Does every rs.next() command requery the database?

Submitted for your consideration...
Connection conn = DriverManager.getConnection("jdbc:mysql://localhost/sweatshop?user=foobar&password=boofar");
Statement stmt = conn.createStatement();
ResultSet rs = stmt.executeQuery("SELECT years_worked FROM smurf_slaves");
while(rs.next) { whatever... }
Does the rs.next() statement query the database with each iteration of the while loop or are all the results of a query dumped into memory in one fell swoop?
Thank you.

hi.,
when we call ResultSet.executeQuery("") it retrieves all the results and dumped into memory in one shot.
after then by using while loop retriving data from ResultSet object.
also we may give size to ResultSet object by using getFetchSize(_)* method.
see the method: http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.2/docs/api/java/sql/ResultSet.html#getFetchSize()

    hı all
    how can l  solved thıs problem
    An exception occurred that is explained in detail below.
    The exception, which is assigned to class 'CX_SY_DYNAMIC_OSQL_SEMANTICS', was
    not caught in
    procedure "PUT_QMFECAT" "(FORM)", nor was it propagated by a RAISING clause.
    Since the caller of the procedure could not have anticipated that the
    exception would occur, the current program is terminated.
    The reason for the exception is:
    An Open SQL clause was specified dynamically. The contained field name
    "ADTAGR" does not exist in any of the database tables from the FROM clause.
    Information on where terminated
        Termination occurred in the ABAP program "SAPDBZQNQ" - in "PUT_QMFECAT".
        The main program was "ZQMR_BILDIRIM ".
        In the source code you have the termination point in line 732
        of the (Include) program "SAPDBZQNQ".
    Error occurred during batch input processing
        The termination is caused because exception "CX_SY_DYNAMIC_OSQL_SEMANTICS"

    You seem to have made a copy of the standard program. You'll have to make sure that you are handling this field correctly in your code.

  • Button for next recording in the database

    Hello,
    I currently testing Adobe LiveCycle to create a PDF form with data link to a database (Access).
    The goal of my form is for the manager of each of our site to write variable about the paycheck of each employe. So first I create my AccessDatabase with a simple structure :
    N : Auto Number
    Matricule : Employe ID
    Nom : Name
    Prenom : First Name
    Service : Service (Accounting...)
    HeureMensuelBase : Contract hour information for the mouth
    HeureSemBase : Contract hour information for the week
    Mois : Mouth
    Annee : Year
    NbrHeureMensuelW : Write the number of hour the employe work this mouth
    NbrHeureSupp25pc : Extra hour paid 25% more
    NbrHeureSupp50pc : Extra hour paid 50% more
    NbrHeureSupp100pc : Extra hour paid 100% more
    NomPrime : Name of a special gratification
    MontantPrime : Amount of a special gratification
    So after, I create my ODBC connexion and insite AdobeLiveCycle, Data View, Create a connexion > Next > ODBC String connexion > SQL Request > SELECT * FROM Table_Access; > Next > Finish. Great I retreive all my fields. If I preview the PDF I can correctly see the first record of my database.
    My goal is to create two differents buttons to navigate inside :
    NEXT with the follow code :
    formulaire1.#subform[0].Next::click - (JavaScript, client)
    xfa.sourceSet.DataConnection.next();
    PREV with the follow code :
    formulaire1.#subform[0].Prev::click - (JavaScript, client)
    xfa.sourceSet.DataConnection.previous();
    If i try to preview it, unfortunatly no button works.
    I follow this video : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C56_Cz-aE0c
    I  see the Adobe FAQ too : http://help.adobe.com/en_US/livecycle/11.0/DesignerHelp/WS107c29ade9134a2c-1f4d3e3c12a7df3 f73e-8000.2.html
    Could help me ? Adobe Support don't want help me because I use a trial version for the moment (logical because my CTO wan't valide LiveCycle do the job before paid for it). Sorry for my english it's not my mother tongue.

