Documentation for declare cursor in table function

Thanks in advance to all,
Could anyone pont me to doc about declaring cursor for table function?
For example something as:
CURSOR cur_test IS
SELECT S.*,       OT.par1
FROM  table S, TABLE (pak.tabfunc(&par0,S.col1) ) OT'Cause having problem in compilation (ORA_904 invalid identifier)
Thanks

Thanks William for reply,
Is that part of the code? No, It was only for example.
my problem is:
I don't understand, I have success in SQL
begin
  FOR x IN
    (SELECT s.*,       OT.*
    FROM  tablex S,
     TABLE (pkg.myfunctpipilined(x1,x2,x3,s.col1) ) OT
    WHERE ........
  ) LOOP
    dbms_output.put_line('Fetching.... ' || x.xxxxx);
  END LOOP;
END;but, when i insert that in a procedure I get ORA-904 identifier on pkg.myfunctpipilined
Thanks again for your time, I appreciated, I keep on to try and looking for
ps. pkg.myfunctpipilined is pipelined function in Package based on Table's Object

  • Documentation for RS_EU_CROSSREF (where-used list function module)

    Hi,
I'm trying to understand how to use the "RS_EU_CROSSREF" function module.
It corresponds to the where-used list function you find in so many SAP screens.
I need to use it in a program, but I can't find any good documentation about it.
I'd like something that tells me what values I have to fill in parameters.
For example, how to search form "TEST_FORM" in all programs ? or even in a given program, I didn't get how to restrict the search to a program...
    Thank you for any help,
    Quentin

    Hi Gurpreet Singh,
table cross does not find any function modules although I know for sure that there are function modules calling the function module.
Please post an example of how to find function modules calling a function module with RS_EU_CROSSREF.

  • ORA-12714 error using NVARCHAR2, REF CURSOR and TABLE FUNCTION

    Hello,
we have tested this simple script on all the following versions of Oracle: 9.2.0.3, 10.2.0.1.0 , 11.1.0.6.0 - but we got the same error in everyone of these.
CREATE OR REPLACE TYPE Rec_Prova IS OBJECT(
        Id INTEGER,
        NodeValue NVARCHAR2(50)
    CREATE OR REPLACE TYPE Tab_Prova IS TABLE OF Rec_Prova;
    DECLARE
        CurProva SYS_REFCURSOR;
        varTable Tab_Prova := Tab_Prova();
    BEGIN
        OPEN CurProva FOR
            SELECT Id, NodeValue FROM TABLE(CAST(varTable AS Tab_Prova));
END;The error is: "ORA-12714: invalid national character set specified"
We know that changing the type of NodeValue from NVARCHAR2 to NCLOB it works, but the performances are very poor.
Therefore this solution is not acceptable for us.
We also know that if the character set of the database is set to unicode (NLS_NCHAR_CHARACTERSET = AL16UTF16) we can use the VARCHAR2 for store also the unicode characters and the problem is solved. But some of our customers can't change the settings of theirs databases... moreover, in this forum someone says:
"To all dba's who try to change the NLS_CHARACTERSET or NLS_NCHAR_CHARACTERSET by updating props$ . This is NOT supported and WILL corrupt your database. This is one of the best way's to destroy a complete dataset. Oracle Support will TRY to help you out of this but Oracle will NOT warrant that the data can be recoverd or recovered data is correct. Most likely you WILL be asked to do a FULL export and a COMPLETE rebuild of the database."
Is there any workaround except the two that I have mentioned?
    Thank you in advance.
    Edited by: user11929330 on 22-set-2009 7.50

ORA-12714: invalid national character set specified
Cause: Only UTF8 and AL16UTF16 are allowed to be used as the national character set
Action: Ensure that the specified national character set is valid
So it looks like that you should change the character set or go for NCLOB (and if you're on version 11, maybe securefiles gives you the performance you want).

  • OWB9.0.4 Table Function

Can someone post valid code for use as a table function. It's a new concept to me and I can't seem to come up with a function I can use by the Table function operator.
What I'm trying to do is populate a calendar table (date, month, year, quarter, etc.) by providing a start date and an end date.

    Paul,
Here is the link to Table Functions documentation, from the PL/SQL point of view, together with some examples:
    http://otn.oracle.com/docs/products/oracle9i/doc_library/release2/appdev.920/a96624/08_subs.htm#19677
The current implementation of table functions in OWB is limited - it will be improved in the next versions. You will have to write and deploy the table function manually to the target database. Then you will have to create a table function operator whose signature (input and output parameters) match the function you created in the target environment (otherwise, you will have problems deploying it). At the moment, the input parameter can be one or more ref-cursors type and/or a scalars, while the output will be a table type.

