Does xa transaction enable by default for reads also?

Our environment is weblogic 11g, oracle, jms and mostly webservices.
Using XA driver. datasource as TX
Transactions are working fine for all the updates, we are wrapping the statements with begin, commit/rollback.
Problem is, it is also using the transactions for database read operations. In the code, we are not explicitely opening any transactions. Do i have to change the settings somewhere? Or manually disable the transaction in the code for read operations?
Edit: we are also using Spring framework, does the transactions getting initiated from spring? I dont have much experience with it.

OS X uses the connection that is first in the list of ports in Network preferences. You can rearrange by clicking on the options button below the list, select re-order, then arrange. OS X also by default connects to the Ethernet port to which the cable is connected unless you have both ports connected to separate routers. Then the order is determined by the port listing.

Disabling touch mode by default for Reader XI

I am looking to turn off touch mode by default for Reader XI. I tried the customization wizard and there is no settings for touch mode. The registry keys for the settings are in the local user area so I don't think I can apply those for everyone.
Has anyone else looked into this or know a solution?

You can set how Acrobat enters Touch mode, if at all, for touch enabled-devices.
Choose Edit > Preferences (Windows) or Acrobat/Adobe Reader > Preferences (Mac OS).
Under Categories, select General.
In Basic Tools, choose the desired default setting from the Touch Mode menu.

Does ES Designer enable 2D barcodes for an unlimited number of Reader users?

I've the Acrobat Pro License, and I'm considering to purchase LiveCycle Designer ES separately.
But first I've to be sure about two issues.
I read from Acrobat Pro Extended Guide that I can enable Reader user to save form data:

This feature is avaible with a limit of either 500 addressees for the form or 500 "data extraction" also with the Acrobat professional license (license agreement 14.13.3 ).

Is it true?
Form enabling for Reader users is also necessary when adding a 2D barcode:

Otherwise the barcode is rendered in an encrypted way and can't be decrypted.
Can you confirm to me that Acobat Pro + LiveCycle extended makes me able to enable the 2D Barcode capability so that barcodes will not be encrypted?

So first of all, if you have bought and installed Adobe Acrobat Professional then you also have Adobe LiveCycle Designer ES (for PC only). You do not need to buy it seperately.
If you would like to extend your forms beyond the license provided in the EULA with Acrobat Professional then you will need to buy Adobe LiveCycle Reader Extensions ES or Adobe LiveCycle Barcoded Forms ES if you wish to use Barcoded Forms. Designer alone does not change the licensing.

XA transactions enabled by default

I would like to check if XA transactions are enabled by default on installation of Oracle10gR2 Enterprise, and 11g? I believe it is, however I wanted to know what controls this during the install.
I would also like to know how to verify if this is installed by interrogating the database with some query?
I've seen a similar post with no replies: How to check if XA transactions are enabled?
I also see many references from IBM's WebSphere documentation stating a need to initialise the JServer and XA transactions using initjvm.sql and initxa.sql. However I've also read resources that suggest the XA transaction support is installed by default:
'The initXA.sql script needs to be run before XA transactions will work. These are usually installed by default in 10gR2.'

Thanks very much for your response. I had actually checked the orafaq you linked to but was worried it may not be up to date for the current oracle versions, as after stating:
'Oracle is XA compliant by default'
I see that there are specific script steps listed to run (xaview.sql) for a much older version of Oracle 7.3.
I have also just looked at My Oracle Support note 1201244.1 'Health check list when configuring XA Transaction in Oracle SOA 11g'
For the database this states :
•Verify if XA is enabled in the participating database server. The steps to prepare the database for XA are:
1.Log on to sqlplus as system user, for example, sqlplus sys/CHANGE_ON_INSTALL
2.Execute the following command: @xaview.sql The xaview.sql script resides in the $ORACLE_HOME/rdbms/admin directory
Now it doesn't actually give instructions for how to verify if this is enabled, it just instructs to verify, and then gives steps on how to enable it.
Elsewhere in the article it describes checking necessary parameters using:
'show parameter distributed_lock_timeout;'
Is having a value here sufficient to verify that it has been configured?
I am also more confused now also, as this note and the orafaq both quote running the xaview.sql, whereas elsewhere I have read to use the initxa.sql script for enabling XA.

On looking at the xaview.sql I see that it creates two views.
However after logging into my database as sys I recieve:
SQL> desc v$xatrans$
ERROR:
ORA-04043: object v$xatrans$ does not exist
SQL> desc v$pending_xatrans$
ERROR:
ORA-04043: object v$pending_xatrans$ does not exist
Does this mean I don't have it enabled by default as the links you gave state? These scripts have not been run manually that I know of. I can't follow the note step to verify if its enabled as it doesn't explain how to.
I do know we use container managed transactions from app servers, such as WebLogic, with XA datasources against the database without issue.
I apologise if I have misunderstood something, any clarification is appreciated.

