Displaying thumbnail photos on incoming calls

How do you get those little thumbnail pictures to show up on incoming calls like they show on the iphone commercial. Please reply to [email protected]

Asking for direct email is considered rude in forums. We are here to help all and have threads others can search on. Not take the time to open our email clients, send an email to a stranger thus giving up our personal info (our email address) to another person for no reason.
As for your question, searching the forum would of shown many threads on this subject. You need to set in your Address book (on your computer) in the image field for that contact a picture. That will then be synced back as a thumbnail. If you use the iPhone to set the image, then you get full screen.

When I upgraded I was able to get full screen photos for incoming calls and then it changed to a small round picture in the upper right corner, why did it change? How can I get the fulll sreen photos for incoming calls again?

How do I get my contact's photos to display full screen for incoming calls?

I noticed today that when I get an incoming call it no longer displays "full screen". I keep missing calls because it now only displays as a banner at the top of the screen that someone is calling and their photo (if I've assigned one to them) is a tiny thumbnail.
Did I only just notice now that this is another 'great upgrade' with the new IOS, or is this some weird glitch with my phone? I've been wondering how I've been missing calls in the past week, but just happened to catch it today after I had been using the new map app and wasn't sure if it was just a coincidence or if it's somehow connected..?
Is there any way to change this or am I stuck with it this way??

I've never added my contact on my computer, I've always done it through my phone (I didn't know you could do it through the computer). The problem is not the photo, it's that the call doesn't come in and take up the full screen. Now when a call comes in, it displays as a banner at the top of the phone where the time and date normally would be, so I don't notice anyone's phoning.
As far as I can recall, it's only started happening since yesterday after I used the new map app. I've checked my notifications settings and the phone settings and so far as I can see, everything is set the same way it always was. I checked my hubby's phone to see if it's maybe something new since this last update to IOS6, but the call displays full screen (regardless whether the contact has a photo associated to it or not) and not a banner at the top of the screen like mine.
I still don't know how to change this back. Any other suggestions?

there are 3rd party applications that can do this, check skyecaller, best full screen caller for s60 3rd, and still others... the downside, you have to pay...

when someone calls and I have a picture set it takes up the whole display, on the commercial it only takes a small picture in the top corner. How do I get mine to do that?

Not to complicate things, but Mac Address book chops everything down to a square icon when you sync iPhone contacts to it.
Try it. If you assign a 2:3 aspect portrait image to a contact on the iPhone, then sync your contacts back to Address Book, the contact in Address Book will contain an icon cropped to the middle of the image you selected. If you do anything at all to that image in Address book's Edit mode, it will get sync'd back to your iPhone as an icon again -+EVEN THOUGH+ the image may still be on your iPhone in its original size. This corroborates viali's theory regarding editing photos.
_Moral of the story:_
1. Use images taken with your iPhone's built-in camera for caller ID pics.
or
2. Edit your photos down to 320 x 480 before syncing them into the iPhone and assign them to contacts once they are on the device.
In either case, DO NOT edit or try to further assign contact photos in your address book software (including Mac Address Book). You must assign photos from the iPhone's interface if you want them to appear full-screen when the person calls.

Display both company AND name in contacts, incoming calls, messages, etc

Is there no way to have both a person's full name, AND company appear on the display of contacts and incoming calls??
I have over 2,000 contacts in my address book, many from the same company, and many with the same (or similar) names.
When someone with a very common name calls or texts, it's impossible for me to remember who they are without listing their company as well. If I have both Sam Michaels and Samantha Mitchells in my address book, sometimes the only way to distinguish between the two is knowing that Sam works for Viacom and Samantha works for Universal.
I've heard that the only way to do this is to include the company name in the person's main "name" field. This is problematic because A) it would take me a million years to go through and personally edit all of my 2k+ contacts, and B) this is completely counter-intuitive of having the company/office/job title lines available as fields in the address book in the first place.
Does anyone know a way around this at all?? Apple really needs to find a way to fix this, as it's super inconvenient for business professionals. This is just another one of my many frustrations with Apple products being not intuitive for workers in the corporate world.

I'm not aware of a way to do this, however I'm certain that when my phone rings, it shows the person's name and company information that I have written in contacts. I've not taken time to check lately, but that seems to be the case for contacts that have a company name in them. Ones that do not have a company name show the person's name and then the label for the phone number they are using, such as home, work, mobile, etc.
Otherwise, feedback to Apple goes HERE, and then just click on the appropriate subject.

so, when there's an incoming call, that listener will invoke a midlet that will run as the display screen for the incoming call (like a wallpaper)...and after the call is finished/rejected, the midlet will be destroyed...

You can invoke the application through SMS and that also when the SMS are sent to the port the application has registered. As far as invloking the application on incoming call is concerned, I dont think j2me supports it. Try using push registry for autostarting the application through SMS.

Reduce the resolution.
The picture will display as thumbnail on the phone when a call comes in.
Since Mountain Lion I had full screen caller pictures even when assigned in the OS X adress book.
In my case I reduced the picture to 64 x 64 pixels.
Then it showed as thumbnail as calls came in.
I don't know where the exact maximum pixel size for thumbnail display is.
If you find out, tell us.
This bugged me a long time and I would enjoy if this could help you.

Contact photos do not display on incoming calls

when I receive a call from someone in my contact list, their photo no long shows up on the incoming call. It used to show up, but stopped some time in the last few days.

Thanks for the question. Some features have changed with the iOS 7.1 update. Do your contact pictures still show in a small circle on the incoming call screen? as outlined in this image:

If so, this is expected behavior with the iOS 7.1 update. If not, check to make sure that your contacts still have pictures associated with their contact cards.

I am unable to get small contact photos display while receiving or making calls!!

I am unable to make out how to get a small display of the photo on the right hand top corner of the phone while receiving or making calls. I always get a larger display which is covered by the phone options. I have tried every possible option
1. Adding photos in windows contacts and syncing with iphone
2. Adding photos to my contacts from photos taken from iphone
3. Adding photos synced from my PC
None of these options work, can anyone help me to get smaller display of photos while making and receiving calls

Photos added to your contacts on your computer will appear as thumbnails. Those added directly on your phone will appear full size. So, edit the contacts on your phone & delete the photos that were added directly on your phone.

You weren't the only one that wanted the full screen photos back. There were a lot of complaints and they are back in iOS 8 but that doesn't help you with iOS 7.1.2 unfortunately.

CUCIMOC - Display Outlook contact information by incoming calls

Hi, is it possible to display some outlook contact information in CUCIMOC by incoming calls? Szenario: The customer's contact information are already added to the outlook contacts. By receiving a call from an external customer only the phone number is displayed, it would be helpful also to display p.e. the customer's name, photo, etc. Is it possible to check the incoming calls with the outlook contacts?
