• Getting the count of rows present in the oracle table

Hi all,
i want to get the total number of rows present in the sql table to the appmodule.
After applying the some view criteria to the view object. if it try with getallrowsinrange it was giving count of rows present in the viewobject but i want total number of rows present in the sql table.
How can i get that
I am using jdev 11.1.1.5
Thanks in advance

I threw something together, quick and dirty, feel free to optimize.
Assuming that you want the table count, I put the code into a EntityDefImpl subclass since this is what represents a table in the middle-tier.
public class EmpDefImpl
extends EntityDefImpl {
* This is the default constructor (do not remove).
public EmpDefImpl( ) {}
//~ Methods ****************************************************************************
public long getTableRowCount( DBTransaction transaction ) {
String query = getQuery( );
String countQuery = String.format( "SELECT COUNT(*) FROM (%s)", query );
long count = 0;
ViewObject vo = transaction.createViewObjectFromQueryStmt( countQuery );
try {
vo.executeQuery( );
Row row = vo.first( );
Number number = (Number)row.getAttribute( 0 );
count = number.longValue( );
} finally {
vo.remove( );
return count;
}Depending on your type map, you might not get a oracle.jbo.domain.Number, but something else, so the cast might need correction.
Usage example:
public class EmpEditViewImpl extends ViewObjectImpl {
public EmpEditViewImpl() {
protected void executeQueryForCollection( Object object, Object[] object2, int i ) {
super.executeQueryForCollection( object, object2, i );
EmpDefImpl def = ( EmpDefImpl )getEntityDef( 0 );
long tableRowCount = def.getTableRowCount( getDBTransaction() ) );
// Do something with it
}As you can see, the code is pretty generic. You might also be able to put this into an ADF extension base class.

Hi,
You cannot have subtotal for particular number of rows of ALV,
but if you want to get the total number of rows of the ALV data display
you can describe your final internal table from which the data is
getting displayed in ALV output and get it displayed in the header
or footer area of the ALV output.
For Eg:
DATA V_LINES TYPE I.
DESCRIBE TABLE IT_FINAL LINES V_LINES.
DATA: it_header TYPE slis_t_listheader,
wa_header TYPE slis_listheader.

wa_header-typ = 'S'.
wa_header-key = text-001.
wa_header-info = sy-repid.
APPEND wa_header TO it_header.
CLEAR wa_header.
wa_header-typ = 'S'.
wa_header-key = text-002.
wa_header-info = sy-uname.
APPEND wa_header TO it_header.
CLEAR wa_header.
wa_header-typ = 'S'.
wa_header-key = text-003.

APPEND wa_header TO it_header.
CLEAR wa_header.

• How to display more than 10 rows in an Auto Updating Report

I followed Carl Backstorm's example, http://htmldb.oracle.com/pls/otn/f?p=11933:40:525653462286833::NO:RP:: to create a page with an auto update report/region. It's working fine (thanks, Carl) but I can't have the report display all rows (38 rows in total). Everytime I press the "Manual Refresh" button, it shows 10 (the first 10) rows only.
When the report displays at the first time, it shows all the rows (38 rows). Number of Rows and Maximum Row Count are set to 999999 and "No Pagination Selected" in the report region. But after I press the "Manual Refresh" button or specifiy an update time value (like 1 second) to have it auto update, then it only display the first 10 rows.
Is there a way to display more than 10 rows in an Auto Updating Report using Carl's example auto update report/page? Anyone can help? Thank you.

Yes, I changed it to:
function table_object(pId){
this.id = pId;
this.start_record = 1;          //optional
this.num_record = 50; //optional
this.num_record2 = 50;          //optional
I don't quite understand how these vaiables are used for though. Thanks.

• Count of Rows Displayed after Filter Applied

Hi,
I have a WebI report where I am manually filtering the data displayed within the report based on user input. For example, a user enters a Max Value and I am filtering out all employees who have a total value (mulitple rows summed up) greater than the prompt value.
The issue I am facing is displaying a row count at the top of the report in a free-standing cell. Normally I would simply use count(Field;All) but since the number of rows returned by the query is different from the number of rows actually displayed in the table, this option isn't available.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
Jeff

Hi Jeff,
Try creating a formula in the cell, or a variable with a "Where" clause and add the correct context, using "In" or "ForEach". Or you may be able to do it in the formula in the cell. Or you may need to use the "UserResponse" function, depending on what you are trying to do.
Thanks

• Display total cost in interactive report

Hello,
I have created one interactive report, on which i have applied control break on one of the column say department.
there is one column on my report which is showing price,
so,I want to add one more row at the bottom of report showing total of of the prices.
for ex.
Department type : Sales
ID----------NAME-----------SAL------------ DEPT
1--------------A------------- 100--------------10
1--------------B------------- 300--------------12
Department type : Marketing
ID----------NAME-----------SAL------------ DEPT
1--------------C------------- 100--------------10
Total-------------------------400
Apex Version : 4.1
Database : 11g
Thanks in advance
Jitendra

Hi,
How do I rename the label on the break total function?
For ex, If I use break total(sum) function, it displays Total (Column Name). How do I get rid of the Total keyword in the Interactive Reporting?
Please help.
Thanks.

