Does FCPX have H 265 codec support?

As Apple issued a new update support for H 265 codec for FCPX?

I guess, a consumer cam from *YouKnowWho* is no real trigger for Apple …
as mentioned before: Only the iPhone6 utilizes h.265 yet in the  ecosphere.- But not for 'broadcast' but FaceTime only …
BUT ....
as mentioned too:
aerial UHD paws the ground (big discussion actually here in Germany: all DBVT hardware obsolete 2017!) …
on consumer computers h.264 encoding is hardware accelerated… so, it probably needs some really coding 'tricks' to encode new h.265  on 'old' GPUs within a comparable time-frame..... who will be first egg or hen new chips or new software-codecs?
whoooo, we scratch along the Terms of Use of this boards real close ............................... (no speculation about future products)

  • What can I do in Adobe that I can't in FCPX? + Why does FCPX have a bad reputation

Somewhere else, I was told that disgruntled Apple users where going to Adobe and leaving FCPX
    Why is this?
What can be done in the Adobe suite of programs that isn't handled well in FCPX?
Is FCPX an all in one solution?
Does it allow me to do everything that can be done in After Effects for example? (I ask without actually knowing what After Effects is for - I've just heard it mentioned looadds)
Why does FCPX have a bad reputation?
I've read that it's not backwards compatible with previous version
That *****! But... doesn't effect me as I'm coming in as a new user

Different editors have different needs, and while FCP X offers some really innovative features it lacks other things that some editors need in order to be competitive/get work in their environment. It is not just what you can actually edit (read: tell a story) with a piece of software but also about format support, workflows, collaboration to name just a few.
FCP X is an editor with a few effects built in, in addition to which you can get Compressor for output and Motion for VFX. Adobe actually offers a whole suite of products that range from editing to VFX, from color grading to Blu-Ray authoring.

FCP X is not an all-in-one solution. As I said above it is an editor with a few built-in effects and titles.
After Effects is for visual effects, green screen .... stuff like that. It is quite powerful but does not actually have anything to do with editing itself (that is Premiere)

Because when it was released many features that editors were relying on/accustomed to were missing (XML support to name only one at random) which caused many to switch to Adobe or Avid. That fact that some of these features were added back in subsequent updates didn't really seem to repair the damage.
Since you are a new user get the trial version and give it a go. You will need a fast machine with lots of RAM and fast external storage.

  • Does it have a feature that supports management with accounts, fixed IP, VLAN ?

I'm not quite familiar with those advanced features if it does exist as the fact that i've been primarily using cheap and unknown AP products for years :D I'm planning on upgrading my APs for personal reasons. Could anyone tell me does it have a feature that likely supports management with accounts, fixed IP, VLAN? What is it called and which product could fit my needs?
    Thanks.

  • My new macbook pro (Mountain Lion) will not log into my 1and1 server to connect to my e mail. My snow leopard macbook does not have this problem - Apple support say it is a 1and1 problem! do I have to wait for an update of Mountain Lion?

My new macbook pro (Mountain Lion 10.8.1) will not log into my 1and1 outgoing mail server. ( It will receive mail - but does not send)My old Snow Leopard macbook does not have the same problem ( server settings etc. are identical) . Apple Support say its a 1and1 problem , 1and1 say it is an operating System prob - I have tried changing port numbers.

My eyes just glazed over...Please in the future break down each of your issues with paragraphs separated by two carriage returns. It would be much easier when trying to address your issues.
Go to Apple menu -> System Preferences -> Keyboard and Mouse -> Mouse
And edit your mouse settings to do what you want it to do.
Secondly, this is not the place to vent. If you have a complaint, there is:
    http://www.apple.com/feedback/
    or http://www.apple.com/contact/
We are just end users here helping other end users.
Third, from my understanding, it would appear you are concerned about the noise the hard drive makes when it falls asleep? Why not put your machine in screen saver mode instead? Apple menu -> System Preferences -> Energy Saver turn off all Energy Saver settings, or set them to run Never.
Fourth, if your machine was purchased just a few days ago, you may still be able to get an exchange from the store, quicker than you can get a repair done. You may want to look into that possibility.
Fifth, it does appear you found the Logic forum. I would persist in asking there how to solve your technical issue with Logic regarding the audio. It may be you don't have to do anything special to the hard drive. Remember audio can be transmitted by wire, avoiding ambient sounds.
    Good luck!

