Documents shared from Pages only open in browser?

I showed my wife how to use the new Share (collaboration) feature in Pages. She sent me a link to a Pages document via Messages, and I received the link in Messages. But clicking the link opens the file in Safari. While that is ok (it works), I'd prefer to open the file in the native Pages apps on the Mac or iPad. Is there a way to open shared files in Pages on the Mac or Pages on the iPad? Thanks!

Good question. Someone sent me the link to a draft Pages document, which I could not edit on the Web. I downloaded the document onto my iPad and edited that copy using the Pages app. I emailed the link to the revised document to the original author. Using an iPad, that person could only download my version of the document, edit it on her iPad, and print the final result.
Following your suggestion, the original author opened my email on a Mac AirBook, clicked the link, and was then able to make her revisions using Safari. After she closed the document tab in Safari (I have no idea whether that step was necessary), I returned to the still-running Pages app on my iPad. After a delay of a second or two, my document acquired the original author's new revisions. When I modified the document once again on my iPad, the original author was able to follow the link in my original email to get back to the shared document in Safari, where she saw my latest changes.
So, going from an iDevice to a Mac via a shared iCloud link works, relying on Apple's Web iWork tools. If you want to go the other way, the recipient of the Mac email has to download the Pages document onto his iPad and send a link to the iPad copy back to the original author. Then both can collaborate using the shared iPad copy. Thanks for the idea.

Opening PDF from website only opens in browser, want it to open in Acrobat Client

So after this most recent update 11.0.03 we have this is issue where the PDF will not open in the Acrobat client. I found the adobe article where it tells you to disable the IE plugins and that should force it to open in the client but that is not working...
I've tried repairing Acrobat then trying again. Same issue. If I have the IE plugins enabled it opens fine in Internet Explorer 10 but just refuses to open in the actual client unless I download a copy and open it locally.
What I need is for when someone goes to open a pdf from a website I need it to open in the actual Acrobat Pro client...

Acrobat is opening PDFs in the browsers, IE11, Chrome and Firefox. I am using Foxit now so it doesn't matter. I can also open many pdf files in Foxit and have tabs. Acrobat opens a new acrobat window for every file, this is not acceptable to me.

Pages only open on reload in Safari & Firefox

For the past several days, web pages only open on reload. I get a "server can't be found" error message when initially attempting to load bookmarks or ordinary links. However, when I hit reload after the error message, the pages usually load. This happens in both Safari 2.0.2 and Firefox 1.5.0.1, even after restart. The same symptoms appear on all three user accounts (only one of which is an admin account).
The network is up and running with a good connection, so I'm puzzled.

Often (but of course not always!) this sort of problem is evidence of a slow response from a DNS server. ie. you browser asks to see site xyz.com and your Mac asks the DNS server for the IP address and once it has the IP address it then sends the browser request through to that address. If the DNS is slow in responding your browser may give up waiting. A response meanwhile does come back and has been stored in time for it to be useable when you click the reload button.
To test this you can try browsing directly to IP addresses and see if the problem still happens. If not, then check any DNS settings within the Mac or network.

If you moved the G4 around to make room for the new machine, that could have jarred the processor loose. It's not unusual for that to happen to an older machine, though it usually happens to RAM or cables, not to the processor.
Years of heating and cooling can loosen a connection and cause some oxidation of the contacts; subsequent moving of the machine, coupled with just a bit of thumping or torquing of the chassis, can cause the connection to fail. Reseating the connection not only makes it secure again, it usually wipes the oxidation off of the contacts.

Hello, I have a flash button embedded into a css/HTML page that I want to use to navigate into a new page without opening a new window. Here's the code I'm using in the SWF which I got from the adobe tv tutorial:

The flash button is the "about Ian" button on the upper left. I want the navigation to be like the traditional rollovers on the page. (I'm working my way up to having the embedded flash button fade into place, that's why I'm using flash.)

If you look up the navigate ToURL function in the help documents it lists all of the window options available. For your case you can use:
navigateToURL(new URLRequest("http://ianmartinphotography.com/about.html"), "_self");

Pages only opens first page

My Pages app on my iPhone 5s only opens the first page of my multi-page documents... any thoughts?

