  • Query on event based job in a client schema and not SYS schema

    Hi, I am fairly new to oracle job scheduler and wanted your inputs on how to create a event based job that sends a mail based on success of another job.
    I was able to implement this with the jobs being created under SYS schema. I did get email notifcation when errors were logged in exception table.
    However, now the requirement has changed to create the jobs under a client specific schema.
    The jobs got created successfully in CLIENT schema but the event based job is not working. It does not send the email notification.
    I feel this is to do with not correctly subscribing to the event queue {sys.scheduler$_event_queue}.
    Can CLIENT schema use the agent "AGENT" created under SYS to subscribe to the Scheduler event queue {sys.scheduler$_event_queue}? CLIENT is the schema in which the all jobs and procedures are created.
    BEGIN
    DBMS_AQADM.ENABLE_DB_ACCESS('AGENT', 'CLIENT');
    END;
    --Main Job that will load data and errors will be logged into exception table
    BEGIN
    dbms_scheduler.create_job( job_name=> 'CLIENT.LOAD_DATA',
    job_type=>'PLSQL_BLOCK',
    job_action=>'BEGIN  CLIENT.p_loaddata;
    END;',
    start_date=>systimestamp,
    repeat_interval=>'FREQ=MINUTELY;INTERVAL=1;',
    number_of_arguments=>0,
    enabled=> true);
    END;
    --set raise_events attribute = job_succeeded for main job
    BEGIN
    DBMS_SCHEDULER.set_attribute ('CLIENT.LOAD_DATA', 'raise_events', DBMS_SCHEDULER.job_succeeded);
    END;
    --Event Job that will send email based on condition. Condition is checked in procedure CLIENT.p_check_sendmail; If errors are found in the exception table, this job will raise exception and will be JOB_FAILED status. This job will send a email notification.
    BEGIN
    DBMS_SCHEDULER.create_job (       job_name          => 'CLIENT.EMAIL_JOB',
    job_type          => 'PLSQL_BLOCK',
    job_action        => 'BEGIN  CLIENT.p_check_sendmail;                                   END;',
    event_condition  => 'tab.user_data.event_type = ''JOB_SUCCEEDED'' and tab.user_data.object_name = ''LOAD_DATA''',
    queue_spec        => 'sys.scheduler$_event_queue,AGENT',
    enabled          => true);
    END;
    BEGIN
    dbms_scheduler.add_job_email_notification ( job_name => 'CLIENT.EMAIL_JOB',     recipients => '[email protected]',events => 'JOB_FAILED');
    END;
    Is the way i am subscribing to the event queue correct? Could you please share an example/document of event based job in a schema other than SYS and how subscription is being done to event queue?
    Thanks

    Hi,
    It's a good decision you made because you shouldn't create objects in the SYS schema. I see you're using the add_job_email_notification procedure, so I'm assuming you're on 11g onwards.
    This procedure is meant to make the job easy for you. That is, you don't need to worry about setting up AQ, the procedure does it all for you. All you need to do is setup the mail server if not already done, and call this procedure to add the mail notification. That's it.
    You can also specify a filter to the add_job_email_notification procedure, so maybe you could specify directly your CLIENT.LOAD_DATA job to this procedure.

  • Query slow in  user schema but fast in sys schema

    Hi,
    DB :10.2.
    OS :Aix
    Tool : Toad
    We executed a query which fast(20 seconds) in sys schema.
    But it's taking slow in user schema(it is taken 10 minutes).
    Yesterday we gathered dictionary stats also.
    Any suggestions.
    Thanks & Regards,
    VN

    You're querying a bunch of USER_<<x>> data dictionary views. Since those views show the objects owned by the current user, the script you generate will be completely different depending on the identity of the current user and the set of objects owned by the current user. If you create a new user and run this script as the new user, it will be even faster because USER_TABLES, USER_SEGMENTS, USER_INDEXES, etc. will all be empty.
    I don't understand why you would issue a MOVE on a table without specifying a new tablespace-- that seems like a pointless exercise. And I would seriously question the architect that wants to use ANALYZE to gather statistics rather than using DBMS_STATS.