  • Elements 9 - 'Does not have the required Codec' - can anyone help??

Hi - I thought I had solved my video playing issues but apparently not! Elements is telling I don't have the right Codec installed on this machine so I looked on the Help forum and it seemed I needed Dolby AC3 so I searched around for this and found what I thought I needed but now the video's only play a short burst (example one minute out of 4). My machine is on Windows 7 64 bit and I would really appreciate any help!
    thanks
    Chris

I would recommend you to ask this on Premier Elements Forums and you will find less people here who play videos in Organizer.

  • Does FireFox have a feature that supports the opening of multiple tabs or windows from a single URL?

IE, clicking on or copy-pasting "http://www.google.com&http://www.aol.com" in the navigation bar would open two separate tabs or windows, one that shows www.google.com and one that shows www.aol.com.

    Yes, see https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Location+bar+search
It doesn't work anymore in Firefox 7 if there are multiple domains like support.mozilla

  • Does any have a solution for supporting 2 DVI monitors on an Intel xServe

Can anyone tell me how to configure two DVI monitors to a mid-2009 Apple xServe3.1 running OS X Server 10.5.8 that only has a miniDisplayPort?

Before recommending using a PCI Express 2.0 video please identify any such solution with a manufacture and model identification of the adapter that will work with this series of Apple xServe. I.A.W. Apple reps. there no PCI Express video adapters that are available presently that will work with the Intel based xServe systems.

  • Does FCPX have a "Morph" feature to merge clips?

I am editing an interview and I need to cut out a section in the middle of the interview.
I've got the audio edit perfect, but the person's head jumps from one frame to the next.
I wonder if there is some kind of built in morph or blend feature that can go back say 5 frames and go forward say 5 frames and create a 10 frame transition that would barely be noticable?
If that's not feasible, is it possible to do a crossfade on a multicam clip?

Yes, that is standard editing practice, and something editors deal with daily.  A morphing solution would still look very unnatural.
Yes, you can do transitions and effects on Multicam clips just like any other Timeline editing.

  • Does Adobe have plan to support outgoing HTTPS reuqests

    Hi,
It looks like on AMS it's not possible to make an HTTPS request at all. I tried with XML class and LoadVars class. It looks like AMS is not even trying to make any connection when the URL has HTTPS:// on it. The online references I was able to find indicate that it's not supported in AMS. If I am not wrong, Does Adobe have any plan to support this in future?
    Thanks

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
An authoritative answer to your question requires access to and revelation of "insider" as well as "forward looking" information...both of which are forbidden on this site. Rather, all that can be said is individual opinion and theory. But, based on how things have migrated with BB10, my opinion is that the answer is no.
Note, please, that there is a vast difference in pricing in different regions of the world. For example, in my country, a BIS plan costs significantly more than the non-BIS plans, making BB10 devices much more affordable (from the monthly cost perspective) than legacy devices that required BIS.
    Good luck!

  • Does FCPX support 60p?

    Does FCPX support 60p?

    Hi Tom,
I'm using a Sony HDR-CX130 and shooting in 60p for best quality (and hopefully best for FCP editing).
I downloaded trial version of ClipWrap to enable usage of the MTS files. Your forum discussion headed me in the direction of ClipWarp by the way. My question is which Output Format to use. By the way (and I realize how tedious and time consuming it might be to repeat or paste a link to the info) it would be so very helpful to us new to many of these things to include details of how to use the recommended item. I am guessing that you have ascertained that the "Use ClipWrap" alone can be a wee bit frustrating. Ok, as to the question, I find these available options for output format along with the file size for 1 minute that the trial version will process:
Rewrap (don't alter video samples)         60.5 MB
Apple Intermediate Codec (AIC)           427.2 MB
         Apple ProRes 422                               612.9 MB
Apple ProRes 422 HQ                         915.9 MB
         DVCProHD                                            489 MB
         DV                                                     128.9 MB
         HDV                                                   113.3 MB
    All generated an .mov file.
I've eliminated the last 3 as they seem to distort the aspect ratio (and resultant image squishing the side making the image taller and thinner than actual.
I thought I read previous postings from you that indicated one only need to Rewrap. That made the first choice appear to be the appropriate one. When viewing the .mov file with Quicktime, the audio was as expected but the video image lagged, dragged, stuttered, froze while the audio continued as expected. Yes, it is an antique by today's standards - I am using an old G5 and waiting for Apple to come out with a Mac Pro that has a thunderbolt connection but I thought that info might help the diagnosis. In addition, this file entered into FCP brings the machine to its knees as well producing the spinning beachball of death.
The choices 2-4 above generated a Quicktime file that worked like a charm. I have not attempted to import into FCP as I am thinking I could get the answer to my question more accurately from here rather than a lengthy trial and error session that might also include something I am overlooking - not a pretty site several months down the road.
Ok, which Output Format should I use when I want the following in order of importance?:
No loss in quality (that is the reason for HD in the first place)
         Ease of use with FCP
Fastest when considering editing, final encoding, burning, etc. in FCP and DVD Studio Pro
Speed with which ClipWrap does its thing.
Some consideration of disk space but this is very low in the list. Disk space is cheap and I don't mind adding drives. I am planning a large raid storage purchase in the near future that will communicate using thunderbolt.
Thanks for all your help - you are the best.
    Bruce