  • ADF and MSSQL 2005 problems - FOR UPDATE clause allowed only for DECLARE C

    Hi all.
I have a legacy application which uses MS SQL server 2000 / 2005. I've started to build up a new version of this application using JDev + ADF stack.
Everything went ok until I've tried to update some data in a Form. I'm getting this error:
com.microsoft.sqlserver.jdbc.SQLServerException: Line 1: FOR UPDATE clause allowed only for DECLARE CURSOR
Can someone figure out what's wrong?
    1) In a MSSQL server connection string, normally we define the 'SelectMethod' parameter to 'cursor', as follows: jdbc:sqlserver://$host$:$port$;databaseName=dbserver;SelectMethod=cursor
Since I was not able to do this through my project's 'Application Resources > Connections' screen, I could not evaluate if this is the cause
    2) I'm trying to follow the steps of an Oracle tutorial (http://www.oracle.com/technology/obe/obe11jdev/ps1/ria_application/developriaapplication_long.htm#ad), of course using MS SQL server instead of Oracle, and using some master->detail tables like the example suggests (in the tutorial, I've reached the step 11, then tried to update a record, which causes the mentioned exception)
    Follows the stacktrace:
<Utils><buildFacesMessage> ADF: Adding the following JSF error message: Line 1: FOR UPDATE clause allowed only for DECLARE CURSOR.
com.microsoft.sqlserver.jdbc.SQLServerException: Line 1: FOR UPDATE clause allowed only for DECLARE CURSOR.

    Regards,
    Luciano S. Lorencini, SCJP, SCWCD

So, I`ve created a test project and use the MSSQL flavor to create my Business Components.
After repeated all the steps, the error did not happen again.
But some strange behavior happen: I change some data and click the "Submit" button. The changed data appears ok in screen, but the changes were not committed in database!
Do I need to explicitly tell ADF to commit that changes somewhere?

  • 10g: delay for collecting results from parallel pipelined table functions

When parallel pipelined table functions are properly started and generate output record, there is a delay for the consuming main thread to gather these records.
This delay is huge compared with the run-time of the worker threads.
For my application it goes like this:
main thread timing efforts to start worker and collect their results:
    [10:50:33-*10:50:49*]:JOMA: create (master): 015.93 sec (#66356 records, #4165/sec)
    worker threads:
    [10:50:34-*10:50:39*]:JOMA: create (slave) : 005.24 sec (#2449 EDRs, #467/sec, #0 errored / #6430 EBTMs, #1227/sec, #0 errored) - bulk #1 / sid #816
    [10:50:34-*10:50:39*]:JOMA: create (slave) : 005.56 sec (#2543 EDRs, #457/sec, #0 errored / #6792 EBTMs, #1221/sec, #0 errored) - bulk #1 / sid #718
    [10:50:34-*10:50:39*]:JOMA: create (slave) : 005.69 sec (#2610 EDRs, #459/sec, #0 errored / #6950 EBTMs, #1221/sec, #0 errored) - bulk #1 / sid #614
    [10:50:34-*10:50:39*]:JOMA: create (slave) : 005.55 sec (#2548 EDRs, #459/sec, #0 errored / #6744 EBTMs, #1216/sec, #0 errored) - bulk #1 / sid #590
    [10:50:34-*10:50:39*]:JOMA: create (slave) : 005.33 sec (#2461 EDRs, #462/sec, #0 errored / #6504 EBTMs, #1220/sec, #0 errored) - bulk #1 / sid #508
You can see, the worker threads are all started at the same time and terminating at the same time: 10:50:34-10:50:*39*.
But the main thread just invoking them and saving their results into a collection has finished at 10:50:*49*.
Why does it need #10 sec more just to save the data?
Here's a sample sqlplus script to demonstrate this:

    Hello
I think the delay you are seeing is down to choosing the partitioning method as HASH. When you specify anything other than ANY, an additional buffer sort is included in the execution plan...

  • FOR LOOP cursor that updates table A based on a value in table B

    Hi,
I need a FOR LOOP cursor that scans and updates all pro-rata column in table EMPLOYEE(child) based on what pay classification all employees are on in the CLASSIFICATION(parent) table.

    END IF;
    IF employee.emp_type = 'PT1' THEN
    UPDATE employee
    SET employee.pro_rata = ((classification.yearly_pay/39)*52)

  • Can i use create function for MSSql scalar and table valude function.

