Displaying Text in the Filter charectaristics in the portal

Hi Everybody,
I got a problem in the portal.
When i am selecting Filter values in portal, Some Filte Char´s just showing Keys, but not Text. But some of them are showing text too. So, I need to display text instead of Keys.
I tried to change Infoobject properties In Business Explorer Tab with Text. And also i did in the Business Explorer. Even I am not able to see text in the Filter Char´s. Is there any other way to diplay Text in Filter Char´s.
Please reply to me as soon as possible.

Displaying Text message or Symbol while processing the BI Publisher Report

Hello,
I have a BIP report embedded in a dashboard along with the Dashboard prompt.
After clicking the 'View' button of the BIP report it shows a processing symbol and displaying like 'Processing..to cancel click here'.
Where as BIP report is not showing anything after the prompts selection but it is running the report and displaying after some time.
This gives the end user a wrong impression that whether the report is executed or still processing.
Is there any way to set a text message or a processing symbol to show progress after the prompt selection?

I tried running the above report from the machine where BI PUBLISHER has been installed,I was able to save reports with different names to the folder.How can I run the report from my machine?What path should I give when we do not run from the server?

Setting the filter to restrict the data based on processing period

Hi all,
Hope someone might be able to help me - OBIEE 11.1.1.5 - I have an RPD very simple just two tables (nothing coomplex).
Here is the scenario - after every month end close the user will run the report from the dashboard by selecting the processing period like 20111130 (NOV close) processing period is a varchar(8) in the table, once the user selects the 20111130 i need to get the dataset for the last 12 months which is based on a different field called EMP HIRE DATE (this field includes the data values from 2005 onwards but i only need last 12 months) in this example l need to set the filter so that i only get the data from DEC 2010 - I was able to get this done using the SQL in TOAD against oracle 11 - but i am not sure how to set this as a filter in BI answers/dashboard
The below is my filter in TOAD but not sure how i can accomplish this in OBIEE - PROCESSING_PERIOD is VARCHAR(8) , EMP_HIRE_DT is DATE

I also found that what was happening is that the state was being correctly set, but the List was overriding the state with its built in selected and hovered state. The renderer would have a stepper, but as soon as the mouse moved over it it would change state. I even tried deleting all the states in the states array except "normal" and "stepper" , but it would still change out of "stepper".
Also, the buttons on the item renderer would also cause the item renderer to change states when their states changed.
So, for this case, to get it done I changed from a states model to a visibility model, and that works fine:

@Spotify What sort of kind of question is this? Are you implying that no one at Spotify has a basic understanding of usability? It sure seems like it. First, I have to ask why would Spotify ever remove a feature that is in active use? Second, why do the product managers/developers at Spotify not understand the existing use of "find" or "filter"? The reason this feature was put into the product is the reason it should stay in the product. This sort of functionality has existed in computer interfaces for decades. Visual search (i.e. having a human being visually scan every item manually) is very slow and prone to error. When there is more than a little information on the screen, having the computer search for the human is much more efficient and less prone to error. I would suggest everyone at Spotify get as much remedial education as possible in usability. Here's a place to start: What — Definition of UsabilityUsability is a quality attribute that assesses how easy user interfaces are to use. Suggestions to improve the filter output of the acquired pulse signal

I am working with acquiring the pulse signals form DAQ using a sample rate of 1k and number of samples as 1k for every 1sec signal using the DAQ.
I am using the smoothing type filter with Moving average->Rectangular->Halfwidth=3 and passing the smoothed signal to the butterworth filter with my requirements of 2.3hz and 0.7 with sample rate of 1000.
Problem:The filtered signal is always starting form 0 instead to start with the first value in the acquired pulse signal.For example, starting from 0 instead to start from around 0.057 as shown in the images.
How to make the filtered signal to start from the original pulse signal value.

All filters have a transient response. A bandpass filter with a DC component at the input will have that transient strongly excited.
Some of the filter VIs have an Init? input. If the signal is continuous but is being filtered in segments, that input can help by retaining the previous state of the filter. The first transient will still be there, but later ones should be erduced or eliminated.
In the example VI attached you will find that there is a transient at the beginning of each segment. This is due to the sine signal not having an integer number of cycles.
The IIR Cascade Filter with I.C.vi and IIR Filter with I.C.vi in the Signal Processing >> Filters >> Advanced IIR Filtering palette have an initial state input.That might be helpful but calculating an appropriate set of initial conditions from the signal data may not be straightforward.
What do you want the output to look like? What are you doing with the filtered data? Perhaps there is a better approach than a filter.

Get the filter value in the Modify Table interface

Dear Colleages,
I use a Table Interface in order to get aditional values in a web template from a table, but I need the filter value used in the query.
I can get it with "get parameter" sentence:
GET PARAMETER ID '/BI0/OCALMONTH' FIELD MES1
But I cannot when I have a filter instead of a variable, it doesn't work using a variable without "manual entry" option.
¿How can I get this filter value?

The dynamic filters are in e_t_slicer.
If this a a static filter or a variable, you can find them in e_t_txt_symbols.

Adding "Filter Criteria" to the XSLT List View Web Part impact on "Export to Excel" functionality within Document Library

XSLT List View displaying all the list items within the Document Library. In order to implement the Search functionality within Document library out of box "Text Filter" web part is configured as explained below. The solution is similar to
the one suggested at

"Text Filter" Web Part added to the page.
Filter Criteria (i.e., XSLT List View columns) added to the XSLT List View where the filter parameters take the input from the "Text Filter" Web Part .
3. Both Web Parts (XSLT List View and the Text Filter) are connected.
When the search criteria is entered into the "Text Filter" Web Part, it is passed to the relevant Columns of the XSLT List View and the documents (List Items) that match the search criteria are shown within XSLT List View.
Search functionality working as expected.
Query: Selecting the "Export to Excel" icon from the ribbon generates the excel spread sheet with no data except Column Titles from the Document library. In the investigation it is
found that adding the 'Filter Criteria' on XSLT List View is causing this bug. When the Filter Criteria is removed, then "Export to Excel" functionality is working as expected.
But it is mandatory to add "Filter Criteria" to implement the search functionality with in the document library.
Help: Help/input appreciated on the work around to get the "Export to Excel" functionality work when the "Filter Criteria"
exist on the XSLT List View.

