Do any of you know how to use NetBeans?

I downloaded NetBeans 4.0 and tried to start a new project and entered my Hello World code in the code window but it said something like "No main class set". I was wondering if someone could post some step by step instructions of how to create a simple program using the IDE or is it not intended for beginners like me?

I did look through that info and it did not appear to tell me what I wanted. However I opened up my book tonight and in the back it had a chapter on using NetBeans. Their version is slightly older but kind of similar so I followed their instructions and I think I got it to work, although it still said "No main class set." After that though it did display the output to the console window.
I would like to ask why there are differences in these IDE's. For example in Eclipse I will type:

And then I will click Run and it ouputs "Welcome to Java!".
But in NetBeans I will see a bit more code like this:

So NetBeans is adding public Welcome( ). Which I think is a constructor?
I'm wondering why one IDE won't show that yet another IDE will? And I don't think the books tell you to type that in either. I'm wondering is that important to know what it is and what it does or should I not worry about it? Actually I'd like to know what every piece does, it makes me feel better knowing.

I just upgraded to Lion. When I import photos it imports the same photo over and over. Not even one of the photos selected!! Do you know how to fix this?

I just upgraded to Lion. I just installed iLife'11 last night. When I import photos into iMovie (version 9.0.4.) , it imports the same photo over and over as if it were the ones I selected. Not even one of the photos selected!! The thumbnais show that unselected photo, if I preview then I just see the preview screen all black.
I even tried making an iPhoto album and importing straight from there. Exact same thing. I have restarted the application, restarted the computer, and googled half-to-death. No answers.
Do any of you know how to fix this?
I am working on OS X Lion (10.7.1) , a 2009 15" MacBook Pro. 4GB Memory. 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo. 4GB Memory 1067 MHz DDR3.

It sounds like you are looking for a program like Typinator.
It isn't free, and the site doesn't specify compatibility with any OS above 10.7.
As of today, the latest release is dated May 29th, 2012.

If you have 10,000 or less, CATT is a reasonable method, but I would suspect that you have far more than that if you're needing to load transactions.
LSMW is probably a better way to go if you have more than 10k, but I am not familiar with LSMW

When using restart firefox you get a folder on the desktop called old firefox data i need to know how to use this folder to get my old firefox preferences back

i've recently reformatted my computer and i've taken the old firefox folder from before the reformat and put it on the new one but i dont know how to use it to restore my old settings

Does anyone know how to use pages so you can export pdfs from the internet and automatically drag words from the document into the file name of the pdf (i.e., author, title of a scientific paper). For example, if I am downloading a paper by smith called "Surgery" that was published in 2002, it will automatically set the file name in the download to smith- surgery 2002. I have heard pages is smart enough to do this.

Pages can export only its own documents. They may be exported as PDF, MS Word, RTF or Text files.
Pages can import (ie. Open a file as, or Insert a file into, a Pages document) documents in several formats, but won't rename the document as you describe. Documents that can be Opened (eg. Text, AppleWorks 6 WP, MS Word files) are converted to Pages documents, and retain their original names, with .pages replacing the original file extension. Files that can be Inserted (generally .jpg, .pdf and other image files) become part of the existing Pages file and lose their names.
It may be possible, using AppleScript, to extract the text you want and to Save a Pages file using that text as the filename, but that would depend in part on being able to identify which text is wanted and which is not.
How will the script determine where the author's name begins and where it ends?
How will the script recognize the beginning and of the title, an decide how much of the title to use in the filename?
How will the script recognize the year of publication?
For papers published in a specific journal, with a strict format for placing each of these pieces on information, or containing the needed information as searchable meta data in the file, this might be possible. But it would require knowledge of the structure of these files, and would probably handle only papers published in a specific journal or set of journals.
Outside my field of knowledge, but there are some talented scripters around here who might want to take a closer look.

Out of the box, to use the function keys as function keys, hold down the fn key when you press the key. Otherwise, you get the picture function on the key. You can reverse this behavior in the Keyboard system prefs.
