Distorted characters in printing

Hi, since friday when i've upgraded Arch I can't no more print correctly this type of pdf: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/1519420/Lezione05-nup.pdf because i obtain distorted characters and unreadable, if you use Okular to open the pdf, choose "grayscale" to the color mode and in page form choose "portrait" in order to get my same problem. I can't understand why until last week i had no problem but with the recent upgrade i can't print it

• Special German characters not printing correctly on BI pub report

Hi
We have a BI PU Report which gets the XML from the 6i reprot, the titles on the report are dervied from a custom table where we store the label value for each language. THis is worked so for okay on NA, now we migrated this to Europe and having issues with the label value. when the XML is viewed from the unix server the value appears oaky (the value is : Abnahmeprüfzeugnis),
but when I copy the XML output and view it from the desktop, it appears as Abnahmeprüfzeugnis , bsically it replaces ü with ü.
The pdf output also prints this wrong value (as Abnahmeprüfzeugnis). Not sure what's wrong with this. Please let me know if you have any ideas?
Thanks,
Ravi

Steve- I understand what you are mentioning about the ftp, the XML file looks okay on both server and the client except for the letter 'ü ' and the rest of the German characters prints okay. THe problem is that the BI reprot is printing the same wrong characters.

• All-In-One Printer- bad characters when printing

I have an OfficeJet T45 All-In-One printer, and PC with Windows XP. When I want to print multiple pages the first one often times prints just fine, but the remaining pages do not print the right letters and characters- it's as if you are printing a foreign language with the numbers and letters all jumbled up. Sometimes it's just the numbers in a document that print like this but not the letters. I find this to happen most often when I use the command box at the bottom of the page that comes up when you request printing a document, rather than the pull-down menu item on the task bar that says print. I also have a Brother-brand printer and have had the same thing happen. I can print the document to another printer and have no problem. I have replaced the printer cable in the Brother printer but it still occurs. Any ideas?

• Superscript Characters not printing in a PDF

I was wondering if anybody knows of a work around to print superscript characters in a table.
I am a Structural Engineer and use tables for my loadings however instead of m^2 (the 2 is superscript and no ^) I get m when I print my document to a pdf. But when I print to paper it prints as shown.
The wierd thing is if the superscript isn't in a table it will print ok !!!
I can obviously use ^2 instead but this looks unprofessional and a mess.
I tried to log this problem to Apple, but they wanted $20 just for the privledge
Thanks inadvance

Just tried again in the new Numbers 3.5 with Yosemite and this seems to have been finally fixed.
Printed to a pdf and superscript text was printed correctly.
I'll do some more testing but I hope I can finally say goodbye to Numbers 2.3.
My guess is this will be fixed in Pages too...

• Sapscript and Standard Text - Polish Characters not printing

Hi,
I have created an English Sapscript and translated it to Polish via transaction SE76.
Changing my PC Region and Language settings to Polish allowed me to enter Polish Characters into Hardcoded text in the Sapscript and Standard Text via s010.
I have two problems:
1) With my PC Region and Language settings set to Polish, when I create my sapscript output some of the polish characters that I have entered via SE76 and SO10 do not appear and are replaced by others e.g.
ę is dispalyed as ê
ć is displayed as æ
ń is displazed as #
2) I have a business requirement to be in England Logged with PC Region and Language set to English but to print a sapscript output in Polish. Is this possible.
We are currently on non unicode SAP system.
Please can anyone advise.
Regards

Hello,
SAP discourages mixed code page or MDMP systems and with good reason. If there is any possibility of you upgrading to a Unicode system in the near future you should try to wait for it. Supporting multiple languages in Unicode is easy, in MDMP it can be quite tricky. And MDMP makes the move to Unicode more difficult.
That said, your BASIS team can enable Polish and you can print in Polish while your PC is set for English. The SAPScript/Form must be in Polish or using an INCLUDE that is LANGUAGE 'PL' to let SAP know which code page to use when printing.
Seriously, look at moving to Unicode, you need to do it eventually anyways.

• Polish characters on print preview are not correct, printing works well

Hi gurus,
i've got a problem with smartform print preview. Our programmer developed form, which is used in polish and english version. In polish version everything works fine - print and print preview has polish characters (ąłćźń etc). In english version, print preview has no polish characters in address paragraph, but when I print it, everything is on his place.
Unfortunetly, system is non-unicode. I tried changing font to other (but in polish version with the same font, print preview is correct), changing size, even charset of printer. Works badly on I2SWIN, HP-PCL, and any other printer type.
What should I do now? Removing polish letters or changing them into "normal" is not acceptable solution, especially that printing works fine (on I2SWIN and HP PCL type also).
Polish is of course installed on the system.
Thank you for your help.

Hi Martin,
another thought to solve the issue is to translate the form to pl in your system. I got a similar issue some time ago.
I developed the form in DE and translated it just to English, because we wanted to set always English.
Problem was, that french characters didn't show up in a proper way in print-preview. We solved the issue by translating the form also in FR and IT.
It seemed, that the formlanguage passed just the native charactersets for this language.
Maybe you are having the same issue. Otherwise would be nice, if you can share your solution if there is another one here

• Problem with special characters (&) when printing using XSL-FO ...

