Documentation source!!

Hi all,
Is there any source, where I can get Oracle 8.1.7 complete documentation (HTML Format) for download?
Thanks
Raju

Oracle documentation is only viewable on OTN; the entire documentation set is not available for download. However, you can buy product documentation at Oracle Store (only available in certain countries). Please see http://otn.oracle.com/software/store/discount.html for information on the 20% OTN discount on Oracle Store documentation, and then select the "Documentation" tab on Oracle Store.

  • UIX: documented sources of jsLibs?

    Hi,
The JDev online help states: "In deployment versions of UIX, the Javascript file containing this function will be reduced for higher performance. Therefore, to see a copy containing comments and documentation, consult the source release for your UIX version and look in the oracle.cabo.ui.jsLibs directory."
Where can I find this "source release"?
    Thx,

unfortunately, we do not make this source listing public.
The only public javascript APIs are submitForm, openWindow and TableProxy.

  • PLM: Business Events Documentation

    Hi,
I can't find proper documentation of the PLM Business Events. The PLM/PIM Implementation Guides provide only a list of event names but no further information on when these are raised and which parameters can be used when subscribing or writing custom code. Metalink Doc.ID 372814.1
('Using Business Events in PLM and PIM Data Librarian') covers EGO events only, not ENG events.
Could you please provide me with further documentation sources? Is there any central point of information dealing with seeded Business Events in eBS
in general? Is there any other way I can find out more about how a BE is defined (e.g. a database view providing it's parameters)?

  • Documenting complex queries

I'd like to start providing better documentation along with the database objects I produce. What's the best way to document what's going on in complex queries? I've started trying out different techniques of documenting source/target in a spreadsheet, but it seems to be lacking. I was wondering what others do? Any suggestions or references you could point me to? I could probably improve upon my inline comment practices, so any suggestions there are also welcome. Thanks

I’ve encountered the problem before and got some good advice here: Re: Documentation help:  Procedural logic Vs Set logic
Because SQL is an explicit language, and programmers being in the mental state that they are when programming, it’s difficult for us to deconstruct our perfectly explicit, self-documenting SQL statement into something that someone else will understand.
The diagram linked in the above forum thread is an example where to explain what I’m doing, I’ve had to change the set-based logic of the SQL statement into a procedural loop type explanation. I hated doing this, but it was the best way I could think of to explain it to someone.
More recently I’ve had to document a query that is fairly simple logically (to me anyway) but due to the number of tables and the fact that the audience doesn’t necessarily understand spatial queries, I found it easier to break it down using the following diagram:
    http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v115/whitehat/work%20related/query1.jpg
tables probably won’t mean anything to you, but you can see how I’ve broken it down into business-logic “Retrieve criteria for exception checking”, “select providers”, “restrict providers” etc. the arrows represent the join criteria and the boxes split up the driving tables and the restriction tables.
I’ve found this particular diagram very useful as part of the current project that I’m involved with. Even the System Testers are relying on this diagram to direct them in how everything fits together.
Each situation is different however and you’ll just have to experiment with each bit of code as it comes along.
    Hope this helps!

  • Documentation: How to use?

Learning Java, have specific task to perform. E.G read characters or word or line from keyboard. Search on whole SUN website seems to produce no help at all. Keyboard doesn't even appear in language specification or in java.lang specification. (where someone had told me to look).I can't find it in tutorials either.
So, am I missing some key documentation source? How does anyone find which of the thoiusands of elements are helpful, relevant or necessary for a task?
    mike.

