Document attribute creation

Hi,
we are in need to create a new attribute for the documents.eg: for documents in the blueprint, when i click on the "attribute" button, in the "general" tab, we need a new field (eg: category) and have a drop down with values in it.
I looked in help, and in Note - 350535.
So, in DMWB, IWBSOLAR, IO Attribute, Creation of new attribute >
Question:
1- What do i give in the Table_name and Field_name? Do i need to create a new "Ztable and Zfield"?
2- It also says, it can be taken from the DDIC structure. Can I take a table/field name from the structure already there?
I am stuck in the begining. so, if you have any tips, please advise.

Hello Mehfil,
you can either create your own structure with the corresponding field or using an existing one. If you create your own field you can use your own domain values for assigning the possible values to the attribute. That way you do not have to build a search help. I guess that you have also seen note 805477.

1. If u have enhanced the tcode with some z tables,and that might not be moved properly to prod or not active in data dictonary.
2. u may not be entering proper data to the input fields.
3. please check if u have added any z tables to the std tcode.I am exepcting this prob.u may not moved the table or enhancement properly to prod server,

Add http link to document attributes

Hi.
I'm looking for a way where we can store a http link somewhere in the document attributes so that we can link to an external service management application. Is this possible? I've read that it should be possible to define additional attributes but I am not sure if a http link can be one of those additional attributes.
Is there maybe another way to couple a web link to a specific document?

Hi Tom,
In solution manager for all the documents that we store in solar02 we can create a document link.
1.After loading a document go to the attribute icon of the document.
2.In the attributes you have an option to create a document link-generate URL.
3.Once you clik generate URL,the URL will be in the buffer,so then open IE and give control V(paste) in the address bar.The url for your document will be there in the address bar,which u can call from any extrenal application.

Document attribute ticked on InfoObject which is nav attribute

Hi SDN Community,
We have recently enhanced a query, by removing a natural characteristic Cost Centre Category ZCOBCAT that exists in an infocube, and replaced this with a characteristic which is a navigational attribute - CC Func Code ZCCFUNCCD.
eg. characteristic value with was CC11 is now 11 with this change
On both these characteristics, in the infoObject properties, the "Document attribute" checkbox is ticked.
However, we find that when storing commentary functionality, the comments are applicable against the whole infoObject ZCCFUNCCD. Eg. If the variable input parameters are 11, the comments, are retrieved against 11, and every other value against the ZCCFUNCCD characteristic.
Is it such that navigable attributes enabled against multiproviders will not allow the "Document attribute" against the infoobject to work?
Or is it such i have to enable some other parameter against the Multiprovider or infocube that i have overlooked.

Thank you both for your answers.
As you have indicated, i have verified this:
1) the "Attribute Only" in the Miscallaneous area in the General tab of the infoObject is unticked
2) the "Characteristic is a document attribu" in the Miscallaneous area in the General tab of the infoObject is TICKED as this is what allows storing of documents against the infoObject, and is ticked in the original InfoObject. Are we saying here this should be unticked?
3) ZCCFUNCCD is flagged as a Navigational Attribute in all InfoProviders
4) I have also verified that the Multiprovider has all the assignment correctly ticked for the ZCCFUNCCD is ticked for all the InfoProviders.
What i do find different, is that if i look at 0COSTCENTER, then the attribute ZCCFUNCCD, has a check in the column "Texts of Char." But this should not be causing any issue as this is only using the same description for the Navigational Attribute Display in the queries.
Any other suggestions would be most helpful thanks.

Changing InfoObject to enable document attribute of a characteristic

Hi,
We have a need to change existing infoObject. Currently it's not document attribute and we need to enable "Characteristic is document attribute" in infoobject maintenance.
But, the characteristic that we are trying to change is used all over (around 10 cubes[including basic cubes as well as BPS planning cubes], 5 ODS, MultiCubes etc..) and all these are in production. The same infoobject is being used at many places in planning levels, packages, functions etc..
This requirement is only in BPS planning. we wanted to add a document to each value of this characteristic in the manual planning layout cell.
What steps do i need to follow before and after changing object?
Does changing miscellaneous property of a characteristic
1.inactivates update rules of a basic cube?
2.inactivates master data tables?
3.have any impact on planning cubes?
4.need to re-align / change planning levels,functions,packages etc..in SEM BPS
5. How to deal with infosources, data sources, queries, reports that use this characteristic

The activation has no effect's to
- update rules,
- master data tables,
- infosources or
- queries, reports.
Only ExportSources of the infoobject will be new generated. Then you must be replicate and activate the transferstructur and the transfer rule.

