Crystal Report 9 - Can't Display UTF-8 Data

Dear Sir,
I am using PHP with Crystal Report 9.2 and has problem displaying UTF-8 data from MSSQL field. It shows weird characters instead. I am very sure the data stored in database is in UTF-8 because when I ouput it into the web browser with encoding as UTF-8, it shows correctly. Currently is using ADODB recordset to pass data into CR. I tried using ODBC to connect directly to database and preview the data - same issue.
Now I wonder whether are there any settings need to be done in CR in order to display unicode correctly? From what I read, CR 9 and above should be able to support unicode.

To be honest, I have no idea if TTX files supported UTF-8... I kinda doubt it. I'd check, but the only person I knwo of that may have a clue is not in until September 28...
Re. ODBC, see if adding the following option to your DSN entry in the odbc.ini file will help:
stmt = SET CHARACTER SET utf8
Also, if I remember right, MS SQL does not install UTF-8 support by default (at least at one time or another it did not...(?).
Oh - one more thing. I've attached a non CR app that I'd like you to use to see what the data it returns looks like. Please give that a try.

Note the error is re. 'System.Web.Extensions' which is a Microsoft framework dll. I would suggest:
1) repair of the .NET installation
2) update the framework with the latest SP
3) see if you can crate a new app - without Crystal Reports using the 'System.Web.Extensions' assembly
4) see if you can create a new app using Crystal Reports (One line app using saved data report will do; crystalreportviewer1.reportsource = <path>)
5) Download the latest CR SP. As you don not mention what version of CR you are using, see if you can find the SP in our downloads section:

I don't know how CR for Visual Studio will integrate into WinDev but to get the installer for VS 2010/2012/2013 go to this page:

It's the runtime for CR 2011 or 2013 now.
As for SQL 2008 you need to install the Client tools and when creating reports use the SQLNCLI10.dll as the client DB driver for ODBC or OLE DB.

Hi Sam,
You can do this. Go to Live office and goto to the "Properties for all objects" and select the refresh tab.
Select the option as "Latest Instance" for refresh option and then save the Excel sheet and re-import into Xcelsius.
This would refresh the data from the latest instance of Crystal report.

Crystal Report can only retrieve 1 row of data

We are using the following configuration:
- Microsoft Windows 2003 Server R2 for x64
- Microsoft .Net Framework 3.0 for x64
- Oracle Client 10g 10.2.0 for x64, which inlcudes Oracle Provider for OLE DB 10.2.0.2.21
- Crystal Report 10 redistributable for x64, from Visual Studio 2005
With that configuration, each time we run a report in ASP.Net, we can only retrieve 1 row of data, even though the data is more than that. We have no issue running the same report in 32 bit (same configuration as above, but 32bit).
For the meantime, we use ODBC connection, and it runs well. But, ODBC is slow and since the system that we build is still under heavy testing, if any problem occurs during report generation, it locks up other reports and we have to restart the IIS. So, ODBC connection is definitely a no-no.
Please help.

Crystal reports 11: Values displayed in crystal report not showing in VB6

Hi!
I updated an existing lower version of crystal report 7 to crystal report 11. Changes are the following:
1. sql query in VB6 to add fields
2. sql query in crystal report to manipulate values and not use formula. crx11 doesn't allow summary/total in formula fields.
3. report orientation
4. additional fields to view
5. font sizes, length, can grow properties, etc.
When I tested it directly in crx 11, all fields/values are displaying correctly. When I integrated it in VB 6 using Crystal ActiveX Report Viewer Library 11.0 and CR Viewer object, the field is blank.
I've tried several checking like field suppressions, conditional suppressions, etc.
By the way, I also have a report using a subrepot with conditional suppressions. Same thing is happening. The subreport data only displays the alloted space but does not show values in VB6.

