Does anyone else mind State Farm's advertising all over their reading material? That company is a nuisance. Can't even enjoy the iPad any longer because of this. Any way to block them?
Advertising has hit a new low. I can't get rid of this irritating company. They're everywhere. Even wrote to State Farm and Apple but no response. Am I stuck with trying to read and there State Farm is again, all over the place?
You have to be using an app when you're seeing ads. There's no way for ads to be displayed on the Home screens of the iPad. Are you talking about when your browsing the web? If you're doing something in Yahoo, you must be using a web browser. Have you turned on the pop up blocking in Safari? Settings>Safari>Block Pop-ups?

Does anyone else's Siri not work at all?
This is absolutley frustrating it took 3 hours to even activate my service and now the best feature the iPhone 4s has to offer does not work. Siri doesnt take any command I say or understand anything I say and I've spoken clearly and used different people to speak. I've used the same exact questions they use in the demos and siri just says "uh oh theres a problem can u try again?, or sorry I didnt get that...this is very frustrating... anybody else have this problem?? any help would be appreciated
My Siri is not working either it just keeps on saying UH OH there's a problem please try again. I thought about taking the phone into the AT&T store but this is really an Apple issue. Not sure what they can do for me at AT&T but I can't get through on the phone with Apple. And the online support is trying to get me to pay to get service. I just got the phone today. Doesn't it come with some kind of techincal support?

Have you tried a soft-reset ? Press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider if it appears), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

I am not sure if it is because I am blind and just can't see the audiobooks tab on my iTunes screen, but my screen reading software can't find it either. None of the audiobooks will sync. I have tried turning iTunes Match off and on and it doesn't seem to work. Any ideas?

To sync Audiobooks from your computer to your iOS device, we'll want to follow the basic syncing instructions outlined in this article:

Specifically, what we are looking for is the "Books" tab at the top of iTunes (grouped together with Summary, Music, etc). Audiobooks have moved to this "Books" tab.
Once on the Books tab, there are two separate sections for syncing regular digital Books and Audiobooks. Make sure that the "Sync Audiobooks" checkbox is checked and choose to either sync all or selected audiobooks. Once these changes are applied, the Audiobooks will be transferred to your device for your enjoyment!

When I type my email address in the "To:" field, a random name comes up next to it as "Holidays in United States". This just started happening out of the blue and I have no idea why. Does anyone else have any idea?
Just to recap, this is a collection of ports I have collected over time for people who needed this information when setting up the HP ePrint app so that they could view their email from within the app. I am certain other applications also need this information. Although lengthy, I could not find a more comprehensive place to retrieve this information. Feel free to post additional information, faulty information, or other related topics below as this is simply a collection of data and it would be practically impossible to test all of them. I can see that be very stifling to an image-based community such as this. e.g. if we're trying to help each other out regarding a photography technique, I would not post any images as examples because I am implicitly giving up rights on them. No bueno!

Half the ebooks I have bought from iTunes have large sections or complete chapters missing from them which is beginning to seriously irritate. Does anyone else have this problem or it is something to do with the downloading. In which case does anyone have an answer?
You should be able to delete and redownload them via the bookshelf in the iBooks app : tap the Edit button top right of the shelf, select and delete the books, then go into the Store via the button top left of the bookshelf, and in the Purchased tab (bottom right of the store) find and re-download the books.
If they re-download in the same state then try the 'report a problem' link from your purchase history : log into your account on your computer's iTunes via Store > View My Account and you should then see a Purchase History section with a 'see all' link to the right of it ; click on that and you should see a list of your purchases ; find those books and use the 'Report a Problem' link. -

