DivX Web Player will not install in Chrome

Hey,
I hope this is the correct forum, if not, if someone would redirect me I would appreciate it.
I can't get gifs to play in chrome.  They work fine in Safari and firefox.  I keep getting this error message:  "DivX Web Player is required to display some elements on this page."
I have downloaded and installed DivX repeatedly, rebooted repeatedly, still get same problem.
Problem started after my latest OS upgrade.
I'm running:
Model Name: MacBook Pro
  Model Identifier: MacBookPro4,1
Processor Name: Intel Core 2 Duo
  Processor Speed: 2.5 GHz
OS X Yosemite
Ver 10.10.1
Chrome
Version 39.0.2171.95 (64-bit)
I apologize for jamming everthing out here in the middle, but when I pasted my info from TextEdit, it inexplicably pushed most of it
off the page to the left and the only way to fix it was by centering the text.  Another weird thing this Mac does.

If a site offering a movie or other media free that is otherwise a "pay-for-it" product and they gave you the link to download a player, they likely gave you a non-working version of DIxV along with some malware/adware that will nton make your Mac happy.
The first thing to try is getting DivX directly from their official web site:
http://www.divx.com
If that gets the movie playing, you'll need to check for malware the other download may have injected. The easiest way is with this tool developed by one of our most valued contributors here:
http://www.adwaremedic.com/index.php
It will politely remove most serious adware/malware that is commonly injected from "free" media sites.

  • Flash player will not install blank installer, full download? tool remove remnants of flash?

    Windows 7 64bit, Firefox,Explorer, Chrome
For the longest time flash player will not install (updates for upgrades).
If I go to the main page I can download the 1mb file then open it up and the installer box opens but never does anything and is just black except the top bar. I can't even close it out. I have to "end task" it. I has been going on for a year or so.  I usually have to find a link to the full installer version but can't find it anymore.
Is there a tool to remove all remnants of Adobe flash player?
Link to full installer version of player?
I tried uninstalling all versions but still the same problem
    Thanks

The installer works for the vast majority of people.  We serve up something like 1.2 billion installs every months, so a failure rate of even 0.0001 is > 100,000 people.  We're not seeing that kind of traffic about this issue.
As the installer isn't dependent on Flash Player, and it doesn't leave anything around beyond a log file, it's unlikely that blowing Flash Player completely away would resolve anything, and it sounds like your efforts bear that out.  There's something underneath us that's not working right.  With Mac, it's usually corrupted NVRAM settings, but I'm not sure what it is on Windows.  My guess is that it's related to the graphics subsystem, but it's not something that I've seen happen under lab conditions, and we'd need to debug it to get a definitive answer.
So, I have a couple suggestions in order of least to most effort:
    Switch to Google Chrome.
Flash Player is a built-in component, so there's nothing separate to download or maintain.  Updates happen automatically as part of the standard Chrome update process, so you never have to touch another Adobe installer if you don't want to.
Scan your hard disk for errors, run the Windows system file checker, and make sure you have the latest graphics drivers for your system
Check your hard disk for errors in Windows 7
Use the System File Checker tool to repair missing or corrupted system files
Back up all of your stuff (ideally to both a disk and an online backup service for redundancy), wipe the machine and do a fresh install of Windows

  • Flash Player will not install thinks it is already installed

    Win 7 64bit
I can not open a PDF in the latest reader. It tells me flash needs to be installed. I go to the adobe site and flash player will not install stating it is already installed.  The active x widget says not player is installed.  It is not listed in managed add ons and is not listed in installed programs.
How can I install the program?

Some PDFs (with Rich Media Content) require the Flash Player plugin (NPAPI) to be installed.
I do not quite understand what you have installed, and what not.  I recommend that you uninstall Flash Player completely using the uninstaller from http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/uninstall-flash-player-windows.html
then download and run both installers from
Flash Player for Internet Exporer - ActiveX
Flash Player for Firefox - NPAPI

  • I am trying to use an education program that needs Java applets to install and use and it will not use Safari. When I download IE from the web it will not install. How can I get a browser that will work on my MacAir for travel use of this program?

I am trying to use and education program that needs Java applets and it will not run on Safari. IE will not install from the web. How do I get a browser that will work to install so I can use this program when I travel.

