Document links and Tables in a content area

Hello,
1. I'm having problems with text items in a content area. I'm trying to make a link to a document in a text item but I only get a 'Page can not be found'. I know I have to change the httpd.conf file settings but so far I have not been able to set it up correctly. How should the excact line look?
In this case I whant to put all my documents in a folder tree in the 'portal_home' directory. For instense:MHC(root folder)/HR/employees.doc or MHC/Finance/Strategy.xls
2. Why is it not possible to make 'invisible tables' in a text item? This way its possible to control the text mutch more and also (as in my case) include pictures within the text. If you want to produce a nice Intranet, the only way with portal (so far) is to make text items, becurse these are the only ones that you can display directly in a folder area and keep the navigation bar to the left. This way the users wont get lost in all the pages and folders.
The problem is this:I want to use the style I've made on all my folders (this way it's easy to change the apperance of all the folders in just moments) BUT if I put a table in the text item (html code) then suddenly portal takes the default settings of the browser instead!!? So if I have set my browser to Arial 15 this is the text I se instead of the text in my style.
Please , do anyone have a suggestion?

I assume you are trying to put an anchor tag in a text item, that points to a document stored elsewhere in the Portal repository.
Use a direct access URL (search the online help for info on these) to construct the link to the document. You can use a relative URL by leaving out the "http://server.domain:port" part of the URL - e.g. {a href="/pls/portal30/docs/FOLDER/MYROOTFOLDER/MYSUBFOLDER/MyDocument.DOC"} - I'm using {} here instead of <> because real tags get messed up in these forum messages.
The Portal FAQ explains how to use httpd.conf to define a redirect directive.

You need to create a custom item type, with a procedure that displays a link to do the rating.
For an example of a custom item type procedure, see Re: personal oracle 9i
Note that the primary key for an item is (masterid, id, caid, language).

The 'Edit folder' link doesn't appear in content area portlet (URGENT)

Hi! I made three content areas, and published them as portlets in a page. However, when I enter the page as an authorized user, I don't see the 'Edit folder' link on any content area portlet. But if I enter to any of the content area pages with the same user, I see the link
Is this a bug? What could be the reason?

try this...
Edit the page where you added the portlets. Click the edit defaults link next to each of the portlets and scroll down to make sure the show Edit Link checkbox is checked. I don4t see any Edit Link checkbox when I edit the portlet's defaults!!

Inter-site navigation... link to open in the content area

Wanted to know how people are managing inter-site navigation. Suppose I have a set of links defined in the LHS area by using a HTML portlet. URLs on all these links are internal links which can be accessed as http://<hostname>:<port>/pls/portal/url/page/<pagegroup|page>.
Is it possible to define a portlet on the RHS i.e. content area where I can open these URLs ? Will the URL and/or Web Clipping help in any way ?
I can define the URLs on these links as
http://<hostname>:<port>/pls/portal/url/page/<pagegroup|page>?url=<page to show> and <pagegroup|page> is the page which holds the URL container. The URL container will be parameterized to bind to the url value.

Check out this posting from a while ago that gives a suggestion on how to accomplish this.

How to send a document link and track and receive analytics?

I was under the impression that if I subscribed I would be able to do this - post a link to an uploaded document and track it as it is viewed.
I don't have the email addresses of strangers that will be clicking the link, so the email option is moot.

You may use Forms Central then, you may pose link on your website or on social networking website. Collect form responses with FormsCentral | Adobe Acrobat XI

Firefox 3.6.2 Mac OS 10.6 go to craisglist or other web pages click on email address link and 1000s of empty pages are spawned. Have to kill process to shut down firefox.

When using Firefox version 3.6.3 on Mac OS 10.6 experience the following scenario:
Example 1 go to http://www.craigslist.org/about/sites
click on any listing/classified ad
click the link to email the owner.
= 000's of blank tabs are than launched. =
Found it necessary to kill Firefox in process list to shutdown.

Every time Firefox opened

You may be having a problem with some extension or plugin that is hindering your Firefox's normal behavior. Have you tried disabling all add-ons (just to check), to see if Firefox goes back to normal?

Depreciation GL A/C balance and table ANLC-NAFAG value are different

Dear All
I have faced a problem after charging depreciation I found that the balance of Depreciation General ledger account is higher than the value of Table ANLC-NAFAG
How can I find out the reason of this difference and what is the table link between BSEG/BKPF with ANLC/ANLP or any other asset table to find out this difference of depreciation charged, please advice

their may be some posting for the FY 2010 in AA so I can not close FY 2010 in AA.
I have compare with ANLP and FS10N GL Balances of depreciation a/c and Accumulated Depreciation Account and found( GL Balances are equal in debit and credit side) that differences arrived in the posting period 03 only.
we have posted depreciation for the posting period 12 also. please advice how can I rectify it.

Create document links and attributes in Portal KM

Hi,
I'm not sure if this has been done before but it's an interesting issue:
We have an external Open Source Document Management System with which a large number of documents and graphics are managed (including translations). This DMS also contains vast amounts of META data for each object.
We now want to generate URLs in EP6 (in a repository) for these documents and graphics that are managed and stored in the external DMS to provide access for portal users (yes we want to keep the DMS).
The META data found in the DMS is to be used to provide search functionality in the portal and create Taxonomies.
N.B.: It's not possible to migrate the Objects (Documents and Graphics) and their META data from the DMS to the Portal for several reasons - nor does there exist an interface of any kind between the Portal (SAP) and DMS (Open Source). However we are able to extract the META data and construct access details (i.e. a URL to the DMS).
Anyone come across an issue like this? We would be thankful for any leads on documentation, hints, tips, possible solutions, etc.