• Limiting rows displayed from user-selection on dashboard prompt

Hi,
I'm looking for a way to limit the number of rows displayed after a user has made a selection using a dashboard prompt. Here is my scenario:
User selects 24 periods of data using an 'In Between' dashboard prompt (i.e. Jan05-Dec06). 24 rows are returned by the query but I only want to show the last 12 rows (Jan06-Dec06).
Motivation is that I'm using the MSUM function to display a 12-month moving sum total and I don't want to display the first 12 rows as they do not contain a complete moving sum total.
I've looked at using a variable to store the user selection at the dashboard prompt, but the 'In Between' dashboard prompt does not allow one to store a result in a variable.
Any suggestions are welcome!
Thanks!

Hi Som,
Thanks again for your feedback. I've thought about using dynamic repository variables, but found them not to be the answer. Although the moving sum would always be a 12 month total, the user needs to be able to vary the range of periods using the dashboard prompt. Today he might only want to look back 12 months, tomorrow he may need a 5 year overview. Using dynamic repository variables would mean I'd have to create variables for the entire history i.e. CM until CM - 240 (20 years * 12 months). If a user then would like to report on a specific period, he would need to pick the correct dynamic variables, which would not be user friendly/acceptable.
I think I may need to resolve this problem in my datamart by calculating & storing a 12 month total (the only 'fixed' requirement of the report) in my fact table. This would also remove the need for the user to select 12 months more that he would see in his report (a drawback of my original scenario above).
Thanks again for your input!

Dutch

• Rows displayed in Answers result, question?

The current format for the records displayed is "Records 1-25" etc.
Is there a way to modify this format, to perhaps "Displaying Records 1-25 of 99"?
My customer would like to see the total number of records available selecting next page or all records.
Thanks,
Mark

Currently, the only way to do this is to modify the implementing java scripts. But you can use the approach here http://oraclebizint.wordpress.com/2008/01/23/oracle-bi-ee-101332-total-number-of-rows-and-pagination/ to show the total number of records.
Thanks,

• How to set the number of rows displayed in a classical report at runtime?

Hi,
Our customer has several standard client hardware configuration and would like to enable end users to choose their 'display profile' at login time. This 'display profile' would contain predefined values for these hardware configurations and supposed to set various paramters that should define the number of rows displayed in a classical report region.
I tried to provide parameters on the report region but it refused to accept anything but numerical values. Is it possible to do this?
Regards, Tamas

The link is to the closest linkable point in the documentation to the description of the Number of Rows (Item) attribute.
It sounds like you have been trying to enter—unsuccessfully—an item name or substitution string into the Number of Rows attribute. The Number of Rows (Item) attribute is the one that actually allows you to do this. Click on the flashlight icon beside it to get a list of items from the application.

Userrecordid     Board_codes     Board_Number
m001     KBIM     A1234
m001     PBIM     B1234
m002     PBIM     Dytu1
m003     PBIM     io34...
I need to display the above results in one row shown as below:
KBIM (Y/N)     KBIM #     PBIM (Y/N)     PBIM #
Y     A1234     Y     B1234
So you don't want anything in the results about userrecordids 'm002' and 'm003', because they do not have both board_codes 'KBIM' and 'PBIM', is that it?
One way to get those results is a self-join, as if all the rows with borad_code 'KBIM' were in one table, and all the rows with borad_code 'PBIM' were in another:
SELECT     'Y'          AS "KBIM (Y/N)"
,     k.boradnumber     AS "KBIM #"
,     'Y'          AS "PBIM (Y/N)"
,     k.boradnumber     AS "KBIM #"
FROM     boards     k
JOIN     boards     p     ON     k.userrecordid     = p.usrrecordid
WHERE     k.board_codes     = 'KBIM'
AND     p.board_codes     = 'PBIM'
;Another way is a GROUP BY, like Mpautom suggested.
If your requirements change in the future, so that you need to include all rows, even if they don't have both board_codes, then you could change the JOIN to a FULL OUTER JOIN and make what I wrote as the WHERE clause part of the join condition, but I suspect the GROUP BY approach would be more efficient in that case.
