Do not allow clipboard redirection - enable/disable per user

I have a requirement to for all users, by default, to enable the following GPO on a Windows 2008 R2 RDS server:
"Do not allow clipboard redirection"
This policy is configurable in both the computer and user policies.
When I enable the policy for the computer only it disables the use of clipboard redirection for all users.
When I enable the policy for the user only (enabling loopback processing on the computer policy as the user is in a different OU to the server) it does not disable the use of clipboard redirection, the setting is grayed out in the RDP settings but it remains
enabled (un-checked).
So it would appear that the setting is only configurable (or will only work) as a computer policy. Can anyone confirm if this is an expected behavior as I have tested in both a lab and live environment with the same result?
Cheers,
Phil

Hi Phil,
Thank you for post in Windows Server Forum.
If you disable redirection of the Clipboard, for example, users connecting remotely to the RD Session Host server on this connection will not be able to redirect their Clipboard in their remote session, even if they select the Clipboard check box on the Local
Resources tab under Options in Remote Desktop Connection.
If you enable redirection of a local device or resource on the RD Session Host server, users will still have to specify that they want to redirect that type of local device or resource by making the appropriate selection on the Local Resources tab under Options
in Remote Desktop Connection.
Note: These Group Policy settings will take precedence over the settings configured in Remote Desktop Session Host Configuration and over the settings specified by the user in Remote Desktop Connection. If both the Computer Configuration and the User Configuration
policy settings are configured, the Computer Configuration policy settings take precedence.

my iPhone 4S running IOS8.1.2 will not allow me to enable Location Services. Wherever I check it is "grayed out". advice?

    Hey AUABB,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
If you're not able to enable Location Services on your iPhone 4s, first restart the device:
Restart or reset your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support
Next, try resetting the location settings on the device to factory default:
If you would like to reset all of your location settings to the factory default, go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset Location & Privacy. When your location and privacy settings are reset, apps will stop using your location until you grant them permission.
Understanding privacy and Location Services on iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch with iOS 8 - Apple Support
If the Location Services option is still grayed out, you may need to back up your iPhone and restore the iOS software using iTunes:
Use iTunes to restore your iOS device to factory settings - Apple Support
    All the best,
    Jeremy

  • How do you Enable/Disable a user's ScreenSaver and set it's time

How do you Enable/Disable a user's ScreenSaver and set it's "Start Screen Saver" time.
I am writting an application in java which uses JNI and a screen saver to lock users out of the computer unless they enter the correct username and password.
If they enter the correct password I need to Enable the ScreenSaver at a specific about of time (time can be changed remotely) so I can "log out" the user.
I need to disable the screen saver after the screen saver runs so that it doesn't run while the java login program is running.
I have this working already on Windows XP but can't find any way to program this on Mac OS X.
    Thank you for any help!

Mail is crashing while processing junk. Try this:
    1. Make sure Mail is not running.
    2. In the Finder, go to HOME/Library/Mail/.
    3. Locate LSMMap2 and move it to the Trash. If you see an LSMMap file there, move it to the Trash too.
    4. Locate MessageRules.plist and move it to the Desktop. If there is a file called MessageRules.plist.backup, move it to the Desktop too. You may also see MessageSorting.plist files there; this is where Mail 1.x stored the rules, and they are no longer used by Mail 2.0, so just move them to the Trash if you see them.
    5. Look for the account folders. The name of each account folder starts with the account type (POP, IMAP, Mac), followed by the account username and the incoming mail server. Open each of the account folders, locate the Junk.mbox folders and move these to the Trash. Note: As a result of doing this, all mail automatically marked as junk by Mail will be lost. If there is a chance that you have legit messages there and you want to preserve them, move them to another mailbox in Mail first -- you may prevent Mail from crashing by shutting down your Internet connection first.
    6. Go to HOME/Library/Mail/Mailboxes/. Locate any Junk.mbox folders there (their name may include the account name in parenthesis), and move them to the Trash. Pay attention to any legit messages that could be there, as in the previous step.
    7. Launch Mail. Go to Mail > Preferences > Junk Mail, enable junk filtering again, and configure it however you wish. You may want to shut down the Internet connection before launching Mail to prevent it from downloading anything until the junk mail filter has been enabled.
If the above solves the problem and you don't have any rules you'd like to preserve or recreating them is not a daunting task, just delete the MessageRules.plist files that were moved to the Desktop and be done with it.