Does the DMS support webdav - i.e. is it a webdav server? If it is then you could probably have URL's directly to the documents in the DMS or even integrate the files stored in the DMS into the portal by adding it as a webdav repository.

Row-level Security Filters applied to Columns and Tables only? no Areas?

Good day all,
Just quick question (obiee 10.3.3.2) - Is there a way to edit row-level security using Whole subject areas (instead of bringing in the individual Fact tables and applying filters by copying/pasting them).
Follow up question - if I have nested facts in presentation layer (ones preceding with "-" - do I specifically add them to conditions, or would they be inherited by only including parent fact)?

I'm not sure how that would help; by using the Faculty_ID Session Variable I can identify the CRN and Term of all courses a faculty member is teaching. But I don't think that has to do with the problem I am having?

Moving a folder, Linking between content areas

I have 2 problems:
1) So far we developed all our content in a single content area. We would now like to split the information into multiple content areas. The MOVE or COPY command on the folder only allows me to copy within a content area. I have hundreds of documents to move. Is there any way i can move a folder to a different content area?
2) What is the best way to link a folder from 1 content area to a folder in another content area? I found that the FOLDER LINK ITEM allows me to connect only within a content area.
(I would prefer not to use an URL since the content publishers may not be able to construct complicated paths or the paths may change leading to broken links.)

1) The only way to do this currently is to create an export of the content area, import it back into the portal and remove the duplicate content. We are planning a bulk action feature in a future release that would allow you do to selectively copy/move one or more folders into a new content area.
2) Currently folder links are scoped within a content area; the only option is to link to the folder through a URL folder type. If you use the generated URL that contains the folder ID, you shouldn't run into any problems if the target folder is moved. I have submitted an enhancement request to extend the folder link to 'remote' folders outside of the 'home' content area.

Opening KM links in content area instead of new window?

Hi,
We're having problems with the Resource Renderer option: Target Window Type which we - according to SAP's official documentation - need to set to self for KM links to open in the content area instead of popping up in a new window. However, this does not seem to work.
Tried looking through the already existing threads of the forum and there are several older threads concerning the issue but no solution (that I could find, anyway).
Any suggestions? We're on 7.01, SP 6.

A short update: The parameter actually works when setting it for the ressource renderer of one of SAP's standard layout-sets, for instance 'AdminExplorer', but it only works for layout-sets including both a tree view and a folder view navigation (and in this case only for the folder view navigation). I cannot seem to get it to work on simple lists! It seems that the Layout Controller defined on the layout-set has control over the "Target Window Type" parameter...
But I still need it for simple lists. HELP.

I haven't tried to develop a new layout controller, but as I recall the layout controller only controls the areas you divide your collections into. I don't think is has anything to do with the rendering of documents (and navigation). But perhaps the different areas of a layout controller can be referenced.
I would investigate the following:
1)
You could consider developing a property renderer (and reference that in the displayed properties of the collection renderer) that opens the document in the content window. If navigation is controlled by portal events, the back button in the browser will not work, thus disrupting the user experience.
2)
Examine the AdminExplorer layoutset to see how it works, and see if the coding can be transferred to your need. You will need a developer for this task.

Links in the content area

Hi, we have a iview that have a list of links, the iview is diplayed in a page in the content are on the right.
Some of the links are open in a new window but other we want to display it on the content area, we want that the navigation panel will be equal but the link will be in the content area.
We want that the behaviour will be like when you push a option in the detailed menu navigation.
We have updated com.sap.portal.navigation.contentarea.par component with

Hi Nash,
It is NOT true that Related Links always open in a new window.
It is very important to know where to change the Launch in New Window property.
Let's say I have a role R1, with W1, with I1, and I1 has a related link to I2. You need to do the following:
Open W1.
Select I1 and open for editing.
Set the Display to Related Links. This screen shows the iView that is the related link (I2).
Select I2 and click Edit.
Change Launch in New Window to Display in Content Area.
For some reason, when you select an iView to be a related link, this property is changed in the related item delta link. This seems like a bug.
You cannot change the property in the original iView.
NOTE: The above is for SP13. There may be some differences between SPs, but my assumption is that they work the same.

How do I figure out if the current user has rights to view the item or not? Not all users may see all these URL's of course.
I know how to find the current user, but I don't know how to limit this query to only those URL's granted to the current user.
Could anybody please point me in the direction of the correct table/tables to use in this query?

I've found several docs in the PDK. I've also found a reference to the WWSEC_API, function has_privilege.
But I would like to know in which table I should look to check for rights of users and groups.
In content area X, I have several URL's, each URL has several usergroups that can access the URL. How do I know which URL's to display when user Y belonging to usergroup Z logs in?

In the previous version of Portal when you created a content area item of type text. there were four display options
1) Item Displayed Directly In Folder Area
2) Link That Displays Item In Folder Area (i.e on a page for a folder)
3) Link That Displays Item In Full Browser Window
4) Link That Displays Item In New Browser Window.
In release2 of protal the option number 2) is removed.
We were using option 2 as we added different portlets and style sheets on content area page because of which we were able to get the desired page.
Now in the new release this option is not there.
Any pointers to the issue.
or Is there a default style and page design which is used while opening the details of the text and whether that default can be modified or not?
