Documentation for modelsupprt2.dll

Hi,
I need to modify parallel execution model. Where do I find documentation modelsupport2.dll?
thanks
CT

Comteker,
Having done substantial modifications to the Modelsupport2.dll in the past (circa TestStand v2), I have not run across any documentation on this module, other than the comments in the C source code itself. If they've generated any since then, I haven't run across it. I don't believe it's changed much since TestStand v2, other than to update the TestStand API calls to the more robust function set, and removing deprecated functions. The bad news is that NI doesn't document the source they provide all that well (no version history, or function descriptions w/ interface info), but the documentation of the API calls used in this DLL are fairly well documented.
If you're trying to figure out how it works, my suggestion is to generate a debuggable version of the DLL, and run simulations, tracing into the dll at the points you're trying to understand better.
Hope this helps.

  • How can I include multiple limits in the sequence file documentation for custom step type?

    Hi,
I have a custom Step Type that contains Measurements property under Results. Its type is Array of NI_LimitMeasurement.
I would like to see the values in the sequence file documentation like NI_MultipleNumericLimitTest type.
Is there any trick to do that?
    Thanks,
    Andras

    Hi Andras,
I have made  a slight change to the sequencefile 'docgen_txt.seq'.
In the Sequence 'Step Doc' is a section which handles MultipleNumericLimit step type. There is a precondition check on the step 'Add Multiple Numeric Limits' if the step is of type 'NI_MultipleNumericLimit'. As your step type is based on the MultipleNumeric Limit type, I have just removed this precondition and just relied on the existence of Parameters.Step.Result.Measurement. Equally you could add a new section in this sequence to handle your Custom Step Type which is only called when the precodition match your type name.
Now when you run the DocGen tool it handles your custom step type.
Find attached my modified sequencefile 'docgen_txt.seq'.
Just copy the contents of '..\National Instruments\TestStand 3.5\Components\NI\Tools\DocGen' to the User folder. Then place the attached file in the User\Tools\DocGen overwritting the version that is in that folder.
Then launch TestStand and try it out on your sequence file.
If you are using the html version, then you will have to make the same change into Step Doc sequence of the docgen_html sequence file.
    Hope this helps

  • Code Signing for 3rd Party DLLs in MPR certfication

    Dear Team,
I am currently performing MPR test with my Web Application using Windows Server 2012 R2 platform.
While verifiying test results, i got failed in the validating digital signature for 3rd party binaries(DLL).
The DLLs are Ajaxcontroltoolkit.dll, interop.Excel.dll etc.,
Whether Signed DLLs are exists for Ajax Libraries?? If Signed DLLs exists for Ajax Libraries, is it advisable to request Microsoft support team for getting Signed DLL through mail? (or)
Can i include this point as a waiver in document during test results submission??
Regarding Interop DLL's is it advisable to include DLL's in waiver request document??
    Kindly review and suggest comments

    Hello,
When an MPR Test fails due only to 3rd party binaries, please create a Test Results Package, upload to MPR site, complete and send a waiver for review.
List all failing binaries in the waiver, grouping by their respective owner.
    Thank you,

  • Get a license for using craxdrt.dll and crpe.dll

    Hello,
I posted a question about the difference between the .Net Runtime and Crystal Report print engines :
Print in text mode to detect escape sequences
The response was : the .Net Runtime print engine can't print in text mode and you're not licensed to use the craxdrt.dll.
We need to print in text mode.
So, is there a way to get a license for the use of craxdrt.dll and crpe.dll ?
    Or any suggestion ?

    Hello Philippe,
The RDC COM components (craxdrt.dll is one part) were retired after CR XI R2 (v11.5). Unfortunately, you can't get a license for the CRAXDDRT.dll that is part of CR2008. The CRAXDDRT.dll is used for report previewing from with the Visual Studio IDE.
The CRPE is the underlying engine, and there's no public API for making direct print engine calls.
As for your underlying question - printing in "text mode" with the CR.NET SDK - I don't have any suggestions. Maybe others can respond to that on your original thread.
    Sincerely,
    Dan Kelleher