    I'm not alone in the same situation : http://forums.adobe.com/thread/793214

  • BRRESTORE command opens the database automatically

    Hi All,
    We have a very old version of SAP (3.1i) running on Oracle 7. We are currently using the below command to backup and restore the database:
    brbackup -u / -c -m all -t offline -a -c force -cds
    brrestore u2013m full u2013b logxx.aft u2013c
    But, using these commands we are unable to recover any archive logs as the database is in open state after the restore automatically which is generating its own log sequence. We would like the database to be in mount state after the restore.
    Please suggest any changes in the brbackup/brrestore commands to fix this.
    Thanks
    Vijay

    Hi All,
    I have finally managed to understand how brrestore works. If the database is up and running, and you try to restore to it, the database will automatically open after the restore is complete.
    If you want the database not to start, then you have to manually stop the database before you proceed with the restore.
    Thumb rule: The database will take its initial status (before restore) after the restore.
    This is specific to BRRESTORE and may be specific to my scenario (HPUX, Oracle 7.3 & SAP 3.1i)
    Thanks for all your help.
    Regards,
    Vijay

  • .SubmitChanges does not update foreign key to the database

    My problem occurs in a Windows Phone 8.1 Silverlight VB application. The CatDataContext defines a table Books with items Title and a foreign key _seriesID, with belongs to a table Series.
    Updating of the field Title alone, or the fields Title and _seriesID works fine. However when I only change the _seriesID then no update of the underlying database is done. In this case .GetModifiedMembers shows no modifications.
    A demo project with this problem is available.

    SHUTDOWN
    SHUTDOWN ABORT]
    Shuts down a currently running Oracle instance, optionally closing and dismounting a database.
    Terms
    Refer to the following list for a description of each term or clause:
    ABORT
    Proceeds with the fastest possible shutdown of the database without waiting for calls to complete or users to disconnect.
    Uncommitted transactions are not rolled back. Client SQL statements currently being processed are terminated. All users currently connected to the database are implicitly disconnected and the next database startup will require instance recovery.
    You must use this option if a background process terminates abnormally.
    IMMEDIATE
    Does not wait for current calls to complete or users to disconnect from the database.
    Further connects are prohibited. The database is closed and dismounted. The instance is shutdown and no instance recovery is required on the next database startup.
    NORMAL
    NORMAL is the default option which waits for users to disconnect from the database.
    Further connects are prohibited. The database is closed and dismounted. The instance is shutdown and no instance recovery is required on the next database startup.
    TRANSACTIONAL [LOCAL]
    Performs a planned shutdown of an instance while allowing active transactions to complete first. It prevents clients from losing work without requiring all users to log off.
    No client can start a new transaction on this instance. Attempting to start a new transaction results in disconnection. After completion of all transactions, any client still connected to the instance is disconnected. Now the instance shuts down just as it would if a SHUTDOWN IMMEDIATE statement was submitted. The next startup of the database will not require any instance recovery procedures.
    The LOCAL mode specifies a transactional shutdown on the local instance only, so that it only waits on local transactions to complete, not all transactions. This is useful, for example, for scheduled outage maintenance.
    Usage
    SHUTDOWN with no arguments is equivalent to SHUTDOWN NORMAL.
    You must be connected to a database as SYSOPER, or SYSDBA. You cannot connect via a multi-threaded server. For more information about connecting to a database, see the CONNECT command earlier in this chapter.

  • How to reinstall the database components of BI Publisher (11.1.1.5)

    Hi,
    We're using BI Publisher 11.1.1.5 installed within an existing Weblogic 10.3.6 instance running on Oracle Linux 5.6.
    We installed it against an existing 10g test database.
    We decided to refresh the database from the production system and we had to rebuild the test db from scratch, meaning we lost all BIP components installed in it.
    We re-ran the BIP RCU to create the schemas but we can't see how we can reinstall the other required BIP database components without doing a full deinstall and then install of everything.
    The other required db components are such things as the bipcatalog java classes. These are not installed by the RCU from what it seems.
    We have another test database with the BIP components in it and I can see them there so we could export/import them if necessary, but I thought there must be a way to use an assistant or something to do it.
    Any ideas how to go about reinstalling just the db objects?
    Thanks,
    Dave

    I have found out what it was that needed loading into the database, it wasn't BI Publisher specific after all. It is the database callout utility and JPublisher classes, which are used when calling out to invoke web services. They're loaded using loadjava command into the database.