To enable the "Save" rights for Reader I can use Acrobat Pro menu option Advanced -> Enable Usage Rights in Adobe Reader...
What is the option in Reader Extensions console that maps to this right? Also, what service would this map to in Reader Extension WSDL?

Batch processing for Enabling Usage Rights for Reader

Hello,
We have a lot of documents that we are converting to fillable pdfs using Acorbat 9 which will then be sent out via email to be filled by users. Since there are 50-100 different files, is there a way to use Batch Processing to enable usage rights to Reader for all those documents? Any help or advice is appreciated.

There's no way with Acrobat. You can with Adobe's LiveCycle Reader Extensions product, but it's likely not worth it for just this.

Enable Usage Rights for Reader 9

Hi,
I'm reading through a pdf document and I want to make comments. Apparently I need to enable the usage rights through Advanced/Extend Features in Adobe Reader. However, I don't have the Advanced tab (Reader 9). Do I need to update to a newer version? I've tried doing this but the download only proceeds so far then stops. I've tried temporarily disabling my Antivirus but this doesn't change anything. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

You need Acrobat Standard or Pro to Reader-enable a document. Reader itself cannot do this. Reader 10 allows you to add sticky notes and hightlight text annotations, even of the file is not Reader-enabled, unless the document has security restrictions that prevent it.

How to set Adobe Reader as default for reading pdfs?

I recently added Adobe photoshop. Now when I get a PDF attached to an email or the help file in another program it's automatically opened in Adobe Photoshop. How do I change that to Adobe Reader?

I had MS Word set by Windows 7/64 as .PDF default and could not get any version of Adobe Reader to install as the default. Adobe support rejected the case Your Case Number:0181940706. After much searching, I found a Windows forum (not in Microsoft) that had the attached tool. Worked great, all pdf files now have acrord icons and open automagically (sic) with Reader X.

The other computer which I'm looking into CC for will be used by another user off-site, so even my second install (if it wasn't on my laptop already) would not be usable by him, right, since he's a second user?

Enabling Remote Desktop for Windows 7 as a task sequence

I have a task sequence to automate the creation of a base image of Windows 7 x64 Professional. In my base image I would like to have Remote Desktop enabled by default for all users. Is there a command or a script to do this that I can add into my task sequence to make this possible?

I have to agree except I can't understand why anyone would use anything other than the unattend.xml. You can do all that plus so much more and it's the way Microsoft provides to do it. This is my complete x64 unattend.xml version but I also have
an x86 version. This should give you some idea of it's capabilities.
Drop the unattend.xml file into a package and reference it in the Task Sequence as shown below. I dropped both my x86 and x64 version of the unattend.xml into the package. I use an OSD HTA menu on the frontend to let helpdesk pick
between x86 and x64. I cropped the picture up a bit and took out company specific info but you should get the idea from the screen captures. This is how I deploy x86 and x64 in a single task sequence. I mark every line with a condition in the task
sequence with (C) which makes it easier to find lines with conditions. I use the condition to assign x86 and x64 software among other things. The selection in the HTA pretty much triggers everything.

How to make signature field work for reader users? Security settings change when doc is extended???

I've been struggling to correct a problem all week and am at my wits end. Customer service was no help as the person I spoke with could barely speak english let alone understand the problem as I explained it to him. Hoping someone here can provide some insight, here's the issue:
I'm using a Windows 7 Professional OS. I created a Microsoft Word doc and used Adobe Acrobat XI Standard to create a form from it. It automatically detected the fields, which includes a signature field. I went through fixed it all up how it needed to be and did "save as other - reader extended pdf - enable forms fill in & save in reader".
The document is a report that will be sent to a small number of people that have to fill it out, digitally sign and return and I'm assuming that most if not all of them will open the document using the free Adobe Reader. So I thought extending it is what I needed to do to make sure they could fill it out, save it to their computer if need be, and also sign digitally. The signature field was automatically added in by acrobat for me and I did not change the properties of it at all except to add a border.
When I open the form in Reader (also XI) I can fill out all the fields, save it... but not sign it. The security settings say signing is not allowed even though I went back to the original pdf form and the security settings on it say allowed for everything. I don't know how to fix this... please help!!!

I don't have the Enable More Tools option under Reader Extended PDF. I just tried to download the XI Pro trial version and it won't complete installation because of the standard version I already have. Any advice or workarounds you know of? Going to the boss for $$ to upgrade to Pro is what I'll consider my last resort if the issue is truly that I have to use Pro to enable more tools for reader.... I appreciate your reply though. I sat here all day yesterday fingers crossed that SOMEONE would give it a go!

Acrobat 9 keeps changing itself to be the default PDF reader

I have CS4 installed including Acrobat Pro. I prefer to use Foxit reader as my default for reading PDF files. However, when I change the default program for PDF files to be Foxit, Acrobat changes it back to itself. I am running Windows 7 Pro 32-bit. How do I tell Acrobat to stop changing the default program?
