the path: Content Administrator-> Portal Content -> Portal Content(sub-option). Right click -> New from par ->iView.
2) Here in the list you will find the par file which you have uploaded. Proceed as said.
3) You will finally have an iView. Right click it and preview it.

Creation of custom page without using NetWeaver Developer Studio

In my project, we have not installed NetWeaver Developer Studio. We are using EP 7.0.
We have to create a custom page for the project. In this page, we have to provide seperate iViews links.
The page should look like this:
iView 1 - Link                iView 2 - Link        iView 1 - Link
Help iView 1-Link        Help iView 1-Link     Help iView1-Link
I tried to do so by creating a page. In the page, I tried to use 'Three Coloumn Page' layout. The iviews are getting displayed in following way:
iView 1 (iView is getting displayed .Link not getting displayed)
Help iView 1 (iView is getting displayed .Link not getting displayed)
iView 2(iView is getting displayed .Link not getting displayed)
I can not display link of all six iViews. Further more iViews are getting displayed in one coloumn and 3 rows. I can see the iViews directly. I am not able to display links for iViews.
I need 3 coloumns and 2 rows layout.
Can you please let me know how to achieve this?

When user will click on any iView link, the relevant iView should be displayed. The iView can be displayed in seperate new page. So naturally five iView link will not be displayed.
I am planning to create one HTML page and store it in KM. I will call this page in portal content area.
There will be hyperlink on this HTML page. The hyper link will be attached to other iView links in KM.
Whenever user will click on any Help link or iView link the corresponding iView will be called from KM.
So in KM we will store 7 objects. 3 HTMLpages for help. 1 HTML page for main page.
Other 3 will point to iView-Link1, iView-Link2 and iView-Link3.
Can I do so? Will it sort out my problem?

Netweaver Developer Studio Start Up Problem

i have installed NDS 2.0.9.
When i am trying to run it , its giving me a problem--
 Problems during startup.Check the .log file in the .metadata directory of ur workspace.

I checked the .log file but cudnt figure out what is the real problem.

Netweaver Developer Studio JSPDynPage

I am developing a small app using JSPDynPage. when i try to open the JSP page in the pagelet folder. Instead of opening the file in the editor, its asking for whether i want to save it or open the file.If i say open it opens in a notepad, if i say cancel I am getting the below message.i can see the source code when i click the source tab. I am using demo version of Netweaver developer studio. I think it s not finding right editor to open.

The problem has probably been caused by a file association made outside of Netweaver i.e. opened a .JSP file with notepad in Windows.
Deleting the association with .JSP files in the control panel should remedy the problem.
If you can't delete it using the normal method (through control panel, folder options, File types), remove the association by editing the registry.
As soon as I deleted the association it worked fine again.
Changing the file associations within Netweaver itself didn't work as it seems to rely on the association in the Windows registry. To change your editor in Netweaver use Window > Preferences > Workbench > File Associations.
Hope this helps anyone who encounters the problem.

Deploy a Library with the NetWeaver Developer Studio 7.1

Hi All,
i would like to deploy a jar-file as a library on PI 7.1 with the NWDS 7.1.
It is different to 7.0.
I hope anyone can tell me how to do this..