  • I load a package into SYS schema but cant resolve references made from a different sc

    I loaded javamail-1.2 (and associated dependencies) into the SYS schema, just because it has classes under the same package root "javax".
    If I try to load a second class having an import like "javax.mail.*" into a schema other than SYS, I get a message "can't find xxx".
    How can I make the SYS new classes visible to a different schema?
    Thanks for any help.

    1) A WHEN OTHERS exception handler that does not re-raise an exception is almost certainly an error. In your case, you are writing the error message out via DBMS_OUTPUT, but unless your front end happens to try to read and display the DBMS_OUTPUT buffer, the error will be ignored. You realistically want to remove that exception handler.
    2) Creating an index will not raise a NO_DATA_FOUND if there is no data in the table, so that exception handler is superfluous.Thank you very much, now that I removed that Exception it is telling me insufficient rights.
    3) If you want User A to be able to create an index in User B's schema, User A would need to be granted the CREATE ANY INDEX privilege (directly, not via a role). If you are getting a permissions error creating the index after removing the incorrect exception handlers, that is likely the problem. If you are getting a permissions error dropping the index after removing the incorrect exception handlers, you would need to ensure that User A has been granted the DROP ANY INDEX privilege.I thought that since I had specifically granted the INDEX privledge to SchemaA on a specific table in SchemaB that Schema A would be able to drop and create indexes on that specific table. However.. having just looked again at the documentation it would seem that I would need to be able to do exactly as you say and have the ANY to be able to create it in another schema.
    4) Since the various ANY privileges (CREATE ANY INDEX, DROP ANY INDEX, etc) are rather powerful and not restricted to a particular schema, is there a logical reason not to put this code in Schema B to begin with?Nothing in particular other than attempting to keep it all with the "parent" schema so that the select into's are run from the parent and populate the child (schemab). I guess I can have Schema A call the package in schema B and execute it however will that execute as Schema A or B?
    Thanks for such a fast and detailed response

  • Some objects in sys schema not imported usinf full database import/export.

    Hello All,
    We need to migrate database from one server to new server using same database version 11g Release 2 (11.2.0.1.0). We have some production objects in sys schema. We took full export using full=y and then import on new server using full=y. Other objects belonging to different tablespaces and users has successfully imported but production objects i.e table in sys schema not import.
    We used following commands for export and import:
    # exp system file=/u01/backup/orcl_full_exp.dmp log=/u01/backup/orcl_full_exp.log full=y statistics=none
    # imp system file=/u01/backup/orcl_full_exp.dmp log=/u01/backup/orcl_full_imp.log full=y ignore=y

    Hi,
    First of all it is not good practice to keep user object in the sys schema
    second you are useing version 11gr2 what not you go for datapump export/import method.
    third, did you get any error in import, what is the error

  • Limitation on the number of tables in a Database Schema!

    Hi All,
    Is there a limitation on the number of tables present in a schema that can be fetched in Designer while creating a universe.
    Customer is using Oracle schema which contains 22000 tables and while trying to insert tables in Designer XIR2 (or trying to get the table browser) Designer hangs.
    In BO 6.5 there are no issues while retrieving the tables from the schema in Designer.
    Is there a way to retrieve only a certain amount of tables in Designer XIR2?
    Thanks for your help!

    Hi Ganesh,
    Following are the Answers regaring your queries:
    Query : 1
    There is no limitation on the number of components (objects, classes, tables, joins, hierarchies, lov's, etc) in a universe. But of course as the number of components increases, you could run into problems  related to performance.
    This depends on available RAM and the processing speed.
    Query 2:
    There is NO such option to select the number of table to be automatically inserted in to the universe because Suppose if you have 22000 tables in DB and you want only 1000 table ,you entered 1000 tables as the value to insert tables in Universe then How Designer will come to know which tables you want to take in Schema to build the Universe?
    It all depends on the DBA and Universe Designer which tables are important for organizations reporting needs.
    When you  create connection to the DB then Connection will fetch all table from the database and we canu2019t limit  DB data retrieval.
    I hope this Helps...
    Thanks...

  • How do i find out the tables effected in a schema after a particular time stamp

    how do i find out the tables effected in a schema after a particular time stamp?
    pls email in [email protected]

    If you are doing a reload every time then you can issue following commands to clear data from cube.
    lmt name to all
    allstat
    clear all from <cubename>prttopvar
    You can wrap above commands in pl sql procedure using dbms_aw.execute package and execute it before cube load starts. Instead of clearing it from whole cube you can clear only from one partition also. Just take a look at clear command in olap DML 10.2 reference.