It's frustrating when a product's documentation fails to mention everything that isn't included in it. I don't mean that sarcastically, I once spent most of a day rummaging through the documentation of a product called Harvard Graphics, trying to find the command to display my diagram sideways. Well, it turned out that the product couldn't do that. But the documentation didn't say "You can't rotate your diagram" or "You can't display your diagram sideways" or anything like that. And why should it? I was still annoyed, though.
It's the same thing here. Java doesn't have a standard API for handling serial ports, but it doesn't tell you that. I guess the documentation writers assume that you know that Java was designed to be a platform-independent language for performing Internet-oriented tasks and not quite a general-purpose programming language. Given that, you would not be surprised to find that it couldn't handle serial ports, or the Microsoft Windows registry, or many of the other "How Do I's" that you regularly see in these forums.
Of course you can't design a computer language without people demanding that it do everything they want, so there's a considerable pressure to make Java handle all of those things. But you don't want to throw all of that into the base system, or your product will balloon to a size such that only people with high-speed connections can download it. Hence the "optional packages" such as the Communications API, and the new features added to Java 1.4.
I understand that Sun originally wanted Java to be a small product, and that it expected other people to create useful classes to add on to it. That's exactly what happened with regular expressions. People created useful classes to deal with regular expressions. But guess what? The question "How do I do regular expressions in Java" continued to appear in this forum. Apparently if it doesn't come from Sun, then somehow it isn't "official" and it's risky to use it. So Sun put regular expressions classes into Java 1.4. Just makes it bigger, more documentation, even harder to find things.

  • FCP books/documentation

I've been using FCP for 4 years and have always had problems trying to research something in the FCP "help" e-manual. I just can't seem to locate what I'm looking for unless you use the exact terminology of the author. I have the printed documentation which came with the software as well.
Does anyone know of a book which is a good documentation source and is thorough yet easy to locate subjects? I especially need a reference manual which explains how to set up the various HD and SD sequence settings and capture the same.
    Thanks,
    Tony

There are a great number of instructional books available as well as tons of online tutorials. But even with all of those, you really, really need to know the terminology involved if you want to reference something from any book.
My advice would be to lean the correct terminology ... the language of non-linear editing and of FCP specifically. Once you know that, just about any answer will be much easier to find regardless of which book you're using as a reference.

I have purchased a Lenovo IdeaCentre K320-30192GU. For some strange reason, none of the manuals and none of the info on the Lenovo support site make any reference whatsoever to the motherboard. After a long session with the tech person at Lenovo support I was told that no information could be given to me that wasn't already on that site. (I have never owned a computer for which this information was not available.)  I would like to know the motherboard's ID and a documentation source. • Mcserver request documentation

I need to be able to clear the tilecache programmatically, much the way that mapviewer/faces/admin/mcs_admin.jspx does. It looks like this is done in oracle.mapviewer.webconsole.beans.ManageMapTiles.
Could someone direct me to a documentation source that would explain either the request protocols to send to mapviewer/mcserver or the inner workings of ManageMapTiles?
    Thanks, Mark

Goto http://your-host:port/mapviewer/tilecache/mcsadmin.html, or mapviewer/mapcache/mcsadmin.html if you're on an older version of mapviewer). You will find the examples of XML tile admin requests.

How much recording time on iphone4 voice memo?

I would suggest that it depends on how much free space you have on the phone. I have done voice memos of over an hour before, and have read of other users reporting larger ones. I do not believe there is any documented source of what size you can do.

  • Using API's

    Greetings,
I am writing a project which needs to "read" data out of .pdb file (this file contains debugging information for VC++ 6 and .NET).
Problem is - the intra structure and format of the .pdb file were not published by Microsoft, and they are not going to reveal it.
However, they have supplied some API's, which extract data out of the .pdb file, which is enough for my needs (for example - names and location of the source files, symbols, etc.).
All examples in MSDN are written in C++ (or C#), but not in Java. They are all include some header file (dia.h, or dia2.h, etc.), which contains structure used by those API's.
Well, my question is - how do I use those API's? How do I get the structure of the data (from the .h files)? Can I do it, or must I build structures myself?
Any assistance would by appreciated deeply.
    Kind regards,
    Ohad.