  • Firefox drop down not allowing page redirect is preventing me from auto running and installing software

When I try to install software, Firefox window opens with a drop down box stating Firefox is not allowing page to re-direct. I click on allow, and it goes back to original page. It is preventing me from auto run and installing software. I tried several times, and it just runs me in circles. When I click to allow page re-direct, I click auto run and it send me right back to Firefox page with same thing. Very frustrating.

  • I am trying to enable switch control on my iPad air but it is in disable state it's not allowing me to enable could you please provide me the solution

I Want to setup switch control on my iPad i am trying the same but it is disabled please help me out how do I enable switch control.

Try to narrow this down further, do you use restrictions at all? I don't think that there is anything in the restrictions setting that would disable Switch Control, but I don't use restrictions. From my limited experince with the restrictions settings, the only thing that I can think of that might be making the setting greyed out would be Settings>General>Restrictions>Allow Changes>Accounts. But I really don't think that has anything to do with this.
SInce this is a brand new iPad, try basics. Reset the iPad first. If that doesn't work, reset all settings, you will not lose any data in eituer case, but if you reset all settings, you will have to re-enter all device settings again. Resetting all settings will also restart the iPad so don't be alarmed when that happens.
First, try resetting the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.
If that didn't work, try this. Reset all settings. Settings>General>Reset>Reset all Settings.

  • Cannot enable remote content for a just a few sites. Options box will not allow me to enable this feature.

I am using Thunderbird 31.4.0 on my home-built AMD/Asus based desktop computer using Windows 7 (64) Professional. When I first selected an email from Groupon.com and a few others, it, as all first-time emails do, had the remote content blocked. As I have done for every other blocked site that i want to see graphics, I clicked on the Options button then selected "Allow remote content for [email protected]". I also added their email address to my collected addresses in my address book. Neither action changed the look of the email page or revealed the graphics I was looking for. When I clicked on Tools, Options, Privacy, then Mail Content- exceptions, I see the [email protected] site there listed as Status- allow. When I look at the same email on my Samsung tablet, I see the graphics I'm missing on my desktop.
Very frustrating. Any help would be supremely appreciated.

That are all good points - but Photos is a completely new application. and it is only version 1.
Continue to use iPhoto, girraween; the next update to Photos will probably add a few more features.
iPhoto 9.6.1 is working very well with MacOS X 10.10.3.
The migration let iPhoto installed and also your iPhoto Library will still work with iPhoto.
If you did not uninstall iPhoto, it will still be there in your Applications folder.  And if you had updated to the latest version iPhoto 9.6.1 before you upgraded to MacOS X 10.10.3,  you can simply drag iPhoto back to the Dock from your Applications folder and continue to use it. Double click iPhoto and confirm, that you want to open iPhoto and not Photos.   It is not compulsory to use Photos, while it it still the first release. When you launch iPhoto, you will see a warning, that the iPhoto Library has been migrated to Photos, but simply click the "Open iPhoto" button. The library will still work with iPhoto. ()see: If Photos won't open a library that you already migrated - Apple Support
If your iPhoto version is not iPhoto 9.6.1, you need to update it.
    See this User Tip:
Usually it will work to reinstall instead of updating:
Get iPhoto 9.6.1 if you didn't update before OS... | Apple Support Communities
The main idea is to move the iPhoto app to the Trash, so Spotlight does not see it as installed, reload the AppStore, and then to try to download again from the App Store - from your Purchases tab, not from the main page, since you can neither buy iPhoto nor update it, but you can reinstall, if your AppleID is associated with it.
Meanwhile you may want to send a feature request to Apple using the feedback form. Apple - Photos - Feedback
I hope, Apple will listen and add more features to Photos to make it usable for large Photo Libraries.