Thanks for your response.
Before I read your response, I tried tweaking my reports and was able to resolve the issue.
Steps taken to solve the issue are the following:
a. Value not showing one field of four (4) reports.
Solution: I created new ones and integrate it in VB 6. The values are now showing. Tweaked on the line object properties, got a problem with the extended line but solved it by adjusting the height of the detail section.
b. Value not showing in sub-report.
Solution: My report used a shared variable so I can pass the condition to my sub-report. I used the new reports and just pass a query during runtime. The values in the subreport is still not showing. I added a formula and called the value in it. Values in the subreport is now showing.
I'll try to update the crystal reports version as suggested at a later time.

Problem in Exporting Crystal Report to MS-Excel 97-2000(data only)

I have developed a crystal report using VS 2008 which has 12 columns, my question is when i export the report to MS Excel 97-2000 (data only) the report gets exported completely but some columns header names are missing i mean out of 12 column header names only 6 are getting displayed, kindly help me out.

Hi Ramakrishna,
When you export any report in data only format, all the formatting which has been applied to report fields will be lost.
If you want the formatting as well then in export option check the box "Maintian object formatting".
Or else you can export to MS EXCEL 97-2000 which will maintain all the formatting.

M struggling to display multiple lines in line chart. All the values m fetching it from database into data table in below format & data type

M using cross tab to display data and chart to plot line. Following fields I used in Cross tab Expert & Chart expert
Cross tab expert-
Rows u2013 category
Columns u2013 year
Summarized fields u2013 Min of table_value
In Chart Expert u2013
On Change of - Year
Show values - graph values
In cross tab m able to see the data properly but not in graph.I have three categories. Hence it should plot three lines in line chart but m able to see only one line for test category.
FYI u2013 using VS 2008 and crystal report assembly version 10.5

Crystal reports converting varchar 254 to memo data type

Hi All,
We are still using Seagate Crystal Reports 7.5 for some of our reporting. I have a problem that hopefully someone can help with. One of our connections is to ODBC- AR System ODBC Data Source.
In that data source there are fields defined as varchar 254 (confirmed by DBA),
But Seagate is calling them memo fields- which is causing problems since you canu2019t use memos in selection criteria or formulas.
This happened after the field names were renamed. I noticed when the newly named fields were not showing as an option to map the old name fields to- because by default it looks for same data type, after unchecking same data type option the fields showed for mapping but wrong data type makes them useless. I canu2019t even convert them to string with formula field.
Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Hi,
Yup, this was a problem with versions prior to 10. If a field was longer than 254 characters, Crystal handled them like Memos and you cannot use them in formulas.
The only suggestion I can offer would be to upgrade. Crystal can now use memos in formulas and no longer has a 254 character limit on strings. So your charcter fields will remain as charater and not changed to Memos.

Crystal Reports can't add stored procedure using Oracle Provider for OLE DB

Hello,
I am trying to bind an oracle stored procedure to a crystal report through Visual Studio 2008.
This oracle stored procedure returns a ref cursor.
I am using an oracle 11g database (11.2.0.2.0) .
When I use the Oracle Provider For OLE DB driver to bind the store procedure with the report, I get the following error message:
Description : ORA -06550 Line 1 Column 7
PLS 00306 wrong number of types or arguments to the "Strored Procedure Name"
But When I use the Microsoft OLE DB provider for oracle driver, I can bind the stored procedure to the report successfully .
I cannot use the Microsoft OLE DB provider for oracle driver because it does not support the CLOB data type which I plan on having the stored procedure return once I can get everything working.
I have tried setting PLSQLRSET = 1 IN "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\KEY_OraDb11g_home1\OLEDB", but that does not seem to work either
Any assistance would be greatly Appreciated

Crystal Report can't add Currency field when connect to SAP Infosets.

Everything is fine except I add a "Currency" field into report. Three errors returned.
Fail to retrieve data from database -> Database connector error :'Syntax error in program SAPLHRPADINA1' -> Database connector Error: 'RFC_CLOSED'
