    Search this forum for "new window". You should find it. Try:

  • How do I display search results in a new window?

    Our current search feature (http://mainedreamvacation.businesscatalyst.com/business-search) displays the search results in the same page. When someone clicks to see the details page, the goes "back" the browser displays an alert asking the user if they want to re-submit the form.
    Is there a way for the search results to display in a new window? My hope is that by loading results into a new window, a user could click to see the detail, then return without the alert message.
    I'm open to simply suppressing the alert message, but I don't think that's possible.
    I should point out that this is NOT a site search. Also, I have tried  {module_webappsresults,,_blank} without success.
    Thanks!

    Hi Tim,
    The approach would be similar to customizing this for normal site search.
    You'll need to locate the page where you inserted the web app search access the html and locate the pageID in the form action.  Use the same method found in the site search to apply the specific page.
    - http://helpx.adobe.com/business-catalyst/partner/add-search-form.html> Point to the results page
    **Ensure you please the {module_webappsresults} on the custom page to have the content display as well.
    Kind regards,

  • It is necessary for me to have more than one window open in Firefox, and the command (New Window) no longer works. How do I have two different websites open at the same time on separate displays?

    I used to be able to open two Firefox windows at a time, with one website on one display and another website on another display. Now when I select New Window, nothing happens.

    You can tear off a tab (right-click: Move to New Window) to open it in another window and resize both windows so you see them at the same time.

    I found a solution after much troubleshooting including uninstalling/reinstalling Office 2010 which didn't solve the issue.
    Here it is:
    When Outlook or some other Office program is minimized in the taskbar and won't open, right click the taskbar to bring up task manager.
    Right click the program in the task manager list that is giving trouble and click Maximize.  You should now see a full screen.
    This worked for me and solved the "open and stays minimized" delima.  Hope this helps you too.  Cheers :)
    Thanks a bunch this saved me a potential headache!

  • How to get generated HTML file to display in new window from FileDownloadActionListener?

    Hi,
    I am using Jdeveloper version 11.1.1.5.
    I have a use case where the user can produce a report upon the click of a command button. They can generate 3 types of reports, HTML, PDF or Excel depending on which option they select in the radio buttons preceding the 'generate report' command button.
    The files are created in the background (XML file created based on View Objects which is then transformed using the relevant API for the report type and then produces a file which is held in servers temp directory) and is served out through a FileDownloadActionListener component programmatically, which itself is surrounded by a Command Link with visibility property set to 'false' (as per this blog:http://www.jobinesh.com/2010/01/customizing-execution-of-to-validate.html).
    Everything works fine in that the reports generate correctly and after clicking on the 'generate report' button the browser's 'Open/Save' dialog box appears asking the user what they would like to do with the file. I am using Internet Explorer as that is what most of the client users will be using.
    The issue I'm having is as follows. For PDF and Excel types when the user clicks on 'Open' the file opens in separate Adobe Reader or MS Excel application windows respectively, which is as expected and required. However, the HTML document opens within the same browser window within which the application is running and from where the 'generate report' button was clicked. The issues this presents is that if the user closes the browser window displaying the report then they will need to open a new window to re-establish connection to the application. If they click the browser 'back' button then it takes them back to the original page but not in exactly the same state as it was before the report was launched i.e. there are some components missing and the page doesn't display correctly.
    Is there another way for me to achieve this or is it even possible? I tried setting the 'useWindow' property of the invisible command link surrounding the FileDownloadActionListener to 'true' which didn't work. I tried to surround it with a Go Link instead of a command link but that gave me NullPointerException's, I think because you can only use a component which has an 'Action' property?
    I appreciate your assistance as always.