  • Wrapper for invoking external DLL-function

    I want to run a Host-Command (e.g. rwrun60 report=xyz.rdf batch=yes) invoked by a trigger that fires when a new record is inserted.
I wrote a DLL which has an exported function that accepts a commandline (with parameters) and invokes the command via ShellExecute.
The problem is, that when i invoke the PL/SQL-wrapper, the DLL-function is properly run, but the program i want to run is only visible in the taskmanager(NT) and does nothing.
So what i need is a correct wrapper for the function:
    DLL-function: OExecSysCmd(cmdLine *char)
    Wrapper:
    PROCEDURE OExecSysCmd(p_SysCmd in char)
    IS EXTERNAL
    NAME "OExecSysCmd"
    LIBRARY demolib;
    Thanks in advance
    Dannys

    Hi Russ,
with "invoke an external dll" I mean that I have to wite a log file to register my fdk client events and to do this I have to use an external dll wich exposes some functions to write to a common log file. I have imported the external dll in my client project and at the beginning of client code I have included the dll header file:
    #include "LogDll.h"
Then I've tried to invoke a LogDll function (not within F_ApiInitialize (), but in a custom dialog box event):
    int retval=LogDllFunction();
The code compiles, but if I start FM, I receive the message error. If I comment the line above, FM and my client start normally.
    Thanks,

  • Question about the Documentation Tags for Source Code

    Hello,
I have a question about CVI's automatic source code documentation. My problem is that is seems like you need to write all documentation for a specific tag on one line. If you don't, a line break will be inserted when the documentation is displayed. Suppose I want to write a large amount of documentation for the function itself, using the HIFN tag. If I don't want linebreaks to be forced in the documentation, I need to write all this documentation on one single line, which kinda messes up my code. If I split the documentation over several HIFN tags, the documentation displayed to the user might look messed up because of all the linebreaks. Is there any escape character I can put at the end of a line, allowing me to split the documentation of several HIFN lines without forcing linebreaks in the documentation?
    Thanks!

This information is certainly useful. Note, however, that it can also be found in the documentation
    Tag
    Description
    /// HIFN help text
Specifies the help text for the function. Use multiple /// HIFN tags to display help text for the function on separate lines. To separate help text with an empty line, use /// HIFN on a line by itself. You also can use HTML tags, but you must enclose the tags in <HTML><BODY></BODY></HTML> tags.
    Example
/// HIFN SampleFunction returns the value of a control.
int SampleFunction (int controlID, ctrlType controlType, char label[], double *value)

  • Best practice for including additional DLLs/data files with plug-in

    Hi,
Let's say I'm writing a plug-in which calls code in additional DLLs, and I want to ship these DLLs as part of the plug-in.  I'd like to know what is considered "best practice" in terms of whether this is ok  (assuming of course that the un-installer is set up to remove them correctly), and if so, where is the best place to put the DLLs.
Is it considered ok at all to ship additional DLLs, or should I try and statically link everything?
If it's ok to ship additional DLLs, should I install them in the same folder as the plug-in DLL (e.g. the .8BF or whatever), in a subfolder of the plug-in folder or somewhere else?
(I have the same question about shipping additional files too, such as data or resource files.)
    Thanks

I probably should have posed this question here before I delved into writing Java to get data for reports, but better late than never.
Our ERP is written in COBOL. We have a third party ODBC which allows us to access data using a version of SQL. I have several Java sources compiled in my database that access the data and return something relevant. The Java sources are written in a procedural style rather than taking advantage of object oriented programming with attributes and methods.
OO is a choice not a mandate. Using Java in a procedural way is certainly not ideal but given that it is existing code I would look more into whether is well written procedural code rather than looking at the lack of OO.
Now that I am becoming more comfortable with the Java language, I would greatly appreciate any feedback as to best practices for incorporating Java into my database.
My guess is that it would be helpful to model the ERP "tables" with Java classes that would have attributes, which correspond to the fields, and methods to return the attributes in an appropriate way. Does that sound reasonable? If so, is there a way to automate the task of modeling the tables? If not reasonable, what would you recommend?Normally you create a data model driven by business need. You then implement using whatever means seem expedient in terms of other business constraints to closely model that data model.
It is often the case that there is a strong correlation between data models and tables but certainly in my experience it is rare when there are not other needs driven by the data model (such as how foreign keys and link tables are implemented and used.)

  • How is it possible to make sure that LV uses the same thread for several threadsafe DLL calls?

    Hello,
i have a thread safe DLL and most functions are called from serveral threads from the LV apllication without problems.
In case of an error i have to call an error handler function in this DLL (like WinAPI: GetLastError()) from the same thread which has called the function that failed before.
I can't use the user interface execution because some functions need a long execution time and i don't want to balk the user interface.
All other executions than the user interface execution have more than one thread and in most cases the DLL function calls were executed from different threads - so the error handling doesn't work...
    Any idea?
    Thanks for your help!