Try using FireFox. IE will only run on a Mac if you run Windows on the Mac.
    Windows on Intel Macs
There are presently several alternatives for running Windows on Intel Macs.
Install the Apple Boot Camp software.  Purchase Windows 7 or Windows 8.  Follow instructions in the Boot Camp documentation on installation of Boot Camp, creating Driver CD, and installing Windows.  Boot Camp enables you to boot the computer into OS X or Windows.
Parallels Desktop for Mac and Windows XP, Vista Business, Vista Ultimate, or Windows 7.  Parallels is software virtualization that enables running Windows concurrently with OS X.
VM Fusion and Windows XP, Vista Business, Vista Ultimate, or Windows 7.  VM Fusion is software virtualization that enables running Windows concurrently with OS X.
CrossOver which enables running many Windows applications without having to install Windows.  The Windows applications can run concurrently with OS X.
VirtualBox is a new Open Source freeware virtual machine such as VM Fusion and Parallels that was developed by Solaris.  It is not as fully developed for the Mac as Parallels and VM Fusion.
Note that Parallels and VM Fusion can also run other operating systems such as Linux, Unix, OS/2, Solaris, etc.  There are performance differences between dual-boot systems and virtualization.  The latter tend to be a little slower (not much) and do not provide the video performance of the dual-boot system. See MacTech.com's Virtualization Benchmarking for comparisons of Boot Camp, Parallels, and VM Fusion. A more recent comparison of Parallels, VM Fusion, and Virtual Box is found at Virtualization Benchmarks- Parallels 10 vs. Fusion 7 vs. VirtualBox. Boot Camp is only available with Leopard and later. Except for Crossover and a couple of similar alternatives like DarWine you must have a valid installer disc for Windows.
You must also have an internal optical drive for installing Windows. Windows cannot be installed from an external optical drive.

  • Flash player will not install please help.

I am running IE and windows 8. flash works fine for chrome and any other web browser I use. The program I use for work speficially uses IE for maps and they will not load. I have unistalled and tried reinstalling, i tried to use it before when it was already installed on my computer, ive changed all the settings in internet options to what the help page says.  When i try to reinstall at the get.adobe all i get is a the page with the adobe logo,  but where it should have the doanload button and all the information it is just white... please help i need to get this solved before monday.

Flash Player for IE in WIndows 8 is modified and embedded in the browser by Microsoft. You cannot update it or reinstall it from here... ONLY through Windows Update. There's a Microsoft KB update installed that prevents any modification outside of Windows Update for the ActiveX plugin in WIndows 8 or 8.1.
Firefox, Opera and Safari use a standard Flash Player plugin. Chrome (like IE) has its own porprietary build (called "PepperFlash"), which is modified and embedded in the browser by Google. It functions independently of the Standard or ActiveX plugins.
The problem you're seeing ISN'T a Flash Player problem. It's a known problem with Internet Explorer 11, which Microsoft has been aware of since October 18 when they released it. The pages (or in this case the app) can't recognize the browser, so they don't recognize any of the plugins, like Flash Player. So far, Microsoft has made NO indication that they have any plan to fix it soon.
Microsoft's recommendation is to use Compatibility View for affected pages, and "pretend" you're using an different browser. Trouble with that is it has seen limited success at best, and you have to individually enable it for EVERY page that has problems.
Adobe can't fix this because Internet Explorer 11 isn't their product and the problem is in the browser itself, not the plugin.

  • Flash Player will not install - OSX 10.9.5 w/ Firefox 34.0.5

I know this question has been asked before, but since no one seems to have an answer for it I have no choice but to ask again.
I was having trouble posting scores on a gaming website. The game ran fine, and I could log in successfully, but my scores never showed on the player list. The help section of the site suggested uninstalling / reinstalling Flash Player. I was having trouble with Flash elsewhere so I thought I'd give it a try. The uninstall was successful but now Flash will not reinstall. Now instead of a malfunctioning Flash Player I have no Flash Player at all.
The install process goes as it should - the installer uploads to my desktop, I open it, I get the "Adobe Flash Player Installer" window, I double-click in the icon, I'm asked if I'm "sure I want to open it," I click "open," I enter my administrator password, then comes the problem. The next pop-up window has a black background and for about 1/2 second you can see the words "Retrieving Install" and a loading progress bar, then the words disappear and you're left looking at the blank black box. That's it.
I have Ghostery, Lightbeam, and HTTPS Everywhere add-ons on Firefox. I turned Ghostery off through this process.
    Thanks in advance.

Well, good news. I solved it. And it's beyond bizarre that no one has suggested this.
Nested deep, deep, in the the help section is this:
    Still having problems?
If you are still having trouble installing Adobe Flash Player, try downloading the installer directly from the following sites:
Flash Player for Safari and Firefox - NPAPI
Flash Player for Opera and Chromium-based browsers - PPAPI
Apparently Adobe doesn't have a copy of its own software that works? Ridiculous but true. You actually have to download it from your browser's website.
Adobe, you all seriously need to get your act together.