Update Shared Column on Document Set creation

I have a cloud business app connected to sharepoint online,
on certain actions i create a document set in a sharepoint library , the document set i use has a shared column set - i would like to set this value at creation time or just after creation so that any documents added inherit the value.

According to your description, my understanding is that you want to update the shared column on document set creation.
I suggest you create a workflow to do it.
You can create the workflow as the below:
For the workflow Start Options, select “Start workflow automatically when an item is created”.
After the above, publish the workflow.

How to create document attributes in Solman

Hello Experts!
We are trying to create a new document attribute in Solution Manager without success. We have read and followed note 350535. The attribute we created is not visible on any of the documents. We have activated and refreshed the buffers. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Do you attribute names start with Y or a Z?

Using document attribute of caf in web dynpro

Hie Experts,
could somebody give me some information how to use the document attribute of caf in my web dynpro model?
I have created some application and entity services with simple attributes and document attributes.
I imported the model into the corresponding web dynpro project and I am using them with the generated proxy classes. It's working fine, but I don't know how to use the document attribute.
If I want to attach a document to an entity service, do I have to upload the file an fill the fields of document node or is there any operation in a proxy class where I can pass an InputStream and it is handled automatically?

You make a very good point. And it is probably the way that we will go. However, my task is to evaluate Web Dynpro and Visual Composer for our needs. Especially since the graphing capabilities in Web App Designer are limited for our needs. We will, at some point, have a need to combine warehoused information in BI with real-time data in R/3. I'm anticipating that this is where Web Dynpro will be useful for us. Therefore, my questions as stated regarding Web Dynpro. I just find it strange that none of the SAP documentation elaborates on the topics that I am concerned with, even though tantalizing capability summaries are dangled throughout.

InDesign is placing a drop shadow on the art I place on documents in creation stage and need to stop that from happening.

Then I guess you need to provide a LOT more detail about what is happening. Do you use object styles? Have you checked to be sure that drop shadow is not active with no object selected?

Defualt Output Types on Billing Document Upon Creation

Need to know if it is possible through configuration to default specific output types on a Billing Document upon creation. We have created a few SAP Smart Forms for print for SD Billing Documents that typically we would have users set up via transaction VA02 Goto>Header>Output. We have run into issue though becuase these users cannot have access to VA02, so we are looking for an alternative to default the output types so that from initial screen on VA03 the can go to Billing>Issue to Output and select the type. If nt standard configuration does anyone know if this has been done via custom dev.

If you use VV11 and make the output type default for the given sales order type (key combination)then there is no need to maintain it every time in va02, you can get the output directly in the VF03 >sales document >issue output to.

i) Is there any performance impact on turning on document attribute and letting 250 users enter comments/annotations. From my understanding, these comments are stored in BDSPHI010 table and do not increase/decrease the data-target size. But during query execution, does it read the comments and cache it or it is read only when they click on the comments icon?
ii) If there would be an performance impact, can you provide some insights?
iii) As far as authorizations are concerned, users should have access to S_BDS_D and S_BDS_DS roles to enter/delete comments? Is this true?

FDA regulated client document attribute audit trails impac

We are a FDA regulated client and they have concerns that the document
attribute data/audit trails may be lost or modified with future SP
stack updates or upgrades to future versions of SolMan.
Do you know of any limitations or risks with this topic?
We are required by FDA to do a Validation in Solution Manager: The
system must have the capability to preserve audit trails, business
process hierarchy linkages, and document history when upgrading to a
new version of Solution Manager, since we can not prove this with a
test script (we would have to do a test upgrade to test it) we are

I made a ClassObject 'Division' that is a subclass of the
oracle.ifs.beans.Document,
and I want to change the content of a Division instance while it
is being created because I can't change the editor (Epic) that
creates this object.
(and it has to be at creation time!)
To do this, I made a server-side class S_Division that
implements the extendedPreUpdate method.
I was able to get the content of the object when that method was
called for the 4th time
and that way I could change some attributes of that object that
depend on that content.
My problem is that I need to change the origal content into
something else using that extendedPreUpdate method
and I don't know how.
The bean-side Document class has an easy method setContent
(DocumentDefinition) for changing the content of its instances,
but the server-side S_Document doesn't!
So how can I do that using the server-side classes?
Maybe using the update(OperationState,
S_LibraryObjectDefinition) method?
Can someone give me some help or an example that shows me the
way?