Does anyone else have keyboard problems.
I don't mean the freezing problem (I've got than already!!)
The other problem I am having with the keyboard is how hard I need to hit some of the keys in order for them to register. Not sure if its a 'bedding' in problem that will resolve itself of if there is a genuine keyboard problem.
When you depress the keys they feel physically fine but very often the don't register, I often find my self looking up midway through typing to find many letters missing in words. This appears worst on the QWERTY line and the only solution is to depress them very (frighteningly) hard.Hi,
Yes, got exactly the same machine/problems as you. Had it for about 2 and a half weeks now and have spoken to apple support about it. I was advised to take it to an apple service provider of which I called and they were talking about replacing the keyboard. I went to book it in on their website but I was not happy with the terms and conditions. Basically, they had clauses about charging if they had to install software etc, and being less than 2 weeks old at the time, I was not happy at having the keyboard replaced! Seen as we're not the only ones with the problem, I have pretty much convinced my self that it's a firmware / software issue and will get resolved. You're right about some keys being more problematic than others. On my particular machine, it seems to be the zxc row, with 'N' being the worst offender along with caps lock, although it has better days, like today for example! It has only missed a few characters out while typing this. It seems to me like it's some kind of power saving problem, where the keyboard shuts down momentarily or something. I have a similar problem with the wi-fi, where as it cuts the connection when I shut the lid, even if i'm downloading something! Which is why I'm convinced it's maybe a power saving issue (I could be doing something wrong of course mind!). So, seen as we have a 12mth warranty, and the machine runs nicely bar the obvious I am prepared to sit it out, for now........Cheers. -
Does anyone else's Mac get hung up when doing a specific song search?
When i search for a song and locate it and hit "see all", when I try to scroll down my computer stalls. In other words, it will not allow me to quickly scroll down the page to view the songs and artists who performed the song I am researching. This happens on both of my Macs. Does this happen to anyone else, and does anyone know why? Is there a fix?
I have explored, that's why I'm here. Nothing else is running. I already stated that this happens when the Mac's display goes to sleep and it becomes locked.
Maybe I should state this a little better:
It's not so much the Mac gets hosed up, it's more that Time Machine does. I'll come back and log back in and the back up is just stuck at, for example, 8.34gigs out of 29.6gigs. I watch it for 30 minutes and it hasn't changed. I go to stop the backup and the whole system just freezes up, finder even stops responding. I know it shouldn't take very long to back up because I use the FireWire port for backups. -
The first day I got it, it was fine. Then when I woke up the next day which was less than 12 hours after hooking it up, it wouldn't connect..it let me type a couple of characters to my password, but then literally stopped. My trackpad has yet to have any issues whatsoever. Even during the keyboard malfunctioning it's been fine. In order to get the keyboard to work, I have to log into the guest account, let it be discovered, then pair it. It as now happened on 4 different days, more times than that, though. I've only had it for just over a week. I don't think there's a problem with the computer just because the trackpad is fine. The keyboard blinks that little green light when it's having this issue, too. As you know, it's normally off. Today I tried to log in for the first time and it did the same thing as the first day. It let me type a few characters, then stopped and wouldn't connect. This time, though, when I went into the guest account to let it be discovered it wouldn't let me type the numeric code to pair it. I had to hold down my power button to restart it because I was logged in on another user and it wouldn't let me restart it the normal way without typing the admin username/password...which I obviously couldn't do seeing as how I didn't have a keyboard. Does anyone else think this is a faulty keyboard I need to return? Or is this unfortunately how it works...or what? Help please...
I was at the Apple Store that week 5 times for a messed up phone that they replaced with a total of 4 replacement phones because of different issues the ones they gave me had and driving there that much almost made me say screw it to the iPhone...now I buy this very expensive iMac spending 2 grand and this happens....I'm so mad I am thinking of just returning it and giving up on Apple altogether which Idon't WANT to do...but with all I've dealt with in a 2 week period with the iPhone and now this...oh and I bought a $100 cell phone case I had to replace because it wasn't working correctly. So you see, I am beyond frustartee over Apple.....if anyone could help I'd greatly appreciate it. With all of my problems I've had, you'd think they want to do more than apologize for my inconvenience. Even the techs that helped me said it was ridiculous I've had so many issues and now I'm just adding to the list..Try this:
Go to System Preferences - Bluetooth. Delete the keyboard from the list of devices by pressing the "-" button. Take the batteries out of the keyboard and reinsert them. In Bluetooth Preferences press the '+" button to add the new device. If the keyboard begins to pair, click the word "pair" and type in the passcode. Press return. The keyboard is now paired.
If the mouse is not pairing, try this: shut down the computer completely, unplug any USB mice, then turn off the power to the bluetooth mouse. ONce the computer starts up again, wait for the pop-up looking for a mouse. Turn on the power to the bluetooth mouse. It should work normally now. -