  • To access a particular website , I need to use Java 6 u 37, but Firefox will not allow me to enable it since it is outdated. How can I do it?

I have downloaded Java 6 update 37, but Firefox does not recognize it as a valid plug-in, and so will not even give me the option of enabling it. Is there any workaround for this?

Firefox is a 32 bit application, so make sure that you've installed the 32 bit Java program and that Firefox can find its plugins.

  • I am using Telerik Web controls Q4 2006 and noticed linkbuttons inside an ajaxified radgrid do not allow Response.Redirects within the ItemCommand event. Is there a fix for this?

    Technology Telerik radcontrols for asp.net Q4 2006
An ajaxified radgrid that is wrapped around a radpanel and radgrid has property of EnableAjax = true, Response.Redirects do not work. So basically our whole site is broken.
Is there a hot fix for this?

    Hi Charlotte,
You don't say what your version of Windows you have. Assuming XP, go to Start | Run, type DXDIAG and click OK. Click the Sound tab and run the tests to eliminate a hardware problem first of all. If you don't hear anything, check your cables first of all. Also make sure "Mute" isn't checkmarked in your sound setup. You'll find that in Windows Control Panel.
Which browser do you use? If you have Firefox 4, sign up to the HTML5 trial @ http://www.youtube.com/html5
HTML5 is the latest video standard and doesn't require Flash player. Google is in the process of converting all its files to work with the new format. It may solve you problem. If you don't have Firefox 4, you can get it from here: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/fx/
    IE8 doesn't support HTML5.
To clean out your temp files, go to Start | Run, type: CLEANMGR and click OK. Click OK again to start the utility. Tick all the boxes except "Compress old files" because the latter takes too long, and then click OK. You can run this utility any time you wish by the way.
The above steps will hopefully fix your problem. If not, post here again please.

  • Firefox 13 does not allow page redirects in CUPS!!!

I don't want to allow outside sites to redirect pages, but it's ridiculous to have to hit "Allow" every time when using CUPS!
FF needs either an exception list or a ''localhost'' exception.
As in: prevent for all but local site requests.

Yes, I understood your answer, cor-el.
However, we now have something that MAY have something to do with security but is TARGETING accessibility issues.
AND for my problem the only solution is to turn it off altogether.

  • Screen Sharing Disabled Per User?

Hi, this is a repost from OSX usability forums...hopefully someone can help here:
I caught a kid cheating this morning by utilizing Screen Sharing to see what his neighbor was answering on a test. I would like to disable Screen Sharing as it pertains to the user, but I still need to run Remote Desktop and see all machines at the admin level. Each kid has an OpenDirectory account, so would it be possible to block at that level?

Block the Screen Sharing application. If the accounts are OD accounts, just add this to the MCX set and start enforcing an explicit deny on the Screen Sharing app. That should resolve it. The other option, assuming all systems have a unified admin account that the kids don't know, go into System Preferences > Sharing > Remote Management and choose "only these users" and add the local admin account only. That should set up a SACL for the ARD/Screen Sharing process to only allow access for the one user, not for all potential users of the machine.
    Hope this helps

  • Missed printer code, but printer added, but won't eprint...says not allowed but I'm the main user

I installed my Photosmart 7510--no problems, but didn't see that I needed to enter a printer code. I was still able to add the printer but  tried to eprint--error message said I wans't allowed but I was the one who set everything up. This was within a few hours...well within the 24 hour limit. I don't want to disable web services and lose my printer's email address. Not sure if the printer code thing is a problem and not sure what to do about not being able to eprint. Help!

That 5.0a2 version is old as Firefox 5.0 has been on the Beta channel for some time now and is due for release on June 21 next week (despite what some sites wrongly claim).
Firefox 6.0a2 has been getting developed on the Aurora channl for a few weeks now.
You should update to recent Firefox 5.0 beta 7 at http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/channel/ or update when 5.0 is released.

  • We cannot download Firefox. It does not allow us to download as Current User and instead insists we run as Administrator and we do not know the password. Can you help?

If we try to continue as Current User by selecting that button, nothing happens. If we try as Administrator we cannot provide the password and so we fail both ways.