Here is the process to deploy a Library project:
1.Defining Libraries:
     To define J2EE libraries in the SAP NetWeaver Developer Studio, you first create a corresponding Library project .Then you have to add all necessary JAR files or references to other J2EE Engine components.
2.Creating a Library Project:
     Choose File ® New ® Project.Follow the wizard to create a library project.The wizard generates an empty Library project. After the generation is completed, the J2EE perspective is opened automatically. The logical project structure is displayed in the J2EE Explorer and contains the two XML files: sda-dd.xml and provider.xml.
3.Adding JARs:
       1.      Choose the server/provider.xml node and choose Open from the context menu.The multipage editor opens in the right pane.
       2.      Choose the Jars tab.
       3.      Choose the Jars node followed by Add.
       4.      Select one or more JARs from your workspace and confirm by choosing OK.
4.Adding References:
       1.     Choose the server/provider.xml node and choose Open from the context menu.The multipage editor opens in the right pane.
       2.      Choose the References tab.
       3.      Choose the References node followed by Add.
       4.      You can either create a new reference or select an existing one.
5.Creating a Library Archive :
       1.     Select the library project node in the J2EE Explorer.
       2.      Open the context menu and choose Build Library Archive.
       3.      Choose OK to confirm
6.Deploying a Library Archive :
Prerequisites:·    The SDA file for the library project has been created successfully.
·        You have started the J2EE Engine on which the archive is to be deployed.
·        The settings in Window --> Preferences --> SAP J2EE Engine( SAP PI) are correct.
     Process:
       1.      In the J2EE Explorer, expand the library project node and select the relevant archive.
       2.      Open the context menu and choose Deploy to corresponding J2EE Engine.

Definition
The Enterprise Portal Unit Test Perspective is an extension of the PRT test framework that enables you to test portal applications in their real runtime environment and provides XML-based results. This allows you to test portal applications directly from the development environment.
Use
Using Enterprise Portal Unit Test Perspective you can:
·        Perform regression tests.
You can compare the test result with a reference test result. Note that a reference test result is a regular test result with no specific format.
·        The preferences of the perspective enable you to specify and save the configuration of the servers containing the tests and the name of the folder for the result, test suite and reference.
·        Compare the test result with the reference.
The output of the PRT test framework is XML-based.
·        Extract XML output on your computer as a test result.

Definition
The Unit Test Studio provides additional helper classes to help with coding more complex Test Cases. These helper classes are delivered in the unittest.facilities.jar part of the unittest.facilities.par portal application. The main class is com.sapportals.portal.prt.unittest.AbstractTestComponent. This class contains methods to facilitate the creation of new tests.
A new test must extend AbstractTestComponent class instead of extending AbstractPortalComponent and implementing ITestable. The AbstractTestComponent includes two inner classes:
·        TestResult
The class has attributes corresponding to a result: boolean and log.
·        TestResultSet
The class TestResultSet is a list of TestResult.
AbstractTestComponent allows another component to be called thanks to the invoke() method. The last parameter, a string, is the URI of the component.
The displayTestResultSet() method allows the list of a result to be displayed in the response. Each result is displayed as by the verify() method of the IPortalComponentTestResponse.

Is it possible to display the content of complex mutlidimensional datastructures (e.g. std::vectors (dim = 2) of (non-primitive) types) in Xcode debugger?

First, let me say that I like Xcode and coding in OS X. However, there is something I miss:

So, the above representation is what I would call bad (even useless).
The problem is that the current Linux Kernel (3.1.1) has some problems with the new MBA 2011 (which is really sad) so I can not show you the representation of a 2D-Vector in Qt-Creator for Linux right now (I'm not sure if the Qt-Creator for OS X could display the content properly, since I've never tried it). But you can believe me, that the represantation would look something like the one in Eclipse (which would be a good representation).
So my question: is there a "fix" for this?

You aren't going to find much help with C++ debugging. While Apple's Clang has made great improvements in C++ support compared to GCC, C++ is really not something that Mac or iOS programmers typically use. The Cocoa containers and objects are so much more versatile. You kind of have to have a masochist streak and a 7 year development schedule to use C++. C++ is experiencing a bit of a resurgence, especially in defense markets. For a long time, compilers had such poor support for C++ that it just wasn't possible. After simplifying the language a little, compilers can now compile and link C++. Consultants have realized they can provide C++ services and burn though billable hours better than any other language on the market. Independent developer, however, don't have those schedules and budgets so they tend to use NSArray. Xcode supports it better in the debugg and, chances are, you don't need to debug it anyway. There are a number of matrix classes built on Cocoa.