after the newest update ( iso 7) , i can no longer type in traditional chinese ( pin yin), does anyone else have the same problem?
I downloaded and tried EasyFind. It works but it took 30+ seconds to complete finding 3 files that are on One of my Five 25+ Gb partitions of my 130 Gb Seagate Cuda(Really 160 Gb, but my Sawtooth will only recognize 130) I figured that if I ever got a better box, I could reformat it to see the whole 160 Gb. So, as far as I can see, Spotlight's indexing scheme which finds the files instantly is probably preferable. Spot light allows you to rename your files from within it's app window. I've always thought that was pretty powerful. Could my doing so be causing me any issues? As i said it is the inability to Type in the Finder that seemed to be caused from changing file Extentions that were mis-written. Maybe it was a delayed reaction to my renaming files in the Spotlight app? I've done both on occasion.
As for these .DS_Store files. Apparently you can NOT stop them from being written to any folder that you touch/open/view during a days session. But, as a function of the OS, are the essential to have in their respective folders Forever? I've looked at the .DS_Store terminator app briefly and assume that getting rid of these files won't hurt the regular operation of my OS. They will just be re-written if I ever have to go back to any particular folder again. But, apparently, some have said that if the plan on burning a CD or DVD of their data, they delete the .DS_Store files first and then do the burn.
I'm thinking from your having suggested this tremination app that you suspect that my having all of these ,DS_Store files could be a situation where any of them could have become corrupted and terminating them regularly should be part of my regular maintenance.
Does that sound like I'm understanding what I can do?

My macbook pro (August 2010) keeps freezing when apple mail starts up. This happens every 2nd time I turn on my Macbook Pro. This forces me to hold down the power button to restart my Macbook Pro. Does anyone else experience this, and is there a fix? Thx.
since upgrading to OS lion, my mac book pro (2010 August) keeps freezing (non responsive, requires restart) when i turn on my mac and the system is trying to open apple mail. while apple mail is attempting to collect new mail, the macbook pro freezes. this happens every 2nd time i try to start up my computer. this only started happening after i upgraded to OS lion. please let me know what I need to do to fix this. being forced to restart every 2nd time i turn on my macbook pro has been very frustrating. not sure if apple mail is also the cause of my macbook pro for being very slow during start-up (on the occasion the computer doesn't freeze).I am having similar 'freezing' problems with many programs (Mail, Safari, iTunes, etc.). I have done a clean install of Lion instead of an upgrade when it came out. Perhaps something went wrong with my install? I'm thinking about wiping and reinstalling.

Does anyone else think that the AppleMac group of products are marketed in a greedy way? I have MacBook Pro 10.5.8 with Leopard and am now told that I have to upgrade to Snow Leopard so that my system can download the relevant iTunes upgrade to sync my new iPad and get my audiobooks (which don't appear anywhere on the device right now). Of course there isn't enough memory on the MacBook and Snow Leopard costs more also? I don't have financial resources to pay for all the new memory requirement and related upgrades they say I need just to sync my iPad with my purchases.
Thanks for the reply but I already knew this. $20 for Snow Leopard which asks for 5gb free memory. I can only see that I have 4 gb (which I feel is rather a pathetic amount of available memory for any computer). To upgrade this computer's memory will cost another fee (I haven't researched this yet but gather it's more than $20). Then of course I could also be told that the OSX Mackbook Pro that I have can't be memory upgraded - which means I'm being told to buy a new computer - hence my very frustrated last email. I have been given a lovely iPad 2 as a present and now can't sync at all with anything because of this ongoing upgrade nightmare. How on earth am I going to be able to sync my movies, audiobooks etc to this new device??
