Displaying HTTPService returned data in a dataGrid

Hello! im new to flex and i have a question that i am hoping
someone can answer. I have a flex app that i am building that needs
to display a list of dynamic images, preferably with icons. I've
built the Title list, but i don't know how to connect the
HTTPService data to the list. the HTTPService is returning XML
data, so it must be easy. but, as i said, Im really new. Please
Help Me!!

I know by a parameter that the HTTPService sends back to me
that contains the image URL. However, the image URL is not in the
source folder in the app. It is located at a remote location, so
the url takes the form of "
http://www.test.net/09/image.jpg".
Maybe i am formatting the image wrong, because I am still getting
no result in the data grid. This is what i am getting back from the
HTTPService:
<images>
<image>
<image_name></image_name>
<image_url></image_url>
<keywords></keywords>
</image>
</images>
and this is my data grid:
<mx:DataGrid x="10" y="10" width="640" height="140"
dataProvider="{imageReturn.lastResult.images}"
id="communityImages">
<mx:columns>
<mx:DataGridColumn headerText="Image" >
<mx:itemRenderer>
<mx:Component>
<mx:Image source="{image.image_url}"/>
</mx:Component>
</mx:itemRenderer>
</mx:DataGridColumn>
<mx:DataGridColumn headerText="Name"
dataField="{image.image_name}"/>
<mx:DataGridColumn headerText="Keywords"
dataField="{image.keywords}" visible="false" />
</mx:columns>
</mx:DataGrid>
maybe I'm formatting it wrong. I'm not sure. Help Me with
this and my problems will be solved.

  • Using same returned data to create datagrid and pie graph

    I am trying to find a good example or information on creating
    charts, initially pie graphs. I will be getting the data from a
    MySQL DB via a HTTPService call to a PHP script. I would like to
    use the same HTTPService call to make a datagrid and build a pie
    graph. My datagrid is working fine.
    All of the examples I have found show the app with an
    internal data source that's hard coded into an array (
    http://livedocs.adobe.com/flex/2/docs/wwhelp/wwhimpl/common/html/wwhelp.htm?context=LiveDo cs_Parts&file=00001234.html).
    I did search this forum, but it seems most people are just looking
    for dynamic pie graphs and there isn't enough in the entries for me
    to go off of.
    The data returned to the MXML app looks like this:
    <auditdata>
    <riskdata>
    <core>core number here</core>
    <subcore>subcore number here</subcore>
    <mdata>mdata here</mdata>
    <risk1>number here</risk1>
    <risk2>number here</risk2>
    <risk3>number here</risk3>
    </riskdata>
    <riskdata>
    <core>core number here</core>
    <subcore>subcore number here</subcore>
    <mdata>mdata here</mdata>
    <risk1>number here</risk1>
    <risk2>number here</risk2>
    <risk3>number here</risk3>
    </riskdata>
    </auditdata>
    When the data is returned, everything under <riskdata>
    is put into a datagrid. What I'm looking to do in the pie graph is
    this.
    Create a 2 different pie graphs for each riskdata (there will
    only be 2). The first pie graph will be of the three "risks" (where
    their total number equals 100% of the graph). The second pie graph
    would be "core - subcore" and risk1 (where the two values total
    equals 100%of the graph). I hope that makes sense.
    Any guidance would be truly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Chris

    Does anyone have any ideas on this?
    Thanks,
    Chris

  • Return Data from query, but not in datagrid.

    Using Flex Builder 2 and ColdFusion, does anyone have advice
    or examples of running a query to database and returning the
    results for display in something other than datagrid? I need more
    control over where my returned data is displaying on my
    forms.

    Hi!
    By using HTTPService class (see
    http://livedocs.adobe.com/flex/201/langref/mx/rpc/http/mxml/HTTPService.html)
    you can execute a db query script which will send the data to flex.
    The data can be any of object|array|xml|e4x|flashvars|text formats.
    You can them handle it however you want to populate whatever
    flex objet.
    Does this help ?

  • How to use global classes and display returned data?

    Hello experts,

  • Answers report displaying 0s even though SQL returns data from sqlplus

    OBIEE 10.1.3.3.3
    I created a few measures in the RPD and when I run a report against them I get all zeros. I pulled the query from the session log and I ran it from SQL Plus and found that the query generated by BI Server was actually returning data (numbers other than zeros) from the SQL plus prompt.
    However for some reason those numbers are not being displayed in Answers.
    The report is a simple one with name and count as 2 columns. The count column is showing all zeros.
    When I put a filter on the report on the name column, i do get a record without the zero.
    Can someone let me know if I am missing something ?
    Edited by: qqq on Sep 9, 2009 9:50 AM

    I dont think so i understood the problem.
    Can you copy paste the query here so we would understand the problem and exactly whats going wrong?
    You are saying count column.count() of what are you taking??And whats the filter your applying??

  • How to view the returned data from a stored procedure in TOAD?

    Hi,
    I created ref cursor in the stored procedure to return data. The stored procedure works fine, just want to view the result in TOAD. The BEGIN... EXEC... END can execute the stored procedure, but how to make the result display?
    Thanks!