  • Problem running batch file or OS command on XE database

    Hello, I´m trying to do the following, run a OS command from the database, especifically a 10g XE database and Windows XP sp3, since the database itself does not provide a Host command I did a C program and compiled it into a dll and then running an external procedure as a database Library. if I try something simple like creating a txt file it works just fine.
    the problem is when I try to run an export.
    when trying this:
    exp username/password file=file.dmp log=log.log owner=user
    I get this error
    ERROR: ORA-12560: TNS:protocol adapter error
    so, looking into that error over the internet someone suggested to put the @db , so I tried the following
    exp username/password@DB file=file.dmp log=log.log owner=user
    which I got from the TNSnames file, but then when I run the export on the database with a procedure it just hangs, checking the session it has the event "HS message to agent".
    any ideas why I'm getting that error? and what can I do to resolve it?
    thanks in advance

    RegardsPeople dont perform commands on the database level but they do it on the tables. So you would be setting the auditing on the objects actually. Not to nick pick but the terminology should be correctly used as it may come as an confusion later on. Depending on what you need, that type of auditing can be set on the table.

    Hello frnds
    In my test server I have to delete my database including all tablespaces and datafiles everything and create the new database with new character set which i need ,
    So i just need a sujjestion which is best method to delete a old database ...
    simply delete all the files from Operating system or is there any safe method to delete database
    environment:
    OS: Sunsolaris 10
    database:10g R2
    your sujjestions will be valuable for me
    thanks

    Hi!
    It's completely up to you how you delete a database. You may do it with OS rm command without any problems. Another way that is as safe as the rm command is the database configuration assistant that is also able to delete your DB. It is also possible to delete your DB with the DROP DATABASE commando from SQL*Plus. As I know there is no big difference in all three ways. My favorite way to drop a database is the DBCA because it is easy to use.
    yours sincerely

  • Does Checkpoint lock up the database

    Hi,
    My application runs an independant checkpoint thread every 30 secs. The application is a msg processing system and it seems every 30 seconds, queues start building up. Does BDB lock the internal log files and database while checkpointing is going on?
    Regards,
    Nishith

    Hi Nishith,
    First of all, provide the following information:
    - What is the BDB version you're using?
    - What is the HP-UX version you're running on?
    - Are the three databases associated, that is, is any of them a secondary database for one of the others? Are there subdatabases, that is, multiple database stored within a single physical file?
    - What is the number of writer threads?
    - I assume you've configured the DB_TXN_NOT_DURABLE flag for each database. Are you using implicit transactions (by configuring with the DB_AUTO_COMMIT flag) or explicit transactions (obtained through DB_ENV->txn_begin())? If explicit transactions are used, what is the number of writes enclosed within a transaction?
    - Are you performing reads transactionally? Are you using transactional cursors to perform reads, and if so, what is the isolation degree used (i.e. DB_READ_COMMITTED, DB_READ_UNCOMMITTED)?
    - What are the page sizes for the databases?
    - What is the output of running the "glance" tool?
    - What is the block size of the HFS/JFS file system (i.e. by default for UFS(HFS) it should be 64K)?
    Try the following suggestions:
    - Use the DB_ENV->get_mp_max_write() method to see the limitation on the number of sequential writes scheduled by the db library when flushing the cache's dirty pages. Try setting a lower limit (experiment with lower values each time).
    - Experiment with a larger size for the cache buffer pool.
    - Avoid creating databases with a considerable number of duplicate and overflow records.
    - Perform all the read operations outside of transactions; if you do enclose reads within transactions than adopt snapshot isolation (available as of 4.5.20) or relax the isolation degree. Also, try to use the DB_READ_COMMITTED flag with cursor read operations and make non-transactional cursors short lived.
    - Collect detailed statistics with the "db_stat" utility (if DB_PRIVATE is used when opening the environment collect the statistics programmatically):
    #db_stat -Zm -h <path_to_env>
    #db_stat -Zc -h <path_to_env>
    (the commands should be run for 2 or 3 consecutive checkpoints).

