Disscussion page loads stalls.

I get have been getting a lot of stalls with this line on the bottom of the window -- On the worst days at least once per hour for the past three months.The stalls can last a minute or more until timeout.  Some times I restart the page and the page loads quickly.
Anything I can do about it?
Are others getting these stalls?

Ok in your *embedded* css replace yours for mine.....
body {
background-color: #1e4464;
and in your twoColFixLtHdr css sheet replace yours for
mine....
body {
font: 100% Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;
margin: 0; /* it's good practice to zero the margin and
padding of the
body element to account for differing browser defaults */
padding: 0;
text-align: center; /* this centers the container in IE 5*
browsers.
The text is then set to the left aligned default in the
#container
selector */
and.........
.twoColFixLtHdr #container {
text-align: left;
font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;
font-size: medium;
font-style: normal;
line-height: normal;
background-color: #FFFFFF;
padding: 0px;
width: 780px;
margin: 0 auto;
Note:- you may want to consolidate your embedded css and your
linked sheet.
Then check out the other replies to your post and take it
from there.

  • Does the page loading stall or what???

    Hi... I am currently visiting family and using their fairly slow 1.5 MBits/sec DSL connection... So everything is a bit slower but that's ok... But since I've been here, I notice that most pages load in a reasonable time but when I load big content pages like msnbc's home page, I see the gear spinning and the blue progress bar moves across the URL text entry bar at a reasonable speed and then that progress bar disappears completely and then the fun starts... I will see something like "completed 52 of 80 items", the gear spins but it just sits there, often for minutes before the page finally loads...
    What's happening during that long period where it appears to be stalled??? It seems to happen with pages that have a lot of content, like major news sites... Any thoughts on what causes this and how perhaps to make it go away??? Resetting Safari or clearing the cache does not help this problem... Your thoughts???
    thanks... bob...

    Site like MSN with so much video and image content are going to be slower loading on DSL period but should load.
    I am running Safari 5.0.2 and OS X 10.6.4..
    I meant for the computer using DSL. If Safari isn't up to date, that could be a factor for not loading pages correctly.

  • SAFARI, FIREFOX, IE / PAGE LOADING STALLS

    I'm experiencing the same problem on all three browsers. When I open a new page in the browser window, the load process stalls -- usually when it is trying to load one of the last 2 or 3 items.
    This problem started about a week ago.
    I've cleared the caches, and deleted the cookies. I removed and reinstalled Firefox - my preferred browser.
    G4 / 933MHz / 1GB   Mac OS X (10.3.9)

    Hi, Gary. From your description, it doesn't sound as if the browsers are stalling — it just sounds as though the pages in question weren't designed and thoroughly tested to load properly on various different browsers. Unfortunately, that's more nearly the rule than the exception: it's unusual for any page to be displayed exactly identically in two different browsers, never mind three or more different browsers. If the page-loading progress bar reaches completion, and you are able to use buttons and links that appear on the pages, then you're getting everything you can in each of the browsers you use — but not necessarily the same stuff in each browser. If you only had a single browser, you'd never know you were missing anything on the web sites you visit unless a freind who could see the missing features told you about them. With three browsers to choose from, use the one that most satisfactorily renders each web site you frequent. This may mean switching from browser to browser as you move from one web site to another. It's a drag, but the web site designers are to blame for failing to test and debug their sites more thoroughly.

  • Firefox is already running but not responding/random page-load stalls.

    Lately when I use Firefox, everything works initially when I first open a browser and start my browsing session, however, when I come back to my already opened browser from my desktop either being asleep or in screensaver mode, the browser will often no longer load webpages. I then go to close the browser to reopen it, I receive the error message:
    "Firefox is already running, but is not responding. To open a new window, you must first close the existing Firefox process, or restart your system."
    I've researched this error, and some discussions mention it deals with the default profile for the browser. I deleted the default profile, and created a new profile, and still receive the same issue. Also I have downloaded, uninstalled, and have done a clean reinstall of Firefox 4.01 and still receive the issue.
    Do you know what could be the problem? Thanks for your help.