If you have "cracked" the file format maybe based on the header files, you can use a
    DataInputStream to deal with it.
Some time ago I sought for some pieces of information on the NT file system (NTFS). The documentation at some M$ developer site was referring to the documentation/source of the Linux NTFS driver.
Good Microsoft (long may it live and reign!) is not keen on documenting...

  • Inserting data in a subtable

    Hello,
My question: I am using the following code to create a supertype and 2 subtypes and a table based on the supertype (this code works):
CREATE TYPE COMPANY_OBJ AS OBJECT (
    COMPANY_CODE                    NUMBER(4),
    COMPANY_TYPE                    NUMBER(4),
    COMPANY_NAME                    VARCHAR2(50),
    RETAILER_CODEMR               NUMBER(4)
    ) NOT FINAL;
    CREATE TYPE BIG_COMPANY_OBJ UNDER COMPANY_OBJ (
    FILLER                              NUMBER(4)
    ) NOT FINAL;
    CREATE TYPE SMALL_COMPANY_OBJ UNDER COMPANY_OBJ (
    MAX_ORDER_QUANTITY          NUMBER(4)
    ) NOT FINAL;
CREATE TABLE COMPANY OF COMPANY_OBJ (
    PRIMARY KEY(COMPANY_CODE)
Ok nothing fancy there. But when I try to insert data using the subtype BIG_COMPANY or SMALL_COMPANY it goes wrong. I am using the following INSERT query:
    INSERT INTO COMPANY VALUES (SMALL_COMPANY_OBJ(25, 33, "TEST", 45, 22));
Which should work, according to the Oracle documentation (source: http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/server.102/b14200/statements_9014.htm#i2085891 )
However, I am getting the following errormessage:
    ORA-00984: column not allowed here
Which I dont understand, because this errormessage is only supposed to show for when I use a columnname in the VALUES clause. Or am I missing something?
    TIA

    try
    INSERT INTO COMPANY VALUES (SMALL_COMPANY_OBJ(25, 33, 'TEST', 45, 22));
single quotes around TEST, not double quotes
I tried it on my XE database and it works fine

  • How to create object for a interface (or) how to use ITextModel Interface

    Hi,
I am new to vc++ and indesign, i am using windows xp as OS and Indesign CS3 as version, now i want to know how to create an object for the ITextModel Interface (or) how to use the ITextModel interface, for getting the selected text and to manipulate the content, for this i tried myself to the best for more than a week,
but i not get any solution or any idea to do it, so i post this scrap, if any one knows kindly help me immediately, if u want any more details kindly reply me i am ready to give..
    Regards,
    ram

    Hi, Ram,
as Jongware already has explained in a previous thread, this is the scripting forum, the SDK forum is next door.
Besides, your question has already been answered over there in SDK forum - with a reference to an existing example, including documented source. There is also plenty more documentation (780 pages alone in the programming guide) and other working examples.
The brief response was a perfect match to the vague, general scope of the question. If you want more details, be more specific yourself. Do not just touch such major topics as selection, text, object architecture in one sentence to expect a silver bullet. Instead, stick to one detail, find and read the relevant examples and documentation (did I mention the programming guide?) yourself e.g. using keyword search. Quote your code where you're stuck.
Being new to both VC++ and InDesign is an explanation but no excuse. IMO, same goes for "using windows xp as OS". All together are bad starting conditions if you intend to write a plugin. Even a seasoned C++ programmer with some years of experience in publishing quirks will easily require months, so don't become impatient after just a week.
If you need quick results and have a programming background such as a recent Java101, reconsider scripting (this forum). It can bring you amazingly far and you'll learn InDesign through a simplified object model. Same principles apply - there is plenty documentation and a good choice of examples.
    Regards,
    Dirk