    Andrei

  • EJB 3.0 - JSF APPLICATION: DATA DOES NOT PERSIST TO THE DATABASE

    Hi,
    I am developing a JSF - EJB application and the data that I send from JSP Page through JSF Managed Bean --> Session Bean --> Java Persistence does not persist in database.
    Here is my scenario ( Iam using JDeveloper IDE to create this application) -
    SCENARIO START
    The scenario consists of two web pages, one enlisting all the users stored in the database, the other contains a form for adding a user
    1.) INDEX.JSP
    2.) ADDUSER.JSP
    Step 1: Create the USERS Table in database
    CREATE TABLE users
    user_id serial,
    username varchar(255) NOT NULL,
    first_name varchar(255),
    last_name varchar(255),
    password char(64) NOT NULL,
    CONSTRAINT pk_users PRIMARY KEY (user_id)
    Step 2: Add Database Connection To JDeveloper
    Go to Database Connection Navigator and create a New Database Connection using the Wizard
    Step 3: Create a New Application in JDeveloper and select JSF, EJB from Application Template
    Step 4: ENTITY BEAN - In the EJB Node Right Click and Select EJB à New Entites from Table (JPA/EJB3.0)
    Use The Wizard and create Entity Bean from Users Table which creates an Entity Bea POJO file as follows –
    User.java -
    package lux.domain;
    import java.io.Serializable;
    import javax.persistence.Column;
    import javax.persistence.Entity;
    import javax.persistence.GeneratedValue;
    import javax.persistence.GenerationType;
    import javax.persistence.Id;
    import javax.persistence.NamedQuery;
    import javax.persistence.SequenceGenerator;
    import javax.persistence.Table;
    @Entity
    @NamedQuery(name = "User.findAll", query = "select o from User o")
    @Table(name = "USERS")
    public class User implements Serializable {
    @Column(name="FIRST_NAME")
    private String firstName;
    @Column(name="LAST_NAME")
    private String lastName;
    @Column(nullable = false)
    private String password;
    @Column(nullable = false)
    private String username;
    @Id
    @GeneratedValue(strategy=GenerationType.SEQUENCE, generator="users_seq_generator")
    @SequenceGenerator(name="users_seq_generator", sequenceName="users_user_id_seq")
    @Column(name="USER_ID", nullable = false)
    private Long userId;
    public User() {
    public String getFirstName() {
    return firstName;
    public void setFirstName(String firstName) {
    this.firstName = firstName;
    public String getLastName() {
    return lastName;
    public void setLastName(String lastName) {
    this.lastName = lastName;
    public String getPassword() {
    return password;
    public void setPassword(String password) {
    this.password = password;
    public String getUsername() {
    return username;
    public void setUsername(String username) {
    this.username = username;
    public Long getUserId() {
    return userId;
    public void setUserId(Long userId) {
    this.userId = userId;
    Step 5: STATELESS SESSION BEAN - In the EJB Node Right Click and Select EJB à New Entites from Table (JPA/EJB3.0)
    Again Right Click on Model and create Session Bean from Wizard which creates two files –
    UserDAOBean.java – Stateless Session Bean
    UserDAO.java – Local Interface
    package lux.facade;
    import java.security.MessageDigest;
    import java.security.NoSuchAlgorithmException;
    import java.util.List;
    import java.util.logging.Level;
    import java.util.logging.Logger;
    import javax.ejb.Stateless;
    import javax.persistence.EntityManager;
    import javax.persistence.PersistenceContext;
    import javax.persistence.Query;
    import lux.domain.User;
    @Stateless(name="UserDAO")
    public class UserDAOBean implements UserDAO {
    @PersistenceContext(unitName="Model")
    private EntityManager em;
    public UserDAOBean() {
    public User getUser(int UserId) {
    User u = new User();
    u = em.find(User.class, UserId);
    return u;
    public List<User> getAllUsers() {
    Query q = em.createQuery("SELECT u FROM User u");
    List<User> users = q.getResultList();
    return users;
    public void createUser(User u) {
    String hashedPw = hashPassword(u.getPassword());
    u.setPassword(hashedPw);
    em.persist(u);
    public void updateUser(User u) {
    String hashedPw = hashPassword(u.getPassword());
    u.setPassword(hashedPw);
    em.merge(u);
    public void deleteUser(User u) {
    em.remove(u);
    private String hashPassword(String password) {
    StringBuilder sb = new StringBuilder();
    try {
    MessageDigest messageDigest = MessageDigest.getInstance("SHA");
    byte[] bs;
    bs = messageDigest.digest(password.getBytes());
    for (int i = 0; i < bs.length; i++) {
    String hexVal = Integer.toHexString(0xFF & bs);
    if (hexVal.length() == 1) {
    sb.append("0");
    sb.append(hexVal);
    } catch (NoSuchAlgorithmException ex) {
    Logger.getLogger(UserDAOBean.class.getName()).log(Level.SEVERE, null, ex);
    return sb.toString();
    Step 6: Create a Deployment file in the Model and Deploy this to a JAR file
    Step 7: Now Right Click on View/Controller Node and create a Java File –
    UserController.java -
    package lux.controllers;
    import javax.ejb.EJB;
    import javax.faces.model.DataModel;
    import javax.faces.model.ListDataModel;
    import lux.domain.User;
    import lux.facade.UserDAO;
    public class UserController {
    @EJB UserDAO userDao;
    private User user;
    private DataModel model;
    public String createUser() {

