DMS file opening problem for docx & xlsx files.

Hi All,
while opening docx & xlsx files data is getting truncated when they are transmited as external attachments from SRM with ERP PO mail through DMS.
I feel there should be some problem with DMS itself as file format doc, xls are opening correctly as they were mapped with work station type DOC & XLS.
Need your iputs to rectify the problem.
Thanks,
Ramakrishna

Hi Ramakrishna,
Kindly maintain the settings in SPRO->Document Management->General Data->Define Workstation Application (DC30).
For XLS application define file format as *.xlsx and DOC application maintain file format as *docx.
Hope this might resolve ur issue.

  • GOS - Cannot open .docx/.xlsx file programmatically attached to business object

I am supporting an existing web dynpro application that allows users to attach files to a purchase requsition in SAP.  The current solution allows for a successful attachment and display of .doc and .xls files, but gives an error when displaying .docx and .xlsx files.
The current solution follows this logic:  The code identifies the MIME type of the file to derive the file extension.  Then, it converts the document contents from a xstring type to binary via function SCMS_EXTRING_TO_BINARY.  After the conversion, it creates an initial instance of BO 'MESSAGE' and populates the message container with the required parameters.  It creates the container, refreshes the message object, and gets the key of the new message object.  Then, the code populates the BO object_a and object_b and calls the method   cl_binary_relation=>create_link to attach the file.  Lastly, a commit work statement is executed.  Based on the code samples I have seen online, this solution is logically correct.
I am able to successfully attach .doc and .xls files from this web dynpro application, and then later open them from ME53N.  I am also able to "successfully" attach .docx and .xlsx files from the application.  If I view the attachment list in ME53N, these files are visible.  However, when I attempt to open the attachments, Word/Excel gives me an error message "The file cannot be opened because there are problems with the contents.  The file is corrupt and cannot be opened."  If I click OK to bypass the error, it gives an additional prompt "Word found unreadable content in document.  Do you want to recover the contents of this document?  If you trust the source of this document, click yes."  If I click yes, the document opens.
.docx / .xlsx files attached via ME52N will open without issue
.doc / .xls files attached programmatically via this web application open without issue
these are the MIME types associated with .docx / .xlsx both in the web application and in SAP configuration:
    .docx:   application/vnd.openxmlformats-officedocument.wordprocessingml.document
    .xlsx:    application/vnd.openxmlformats-officedocument.spreadsheetml.sheet
Does anyone have an idea why the newer document versions appear to be corrupt when opening?  Does the error from Word imply there is a data conversion issue, even though the .doc and .xls documents are readable?  Are the .docx/.xlsx file types unusable with the   cl_binary_relation=>create_link method, and should instead be used with the function 'BINARY_RELATION_CREATE'?
Any help is greatly appreicated.  Thanks in advance!

I replied too quickly.  This change in providing the file size DID help when I was attaching .docx files. They open succesfully now, as well as, .doc and .xls files.
However, I'm still having the same issue when I try attaching .xlsx files.  Furthermore, now .txt files do not display correctly.  Before passing the file size correctly, they were displaying in notepad.  Now, they open in the SAP GUI and only show characters, rather then the actual text.
It seems like this file size typo was just a coincidence for .docx files.  I'm still looking for help on this issue.  Thanks in advance.

  • Open module for managing property file and environment variables

Looking for an open module for managing property files and environment variables (like CLASSPATH) set in a shell script. For handeling properties (preserving comments, supporting includes, appending new entries, and more) I have looked at SuperProperties from openadaptor but find certain functionality lacking. As for interfacing with common shell scripts/files containing setting for CLASSPATH, JAVA_HOME, other system/application variables another type of object editor is needed. Maybe JFIG?
    Any ideas are greatly welcomed.

You seem wright, you hit a brick wall here with Air to find the location
of the command console on windows...
So in fact I never build an exe tool, but this little problem was a nice
case to test it and I tried it.:
    I downloaded monodevelop
    -GTK# for .NET 2.12.10*
    -MonoDevelop 2.4.2*
       from http://monodevelop.com/Download
created a console project and had an exe in 5 minutes !
You can download the findconsole tool and the projectfiles here:
       http://greencollective.nl/temp/dump/findconsole_monoproject.zip
findconsole.exe will reveal the path/location of cmd.exe on a windows system.

I have a brand new macbook pro 15" with latest Lion. Can anyone tell me why, when I open word or preview etc that multiple files open? For eg if I open a word doc, the last 1-3 docs that I have worked previously on all open. Can anyone tell me why?

You have a choice as to whether or not applications in Lion like Word or Preview (or even Safari) save and re-open previous documents or windows... just hold down the option key while quitting a program and when you re-open it you won't get the previous documents or windows when you re-open the application. You can see this by selecting the open program in the menu bar and when holding down the option key the quit function will change to quit and discard open windows. This feature in Lion is referred to as "Resume" and is great if you want to restart an app and return to what you're doing (for example in Safari re-opening existing windows and tabs from your previous session). You still have the option to close individual windows within an app before quitting and they will not re-open when the app is launched again.
This Resume function is not related to saving your work (a word or text document for example). This is handled by Lion's "Auto-Save" and "Versions" functions. See http://www.apple.com/ca/macosx/whats-new/auto-save.html
Hopefully this is the complete answer you're looking for.