Hello everybody !!
I have a problem when I want to print a Report with a link to a URL where the character "&" is present :
I want to have something like : src="file:///...webfile?param1=val1*+_&_+*param2=val2"
In my XSL-FO file, I wrote : src="file:///...webfile?param1=<xsl:value-of select="IDARTICLE"/>*+_<xsl:text>&</xsl:text>_+*param2=<xsl:value-of select="MARQUE"/>"
When I try this only with FOP, it works. However, when I upload the XSL-FO file to ApEx, it says my PDF file is corrupted when I want to open it.
What do I have to put the '&' symbol when I want to print the Report ??
Could anyone help me ??
Thanks by advance,
Pierre C.

I believe this relates to something I have actually found in my own testing.
It is probably due to the Template not being URLEncoded prior to transmission to the FOP processor.
I actually determined that special URL characters, like '+' and '&', are lost on transmission because the type of submission is POST with x-www-form-urlencoded, but the fields are not actually encoded entirely. The XML Element contents are encoded prior to transmission in order to preserve data.
Work around would be to URLEncode the template as it sits in the WWV_FLOW_REPORT_LAYOUTS. I have been able to successfully get around the problem by doing that.

• Russian characters getting printed as boxes when downloaded to PDF

Hi,
My program downloads smartform output to PDF file to local system.
But the downloaded PDF file contains Boxes instead of Russian characters.
But in print preview, i am able to see the Russian chracters.
Do i need to upload any font to sap system?
Do anybody have ideas to solve this problem.
Thanks,

The notes give you a very good background on why you might see this error; there's lots of notes that have informational character and some - even though for previous releases - can still contain relevant information. I can only advise again to do the simple test and check the PDF and form for the fonts that you used. It's impossible to see any Russian characters if the font doesn't support this. So if your form uses a font that is substituted in the printer driver for your PDF output (depending on how you do the PDF conversion) then you basically have to adjust your printer, so that it supports the font that you have in the script.
As you see the right characters in the print preview, I'm suspecting that the PDF you create ends up with a font that doesn't support Russian characters. OSS note [322998|https://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/322998|PDF conversion: Cyrillic support] basically explains what you need to do. This process cannot be automated via the notes assistant, thus it cannot be implemented. Depending on your release though, there might be other corrections necessary, e.g. check note [820106|https://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/820106|CONVERT_OTF: PDF replacement fonts are not embedded] (search OSS for a more comprehensive list applicable for your release).

• I need help with a 1 Page Form with scrollable text field (5000 limit characters) and printing

Hello, I have no training in using Adobe Acrobat Pro or Livecycle Designer so I need major help with a 1 page form that I am attempting to create. Basically the form will be used to nominate employees for a Job Well Done Award.
The form contains the following:
1.) The name(s) of the employees being nominated and the date of the accomplishment.
2.) In the middle of the page I have a section for a write up, limited to 5000 characters, this is were I am needing the most help. A couple of things, about this section: The font is set at 11 and I don't want it to change. The text field has multiple-line, scroll long text enabled. The text field is a certain size and can only hold so much text, then it starts to scroll, which I am ok with, I like that feature. The issue I am having is during printing. I would like to keep the text field scrollable but when I print I would like to be able to print everything in that field. Executing this is the problem, I have no clue how to do it. I was hoping for some setting within Acrobat Pro or LiveCycle to be available, but the more I read and research this, it appears that it may require java, xml, basically some coding. I don't know for sure.
3.) Below the text field I have another field for the person nominating to type their name and right next to that another field for a digital signature.
4.) And finally below those two fields I have a Submit button that is setup to start email application so the form can be emailed to the proper inbox.
Thank you in advance.

With an Acrobat form the only thing you can do is export the text to
another location (like a blank field on another page) or to another file
format. With an LCD form you can expand the text box itself, but you'll
need to ask about that over at the LCD Scripting forum.

Hello,
Check SAP note 1246423.
Perhaps this is simply a problem with the Sapscript buffers. You can
run the report RSTXDELL on the system to clear the Sapscript buffers.
It is a good idea to do the refresh procedures after any updates
concerning font metrics, device types etc...
To do this you can use RSTXDELL report with default settings except it
is better to have * instead of the current client number in the Client
field.
After this can you please create some new spools and the problem should
be resolved. It will not work to reprint an old spool as the contained
data is already incorrect.

David

• Odd characters when printing PDFs from iMac (10.6.3)

When printing a PDF from the iMac (new 27") above, we get odd characters printed down the right margin of the page. These characters do not appear when viewing in either Acrobat Reader or Preview. This also does not happen when printing from Parallels. The printer is an HP Officejet 6000. Just to throw an added wrench into this, the problem does not happen when printing from a new Mac Mini (also 10.6.3) to the same printer. Any solutions?

Check whether the fonts installed and active are the same. In particular, look for font conflicts in Font Book, and resolve them so both computers are using the same versions.

• Dropped characters when printing

When I convert an InDesign file using Adobe PDF Presets - (High Quality Print), the PDF looks fine on the screen, but drops random characters if I print it on a desktop or network printer. How do I resolve this print issue?

I believe Calibri should embed correctly, but your description of success in Word certainly makes it sound like a ligature problem. Are you exporting to PDF or Printing/Distilling?