    Access Rights
    It would be better if someone with Vista knowledge answered you.
    I use XP pro & XP home edition so do not know answers for Vista. XP pro gives detailed security info and settings, XP HE it is a lot move difficult to figure out, and displays a greyed out tick/check-mark as the folders ''Read Only'' attribute. If you look within the folder you will see files such as ''places.sqlite'' as long as such files have very recent dates/times you can assume firefox does have write permissions on the files.
    As a test I suppose you could create a new profile and using profile manager create the profile folder on the Windows desktop, where you can be sure you will have access rights to it.
    I suggested changing the sleep settings etc, because if you suspect it is the sleep etc function causing the problem that may show up quickly if you change the OS settings to a short delay before it sleeps.
    Presumably when you see the error messages you are seeing the firefox.exe process is still running when you look in Task Manger. Try deliberately bookmarking open tabs to a folder and closing all but a blank page tab before closing down firefox that may help remedy the problem.
    You could also check to see if you have multiple copies of sessionstore.js (you will loose session restore info if you delete them, but at least move them out of the profile, they could be a cause of the problem) see http://kb.mozillazine.org/Firefox_hangs#Multiple_sessionstore.js_files

  • Safari Stalls on SOME pages - loading ads?

    I moved an Intel Mini from an Airport network to an ethernet connection on the same network. Safari now has issues loading SOME but not all web pages. One page with a problem is www.macrumors.com - the content on the page loads but Safari stalls, apparently trying to load all the ads.
    The stall makes it impossible to use Safari, and needs to be "force quit".
    Other ethernet-connected Macs have no issues.
    I've done the usual troubleshooting; DNS, disabling DNS prefetching, etc. but nothing seems to resolve the issue.

    I have tried all of these solutions and find that at times nothing resolves the problem with Safari stalling except for switching from wi-fi to another connection method.   This is happening on different networks(routers) and is resolved if I disable wi-fi and connect via another means.    My 6 year old  OS-X on a 11 yr. MacBook pro never has any issues and is ALWAYS 3 times faster than the new Safari runs on a much more powerful machine running on the same wi-fi network.   Wish I could switch back to the older Safari.
    Here is my story:
    When Yosemite came out I installed it (and have applied all available patches) on my MacBook Pro,MacBook Air and 2 IPhones and now having problem with Safari stalling at 25% load progress point in webpage download at a fairly high frequency.    YOSEMITE REALLY *****  -- need to now figure out how to the MAVERICKS installed.
    Meanwhile,  I have another MacBook Pro -  11 Yr. old and 6 yr. old Safari and it is rock solid reliable and on average it's 3 times faster in loading (when compared to YOSEMITE when it's working that is).      As a result,   I had to download anothe r browser and as you would expect,  I am not having these problems with anothe r browser.
    Avoid YOSEMITE is you care an ounce about have a reliable Safari browser.
    Thanks for wasting my time Apple -- now I got the hours/hours of trying to reload 4 devices with MAVERICKS.
    I believe the issue has to do with using Safari via a Wi-Fi connection as when I turn on Wi-Fi on the Iphone's the problem seems to be resolved.     Unfortunately it's not an easy option to disable Wi-Fi on the MacBook Pro's/Air as it wouldn't be much fun to connect up with an ethernet cable.    It's not the Wi-Fi connection itself as it happens on all Routers in multiple locations and the 11 yr. old MB running 6 yr old Safari doesn't have the same problem.