  • Tfman - text file manager, much different then others

    Tfman - text file manager.
Performs operations on files through textual representation of file system.
Textual representation is in the form of plain text, editable with any text
editor and may contain multiple operations of every kind. Tfman can be
used from command-line or from within Vim as multi-window file manager.
It can be combined with tools like Sed or Awk.
. written in C fo Unix-like operating systems
. no dependencies (except gcc/clang and GNU Make for building)
    Features in short:
       - scan filesystem to create its textual representation
       - parse textual representation and perform retrieved operations
       - use favorite text editing tool to edit textual representation
       - scan, edit and parse in one step
       - use Tfman from command-line or from within Vim as multi-window file manager
       - integration with other decent text editors should be easy
       - available: brace expansion, globbing, entries grouping, whole directory operations and more
    Project's homepage:
    https://chiselapp.com/user/machel/repository/tfman/home
Installation procedure (AUR or sources tarball) - see Project's homepage
Documentation, sources, report issue - see Project's homepage
    Warning:
Tfman is in an early state, it didn't receive sufficient testing yet. Please
be carefull when manipulating sensitive data with it.
    Note:
I do not know any file manager that manipulates file system in similar way.
Therefore usefulness of this kind of approach is not proven.
       Help me prove it.

not as simple as I want it to be. Any ideas how to make it simpler are highly appreciated.
Well, for start: Is there really a reason to use different character for directory and its subdirectories? As far as I can tell, you could just use '%' for all directories and decide what is top-level directory and what is subdirectory based on the indentation. Also, it would be nice to reserve '#' for comments, as it is common in many languages.
machel wrote:2) Use action tags to specify operations. They apply to single entries, groups of entries or whole directories
Here the complexity begins. There is 13 operations, if I counted it correctly in the man page. To be fair, some of them are just adding '*' enforce overwrites. Fine, that leaves us with about 9 operations to learn. I could probably do that But it would be better if it was less... Would it be possible to simplify operations that don't affect file location by allowing user to simply change the value in the text representation? It would probably require some kind of header (or some clever trickery), because the order of columns is not fixed, but it might be worth the trouble. You could also extend this to changing file times and perhaps other properties (those from '-F proper'). The linking and moving operators look good, with little exception of '))' - that just looks odd to me But that is definitely my personal taste... I'd prefer something like single '>'.
machel wrote:3) Entry names and action operands - I believe using them is quite intuitive:
    Name relative to directory/subdirectory above:
      'name'
    If you want absolute name:
      '/name'
If you want name relative to current working directory (where Tfman was invoked):
      './name'
No problem with this, I like that.

dolik.rce wrote:ability to execute commands on the files/directories
What do you mean? Shell commands?
Shell commands would be best, but generally just ability to execute command with given file/directory as input or parameter. Example usage would be something like this:
    # Dir
    file1 ^ sed -i -e 'some sed script here' becomes: sed -i -e 'some sed script here' < file1
    file2 ^% touch % becomes: touch file2
The syntax is just an example, but in this case ^ would feed the file into the standard input of the command, and '^%' would replace '%' in commandline with the actual file name. For globing, command gets executed for each matching file.
    machel wrote:
    dolik.rce wrote:execute some actions conditionally
Interesting idea. I must think about it.
Tfman already have tags to stop parsing file, stop parsing line and goto next,
disable whole dir/group or single entry, exclude entry from under directory/group,
perform action on previous action's target, ignore errors.
    But it works unconditionally.
I can imagine wanting to do something based on the properties of file or even based on output of external command. E.g. 'move file only if it's older then N days', or 'ask remote server if it has file X, move the file to directory upload/ when the command returns non-zero exit status'
    machel wrote:--- Tfm ---
Remember about 'tfm' utility which is simple Tfman wrapper  scanning given directory,
opening it in editor defined in EDITOR shell variable (Vim is default) and parsing
result after you save and quit.
It just compress 3 steps into 1.
This is definitely handy, and probably only reasonable way to use tfman interactively. However, I'm not a vim-person - as I already said I'm lazy to remember anything, so you can imagine that learning enough vim commands to use it effectively would be a nightmare for me The same goes for tfmvi, I'm just not the target audience for that. But my EDITOR variable is usually set to nano, so I could easily use it with that, probably just with slightly more typing.