What is the UWLJWF version that you are working with?  There were patch fixes on the UWLJWF component in regards to attachments, and if you let me know your UWLJWF full version, I can let you know what patch fixes this issue.

  • Why are my received file attachments (Office files such as .doc, .docx, .xlsx but also pdf files) corrupted - so that I cannot open them?

For the last month, 90% of the file attachments that I receive by email will not open on my MacBook Pro (2009, running Mac OS 10.7.5). I get assorted messages, but generally saying that the file is corrupt, or the filename contains unacceptable characters. The problem has been generally with Word files (.doc and .docx)], Excel files (.xls and .xlsx) and pdf files.
The bit that I don't understand is that I can open the same email attachments (without any problem) when downloaded on my iMac. And I have recently found that colleagues who received the same emails can open them, and can transfer the files to me (usually by USB stick) … and then I can open them. But I still cannot open the same files received as email attachments on my MacBook Pro.
Which makes me think that the files (email attachments) are somehow being corrupted as they are downloaded?
I installed the Mac OS X Update Combined 10.7.5 in July, so perhaps this was when the problem started? And, although it may be unrelated, around the same time as this problem started, I transferred some files from a colleague's computer on a USB stick and found that the USB stick had picked up a virus/malware, which meant that the stick was dead, and I had to reformat the stick. I scanned my computer (using ClamXav, with the latest updates) and quarantined a file found on the USB stick and on my computer.
Any thoughts on why this might happen, and what I can do to sort it out (as it is making work very difficult - I travel a lot, and rely on being able to open and read files sent from countries all over the world, often by people using old versions of Office software)? I have never had problems in the past, and can't understand why my other computer, and my colleagues, can all open these files, but my laptop will not! Many thanks for any help!

I opened one of the PDF files in notepad and these are the first couple lines:

  • PowerPivot button grayed out for existing .xlsx files

    Hi,
I have been working with PowerPivot in Excel 2010 for some time now with no issue till this morning when any existing report (.xlsx) file does not allow me to go to the PowerPivot window (grayed out mostly. sometimes it shows up and when I click it the PowerPivot
window opens up and gets stuck with a message ' Preparing the Power pivot window .. please wait'). The field list is grayed out too and I am not able to add any new pivot table or chart. Existing slicers are all working. Also new .xlsx files are working (able
    to open PowerPivot).
I reinstalled Office and the PowerPivot add on, tried to disable/enable add on in Excel -> Options and made sure it is not in the 'Disabled' list.
I just tried on a different computer and faced the same problem there too.
Appreciate any help or ideas you can provide.
I am using PowerPivot Version 11.0.3000.0 and Excel version 2010 14.0.6023.1000 (32 bit).
    Thanks.

  • File Open problem

After updating to the most recent security I have the following problems with Text edit and MS Word.
I cannot use File Open to access a file. I get the spinning ball and application not responding. I can double-click the text or Word file and they will open.
Does this make sense? Anyone have a suggestion?

It's more likely a configuration problem in the server itself, it must be configured to open that format for some reason.
You could create a download server which reads the file from disk and outputs it to the browser using the content-type "application/octet-stream". That will force a download box. Search this forum, it is asked almost every day.

  • Embarrassing file open problem

So I'm carrying all my files with me without needing my office on the phone, right? Use mobileme or sugarsync or any of these applications and have QuickOffice or Documents to Go on the phone and I can view most any file or at least the most popular, right?
I was out with a client and wanted to go over some items on a simple spreadsheet - so I opened up my sync apps that shows all my docs stored in a remote location. I open the doc and it doesn't work... why? Because it was a spreadsheet saved as a CSV file. No big deal, right? I've got the latest iPhone, latest OS, have every document application on the iPhone and can open up 20 different types of document types. Cool. I'm the guy the client believes is fluent with technology and have the latest, advanced phone from Apple.
So how do you get a document from one application or email to be opened properly with your application that will open the document on the iPhone? From what I'm reading, iPhone applications are practically worthless unless you have used WiFi to copy your documents into that application's folder or "sandbox" or something like that. This can't be right. If it is, then why do I care whatsoever about all this nonsense about mobileme and cloud computing? It's like water, water everywhere but not a drop to drink? If this is the way applications work, it practically obliterates the whole point about cloud computing and accessibility of your documents in one primary location.
I'm just a little nervous now because I've had my phone for 2 months and this is the first time I've encountered something like this. I'm afraid to think I'll be stuck in this place for two years and hoping I must have had misinformation. I can't imagine trying to copy every file in my office 4 times into 4 separate applications (wasted 3X more space) and having to sync everything manually 4 times every day. This would defeat the purpose of all this sync and mobility.
Thanks to everyone for the help in advance.