    Hi,
    1) Can i use create function for MSSql scalar and table valued function?
    2) How many type of user defined function are there in oracle 11g express?
    3) And can i reture any "type" form user defined function?
    yourse sincerely

    944768 wrote:
Q1)That means even if i return predefined types like integer, varchar2 then also PGA is used ?The data type does not determine where the variable is stored. A string (called a varchar2 in Oracle) can be stored in stack space, heap space, on disk, in a memory mapped file, in a shared memory, in an atom table, etc.
It is the who and what is defining and using that string, that determines where and how it is stored.
The Oracle sever supports 2 languages in PL/SQL. The PL (Programming Logic) language is a procedural/declarative language. It is NOT SQL. SQL is integrated with it. The PL/SQL engine uses private process memory (PGA). So PL/SQL variables exist in the PGA (but there are exceptions such as LOBs).
Q2) So please suggest me solution in oracle.Sounds to me you are looking at how to implement a T-SQL style function as an Oracle function, and once implemented, do joins on the function.
Do not use PL/SQL in SQL in place of a SQL select. It is not T-SQL.
One cannot use PL/SQL to create functions along the style of T-SQL, where the function executes a SQL using some conditional logic, and then return as if the function was a native SQL select.
T-SQL is an extension to the SQL language - making it a hybrid and very impure language implementation. PL is based on ADA - part of the Pascal family of languages. The E-SQL (embedded SQL) approach used in languages like C/C++, Cobol and Ada, has been transparently done in PL/SQL. You can write and mix PL code and variables with SQL code. And the PL/SQL engine figures out how to make the call from the PL/SQL engine to the SQL engine.
But PL/SQL is not "part" of the SQL language and does not "extend" the SQL language in a T-SQL fashion.
So you need to check your SQL-Server preconcepts in at the door, as they are not only irrelevant in Oracle, they are WRONG in Oracle.
The correct way in Oracle, in a nutshell - Use the SQL language to do data processing. Use PL/SQL to manage conditional process flow and the handling of errors.

  • Documentation for V function

    Hi Folks,
Sprinkled throughout lots of the documentation there is a reference to the "v()" function.
    Examples include "v('APP_USER')" and similar.
Since this function doesn't appear to be part of a PL/SQL package, using it perturbs me slightly: I always
like to have at least some sort of grasp of what I'm using and although I am grateful for all the folk that
show examples of its use, there's nothing like having the fundamental definition to make a Developer sleep
a little easier at night... :-)
Can any kind soul give a URL for the place in the documentation where it describes this mysterious function
    please?
    Thanks in advance
    Mungo

Thanks to (currently) the two respondents. Though I didn't state it, it was the API documentation that I
was seeking, hence I marked "jarola" as Correct. The other respondent was most helpful too.
Follow-on question: if I use "v(...)" in a database table trigger, that trigger runs in the database and (I think) only has
access to the schema's code as well as the usual built-ins.
Since this function belongs to Apex, how is it "attached" to my schema? When I specify a schema to be linked to a Workspace,
is this where the linking occurs?
Hoping you can see my question through the fog of feeble words I've used; thanks in advance.

I need documentation for SJ01 (SAP Objects). If I try to view the documentation in SE80, I get the error message: "Document OJ_XXX(whatever I selected) is not available in language DE"
Where can I get this documentation?
Is there an overview+documentation available somewhere of all SAP functions which may be used for own programs? Or how do I know what's already available and how to use it?
    Thanks
    Steffi

    hi,
check this code for table control.
    DIALOG PROGRAMMING
    TABLE CONTROL
    IN SE51
    PROCESS BEFORE OUTPUT.
    MODULE STATUS_0100.
LOOP AT ITVBAK WITH CONTROL TABCTRL. ##  TABLE CONTROL NAME
    ENDLOOP.
    PROCESS AFTER INPUT.
    MODULE USER_COMMAND_0100.
    LOOP AT ITVBAK.
    ENDLOOP.
    IN PAI FLOW LOGIC
    PROGRAM YMODULE_PR4 .
    TABLES : KNA1, VBAK.
DATA : BEGIN OF ITVBAK OCCURS 0,
           VBELN LIKE VBAK-VBELN,
           ERDAT LIKE VBAK-ERDAT,
           ERNAM LIKE VBAK-ERNAM,
           NETWR LIKE VBAK-NETWR,

    *&      Module  STATUS_0100  OUTPUT
          text

  • Structure of the context for declaring internal table

    Hi,
Can we use the structure of the context for declaring the internal ?
    -Sid

    Hi Sid,
You can use the above element_ & elements_ notation to define workarea & internal table similar to your context. But the disadvantage of this approach as how pointed out by Thomas in 1 of his earlier threads is that this coding would work fine only for that particular view. If you copy the same code from your view input_view and try to use it in another view say VIEW1 then it wouldn't work as the interface name would have changed from if_input_view to if_view1. So its suggested to use the below approach:
    DATA: lt_main TYPE wd_this->elements_node_vbak,  " Internal table
              wa_main TYPE wd_this->element_node_vbak.  " Work area
Try go through this excellent [article|https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/60730016-dbba-2a10-8f96-9754a865b814]. It would help you understand what all you need to know about working with the context & its attributes.

You can view the contents of the Unsorted Bookmarks folder in the sidebar view of bookmarks, or in the Library window.
You need to re-arrange your bookmarks and move that "Newspapers" folder into the Bookmarks Menu folder. The Unsorted folder is meant for quick temporary storage of a bookmark until you take the time to move it to the appropriate folder in the Bookmarks Menu folder. <br />