    Hi,
      I'm not sure if this solution is appropriate to your situation, but I had the same problem with trying to redirect from a commandLink to a new window.  In the method that is called by the links action I used the following:
    // Open the url in a separate browser window
    ExtendedRenderKitService erks =
      Service.getRenderKitService(fctx, ExtendedRenderKitService.class);
    StringBuilder script = new StringBuilder();
    script.append("window.open('" + url + "', '', '');");
    erks.addScript(FacesContext.getCurrentInstance(), script.toString());

  • Display PDF files in a NEW window

    hi there
    i offer PDF files to download on most of my webpages. example: http://www.khanomTOPproperty.com/khanomTOPproperty.com/northofkhanom.html
    i would like them to load in the browser first (not automatically download), but in a NEW WINDOW, and then give the visitor the option to download it (which is the easy part of it).
    even if i don't focus on opening in a new window (which is what i have now online, to make it available at last) the problem is that not all browsers display the file. some download it immediately. it took me quite a while to find out how different browsers handle it, and since it is very different i made a "browser ABC" help page on my site, explaining the different behaviors of browsers (http://www.khanomTOPproperty.com/khanomTOPproperty.com/browser_help.html). safari is great as usual and displays the file, so one can downoad it then (or not), but google chrome (and others) immediately download them without displaying them. by the way, i did NOT zip the files.
    so, how to make it sure that the files are displayed (not directly downloaded) in every browser, and, as mentioned above, i would love to have it in a NEW WINDOW( or tab, but better window), to make it easy to go back to the previous page without having to reload.
    and yes, i too think ISSUU is great in terms of display, i tried it but immediately forgot it when i found out that the visitor has to log in first (actually become a member of ISSUU) before being able to download - and i don't want to force my visitors to such things - the same way i will never have any advertisement on any of my pages - i don't want to make visitors angry...
    thanks again, i know - lots of questions, but the result of a few weeks iWeb work, and i did not find the answers in the forum yet.
    george

    hi wyodor
    oh wow, you answer almost faster than i can ask - that's what i call turbo.
    sounds very simple, and i tried it. the problem is that it is not so easy to make this link. i tried to find one of the several PDF files i have to make a test, but even this was not so easy. in cPanel i have a window which pops up when i open the file manager. it gives the option to access through
    a) home directory
    b) web root (public_html/www)
    c) public FTP root (public-ftp)
    d) document root for:
    (and then the domain names)
    which one is the right one to enter if i want to go to my PDF files? yes, OK, not an iWeb question, but maybe you can...
    anyway. i managed somehow to get to the PDF files. to my surprise i have seen that each file is there not only one time, but twice (the second time with a "_1"PDF. any idea what happened there? i only need one, do i?
    OK. so i found one, localized it but still can not get the link for it. the only link i find (in the browser address bar) is the FOLDER where the PDF files are located. i don't think this will do it, as i guess i have to specify the file exactly, otherwise how can iWeb know which file i want?
    how can i get a link to this file?
    additional question: whenever i update my website, will this path be remembered? i guess so.
    practically this means i will (should i be successfull and be able to create a link to these files) have to upload the PDF files BEFORE i can create the link in iWeb, Yes?
    you see, i am really a professional (...) - if i would i would probably switch to the other side and help greenhorns like me in the forum.
    by the way - are aou working for apple or is this just some sort of hobby?
    thanks again and warm regards

  • I have two monitors on my Mac. Running FF3.6.16 new windows now want to open on the wrong monitor. How do I get FF to open on the main display?

    I have an eMac with a second display. I am running OS X 10.4.11 (Tiger) and Firefox 3.6.16. Everything was working fine until the other day I opened a second window in Firefox and dragged it to my secnd monitor. I later closed it. Since then all New Window requests, including when starting Firefox always open on the second monitor. How do I tell Firefox I want my main monitor has the primary monitor?

    It has nothing to do with the Mac, but more with the software exporting the displays on the PC.  A typical VNC server will generally only export the primary monitor.
    What PC software are you using to export the display(s), and what Mac software are you using to view the PC displays?  That may help someone come up with a workable solution for you (or not ).