  • Does FCPX support .exr files?

    Does FCPX support .exr files?

Industrial Light pioneers this codec; HDR (high dynamic range) file.  I'm not sure FCPX accepts it natively, so you may need to convert it to Apple ProRes first.  What camera are you using that records exr?  Also see link below:

  • Does Apple Canada have the worst customer support ever?

    Yes! Ask me why...
I'm posting here a) to warn other Mac users what to expect if you ever need customer support and b) because there's no where you can actually e-mail comments to Apple, and trying to contact customer support has been fruitless (see below).
    Here's what happened to me...
I bought my iBook just under three years ago - a few weeks ago, the logic board went. Now, because I purchased the computer less than three years ago, that's covered under the extended warranty for iBook logic boards (see here: http://www.apple.com/support/ibook/faq/).
Simple, right? Well, I took my computer in to my local authorized service provider about three weeks ago. They confirmed the logic board was the problem... copied my receipt for the iBook to prove date of purchase... agreed that it was covered by the warranty.
However, when they sent all this to Apple, their reply was that it was NOT covered because it was manufactured more than three years ago (although Apple's own website says it's purchase date - not manufacture date - that's important).
I called Apple last Monday to find out what was going on. Spoke to a nice fellow named Kevin who said he'd look into it, and call me back the next day.
Next day passed... no call. I called Kevin back left a message, and indicated I'd like to know what was going on.
Wednesday passed... no call. By this point, I'm getting anxious - the service provider can't move ahead without authoriztion from Apple, Apple's not returning my calls (or the service provider's) to grant authorization.
I tried Kevin again on Thursday. Left another message. No reply.
Tried back on Friday morning. Left another message. Still no reply.
Called customer support again Friday night. Antoine puts me hold for a half hour. I call back, explain that I've been on hold for half an hour, ask how long the wait should be. Antoine says two or three minutes. He puts me on hold again.
    For another ten minutes.
I call back. Antoine explains that the reason I'm on hold is probably because customer service is closed. So why was I on hold for nearly an hour listening to terrible music? That's one of the mysteries of Apple customer support...
So here I am, with a computer that's been in the shop nearly three weeks, that can't be repaired because Apple won't honour its warranty, and no way to even find out what's going on, because Apple's customer service is such an unnavigable maze.
The sad thing is, I usually like Apples. I was even going to buy a new one this summer.
    Now - not a chance.
The moral of the story? If you own an Apple, pray nothing ever goes wrong with it. If you expect your computer to ever need repairs, I'd suggest getting rid of your Apple now.
If you're considering buying an Apple - consider again.
As for me - from now on, make mine Microsoft.
    iBook G3 700   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