    Right click the editor and choose
    "Prompt For Substitution Variables".
    Run for example the following code:
    DECLARE
    PROCEDURE p (cur OUT sys_refcursor)
    AS
    BEGIN
    OPEN cur FOR
    SELECT *
    FROM DUAL;
    END p;
    BEGIN
    p (:cur);
    END;
    The result will display in Toad's Data Grid!

  • Data not submitting when I have a conditional display on a date field

    Hello all,
    Could someone please help me with the following issue?
    I have created an updateable report region with four updateable fields. 3 of the fields store a number values and the fourth stores a date value.
    Each updateable report item has a conditional display, and whether they are displayed or not is controlled by the end user using a radio group (with submit). This provides the user with three options.
    If I remove all conditional displays all data will commit to the database without any problems. If I apply the conditional display to the number fields only, again the data will commit as normal. However, as soon as I add a conditional display to the date field it all goes pair shaped. The data will then cease to commit, with no error message at all. Once I remove the conditional display normal service is resumed.
    I'm certainly an APEX novice at the moment, so I wondered if anyone could shed some light on this.
    Thanks in advance for your help
    Steve

    Stew,
    Basically, I have edited each applicable report field column attributes, via the report attributes tab, and selected a conditional display 'Value of item in Expression 1 = Expression 2' for all of them.
    In the same report region I have created a radiogoup with submit called p51_update_type, specifying three static return values; R, F and S
    Condition e.g.
    *"Expression 1"*
    p51_update_type
    *"Expression 2"*
    S
    All columns display as expected, and commits to the database are normal, that is until I apply a conditional display to the date field (which relates to a table column of type DATE in the database).
    Thanks
    Steve

  • Display image into Data Grid

    Hello,
    I have to display into a data grid, in Flex 2, 2 columns:
    first column ( "Images") must contain a picture with an object and
    second column (" quantity") must contain the amount of that object
    that I want to buy. The problem is that I must take the name of the
    image from an .xml file, specified like this:
    <mx:DataGrid id="obj" dataProvider="{ObjList}" > where
    ObjList is the .xml file with <name/>
    <picture_address/> etc.
    The second column must contain a textbox so I can input a
    number of items for each picture ( can be also a combobox where
    from I can select some value, from 1 to 20 for example).
    I've searched the Internet and I haven't found a solution
    yet. Please give me a link or a solution for this problem.
    Tudor

    use itemrenderes.... the example below shows how to add an
    image.... you can do the same thing with a text box or combo box
    <mx:DataGridColumn width="10" headerText="Image">
    <mx:itemRenderer>
    <mx:Component>
    <mx:Canvas width="100%" height="100%">
    <mx:Image verticalCenter="0" horizontalCenter="0"
    source="{data.picture_adress}""/>
    </mx:Canvas>
    </mx:Component>
    </mx:itemRenderer>

  • Data display - aligning group data and carry over on new page logic - 11G

    I am fairly new to BI Publisher, so any help would be much appreciated. I am working with a standard pdf form to display Purchase Order Data. I have saved the image of the pdf as the background of the page. I have a simple table where I am inserting all the data and aligning it on the page so it appears to be in the correct place on the form.
    The form has a section containing 10 blank lines to display the PO data. Each line is .25 inches.
    The problem occurs that at the line description can have 254 characters but the space on the line allows for 51 characters. So I need to display the data something like this (for simplicity sake)
    TableA.id TableA.Description254
    Line 1 1 Blah, 1-51 characters of line descr
    Line 2 Blah blah, 52 - 102 characters
    Line 3 2 Blah, 1-51 characters of line descr
    Line 4 3 Blah, 1-51 characters of line descr
    Line 5 Blah blah, 52 - 102 characters
    Line 6 Blah blah, 103 - 153 characters
    anything that carries over needs to go to a second page with a different background image. So I have several questions.
    1. Any suggestions on how to display the PO Line, so I can substring the PO line description and display the remaining data on a following line? A second line would write the next 51 characters of data if it exists, and would not display the first column, (TableA.Id)
    2. Any suggestions on how to load the carry over data (anything over the 10 lines on the first page) and display on the following page.
    I am including a screen shot so this might make more sense. I have lightly dashed orange lines showing of my table which I use for aligning the data. It is only for reference.
    [ http://www.fifthq.com/bi.jpg|Pdf image]
    http://www.fifthq.com/bi.jpg

    Ok, just in case anyone runs into the same issue. Here was my solution.
    I added a made up record to the existing xsd template that served as a place holder for my dynamic content.
    I created an app package that has two properties.
    1. Full String
    2. Single Line String
    The Method takes in the column width as a parameter. It searches through the Full String until it finds the last available word before the column width. It then returns that as the Single Line String and updates the Full String to what's remaining.
    If I have any of the Full String remaining I keep calling the method.
    I can provide more specific details about the method if anyone needs it.