    WHAT IS WRONG OUT HERE ???

    If you set a breakpoint in your createUser method - does this code get executed?
    We have a couple of tutorials that might show you how to do this.

  • JSF - EJB 3.0 Application - Data does not persist to the database

    Hi,
    I am developing a JSF - EJB application and the data that I send from JSP Page through JSF Managed Bean --> Session Bean --> Java Persistence does not persist in database.
    Here is my scenario ( Iam using JDeveloper IDE to create this application) -
    ------------------------------------------------------- SCENARIO START
    The scenario consists of two web pages, one enlisting all the users stored in the database, the other contains a form for adding a user
    1.) INDEX.JSP
    2.) ADDUSER.JSP
    Step 1: Create the USERS Table in database
    CREATE TABLE users
    user_id serial,
    username varchar(255) NOT NULL,
    first_name varchar(255),
    last_name varchar(255),
    password char(64) NOT NULL,
    CONSTRAINT pk_users PRIMARY KEY (user_id)
    Step 2: Add Database Connection To JDeveloper
    Go to Database Connection Navigator and create a New Database Connection using the Wizard
    Step 3: Create a New Application in JDeveloper and select JSF, EJB from Application Template
    Step 4: ENTITY BEAN - In the EJB Node Right Click and Select EJB New Entites from Table (JPA/EJB3.0)
    Use The Wizard and create Entity Bean from Users Table which creates an Entity Bea POJO file as follows
    User.java -
    package lux.domain;
    import java.io.Serializable;
    import javax.persistence.Column;
    import javax.persistence.Entity;
    import javax.persistence.GeneratedValue;
    import javax.persistence.GenerationType;
    import javax.persistence.Id;
    import javax.persistence.NamedQuery;
    import javax.persistence.SequenceGenerator;
    import javax.persistence.Table;
    @Entity
    @NamedQuery(name = "User.findAll", query = "select o from User o")
    @Table(name = "USERS")
    public class User implements Serializable {
    @Column(name="FIRST_NAME")
    private String firstName;
    @Column(name="LAST_NAME")
    private String lastName;
    @Column(nullable = false)
    private String password;
    @Column(nullable = false)
    private String username;
    @Id
    @GeneratedValue(strategy=GenerationType.SEQUENCE, generator="users_seq_generator")
    @SequenceGenerator(name="users_seq_generator", sequenceName="users_user_id_seq")
    @Column(name="USER_ID", nullable = false)
    private Long userId;
    public User() {
    public String getFirstName() {
    return firstName;
    public void setFirstName(String firstName) {
    this.firstName = firstName;
    public String getLastName() {
    return lastName;
    public void setLastName(String lastName) {
    this.lastName = lastName;
    public String getPassword() {
    return password;
    public void setPassword(String password) {
    this.password = password;
    public String getUsername() {
    return username;
    public void setUsername(String username) {
    this.username = username;
    public Long getUserId() {
    return userId;
    public void setUserId(Long userId) {
    this.userId = userId;
    Step 5: STATELESS SESSION BEAN - In the EJB Node Right Click and Select EJB New Entites from Table (JPA/EJB3.0)
    Again Right Click on Model and create Session Bean from Wizard which creates two files
    UserDAOBean.java  Stateless Session Bean
    UserDAO.java  Local Interface
    package lux.facade;
    import java.security.MessageDigest;
    import java.security.NoSuchAlgorithmException;
    import java.util.List;