  • Flash Player will not install for use with Firefox

I cannot install Flash into Firefox, To see Flash content, I must use Google Chrome...no problem there. Way back when, I had no problems with Firefox.
Though I am an administrator, I get the "insufficient permissions" message just before the installation is complete. I tried everything suggested in Adobe's help area in that regard.
What I have tried: A new administrator account. Making sure I was running the .exe program and Firefox as an administrator. Delete and reinstall Firefox. Use the uninstall from Adobe for Flash, and then try the reinstall. Disabling all security while doing all of this. Installing in Safe Mode. I spend a few hours on this every month or so.
A new install in Chrome happens. I even downloaded Commodo Dragon, and have the same trouble there...I feel like Chrome is wandering around inside there to keep me from using Firefox!!! I have been using Firefox for years, and still strongly prefer it, but I am about to give up.

Could you check the progress of the install.
    (1) Physical file location
The DLL is deposited in this folder:
    C:\Windows\SysWOW64\Macromed\Flash
    Can you find NPSWF32_11_9_900_170.dll there?
    (2) Registry entry
If the file exists, the next link in the chain is the registry entry Adobe leaves for Firefox to find.
If you are comfortable using RegEdit, that should be here:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\MozillaPlugins\@adobe.com/FlashPlayer

  • Flash Player will not Install-Mac

The specs of my machine are as follows:
I was alerted to the need to install a  new flash version a few days ago.  I attempted, and failed, to achieve the install.   Thereafter, I shut down all my security and firewall programs, unistalled all of my previous versions, restarted the computerr, and attempted it again.  I failed again.  And again.  Repeatedly.  I then uninstalled the 11, installed the 10.5, and found none of my websites would accept the out of date flash player.  Now I have no flashplayer, and no way to aquire a new one.
Here is the specifics of what goes wrong: 1) I download the installer:
    2)I open it:
3)I Click "Install Adobe Flash Player."  It runs quickly for a second, then brings me to 'my update' preferences.  I selecet the first one, as shown in screenshot.  (Im aware this is unlikely to be relevant, Im just  attempting to be thorough):
    4) I Click "next" and the installer begins to run, as a blue progress line crosses the window:
    5) When it reaches the 7% shown (within 2 seconds) it remains there (for roughly 20 seconds).  Then the window cashes, disappearing.  NO error message is shown.  If there was, it would be included.
I have attempted the fix represented in the "troubleshooting" section of the adobe flash program download FRQs page.  It explains that if the installer stalls, I should control click the installer, open the "show contents"selection, and active a sub installer (?) from within.
    The Adobe website representation:
My computer lacks the indicated file.  Instead I have:
I have attempted to open all of the files in 'Contents-Resources.'  No success.
Please Help.  Any assistance would be very much appriciated.  Ive attempted to put every aspect of the problem here as clearly as possible.  I can answer any other questions in the pursuit of success.

  • Flash Player Will Not Install - Keep Getting tn_19166 Message

I think that I've tried just about everything to get Flash Player to install.  No luck.  Whenever I try to download Flash Player 10, it pauses and then comes up with a failed to install tn_19166 message.  I keep getting this.  What is this?  I don't know what I'm doing wrong.  Can someone help (with something that will actually fix this problem)?   I've already tried many of the things listed on this forum.  Thanks in advance.