  • Crystal Report 9 - Can't Display UTF-8 Data

    Dear Sir,
    I am using PHP with Crystal Report 9.2 and has problem displaying UTF-8 data from MSSQL field. It shows weird characters instead. I am very sure the data stored in database is in UTF-8 because when I ouput it into the web browser with encoding as UTF-8, it shows correctly. Currently is using ADODB recordset to pass data into CR. I tried using ODBC to connect directly to database and preview the data - same issue.
    Now I wonder whether are there any settings need to be done in CR in order to display unicode correctly? From what I read, CR 9 and above should be able to support unicode.
    Thanks
    AL

    To be honest, I have no idea if TTX files supported UTF-8... I kinda doubt it. I'd check, but the only person I knwo of that may have a clue is not in until September 28...
    Re. ODBC, see if adding the following option to your DSN entry in the odbc.ini file will help:
    stmt = SET CHARACTER SET utf8
    Also, if I remember right, MS SQL does not install UTF-8 support by default (at least at one time or another it did not...(?).
    Oh - one more thing. I've attached a non CR app that I'd like you to use to see what the data it returns looks like. Please give that a try.

  • Query in ASWE XML code doesn't return data

    Hello, since people on the Oracle Metalink site are to lazy to give an answer to this question. I'll try it via this forum. Here we go:
    I'm developing wireless applications running on Oracle9i Application Server Wireless Edition. I'v tried to implement the employee sample from Oracle Online Mobile Studio (studio.oraclemobile.com). The sample name is employee.jsp. This sample combines XML code with JSP.
    (code at the end of the text)
    When I test the sample I get no query results.
    When you take the first option for example, (search by dept number) the query result will not be displayed. I think it has something to do with the "executeQuery" line.
    rset = stmt.executeQuery("select * from EMP where EMPNO='" + empNum + "'");
    After giving the following input (employeenumber) 7369 (which excists in the
    database). I get the following errors:

    Does this have something to do with the encoding of the query result in the select statement? As you can see the variable is in the requeststring (URL = http://host/portal/test/employee.jsp?&empNum=7369)
    My database connection works fine (I've also tested the query using SQL plus and the SQL adapter also works).
    Is this the right statement?: ("select * from EMP where EMPNO='" + empNum + "'");
    I can not do anything with the error in the jserv.log (java.sql.SQLException: Invalid column name).
    The columnname EMPNO excists in the example table. The query in SQL plus gives a result.
    Can someone give my any suggestions?
    Thanks in advance.

    Is EMPNO really a string field and not a numeric field? Your query is like
    ... where EMPNO='1949'
    and should it perhaps be
    ... where EMPNO=1949
    ?

  • How can servlet return data as download file from browser ? !!! URGENT !!!

    My servlet query data from database and would like to return the data as text file.
    How can I return data to the browser as user click a file to download ?
    How can I set the file name ? (default name is the servlet name that I don't want it to be)
    Which content type should I return to browser to prevent browser to display data immediately but save instead ?
    Thank you very much !

    I am having the same issue. Did you ever discover a way to change the "file name" in the browser. I've tried changing numerous HTTP header fields, to no avail.

  • How to display the return message in popup window

    Hi Experts,
    In WDA i want to display the return message through popup window.
    Regards,
    M.Chella Meenal.

    hi Chella Meenal ,
    you can generate the popup using popup factory class also , look at the below sample code for displaying message in a popup , and you can do your own configurating like visible , enable the buttons you want ..
    data:
        lr_component type ref to if_wd_component,
        ls_conf type wdr_popup_to_confirm,
        lt_texts     type string_table.
      ls_conf-window_position = '1'.
      ls_conf-button_1-text = 'OK'.
      ls_conf-button_1-icon = 'ICON_OKAY'.
      ls_conf-button_1-enabled = 'X'.
      ls_conf-button_1-visible = CL_WD_UIELEMENT=>E_VISIBLE-VISIBLE.
      ls_conf-button_2-visible = CL_WD_UIELEMENT=>E_VISIBLE-NONE.
      ls_conf-button_cancel-visible = CL_WD_UIELEMENT=>E_VISIBLE-NONE.
      lr_component = wd_comp_controller->wd_get_api( ).
      append 'some text' to lt_texts.
      cl_wd_popup_factory=>popup_to_confirm(
          component        = lr_component
          text             = lt_texts
          CONFIGURATION    = ls_conf
          window_title     = 'some title' ).

  • Return data from spark list itemrenderer

    Does anybody no how to return data from the itemrender for a spark list. say i had a checkbx in my itemrenderer how can I get that info back to my main component if its selected or not. I looked at datagrid and itemeditor but I really rather use a spark list. Thanks

    thanks I also found another way to doing it. A click handler on my list when that fires I can check if checkbx has been selected by doing event.target.document.mycheckBx.selected this will not work if using currentTarget cause it take the info from the itemRenderer. Now I understand the difference between currentTarget and target.
    not sure if this is a better way to access the data I think I might still just dispatch a event and do it your way.
    Its weird that mx:list has a editItemRenderer  and s:list does not
    thanks again TK
