Adobe Updater keeps doing the same update (CS4 Air 1.5)

Every time I run Adobe Updater it finds the same 100 Mb update - Flash 10.0.0.1 Adobe AIR 1.5 Update. Then, it downloads it and installs it. It notifies me that the installing process was completed. But when I run the Adobe Updater again, there is the same update. And it just goes on and on. I've even tried logging in as root and running the updater in case it needs to modify something outside normal bounds but it didn't help.
Does anyone have suggestions as to where the problem might be? I know some of you really prefer to install everything manually but I'm still considering that the last resort - if I can get the automatic updater to work, I'm a happy camper again!

The update will not affect the splash screen or About Page
version number.
For a quick check you can try creating an AIR package or an
AIR preview. If everything works smooth then the installation would
have been a success.
The other details related to installation on a Mac should be
seen on all other Adobe app and not restricted to Fireworks alone.

Why does the Adobe App Mgr incorrectly insist on a Creative Cloud subscription?

I have valid and active licenses for many Adobe products, all associated with my Adobe ID. I was using a CS6 license key just fine, until the Adobe Application Manager started complaining and asking for a cloud sub renewal. I do not want to run this under a cloud sub. I have the full license key already. But the Adobe App Mgr does not provide a way to enable it. What to do?

I would like to remove the Adobe Updater from my menu bar for my Mac, I found a lot of instruction to remove it for other versions of the updater, but the I can't find that option in the new CS6 updater.
If there is a way to completely stop the updater from running, that would be useful too.
I also don't understand why the updater say "4" in the menu bar, I only have Photoshop installed, and there are no update avaiable.

I am one of the many for whom Application Manager just started to crash every time I tried to open it. I was also getting the 'trial' dialog box, then a request for a serial number, even though I subscribe to Creative Cloud.
After hours with Adobe Tech Support, I have gone the around-your-elbow-to-get-to-your-mouth method of creating a second user and installing CC apps there...hopefully this is temporary situation, but a girl has to work.

It crashes every time...besides, Tech Support had me send it to the trash and delete it. I went to my other user ID, updated all, but I'm still showing the annoying update badge in my original menu bar. [Altho' Camera Raw failed to update...that's another issue]
Please advise. I had CS5.5 Design Premium...maybe it would be easier just to upgrade that to CS6 and ditch Creative Cloud!

I found this thread, but it doesn't work. When I click on the Updater icon, then click "Open updater," it opens the Creative Cloud instead. I haven't found a way to remove the updater icon from within Creative cloud.

Found it, thanks to later posts in that thread I mentioned in the OP. Here is what they suggest (you have to use Photoshop):
1. In Photoshop, go to Help >Updates:
2. Click "Preferences" at the bottom right.
3. Uncheck the box labeled "Notify me of new updates on the menu bar." Then click "Ok."

Are you just starting with PSE and no previous experience? If so I sympathise because I found the Adobe Help function very frustrating and unhelpful because it is features based rather than functionality in grades of expertise.
Start with tutorials on the Organiser work space and then Editor work space to familiarise yourself with the functions of the work spaces. However be aware that the you will not grasp full functionality until you have used PSE for a while.
If you are starting out wanting to process images then I found the concept of "workflow" the most useful way to approach PSE. That is;
Import images from camera
Sort images into ones worth processing. I use my camera's software to do this. Use a star rating. (PSE recognises this).
Import to PSE for processing
Process RAW images (if applicable).
Process converted images (PSD of TIFF probably the best). Use guided edit to start with.
Save processed images to JPEG for printing.

CS2 The Adobe Updater could not be started...

After installing CS2 on my new Vista computer when I start Photoshop I get the message "The Adobe Updater could not be started, please reinstall application and components."
Knowledgebase ID 331634 offers solutions for Windows 2000 and XT, but not for Vista.
Anybody here got a clue?