    WHAT IS WRONG WITH ADOBE???!!!
I have this same problem, keep getting this tn-19166 message:
    - To start with in the SPANISH ("Latinamerica" goes to "Spain" for some ill reason) website it just gives the error message in some SCANDINAVIAN LANGUAGE "Blev ikke installeret. Du kan finde tip til fejlfinding pa http://www.adobe.com/go/tn_19166" (what on earth is that??)  Luckily, by mere chance I happen to speak German so I GUESSED that was a mistake to be inquired.
    - In SPANISH there is NO CUSTOMER SERVICE (at least no telephone for Latin America)
    - Even in English there is NO TELEPHONE SERVICE FOR FLASH PLAYER (why on earth is this the case???)
    - Even the supposedly trouble-shooting web sites DON' FIX ANYTHING, ALL SUGGESTED SOLUTIONS SOLVE NOTHING.   One gets more info from these private users' forae.
    - None of the suggested solutions, neither in customer support nor in the users' forae work.   I have TRIED EVERYTHING, every little solution, however ridiculous it seemed....   NOTHING WORKS, Same problem: "Registry error" (in Spanish: "Error: Error de registro" you get a link with the inscription "encargado cercano de la transferencia directa and after many windows popping up again, guess what...  little "tn_19166" blesses us with yet another joyful visit...  WHAT IS WRONG?
    - Some people report having this problem for over a month, full day and still not getting solutions.
    - By the answers given in the forae e.g. Bwolf [ADOBE] it is evident ADOBE DOESN'T HAVE THE ANSWER AND DOESN'T EVEN CARE TO INQUIRE WHAT IS THE PROBLEM IN THE FIRST PLACE, IT HAS NOT YET DETERMINED WHAT THE PROBLEM IS....
    - HOW ON EARTH IS IT POSSIBLE THAT ADOBE DOESN'T HAVE THE ANSWER?
    - HOW IS IT POSSIBLE THAT NO ADOBE STAFF IS IN CHARGE WITH FLASH PLAYER PROBLEMS???!!!!  What on earth is this???
This is probably what happens when a company, Adobe and its product FlashPlayer, have the MONOPOLY over any area of technoology, in this case of the system of these systems to play animated video on Internet.
WE ARE ONLY ASKING FOR ADOBE TO TELL US WHAT IS THE PROBLEM AND HOW TO FIX IT.  WE are going to fix it, not Adobe of course, we can't even talk to anybody about it...   SUCH A MISERABLE MEDIOCRE, INCONSIDERATE SERVICE!!!

Hi, Was this the Mac Troubleshooting Guide with screenshots that you used? If so, you may want to check it again as it was updated today 12/13/10. If not, you may want to review it.
    http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/865/cpsid_86551.html#prob1=fnctn,
You can also test with each browser at this site and let me know if you can see the Flash logo animate and the version of Flash Player that you have Installed will be displayed. Let me know the results of that.
    http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/
Also, when you reply, please list what browser(s) you use.
Do you know where the Flash files are located? I am not as familiar with Mac as the PC, so hopefully you can help me help you:-)

  • Flash Player will not install.

I have had to make an account for this forum because this particular problem has been driving me insane for a while now. Basically, my laptop needs to update the the latest Flash Player. But everytime I download the file and start the installation it always fails. When it starts it says "Initialising" which reaches 100%, then goes to "Retrieving install". This just stays at 0%, it then says "Installation encounted errors, Actionlist not found". I followed loads of walkthroughs and tips, uninstalled Flash Player (Which I now cannot install again because of this problem), and deleted some files that people said it might have been causing the errors, but that didn't work either. Nothing ever works and I just want to ask actual people instead of having to read a walkthrought that never works. I use Mozila Firefox, and my OS is Windows 7 (32 bit). Can anyone please help me out?

How do I do a clean install of Flash Player?

  • Player will not install in IE

Sorry for the double post but i think i got in the wrong forum the 1st time.
    I use:
    Windows (32 bit)
    IE and Firefox browsers
    Current Flash
My Problem is until Friday Flash worked fine on my system, now it only works in FF, can not get it to install or work at all in IE.  I also have a program (Netobjects) that uses flash to work and no longer does.  I have tried 100's of suggestions on this site and numerous other sites for the last 3 days trying to fix this problem all to no avail!  Does anyone know WHY i can not get Flash to install and run for IE?  I keep getting the messages "activex failed to install"  or "installation failed" or some such message in the numerous times i have tried to install flash, i have uninstalled re installed re booted so many times in last 3 days i am doing it in my sleep.   As i said the FF version installed perfectly.  But in IE when ever I bring up a page with flash i keep getting a message to install it (even though it already is) and it won't install from the IE page or with an install saved on my computer without giving me the above messages.

One thing i did notice was this
Note: The following solution is not required for Flash Player 10 and above. These registry changes were included in the Flash Player uninstaller and can be downloaded here.
Even tho i was running 10 i did download the uninstaller and did that yesterday I think it was.

  • Flash player will not install after uninstalling

    Hi,
I  am trying (unsuccessfully) to install the flash player. To view a website it was necessary to have this, i did have it installed but figured that if the website did not acknowledge it there might have been something wrong with it so i uninstalled it.  Now when I try to install it - nothing happens - it goes to the screen which warns about the security settings affecting its download but no warning message comes up, about installing the active x or anything, it just stays on that page. Im using windows vista and internet exlorer. If anybody could help with this i would really appreciate it.
    Thanks

Download the offline ActiveX installer http://fpdownload.adobe.com/get/flashplayer/current/install_flash_player_ax.exe; save it to disk, then close all browser windows and run the downloaded installer.