I now have the latest versions of Pages (5.2) on my Macbook Pro, and still no help in opening more than the first page of a two-column multi-page document. I appreciate the iWork team contacting me via email for more information, but this was pretty embarrassing today as I tried and failed to open a script we've been working on with my client at a meeting without success.
Pages has significant potential, and I'm looking forward to the time when I won't need Word installed on my gear.

appeared at the bottom of the first page by which I could move to the other pages. Now here at work, there is no arrow and it is just stuck on the first page. I am working with Acrobat X.

Mmm, yeah, it's far from perfect, don't know about having to buy both iPhone and iPad apps, we bought just the iPad app, was fifty-something aust.dollars, which my employer is happy to pay as we're always looking for something like this whilst we're hoping and waiting and waiting and waiting for Movi - if that ever happens.
The iPad version also uses credentials created in the TMS provisioning directory, which is a good thing for us as it means we can use the same log-in as with Movi.
Would be great if it could get the provisioning phone book etc, but that's not important for what we need this for, it does have a local phone book though.
Aspect ratio is, as I said earlier, and as you saw, not exactly perfect when connecting to a MXP or C-series...and yes, not being able to rotate the image with the device is a bit disappointing, considereing the price.
Would I've bought for myself or for any of our users? No, definitely not.
Having said that, we can use it on the office iPad as part of the support kit for the techs when they're out and about. We all have employer issued iPhones as well, but the iPhone screen is just not large enough for our needs; which includes remote access and operation of AMX control systems, codecs, TMS etc.
They probably should've done a bit more testing before releasing it though.

If you are in the Enterprise program, apps can be distributed only to that company's employees. If you want to distribute to customers in general, you would have to be a member of the normal iOS developer program and either use ad-hoc distribution for up to 100 users, or go through the App Store. There are no other options I'm aware of, though you can contact Apple Developer Support through your membership resources and ask.

Pages only opens document through File Open

Im having a problem where .doc files I have downloaded do not open in Pages when I double click them. I see the animation and the application switches to Pages but then no window appears.
However, if I am in Pages and click File > Open > thefile.doc, it opens without issues.
I have it set to Pages as the default application. Documents just will not appear when I double click on them..
Any ideas?

It sounds like your Launch Services database is corrupt. This happens more often than you would expect. I would use a tool such as OnyX to delete the caches & rebuild the database.

I am creating an idvd project with multiple imovie projects. I know I need to share my imovie project with Idvd. WEhen I do that, idvd automatically opens. Now I want to add a second project. The problem is that when I share imovie projects a second time, it automatically opens a second idvd project. I want to add multiple imovie projects on one idvd project.

One should not share directly to iDVD from iMovie. The Share ➙ Media Browser option should be used as that results in a better quality movie in iDVD. Do the same for both movies and you can drag the movies from the Media ➙ Movies pane in iDVD into the DVD menu window at the left.
Follow this workflow to help ensure the best quality video DVD:
Once you have the project as you want it save it as a disk image via the File ➙ Save as Disk Image menu option. This will separate the encoding process from the burn process.
To check the encoding mount the disk image, launch DVD Player and play it. If it plays OK with DVD Player the encoding is good.
Then burn to disk with Disk Utility or Toast at the slowest speed available (2x-4x) to assure the best burn quality. Always use top quality media: Verbatim, Maxell or Taiyo Yuden DVD-R are the most recommended in these forums.

Can't save file from .pdf file opened in browser?

Before, on my old laptop, with Vista or XP, when I opened up a .pdf link from a browser site, I had the option of saving the .pdf file, printing it, etc.
Now, I can print the file, but I can't save it. It looks like Adobe wants me to purchase acrobat.com.
Is there a way to save the files? Thanks.

While that may be true for you, it is not a common problem for all users. I use both Reader and Acrobat (along with many other Adobe applications) without issue daily on multiple computers with multiple Operating systems so your statement is way to generalized to be helpful.
Have you tried getting help in this forum before?