    import javax.persistence.PersistenceContext;
    import javax.persistence.Query;
    import lux.domain.User;
    @Stateless(name="UserDAO")
    public class UserDAOBean implements UserDAO {
    @PersistenceContext(unitName="Model")
    private EntityManager em;
    public UserDAOBean() {
    public User getUser(int UserId) {
    User u = new User();
    u = em.find(User.class, UserId);
    return u;
    public List<User> getAllUsers() {

    u.setPassword(hashedPw);
    em.merge(u);
    public void deleteUser(User u) {
    em.remove(u);
    private String hashPassword(String password) {

    sb.append(hexVal);
    } catch (NoSuchAlgorithmException ex) {
    Logger.getLogger(UserDAOBean.class.getName()).log(Level.SEVERE, null, ex);
    return sb.toString();
    Step 6: Create a Deployment file in the Model and Deploy this to a JAR file
    Step 7: Now Right Click on View/Controller Node and create a Java File
    UserController.java -
    package lux.controllers;
    import javax.ejb.EJB;
    import javax.faces.model.DataModel;
    import javax.faces.model.ListDataModel;
    import lux.domain.User;
    import lux.facade.UserDAO;
    public class UserController {
    @EJB UserDAO userDao;
    private User user;
    private DataModel model;
    public String createUser() {
    this.user = new User();
    return "create_new_user";
    public String saveUser() {
    String r = "success";
    try {
    userDao.createUser(user);
    } catch (Exception e) {
    e.printStackTrace();
    r = "failed";
    return r;
    public DataModel getUsers() {
    model = new ListDataModel(userDao.getAllUsers());
    return model;
    public User getUser() {
    return user;
    public void setUser(User user) {
    this.user = user;
    Step 8: Configure page flow in faces-config.xml
    1. Create the JSP file adduser.jsp by right-clicking View-Controller
    node and selecting New > JSP. Use the wizard to create JSF JSP Page, fill in

    public void updateUser(User u) {
    String hashedPw = hashPassword(u.getPassword());
    u.setPassword(hashedPw);
    em.merge(u);
    public void deleteUser(User u) {
    em.remove(u);
    private String hashPassword(String password) {
    StringBuilder sb = new StringBuilder();
    try {

    sb.append(hexVal);
    } catch (NoSuchAlgorithmException ex) {
    Logger.getLogger(UserDAOBean.class.getName()).log(Level.SEVERE, null, ex);
    return sb.toString();
    Step 6: Create a Deployment file in the Model and Deploy this to a JAR file
    Step 7: Now Right Click on View/Controller Node and create a Java File
    UserController.java -
    package lux.controllers;
    import javax.ejb.EJB;
    import javax.faces.model.DataModel;
    import javax.faces.model.ListDataModel;
    import lux.domain.User;
    import lux.facade.UserDAO;
    public class UserController {
    @EJB UserDAO userDao;
    private User user;
    private DataModel model;
    public String createUser() {
    this.user = new User();
    return "create_new_user";
    public String saveUser() {
    String r = "success";
    try {
    userDao.createUser(user);
    } catch (Exception e) {
    e.printStackTrace();
    r = "failed";
    return r;
    public DataModel getUsers() {
    model = new ListDataModel(userDao.getAllUsers());
    return model;
    public User getUser() {
    return user;
    public void setUser(User user) {
    this.user = user;
    Step 8: Configure page flow in faces-config.xml
    1. Create the JSP file adduser.jsp by right-clicking View-Controller
    node and selecting New > JSP. Use the wizard to create JSF JSP Page, fill in
    File Name adduser.jsp, click Finish. -
    <%@page contentType="text/html"%>
    <%@page pageEncoding="UTF-8"%>
    <%@taglib prefix="f" uri="http://java.sun.com/jsf/core"%>
    <%@taglib prefix="h" uri="http://java.sun.com/jsf/html"%>
    <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN"
    "http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/loose.dtd">