  • Moving tabs from one window to another makes the new window vanish. I have hot corners enabled so when I move up to the right corner of my display I can see all my open windows but when I click on the tab that I moved to make it its own window it vanishes

    Moving tabs from one window to another makes the new window vanish. I have hot corners enabled so when I move up to the right corner of my display I can see all my open windows but when I click on the tab that I moved to make it its own window it vanishes

    I came up with an alternative solution.
    Instead of actually trying to move the JInternalFrame from one JDesktopPane to another, I added a single, maximized JInternalFrame to the left side. When one of the right side frames is to be docked, I merely copy its ContentPane to the single JInternalFrame on the left, set the original to be non-visible, and adjust the properties of the JSplitPane to make the "docked" frame appear.
    When the "close" button on the docked frame is pressed, I simply undo this procedure to "undock" the frame and redisplay it on the right-hand side (with its content intact from the docked frame, but in its original position).

  • Problem displaying PDF file in new window.

    Using NetBeans 6.5, Internet Explorer 7.
    I am using the code example from BalusC at the site:
    http://balusc.blogspot.com/2006/05/pdf-handling.html
    I am having no problem reading and displaying the PDF file, but it displays it in the same window,
    not a new window and it overwrites the current page, so I can't use the back arrow to fetch the page that is overwritten.
    I am using a commandLink to fetch the file.
    Does anyone know why I am not getting a new window or tab for the display?
    The jsp portion for the link is:
    <h:commandLink action="#{MainPage.linkAction3_action}" id="linkAction3"
              style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif; font-size: 12px; font-weight: bold; left: 280px; top: 0px; position: absolute"
              target="_blank" value="Insurance Document"/>The "MainPage.linkAction_action" method just makes a call to the display function:
        public String linkAction3_action() {
            sb1.setMessage("");
            dsb.setFilePath("C:/");
            dsb.setFileName("Insurance_Summary.pdf");
            dsb.downloadPDF();
            return null;
        }And the downloadPDF() method is basically a cut and paste from the BalusC site;
        public void downloadPDF()
            // Reference:   http://balusc.blogspot.com/2006/05/pdf-handling.html
            // Prepare.
            FacesContext facesContext = FacesContext.getCurrentInstance();
            ExternalContext externalContext = facesContext.getExternalContext();
            HttpServletResponse response = (HttpServletResponse) externalContext.getResponse();
            File file = new File(getFilePath(), getFileName());
            BufferedInputStream input = null;
            BufferedOutputStream output = null;
            try {
                // Open file.
                input = new BufferedInputStream(new FileInputStream(file), DEFAULT_BUFFER_SIZE);
                // Init servlet response.
                response.reset();
                response.setContentType("application/pdf");
                response.setContentLength( (int)file.length());
                response.setHeader("Content-disposition", "inline; filename=\"" + fileName + "\"");
                output = new BufferedOutputStream(response.getOutputStream(), DEFAULT_BUFFER_SIZE);
                // Write file contents to response.
                byte[] buffer = new byte[DEFAULT_BUFFER_SIZE];
                int length;
                while ((length = input.read(buffer)) > 0) {
                    output.write(buffer, 0, length);
                // Finalize task.
                output.flush();
            catch( Exception e )
                System.out.println( "Error displaying file.");
            finally {
                // Gently close streams.
                close(output);
                close(input);
            // Inform JSF that it doesn't need to handle response.
            // This is very important, otherwise you will get the following exception in the logs:
            // java.lang.IllegalStateException: Cannot forward after response has been committed.
            facesContext.responseComplete();
        }

    1) window.open will open a new window and call a servlet.
    window.open ("http://path_to_yourservlet/PDFServlet", "newWindowName");
    if you ant to pass some values from your web page to the servlet you can pass as
    window.open ("http://path_to_yourservlet/PDFServlet?param1=value1&param2=value2", "newWindowName");
    2) The servlet will fetch and display the pdf file.