  • Unloadable items from certain servers stalling page loading and page saving

    Occasionally I'll come across pages that stall when trying to load items from certain servers. Most frequently, it is servers at '''ytimg.com''' and another that I can recall is '''simplecdn.net'''. At the bottom of the Firefox window (where it displays page items that are currently loading) it will say ''Waiting for ytimg.com'' (or something similar) and the page will just sit there for hours not fully loading because of that one item. If I try to save the page to my hard drive (use the ''Web Page, complete'' option), the saving process will stall because of those items just as the page loading did. The primary difference being that the page saving eventually times out and an error prompt appears. My question is this: When I encounter these unloadable/unsavable page items, how can I instruct Firefox to just skip them and move on with loading/saving the rest of the page items?

    The problem has existed for years now. I've experienced it with several different computers, many different Firefox versions and many different software (and extension) environments/configurations. I've gone through a lot of trouble throughout the years to make sure the problem isn't being caused by something usual on my end. I'm just now getting around to posting about it. At present, I'm using Windows XP Pro in a very lean state. No services running that aren't needed and no other programs running except for Comodo Firewall. Just before posting here, I ruled out Comodo Firewall by uninstalling it while testing. I also re-installed Firefox and ran it with no extensions in order to rule out the possibility of a problematic extension. I should mention that I posted this a couple of days ago because I was experiencing the stalling problem while trying to load & save a particular web page. The following day there was no problem with loading or saving that same web page. It seems the '''ytimg.com''' server was perhaps down one day and then back up the next. Keep in mind that the problem isn't so much that this stalling occurs but rather that I can find no option in Firefox that will allow me to skip the loading/saving of the particular items that are causing the stalling. (Attached image is a snapshot of my typical running processes while Comodo Firewall is installed and running).

  • Web pages load SLOW on IPad: how to disable DNS prefetching; other ideas?

    Brand new IPad 16 GB WiFi + brand new Airport Extreme in bridge mode. Comparing IPad web page load speeds with side-by-side WinXP computer running IE8. Any web site will do: take www.apple.com if you want.
    Problem: IPad web pages generally load much too slowly compared to IE8 on a computer 6 inches away on the same Airport Extreme network. Maybe twice as slow at worst, occasionally not much slower, but generally pathetic and annoying. WiFi signal strength is "excellent". Airport Extreme network is working great with all my (Windows) computers and devices except the IPad.
    I already switched to OpenDNS on my Airport Extreme; didn't help noticeably. I would like to try disabling DNS prefetching in Safari, but don't know how to do it on the IPad. Question #1: How do I disable DNS prefetching? Question #2: Any other suggestions for this embarrassing (to Apple) problem?

    I'm experiencing a similar problem with a new iPad 2 using iOS 4.3.3 connected to the Internet via Time Machine to a DSL line.  The Speedtest X HD App shows the connection speed to be fine (about .6 Mb / s).  The problem is only with accessing web pages.  I frequently get a "server not responding" msg.  There is no problem when I connect the device via USB to an iMac, only through wifi.  The iMac itself (Intel with OSX 10.6.7) periodically experiences problems (both Firefox and Safari):  I have learned to solve it by cleaning out cache and fixing disk permissions periodically.  I've tried cleaning out cache on the iPad, deleting cookies and erasing web history, but that doesn't seem to make any difference.  The problem reminds me of an old VNC problem:  you had to allocate a large amount of cache or streaming would stall.  This is also happening with the iPad 2.  Maybe the problem is a DNS channel issue but my impression is that it is somehow related to a memory or cache issue with the iOS device or to Airport.  I've occassionally experienced similar slow page loading problems with other Airport connected devices--it varies from device to device.  It seems to be a client-side software or caching problem.

  • Long page loads - spinny icon - constantly

    I know this problem is probably unique to me, but Dreamweaver
    CS3 cannot make a simple change to a page, even when adding text
    without the "spinny" please wait icon (the rainbow colored one on
    Mac) -- I'm fully updated, I'm running a dual-core 2.66GHZ with 3
    GB of ram.. Mac OS 10.4.11 --- I have troubleshooted by NOT
    connecting to the remote FTP site.. the stalling still happens, I
    do have "put on save" UNCHECKED so it doesn't even connect to any
    FTP site at all, yet it waits with the spinny icon after any change
    I do. I guess my question is: "Does anyone have any idea how
    dreamweaver reloads a page, or any debugging that can be done
    through dreamweaver as to why it's stalling contantly"?

