Doing stuff at Application Server startup

Hi all,
Sorry I have to post it here but my posts in "Java Programming' are not showing up.
How can I do some stuff when the application server is starting up.
I am using JBoss 3.2.3. At the Application Server startup I want to read a Properties file, and set its values in a class.
For example I have a AppDefaults.properties file with this entry:
DefaultDAOFactory=MSSQLSERVER
Now I have a class AppEnvironment:
public static class AppEnvironment {
  public static String defaultDAOFactory;
}Then at startup i want to read the value of "DefaultDAOFactory" key in AppDefaults.properties and set it as defaultDAOFactory attribute's value in AppEnvironment class.
How can I do that?

values in a class. I would guess that JBoss would have some call-back hooks for this. In which case the JBoss Forum might be a better place to ask (but they seam to have work forums, so I don't know if you can trust 'em). If not, maybe a static block:

  public static String defaultDAOFactory;  static {
    loadProps();
    defaultDAOFactory = props.getProp( "default_doa_factory" );
}