  • Links will not display in new window

    I have just install the new version of Thunderbird 31.4.0 and now find when I click on a Link it does not display in a new window. To display the link I have to click on the Explorer tab near the start button. I would like the link to open immediately as it did previously. Thank you very much

    This is not actually a Thunderbird question, but a browser issue, so you should really be asking this in the Firefox forum (assuming you use firefox) as it is the browser not taking the focus.
    However, here is some help if you use Firefox.
    If you use Firefox:
    type : about:config into the Firefox address bar and hit enter. you will get a warning to be careful :)
    In the Search bar, type : diverted look for this line: "browser.tabs.loadDivertedInBackground"
    By default, the value of this entry should be false. This would give you focus on the browser after opening the link.
    So check to see if you may have this set as 'True'.
    To change it, double click on that line and it will toggle the value from 'True to 'False'.
    Restart Firefox .

  • Open a new window (new display) in Java ME - how?

    I have now done a log in screen where the user has to type a server and a port to connect to. When the user press the Connect button I want a new "window" with a TextBox to be displayed.
    The new "window" is actually a new class which contains its own startApp, pauseApp and all those overridden methods. I can make the window appear?
    I Java SE, the new window just has to extend from JFrame and then call the construktor with a reference to the new window, for instance:
    new_window_reference.setVisible(true);
    Is there any way to make an application like that in Java ME?

  • Display values on new window from backing bean HashMap

    Hi,
    I need to open a new window when user clicks on some link from the current page. New window will display few values which are set once the link is clicked.
    I have created a bounded task flow with a jspx page added into the task flow. This jspx page contains a jsff page. While clicking on the link, I have called backing bean method which will create and set a HashMap containing key-value set which is used to display on new window.
    New window is created by javascript. And I am not able to get HashMap values which are set by bakingbean method.
    Is there anyway to solve this?
    Code:-
    Backing Bean method to open new window
    private void launchWindow () {
    FacesContext facesContext = FacesContext.getCurrentInstance();
    // Taskflow parameters map
    Map <String, Object> params = new HashMap <String, Object> ();
    // Get taskflow URL to be opened in new window.
    String taskflowURL = ControllerContext.getInstance ().getTaskFlowURL (false, new TaskFlowId (
    AppsConstants.DESCRIPTION_TASKFLOW_DOCUMENT,
    AppsConstants.DESCRIPTION_TASKFLOW_ID), params);
    taskflowURL = taskflowURL.replaceAll("%2F", "/");
    ExtendedRenderKitService erks = Service.getRenderKitService (FacesContext.getCurrentInstance (), ExtendedRenderKitService.class);
    String jsScriptWindowOpne = "window.open(\"" + taskflowURL + "\", \"" + resourceBundleMapper.getString (AppsConstants.LBL_NOTI_DESC_NEW_WINDOW_TITLE) + "\");";
    try {
    erks.addScript (FacesContext.getCurrentInstance(), jsScriptWindowOpne);
    } catch (Exception e) {
    logger.log (Level.SEVERE, "Exception while adding javascript to open a new window in ExtendedRenderKitService object. " + e);
    New window jsff page
    <af:outputText value="#{backingBeanScope.notification.notificationDescriptionMap}" />
    Output
    I want to get values from this HashMap, to test the size/content of this Map, I have printed this Map.

    Hi,
    Yes its possible..
    A simple google search gave me this Result.
    Betw:
    you can also open taskflow as popup in your page(inline popup) instead of opening the taskflow in other browser window.

  • Opening a list item pdf attachment from the display form in a new window

    I have a list setup in which attachments are enabled.
    Users attach pdf's to list items.
    When they go into the display form for a list item and click on a pdf attachment in the "Attachments" area at the bottom of the form, it opens in the same browser window.
    I would like to amend this so it opens in a new window.  Has anyone found a fix for this?
    Thanks in advance,

    Hi ,
    Put the code below in your DispForm.aspx page .The you can open the attachments in a new window. Including all the other links on the DispForm.aspx page .