    We had the same problem. We got the best results from these changes:
    1. Optimize your media. Compress your audio farther than Apple recommends.
    2. If you are specifying any audio files in the XHTML, remove them. Code like this was especially problematic for us:
    <audio id="myid" src="audio/myaudio.m4a" ibooks:pause-readaloud="true" />
    3. If you are using javascript, carefully consider where to reference the javascript file, in the head, body or foot. They cause different perceptions of page loading.

  • High error count, slow or no page loads

    My apologies if the formatting of this is rubbish - posting from work and our firewall is blocking some features, so it looks awful here! Hi, I hope someone can help or advise with my ongoing Broadband speed issues. To summarise the story so far: Last week (19 July) I initiated the change from my then provider (Namesco) to BT by giving the MAC code. Changeover day was given as 1 week later, 26 July. 2 days later my BB connection went very slow. Pages would not load or would only load very slowly. Speed tests (when it would load) varied from mostly 200 Kbps to occasionally 1000 kbps. Previously I would have a consistent 2500 to 3000 kbps (we are 3 miles from a country exchange). Ever the optimist I assumed this slow down was related to the switch over and assumed all would be well on changeover day. No such luck. BT service went live on Tuesday 26th, I connected the new Homehub 3, all the new cables and all new filters. BT set up CD established a connection but the speed problems remain. Now pages will not load, IE is just waiting for…, even Google home page just stalls. I have tried Ping-ing various sites and mostly these request time out. Broadband light is on on the homehub and the problem exists for 2 different computers, both on a wired network cable direct to the hub. For the record, I have tried with the router connected to the master socket to eliminate the house wiring and this makes no difference. I have started a dialogue with BT tech support (India), but they want me in front of the computer so that will have to wait until later. They say the line is OK on a line check. Stats from the home hub show last night the following: Line state: connected Connection time: 0 days, 00:06:46 Downstream: 3 Mbps Upstream: 448 Kbps VPI/VCI: 0/38 Type: PPPoA Modulation: G.992.1 Annex A Latency type: Interleaved Noise margin (Down/Up): 2.0 / 23 dB Line attenuation: 46.0 / 25.5 dB Output power 19.0 / 12.3 dBm FEC Events (Down/up): 8011538 / 994 CRC Events: 21079 / 1004 Los of framing (Local/remote): 0 / 0 Loss of signal: 0 / 0 Loss of power: 0 / 0 HEC Events (Down / up): 266231 / 768 Error seconds: 2014 / 1599 The high CRC and error seconds counts don’t seem good and the low noise margin is also worrying. I appreciate this is a new conenction and there will be a training period, but speed is currently non-existent and of course the problem was manifest BEFORE the switch to BT. Thanks in advance for any help, as I am posting from work I may not be able to check back and respond immediately.

     Coming back with an update - something of a result actually. BT phoned, as promised bewteen 6 and 8 and admitted there was a fault on our line and they were working on it at the exchange.  Speed is now up to 1094 kbps on the BT line test.  BT say they are continusing to work on it and speed could vary until Monday when they will update me again.
    For the record here are the latest router stats, looking better already, particularly the noise margin

  • Slow page loads only since 10.4 upgrades

    Hi folks,
    Has anyone seen a problem with pages hanging up after updating from earlier OS X's to 10.4? First my wife noticed it when she got her new Mac Book -- an upgrade from 10.2.8 on the old machine. A couple of items would load on a page, but then it hangs up and stalls for a while until finally fully loading. Ordinarily, I'd peg it as just being slow serving of ads to particular sites, but it's not always ad-rich sites. And more so, it's strange that this only started happening in conjunction with starting to use 10.4 to surf the same sites that weren't hanging up before.
    Further confirming my belief that it has to do with 10.4, is that upon my upgrading from 10.3 to 10.4 on my G5 a month or so later, I started to immediately notice slow, slow page loads on that machine, too. Particularly, again, on sites that loaded fine with 10.3 just before the upgrade.
    I'm also having more problems with mailboxes loading slowly and kicking off-line since the upgrade.
    Is there some trick to get 10.4 to behave with regard to requests across the web??
    Thanks!!!!