Does Apple Canada have the worst customer support ever?
    I doubt it.
Seriously, would you like some help?
Call back, and don't mess around with Customer Service. Immediately ask for Customer Relations. These are the people whose job it is to make an unhappy customer happy again. They aim to please.
A polite, but seriously disappointed tone of voice is what you need, so take some deep breaths until you can achieve that.
There was an article in the February, 2005, issue of Reader's Digest called "How to Complain." Please read these tips. Then call and tell Customer Relations your sad experience with Customer Service.
    How to Complain
You call customer service to complain about a product, and you hang up angrier than when you started. That’s customer rage, a feeling experienced by millions of people with a major complaint, says Scott Broetzmann, president of an American firm that tells companies how to offer the best customer service. His secrets to getting good service:
    Have a goal
If you want your product repaired, say so. Want an apology? Speak up.
    Keep it short
Focus on one problem, and be succinct.
    Stick with it.
You have to invest the time it takes. Don’t get what you want? Ask for a supervisor.
    Skip ultimatums
Don’t threaten not to do business with them again. Why should they help you if you won’t buy from them in the future?
    Plead your case
Many companies have information such as how much money you’ve spent with them and how often you complain. If you’re a good customer, they may be more willing to help.
    Be nice
You’re unlikely to get what you want if you’re rude.
    Good luck!
(P.S. Microsoft doesn't make computers; just the crappy OS that goes on them.)

  • Does Adobe have a tech support contact for Flash on browsers?

I am looking how to escalate to Adobe Tech Support but paying 29 bux an hour for some recruited college Grad that knows to little doesnt suit me.
Bought an HP Quad and it had Win7 home so poorly installed, configured, overloaded with junk, would not backup, when it did backup and create a repair disk they wouldnt restore.  HP's preloaded Win7 build both IE8 and Firefox were crashing with both BSOD and Browsers not responding and dying. Firefox never responds to anything, Microsoft indicates is an add on problem but I think it can be a flash issue although it occurs much more on Wiin7 (ANY Version) for 32 or 64 bit.  I have been screwing with this for a month screaming at Microsoft and Mozilla but its a waste of time.
Microsoft forums are polluted for Win7 browser BSOD and Browser halting then crashing posts, there answer is disable add-ons.  I cant surf the net without add ons so that is a stupid reponse of finger pointing, giving appearance that Msoft, Adobe and Mozilla dont communicate.  No company will take ownership and drive the issue to find the root cause and where ever that cause is make them fix it, Msfot, Adobe of Firefox.   so what do ya do?
The HP PC with horrible preload of win7 finally died and killed the build but Microsoft was equally useless in helping me repair that preloaded junk even though the OS is theres.    I BOUGHT real disks because HP couldnt support the mess - HP couldnt support chewing food let alone the mess they place on PC's with 90% asian parts with old drivers.   Eleven escaltions starting on DAY 1 of ownership of a Pavilion.  Hundreds of crash dump error reports sent to Firefox has still gone unresponsed, as they employ the 5th ammendment ,method of silence without support and Msoft remove all add on is laughable but proves HP. Firefox and MicroSoft wont assume responsibilty.
This sucks as all three gloat and boast about a HIGH levels of support and awards won for support but it is all myth, and laughably a lie but I still want it repaired.   28 years in IT - retired I feel qualififed to make the observation.
I never attempted to contact Adobe but I get redirected after seeing the warning about 39 bucks an hour to answer a phone for a freeware add-on.
Does anyone know of have a escalation path to a real person at adobe or department beause tthis site redirects from the ASK Adobe Support link meaning I cant even mail a question to then,  Already a BAD sign but the driver is free, but they wrote, and millions are having issue so where is there support -  Why bother writing  the addon if people cant even ask a question.
So does any know if they support the flash add-on without charging?     a Glitch they might want to know about is flash 10.0.0.1 shows in Win7 Event logs as version 0.0.0.1 and I have logs showing that an addon report from the DEP (Data Execution Service) saw an add-on go to a non executalbe memory region whenthe only add-on I have is flash.
Google for IE8 Browser Crash 566,500, Win7 Browser crash 1,500,000,  Firefox crashing 587,000, Firefox flash crash 1,420,000, Adobe flash crash 1,820,000,   are 4,615,500 google posts found for one issue and I know there are more than that failing but Im sick of the whole thing so adobe is my last gasp.   Please respond if you have a fix or path to escalate to adobe.
    Thanks.
What a mess that no company so far stands up willing to take ownership of this just to find the root cause.

I don't have a definitive answer, but I would guess you won't find a tech support service dedicated to the Flash Player since it is free software and customers apparently have problems getting tech support for the products they buy.  But here are a couple of things worth considering.
Try posting/looking thru the Flash Player forum...
    http://forums.adobe.com/community/webplayers/flash_player
    Try submitting a bug report...