+I believe your problem with .csv is that you lack on the iPhone a) the ability to assign a default app for opening .csv and b) a file manager. Right now, there may be no solution; however, there may be work-arounds.+
This is the problem. I get Word documents I cannot edit because while I have QuickOffice and Document to Go on the iPhone, there is no way to get files to these applications via email, mobileme/sugarsync!!!! Perhaps this is why Dataviz isn't providing any support for its iPhone application any more. It's crazy. Thanks for confirming this with me.
+"Yes, I know what csv is; I think I used that format once... on a punch card. If you want apple to support this format, make th comment to apple."+
+"CSV is not popular due to its encrypted formatting."+
What planet are you jokers from? CSV or delimited text files are used ALL the time by popular applications and download of data. Every bank offers CSV. Quicken and Money apps provide CSV files. If you want a list of anything like your domains from your registrar or any other data, there is ALWAYS a CSV option. The only "formatting" is that it places a tab or comma between columns so it can be read universally. It's perhaps one of the simplest formats.
But there is only one point - I have MANY applications on my iPhone that read CSV files. How do I get the application to READ the CSV file from mobileme or sugarsync or from email?
*Here's the other problem - sometimes one reader will do a much better job than another with a PDF, XCL or a DOC. HOW can I define what application will open up these files???*

  • Problems with Excel xlsx files and Presentation Design 2011

    Hello,
I just began using Presentation Design 2011 and have run into an issue and would really appreciate your help.
I have very large files in Excel 2007 format (.xlsx) that I need to import into Presentation Design.  When I try to do so, it automatically opens the .xlsx file as a 97-2003 Excel file, and in hte process, I then lose a large portion of the data (the file is very large, and the space limitations in 97-2003 are not sufficient for all the data I have, so I receive a message about compatability indicating that the data goes beyond the space limit).
I have tried looking online for a fix to this issue, and I cannot find it.  I just installed the service pack 2 patch 8 file, and this still does not work.
Will someone please let me know what I need to download or do to be able to import the xlsx files and maintain them in that format?
    Thank you!
    Curtis

    Hi Curtis,
In the older version of dashboard design 2011, xcelsius 2008, .xlsx(excel 2007) files are imported and converted automatically to excel 2003 format. So there are some compatiability issues with both versions and also size limitations. excel 2003 cannot have more than 256 columns. I doubt same is the case with new version.
Inside the designer data is in excel 2003 format. So you cannot have data more than the limit and some formats. You should only be pulling in enough data to fill your components in dashboard and remove any unnessary information from the spreadsheet . Since dashboards are meant for summary data, importing very large excels files are not recommended.
    Hope it helps you.

  • Open Illustrator template file (open original) for editing?

I know InDesign has an "Open Original" option in the file open dialog box so you can open and edit an indesign template, but I don't see an equivalent in Illustrator.
how would i open the original AIT file so i can make changes straight to it withouth having to resave a new file?

Thanks for submitting this thread--I've been wondering the same thing.
Has anything changed at all in the three years since?  I have about 600 templates to which I need to make a number of small edits, and it would save a lot of time to avoid navigating to the original template to save over it.
    Thanks!

  • Save as/Save does not point to file open location for the file

    Hi,
Working with large number of files it's imperative that I can rely on the software's ability to know where open files are located on disk, so that when needed I can save all open files to their original locations. Unfortunately CS6 wil save all open files to the location of the last saved file!
Even after a power out, or CS6 crash, all the recovered files will point to the directory last document was saved to!!
This means that if I have 10 open files from 10 different folders, they will all be saved to one folder, in which maximum one of the 10 files have been opened from and I will not know where they are if I follow their original file location (e.g from Lightroom import from camera).
This generates a very time consuming manual workaround, in which I must file-by-file open the correct folder in Save as dialogue.
Using "Save As to Original Foder" has no meaning selected or de-selected.
I don't know of any other software that suppresses original file location in save/save as...
How do I disable this unproductive and illogical malfunction?
    Morten

Okay, doing what you outlined, I'm getting the same result.  It's acting like the file you open is a new file that hasn't been saved, and that always defaults to the last saved location.  I'm not saying it should be like this, but I think it is default behavior.  Only advice I can offer is to put in a feature request:

The squeeky wheel gets the oil, so let them know.

I have Adobe Acrobat 9 pro, I tried using Document Processing -> Batch Processing, where I created a new sequence of commands from the available list, but it didn't work out as intended, and it doesn't cover the whole cycle I want.
I hope you could tell me the way to accomplish this.
    Thanks.

This can't be done in a batch process in Acrobat since you can't set an encryption password in this way (you can either set the same password to all files, or have the batch prompt you to enter each one separately).
Also, where are the passwords and email addresses come from? Are they a part of the file? Stored in a text file or database somewhere?

  • CP5 Button WIdget FILE Open problems

    Hi,
I'm running CP5.  I want to have a button that exists on ALL slides, so I used the button widget.  I want it to open a file when clicked.  I keep getttnig "file does not exist errors".  Now I know the file exists because to test, I also put a regular button on slide 1 and had it open the same file, so the file is there and can be opened.  All other aspects of the button widget seem to work (open URL, go to next, etc), but I can't get the file open to work.  What am I missing here?
    Help....
    Thanks,
      Lori

Are you pointing to another CP-file? You have to point to the cptx-file, not to the published SWF.