  • How can I create a table in other's schema?

    I have two users say 'user1' and 'sanju' along with other users in the database.Both the users are granted a connect role. I have connected as a 'sanju' user. Now I want to create a table in schema 'user1'.
    Please note that user 'sanju' should not be allowed to create table in any other user's schema.
    I have set the current schema of 'sanju' as 'user1'.
    ALTER SESSION SET CURRENT_SCHEMA=USER1
    I know that 'grant create ANY table to sanju' will allow 'sanju' to create table in all the schema. I dont want that. Is there any way to create a table in any other's schema?
    Please answer ASAP

    This is not directly possible, but you can use following workaround:
    connect user1/passwd
    create or replace procedure testCreateTable as
    begin
    execute immediate 'create table user1.testTable(c char)';
    end test;
    grant execute on testCreateTable to sanju;
    connect sanju/passwd
    execute testCreateTable
    Of course, you can make this procedure more generic by specifying the necessary parameter.
    Please not that this procedure only works, if user1 was granted the create table privilege directly, and not through a role (e.g. dba), because roles are disabled when executing

  • Tables in a different schema not visible from function

    I'm getting a really weird error in a function that I wrote. I have user "A" who has access to schemas for users "B" and "C". I need to update a table in schema "B" with data from schema "C". So, I created a function that selects information from a table in schema "B", uses that information to find the data of interest in schema "C" and then I update the table in schema "B" with the information I just looked up in schema "C". Clear so far?
    Anyway, when I try to create the function (I"m using SQLPLUS for all of this) I get an error message that the tables I am referencing in schema's "B" and "C" do not exist. However, if I modify the function so that I select a column that doesn't exists from a table in schema "B", then I get an error pointing this out to me. So, it seems weird that I have enough visibility into schemas "B" and "C" to know if I am accessing data by the correct column names, but when the column names are correct, I get an error message saying "table or view does not exist". I am in my development environment, and user "A" is granted the "DBA" role.
    So, here is my function. Note that I have qualified the table names with the schema owner (i.e. B.KPF_FOLDER_ITEMS) Any tips would be greatly appreciated. Database is 9i

    Stored objects with DEFINER rights (default for stored objects) ignore role based privileges. Make sure SP owner is directly (not via role) granted privileges on objects in other schema.

  • Moving Subpartitions to a duplicate table in a different schema.

    +NOTE: I asked this question on the PL/SQL and SQL forum, but have moved it here as I think it's more appropriate to this forum. I've placed a pointer to this post on the original post.+
    Hello Ladies and Gentlemen.
    We're currently involved in an exercise at my workplace where we are in the process of attempting to logically organise our data by global region. For information, our production database is currently at version 10.2.0.3 and will shortly be upgraded to 10.2.0.5.
    At the moment, all our data 'lives' in the same schema. We are in the process of producing a proof of concept to migrate this data to identically structured (and named) tables in separate database schemas; each schema to represent a global region.
    In our current schema, our data is range-partitioned on date, and then list-partitioned on a column named OFFICE. I want to move the OFFICE subpartitions from one schema into an identically named and structured table in a new schema. The tablespace will remain the same for both identically-named tables across both schemas.
    Do any of you have an opinion on the best way to do this? Ideally in the new schema, I'd like to create each new table as an empty table with the appropriate range and list partitions defined. I have been doing some testing in our development environment with the EXCHANGE PARTITION statement, but this requires the destination table to be non-partitioned.
    I just wondered if, for partition migration across schemas with the table name and tablespace remaining constant, there is an official "best practice" method of accomplishing such a subpartition move neatly, quickly and elegantly?
    Any helpful replies welcome.
    Cheers.
    James

    You CAN exchange a subpartition into another table using a "temporary" (staging) table as an intermediary.

    SQL>I have exchanged subpartition p_2_s_1 out of the table part_subpart into the table NEW_part_subpart -- even with a different name for the subpartition (n_p_2_s_1) if so desired.
    NOTE : Since your source and target tables are in different schemas, you will have to move (or copy) the staging table STG_part_subpart from the first schema to the second schema after the first "exchange subpartition" is done. You will have to do this for every subpartition to be exchanged.