In the investigation it is found that removing the 'Filter Criteria' on XSLT List View makes the "Export to Excel" functionality work. But the 'Filter Criteria' is mandatory to get the 'Document Search' functionality.
I think that due to technical limitations it should be concluded that 'only custom development can make all work, no code solutions using the SharePoint Designer can meet all the requirements.
If you can think of any alternative solution that could help in resolving the current issue or fix the issue without any custom implementation please inform. Otherwise this issue would be marked as resolved with your suggested response.

Problem with creating a new file in the Filter

hi,
i have the following problem.
1) For all requests ending with *.xml (for example requests such as http://www.asdf.com/feeds/myfile.xml ) i have mapped it to a filter
2 ) In the filter i did the following...................
//getting the file name from the url
//create the file if it does not exists..................
chain(request,reponse);
//done
problem is
3) a) For files which iam not creating in filter (i.e files which are already there) the response is proper it is returning a xml file
b) But for files which are not there already , which we are creating in the filter dynamically it is showing a 404 (i.e file not found message)
But if i refresh again in the browser it is getting a valid XML file.......................................
I could not able to figure it out why it is returning 404 error in cases where the file is being created dynamically.................................
Can any one guide me resolving this problem?

Change the column header according to the filter value ?

Hello Experts,
I have a requirement in which the customer wants to change the column header of the Sales Volume Key Figure to change according to the filter selected for the Calender Year / Month in the Free characteristics.
I could display the header as 'Sales Volume for OCT 2000' as this is the value restricted intially in the free characteristics for Calender Year / Month.
Any suggestion is appreciated.

Probably my previous explanation of the problem was a little incomplete. Let me give a better description.
The situation is something like this.
I have a requirement in which the customer wants the column header to reflect the 'keep filter value' restriction that he does dynamically in the query report.
i.e:
-- usually the kf column header shows 'sales volume'
-- column header with text variable of the Calender year / month variable -- 'sales volume for 2000 oct'
-- but when the report is run, if the user wants to go and change the filter: calender year / month > rt clk > keep filer value > select Jan 2003.
The kf column header still shows 'Sales Volume 2000 Oct'
How to make the column header change to 'sales volume for Jan 2003' ?

NI 5122 add processing filter step truncate the initial curve

Hello fellows,
I'm trying to add Waveform Processing Step to my NI5122 channel 0 acqusition and I don't understand why my resulting waveform have some point that are truncated from original waveform.
In attached file the Vi that I run to adquire my waveform on channel 0. I apply the Butterworth IIR Filter directly to the waveform that is adquired on channel 0 and I don't have the same problem as when I tried to apply the filter directly through the Add Waveform Processing step VI.
Is there any step I am missing to proceed correctly the filter on the digitizer ?

Thank you for posting on the National Instruments' forum.
I think the difference between both your Waveform is how you read your sample.
On one hand you use the multi-read wdt VI and in the other hand you use Fetch Measurement VI. If you use indicator, you can see that the number of samples is different between them.

Adding a Default value to the Filter in a Workbook

Hi,
I have created a workbook in BI 7.0. In the Filter, for a variable its displaying '#' as default value, but i want to display one of my variable values there.
I added this value in the 'Default values' tab of the variable in the Query Designer. After saving the query, i went to workbook, clicked on the Filter button, changed to design mode, clicked on the Filter pane, assigned the query as the Infoprovider& saved the workbook. But still i am getting the '#' in my Filter.
I closed the workbook, opened it again & refreshed it but still i couldnt see the variable i added. Am i missing any other thing? Please guide me. Thanks for your time.

Hi,
adding a value as default value for a variable is only relevant for the selection screen.
If u want to define # in the navigation pane u can do that there and save the workbook.
Then # is saved as filter on workbook lvl, but its changeable by the user.
Hint: In analysis mode disable "initial query view on refresh" in dataprovider settings of the analysis grid.

How to collapse the filter conditions

Hi,
We are displaying the filter conditions under each dashboards. But our conditions are around 10, so the user want to collapse them by defualt.
if they want they want to expand and see the filters.
Can any suggest how to achieve this.
Also, during export to ppt they want the filter conditions also to be exported.

Venkat.This is what you should do:
1) Ensure that the Filter View exists in your report.
2) In your dashboard, drag TWO instances of your report in a section, one beneath the other.
3) In the second (bottom) instance, click on the Rename button. Type "Filter View" and then check the "Use Dashboard..." checkbox. Click "OK."
4) Click on the Properties button: Properties>Display Results>Link - In a Separate Window.
5) Click on the Properties button again: Properties>Show View>Filters 1
Now check out the dashboard. You will see a simple link that indicates the Filter View of the report without taking up any real estate on your dashboard. It costs you nothing extra and automatically updates when you modify your report.
That's what you should do for dashboard reports.

Query Manager- Filter List Missing Values in the Filter List.

Hello experts,
We would like your help in the following issue.
We are using SAP B1 9.0 (PL10).
When we run a query report from the query manager in SAPB1, the report results that are displayed contain an extended list of names, starting from A to Z. When we use the filters button in this report, in the filter field with the BP Names the list contains only the names from A to M, and not the rest.
Please advise us, if anyone has faced the same issue.