    <head>
    <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=UTF-8">
    <title>New user</title>
    </head>
    <body>
    <f:view>
    <h:form>
    <h:messages/>
    <h:panelGrid columns="2">
    <h:outputText value="Username"/>
    <h:inputText
    id="Username"
    value="#{user.user.username}"
    required="true"/>
    <h:outputText value="First name"/>
    <h:inputText
    id="FirstName"
    value="#{user.user.firstName}" />
    <h:outputText value="Last name"/>
    <h:inputText
    id="LastName"
    value="#{user.user.lastName}" />
    <h:outputText value="Password" />
    <h:inputSecret
    id="Password"
    value="#{user.user.password}"
    required="true" />
    <h:panelGroup/>
    <h:commandButton
    action="#{user.saveUser}"
    value="Save"/>
    </h:panelGrid>
    </h:form>
    </f:view>
    </body>
    </html>
    2. Repeat the previous step for another JSP file failed.jsp.
    3. On failed.jsp add the string
    Save failed
    Next we configure the page flow.
    1. Open faces-config.xml.
    2. Create index.jsp -
    <%@page contentType="text/html"%>
    <%@page pageEncoding="UTF-8"%>
    <%@taglib prefix="f" uri="http://java.sun.com/jsf/core"%>
    <%@taglib prefix="h" uri="http://java.sun.com/jsf/html"%>
    <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN"
    "http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/loose.dtd">
    <html>
    <head>
    <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=UTF-8">
    <title>User Listing</title>
    </head>
    <body>
    <f:view>
    <h:form>
    <h:outputText value="User Listing"/>
    <h:commandLink action="#{user.createUser}" value="Create a user"/>
    <h:dataTable value="#{user.user}"
    var="dataTableItem" border="1" cellpadding="2" cellspacing="2">
    <h:column>
    <f:facet name="header">
    <h:outputText value="Username"/>
    </f:facet>
    <h:outputText value="#{dataTableItem.username}" />
    </h:column>
    <h:column>
    <f:facet name="header">
    <h:outputText value="First name"/>
    </f:facet>
    <h:outputText value="#{dataTableItem.firstName}" />
    </h:column>
    <h:column>
    <f:facet name="header">
    <h:outputText value="Last name"/>
    </f:facet>
    <h:outputText value="#{dataTableItem.lastName}" />
    </h:column>
    </h:dataTable>
    </h:form>
    </f:view>
    </body>
    </html>
    3. Drag an arrow from index.jsp to adduser.jsp and replace the arrows label to create_new_user.
    4. Repeat the previous step for failed, by dragging and arrow from adduser.jsp to failed.jsp renaming the label to f
    ailed
    5. Finally repeat the step for adduser.jsp, by dragging from adduser.jsp to index.jsp renaming the label to success.
    This creates the following faces-config.xml file
    <?xml version='1.0' encoding='UTF-8'?>
    <faces-config>
    <managed-bean>
    <managed-bean-name>user</managed-bean-name>

    Step 9: Create a Deployment file in the View-Controller and Deploy this to a WAR file
    Step 10: Create a Deployment file in the View-Controller and create an EAR file and add Models JAR and View-Controllers
    WAR files to it.
    Step 11: Run the JSP Files
    SCENARIO END
    Now, When I execute Index.jsp, it does not list values from database and when I click on Create User link, it takes me to adduser.jsp page. When I fill values in this page and click Save button, it takes me to Save Failed page and data does not persist to the database.
    WHAT IS WRONG OUT HERE ???

    If you set a breakpoint in your createUser method - does this code get executed?
    We have a couple of tutorials that might show you how to do this.

  • How to save a fmb in the database thru command prompt?

    Hi,
    How to save a fmb in the database thru command prompt?
    I have around 25 fmb template files which needs to be saved in the database.Every time when we apply the new dump , we need to resave the templates in the database to compile other application related fmb files.Its a time consuming process and Monotonous for me. Is there anyway to save the forms in the database thru batch file, so that just I have to execute the batch file every time.
    Expecting your earliest feedback.
    Thanks & Regards,

    Hi Frank,
    Thanks for your feeback.
    I am using forms6i.Basically our application was migrated from 4.5 to 6i two years back. Due to some reasons our technical team members are insisting us to store the template FMB's into the database to do the coding activities at site.
    Once in a month we are receiving the live dump for test database.Hence the problem.
    Please suggest the easiest way to store the template FMBs in the database.
    Thanks & Regards,
    G.S