    Hmmm....
How about wrapping all of your dll calls in a single VI (or an Action Engine ) and make sure the VI's thread is NOT set for "Same as caller".
"Threadconfig.vi" (sp?) will also let you dictate the number of threads associated with an execution system. Set your target thread for "1".
    Not sure on the above.
Please correct me if this is wrong!

  • Is there a way to automate generating the documentation from a function panel?

We have some DLL projects which contain function panel (.fp) files.  We link a help file to the DLL so that we can call up the help file when using TestStand.  As part of the build, we have to manually run Options -> Generate Documentation -> HTML.  Then we load the .hhp file into the Microsoft tool HTML Help Workshop and select File -> Compile to generate a .chm file.  Then in LabWindows/CVI we can build our DLL with links to the .chm help file.
Has anyone been able to automate this?  It seems like it would be convenient to generate the help file in the Pre-build actions section of the Build Steps for the project.
Note: this slightly more convoluted process of generating the .chm file replaces the old method of generating a .hlp file from within LabWindows/CVI.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Thanks, Luis.  After generating the ActiveX interface to the CVI server, I was able to write a small command line program that calls GenHtmlHelpFromFPFile.
To generate the .chm file from the .hhp file, there's an executable provided by the HTML Help Workshop (hhc.exe).  It only seems to work if you run it from the HTML Help Workshop directory, though.  We have the following Build Steps:
    cd "C:\Program Files\HTML Help Workshop"
    hhc.exe %CVIPROJDIR%\name_of_fp_file.fp

  • API call for Sequence vs DLL in report options

I've got my code to automatically use a text file no matter the selection of the Report Format.  But what I've found is that if DLL is selected, there are certain parts of my code that do not run versus when the Sequence is selected under "Select a Report Generator for Producing the Report Body".  Which makes sense to me since I want the callbacks to run.  But, I can't find out where in the API to set it to Sequence so that I can ensure my callbacks get run.
    Thanks in advance.

It actually wouldn't be done through the API.  That info is stored inside of a variable during RunTime.  Ultimately it is stored in the ReportOptions.ini file but that gets read in during the ReportOptions callback.  The one you are looking for is called Locals.ReportOptions.BodyGenerator in the TestUUTs Entry Point and the Single Pass entry point.  You need to change that variable to Sequence instead of DLL.....I'm assuming.  I didn't try it yet.
    Hope this helps,

  • What is the location for Sandoxed solution dll

    Hi All,
Can anybody please tell me what is location for Sandboxed dll. Where does it get save?
How does it work in office 365? is it saved in Database rather than file system?
If saved in database, how could the database will allow a .dll file in DB?
    Please let me know.

    Hi,
If I am getting your issue correctly, You should follow following steps:
    1) If you are using Visual Studio. Publish your solution. It will prompt you for the location to save .wsp file.
    2) Go to O365 site settings. Then go to Solutions.
    3) Upload your saved .wsp file over there.
    4) Create new site page and add web part. Add your uploaded .wsp/webpart to that page.

  • How do I use more than four PDOs when working with NI-Industrial Communications for CANopen?

When I call CANopen TPDO Create.vi to create TPDO objects I can only input PDO1 through PDO4. How do I work with more than four PDOs?
I see the other forum thread using an older version of CANopen, but it does not appear to directly translate into the newer NI-Industrial Communications for CANopen.
    http://forums.ni.com/t5/Automotive-and-Embedded-Networks/PDOs-on-a-CANopen-network/m-p/405001?requir...

    Hi wireman,
A good resource for CANopen is available here.  That page explains that typically in the CANopen standard, there are only 4 predefined PDOs in each direction (transmit and receive).  To use extra PDOs, additional configuration is required.  The configuration of the predefined PDO Channels refers to the COB-ID that they are linked to by default.
According to the LabVIEW help files, the COB-ID is 'calculated' by adding the value of the PDO Channel and the Node ID, if the COB-ID is zero.  However, if the COB-ID is explicitly defined, then LabVIEW will ignore the calculation provided by the Node ID and PDO Channel.  So, if you need more than the four PDOs, you'll need to use the COB-ID input to differentiate which channel is being referenced.
I hope this clears some things up, and please don't hesitate to ask for more advice.
