Does running multiple tasks on the multifunction DAQ card cuase any problems ?

Dear all,
I woul like to use the 6024E card for running atleast 3 tasks simultaneously, does it cause any problem ?
Any software issues?
I have a 3.0 GhHz HT processor with 256 MB Ram.
Any issues with labview ?

Increasing RAM will always help. Especially since you are running with only 256 MB RAM, for any type of work now days I would recommend 512 MB, if not 1GB. Now if you are getting LabVIEW to crash with a minimal application going this may indicate other problems. If you have a memory leak in your program, that could cause a crash and with 256 MB of RAM you will see a crash sooner, but it can still happen even with 512MB or 1GB. So double check for any memory leaks. Minimize the number of programs running in the back ground. If LabVIEW crashes with any kind of error, that would give us a good indication what is going on.

Disallow running multiple instances of the same web start application..

on the client? I have an application that is launched on the client by clicking on the link to the JNLP file. The problem is that I don't want the application to launch twice if the user clicks the link twice. Is there a way to keep web start from running multiple instances of the same app?
I don't want to just disable the button after it is clicked because then the user won't be able to get back in if they need to.
Any help out there?

The way I do this is to try connect to an obscure port number on the localhost at startup.
if this connection succeeds I assume the app is already running. otherwise the program continues and registers as a server at that port number.
I actually take this a little bit further by registering a web server at this port (I use the Brazil server), That way if the program finds an instance of itself running it can send a message to the web server and ask the program to do something (like start another window if,for instance you wanted to allow this but only within the same VM).

This is so our guests cannot tamper or disable the device. We are already using Apple Configurator but their does not seem to be a way to lock down settings without a PIN.

You can find several examples that will work with the DAQCard-1200 at zone.ni.com/libraries/.
Then look under Data Acquisition. There are also examples that ship with
LV and NIDAQ. Look in ...\Labview\examples\daq\anlogin\.

Go to a place in France and purchase an iTunes gift card. You should be able to use that in the French iTunes store if you have a French address associated with your iTunes account.

Maybe your firewall or security software are preventing the download from finishing. You could try disabling them until you finish the download

What am I doing wrong when running multiple applications with the Web Server enabled ?

I am running multiple Vi's (applications) on the same Nt Workstation and the Web Server is enable for all applications. However, I am able to view only one Panel from the browser. Only the first application that is started can be viewed. What am I doing wrong ?

Only one application can act as a web server at the default http port 80.
To solve this either run all VIs into a single application or use different
http ports for each application. For example an application can use the
default port 80 and others use ports 8080, 8081, 8082 etc.
In the browser, you enter the URL for non default ports as
http://hostname:8080/...

How do I run multiple channels in the same VI?

I am trying to analyze two signals, one temp, the other strain. I have configured my two tasks using MAX, and written separate VIs which work fine when run independently. Now I want to measure the two signals and output the data on two separate graphs within one VI, but when I run the VI I keep getting an error stating that the "resource is already reserved" (or something to that effect). I tried adding a channel to an existing task, and building the VI but that didn't work (both signals showed up on both graphs). I also tried using two separate tasks but that when I get the aforementioned error. How do I get each channel to show up on different graphs?
I am using: M-Series DAQ card 6259, SC-2345 and SCC modules, with Labview 8.0

I have a program that runs in Java Console. I need to run multiple copies of the program. I can't do this with tabs. Can I do it with separate windows/processes

The program in question was implemented as a Java applet that runs in a browser. The developer says it must run under the Java Console and that I cannot run more than one copy of it in a given browser technology (e.g., Firefox); but I can run multiple copies if I use, eg, Firefox for one, IE 32 bit for another, Chrome for a 3rd and IE 64 bit for a 4th. I have tested this, and this does work.
Why would it not be the case if I spawned a completely different Firefox instance/process? When asked this question, the developer said, no, you have to run a different browser implementation to get a distinct Java Console for each one.
Does this make sense in general, or, more importantly, is it true for Firefox?

It is working for me if I open a second Firefox instance with its own profile by starting Firefox with the -no-remote command line switch.

Has anyone run multiple instances of essbase on the same server, using the agentport command? If so, how well did it work and what do you think about running it in a production environment?Thanks alot!

I have tested it, but the documentation does not recommend using this feature in production. Will execution of VISA tasks with one DAQ (Dev1) in one VI block VISA tasks with the second DAQ (Dev2) in a second VI?

I have two functional VIs. One loops a set of read and write tasks with Device 1 (NI USB-6008). The second loops a set of write tasks with Device 2 (another NI USB-6008). VI 2 has a massively slower timescale than VI 1, meaning that it must run in a separate loop. Otherwise, VI 2 was created by copying and modifying VI 1, and shares variable names with it (though not, for example, global variables). Both VIs are intended to run at the same time on the same PC.
However, if VI 1 is running at the same time as VI 2, none of the read or write operations to Device 1 in VI 1 are executed---but the VISA read and write operations to a serial device do work. Upon stopping VI 2, all the functions in VI 1 work fine.
Though I configured the channels for the tasks using the DAQmx GUI, I execute the tasks using the DAQmx read and write commands, and have properly set the "create task" and "stop task" VIs outside the beginning and end of my loop, respectively.
Does anyone have suggestions for what might be causing this? My thoughts so far:
a. Perhaps there is some conflict in variable names in memory between the two VIs?
b. Can LabVIEW for some reason not read and write two devices from two separate VIs?
c. Do I need to avoid using DAQmx to configure these tasks (some sort of memory conflict)?
I know I can make it all work if I combine everything into one massive VI, but for my application it is far easier and better to have them in two separate VIs.

In case anyone was wondering, I found the solution:
When I copied the original code to a new VI, it turns out that the timed loop structures in the new VI had the same object name in LabVIEW's execution structure as the timed loop structures in the original VI. This was effectively preventing whichever VI was executed second from executing its timed loop. (The serial read/write contined to work because it was in a different timed loop.)
I found this error when I ran the VI in highlight execution mode, and noticed that the "error" output on the timed loop flashed. When I wired it into my error stream, I found error -808, which explained the problem above.
I fixed it by right clicking on the timed loop, changing it to a while loop, and then changing it back to a timed loop and reconnecting any broken wires. LabVIEW gave the new timed loop object a new name, and all was well in the universe.