    me too. My mini is wired, but I have the same trouble. I have a PC on the same router, and it has no problem with internet. I've been looking around a while, and it seems like this is a common occurrence and I have not found a fix yet. This is very frustrating. Also, the network status in the network diagnostics window shows the internet failing alot, but even when it's "green" I still can't always load pages.

  • Slow page loads, dropped connection

    Hi,
    Looking for some advice here. I write for the web for a living, and spend most of my day online. I'm not happy with the speed of my connection right now, and am considering upgrading to a faster package. I'm currently on the 768k to 1.5Mbps DSL package.
    The problem is, I don't get anywhere near the speed I'm paying for now. Page load times go from speedy to drop dead slow (20-30 secs), and often hang. I'm not sure what's going on, although I can say my mother has the same problems at her house (next town over, same DSL package). I can't see paying for a "faster" package when I don't even get the speed I should be now.
    Here are some stats. Hoping someone can take a look and give me some thoughts about whether a speed upgrade would be worth it.

    Has the line been performing any better since the last post? If not, find a time where it is working poorly and register an account over at DSLReports.com if you don't already have one. Fron there, visit their Tools section of their site and perform the Line Quality/Ping test. Be sure that before you start the test, your router/modem is not blocking Pings since this will result in the test having less data. Also, ensure nothing is using your connection before and during the time of the test being ran. Post up the results of the test once it has been completed.

  • Slow web page loading in Safari with DSL

    I've got an intermittent problem which may not be Safari-related, but I need to ask it anyway because Mac friends of mine have experienced similar problems.
    I just changed my ISP from satellite interenet to mid-speed DSL. Ever since the changeover, I've found that more often than not, pages seem to load about 66%, then data reception seems to stop. When pages DO load, they load quickly, but most of the time, pages seem to stop loading at a certain point. If I hit refresh (often after several times), then the page loads as fast as lightning.
    Could there be something with Safari that interacts with the DSL connection which causes the loading to stall? Many times, pages don't load at all, and I'm wasting time waiting for pages to "just pop up", Other times, I will get "Page Not Found" even though I KNOW there's a page existing at that particular location, yet Safari doesn't display it unless I first hit "Refresh". Still other times, The same pages load just fine, whether or not I empty the cache and close the downloads window.
    Any ideas, people?

    Hi Jim,
    The 'refresh to force the page to load' symptom is usually a sign that you either have the wrong DNS addresses specified in your Network preferences or your ISPs DNS server are very slow.
    Have a search for DNS on the Safari forum - there's quite a few posts and sample addresses for you to try out.
    Good luck.

  • Safari status bar no longer shows page load progress

    Hi...  Though it's been this way for a while now, perhaps since the start of whatever Safari version came along with OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion ??, I've finally become curious enough to ask about the following...
    In times gone by, the Safari status bar at the bottom of the page would show page loading progress...  You know, the old xx out of yy items complete or something like that???  But now, nothing...  Nothing at all in the Status Bar while a page is loading...  Nor is there a spinning gear in the URL line to show you something is going on...  Instead, all there is is the blue progress bar that slowly moves left to right across the URL box to show you what is happening...  And often that blue bar stalls where it just sits for quite a while...  And when that happens I never know the details of what is going on...
    Do I have something set up wrong???  Or did Apple decide we don't need to know what's going on while pages attempt to load???  I sometimes quit Safari when I have a secure page log on that appears to stall and all I have as feedback is a stalled blue progress bar...
    All I ever see light up in the status bar is the URL of a link I might hover over on a page...  Otherwise, nothing...  That doesn't seem right...  Again, am I doing something wrong in the Status Bar set up or is that all the Status Bar ever shows now????  And if the latter, why would Apple have chosen to stop letting us observe page loading progress???  At least that used to tell me something was happening..  A blue progress bar that stops moving doesn't tell me anything useful...
    Any thoughts or help on this would be much appreciated...  thanks...  bob...

    That is the way Safari works as far as I know.

    Is there any setting in CRM Ondemand to send Http request only instead of HTTPS?

  • I want to writte C# code for 503 Service Unavailable error to web application page immediate close connection any page loaded

    Here is a ticket regarding our current client web application (  Image data add, edit , delete in folder with form data in MSSQL Database) that using code c#, web form, ajax, VS2008, MSSQL Server2008 , it appears that there is an error where the HTTP
    503 error occurs.
    . Below is a conversation with Host Server support assistant.Can you take a look at it?
    Ben (support) - Hi
    Customer - We're having an issue with our windows host
    Ben (support) - What's the issue?
    Customer - 503 errors
    Ben (support) - I am not getting any 503 errors on your site, is there a specific url to duplicate the error?
    Customer - no, it comes and goes without any change Customer - could you have access to any logs ?
    Ben (support) - Error logs are only available on Linux shared hosting, however with this error it may be related to you reaching your concurrent connections
    Ben (support) - You can review more about this at the link \
    Customer - probably yes - how can we troubleshoot ?
    Ben (support) - http://support.godaddy.com/help/article/3206/how-many-visitors-can-view-my-site-at-once
    Ben (support) - This is something you need to review your code and databases to make sure they are closing the connections in a timely manner
    Customer - we're low traffic, this is an image DB to show our product details to our customers
    Customer - ahhhh, so we could have straying sessions ?
    Ben (support) - Correct Customer - any way you could check if it's the case ?
    Customer - because it was working previously
    Ben (support) - We already know that's the case as you stated the 503 errors don't happen all the time if it were issue on the server the the 503 would stay.
    Customer - so our 2/3 max concurrent users can max out the 200 sessions
    Customer - correct ?
    Customer - is there a timeout ?
    Ben (support) - no that's not a time out concurrent connections are a little different then sessions and or connections. Lets say for an example you have 5 images on your site and 5 7 users come to your site this is not 7 concurrent connections but 35. They
    do close after awhile hence why the 503 error comes and goes. You can have these connections close sooner using code but this is something you have to research using your favorite search engine
    Customer - thank you so much
    Customer - I'm surprised that this just started a few weeks ago when we haven't changed anything for months
    Customer - any changes from your side ? lowering of the value maybe ?
    Customer - I'm trying to understand what I can report as a significant change
    Ben (support) - We haven't touched that limit in years
    Ben (support) - This could just be more users to your site than normal or even more images
    Customer - I was thinking that could be it indeed
    Customer - so I need to research how to quickly close connections when not needed
    Ben (support) - Correctly
    Ben (support) - correct
    Customer - thanks !!
    Ben (support) - Your welcome
     Analysis :
     The link provided tells us : All Plesk accounts are limited to 200 simultaneous visitors.
     From what Ben (support) says and a little extra research, if those aren't visitors but connections then it's quite easy to max out, especially if the connections aren't closed when finished using. I'd suggest forwarding this to Kasem to see what he thinks.
    Cheers,
    Customer

    Hi Md,
    Thank you for posting in the MSDN forum.

    Since
    Visual Studio General Forum which discuss VS IDE issue, I am afraid that you post the issue in an incorrect forum.
    To help you find the correct forum, would you mind letting us know more information about this issue? Which kind of web app you develop using C# language? Is it an ASP.NET Web Application?
    If yes, I suggest you could post the issue directly on
    ASP.NET forum, it would better support your issue.
    Thanks for your understanding.
